  • The purpose of this study is to provide basic resources to the first-grade Home Economics Regular Teacher Qualification Program (FGHERTQP) in order to improve its operation plans. For the study, the three methods were carried out: an analysis on the curricula of FGHERTQP over six years since 2000, a questionnaire asking their satisfaction degrees and needs on the programs which was answered by the home economics teachers who were the participants of FGHERTQP, and several statistical analyses such as a descriptive-test, a $X^2$-test, a t-test, and one way ANOVA by using SPSS Win ver 10.0. The results of the study were as follows; Firstly, FGHERTQP has been operated ten times by five training centers during resent six years. Subject matters ($1{\sim}7$), whole numbers of lectures ($11{\sim}29$), and their allotted working hours ($111{\sim}136$) vary with individual training centers and operation years. Secondly, when using 5 point likert scales, Contents and Methods of evaluation marked 3.08 which were the lowest scores, and Qualification Training in General marked 3.72 which was the highest score among five fields of Qualification Training in General, Contents, Organizations, Methods and Evaluation. The overall scores were low. Thirdly, in needs analysis on offering subject matters, the participants wanted to study the field of home economics education more than that of subject contents. Looking about the highest needs classified by domains, Food Principles & Meal Management showed the highest in Foods. And Consumer Issues in Clothing & Textiles in Textiles, Upcoming Housing Cultures in Housing, Family Relationship in Child Development & Family Relationship, Juveniles and their daily life as a consumer in Family & Consumer Resources Management. Fourthly, training centers' lectures available had a significant influence on the satisfaction degrees according to general characteristic variations of the participants. That is, as a training center offers more lectures in the field of subject education than those of subject contents, the participants showed higher satisfaction degrees (p<.05).

  • This study is aimed at researching the applicability of teaching-learning models in highschool geography class by designing the models on the basis of geographical experience the learners go through everyday life. The procedures and results of the application of the models are as followed. First, the systematization of the teaching concepts should be preceded to internalize the learners cognitive development, that is, to systemize cognitive structure. The concrete learning points of geographical concepts from the units about Migration and Population Changes are systemized with 'migration' as a higher concept, 'moving type' as basic concept, 'moving factors' as the lower concept. Everyday geographical experiences the students can go through are surveyed. Second, as preparation for the geography class, hand-outs about family-moving history and the change of the family number were used as basic material for real class teaching activity, showing the learners' general concepts are very effective as basic units which can be easily understood and accessed to. Third, with the experimental class, the geography class should secure the flexibility on the teaching-learning process. The result of applying the newly developed teaching-learning model to actual geography classes was that experimental group had higher achievement rate than the compared group with general teaching-learning model applied to. The result of analyzing students' response of the new teaching-learning model was that the students were interested and satisfied emphatically and they showed positive response in regard to practical use of the contents. Here, it is noticeable that the new teaching-learning model causes the students to be interested. But it's also found that there's no big difference in improving the students' inquisitive mind.

The subjects in this research were 86 boys and girls(aged range 6 to 14 years) consisted of 20 ADHD, 22 comorbid ADHD(ADHD+CD/ODD) and 44 normal control group(NC). We have collected data on children and their mothers. The psychosocial variables included in the analysis are socioeconomic status, parent's educational level, life stress event, and the rate of psychiatric disorders in relatives. The self-reported questionnaires marital discord(MAS), parenting stress(PSI), and parenting attitute(MBRI) completed by mothers. The results indicated that ADHD+CD/ODD is supposed to have higher level of family adversity suggested by the lower SES, lower parental educational level, higher life stress events, and more psychic disorders in relatives compared with ADHD or normal control group. In MAS, ADHD+CD/ODD group has significantly the lowest scores on each factor of the measure of marital adjustment. Parents of ADHD+CD/ODD are much more likely to have positive parenting stress when compared with the parents of ADHD. Especially, mothers of ADHD+CD/ODD have the lowest tendency in the mean score on affective, accepted attitudd. In an inapropriate parenting attitude perceived by children, father of ADHD+CD/ODD have the most negative, contradictory attitude and mothers of ADHD+CD/ODD have the most restrictive, negative and contradictory attitude.

  • IIn the United States, professional dress codes for working women have changed over time since the 1970s. Considering the changes, from conservative and traditional business uniforms in the 1970s, business casual in the late 1980s through 1990s, and the current revival of tailored business suits, this study investigated working women's business jacket practices and their association with personal, psycho-social, and physical characteristics. Working women's job satisfaction and corporate culture were also examined in relation to business jacket practices. Research data were collected by implementing mail surveys to 1,500 randomly selected working women in the United States. Of the 1,500 distributed questionnaires, a total of 312 were returned, of which 265 were deemed usable, yielding a 20.8% response rate. For data analysis, descriptive statistics, such as frequency, percentage distribution, mean scores, standard deviations, and Canonical Correlation were tabulated. The respondents ranged in age from 22 to 65. The mean age of the respondents was 44 years(SD=9.63). Most respondents were married(77.4%), working full-time(81.4%), career-oriented (77.2%), Caucasian(89.8%), had at least one child(78.9%), and had a professional job(75.9%). Working women's age, number of children, self-confidence in dressing, perceived importance of clothing, body frame size, and visibility to superiors and public were positively associated with business jacket practices, while age of first child, family size, dress size, and job satisfaction were negatively associated with business jacket practices.

Questionnaires for general characteristics of the subjects(such as family size, living cost, pocket money and health condition) and for meal management were used. The levels of depression and anxiety were measured by CED-S and Spielbuger's STAI-S, respectively In addition, nutrient intakes were conducted by convenience methods. Nutrient intake of male and female showed the average daily intake of energy, Protein, vitamin A, vitamin $B_2, $ and vitamin C were lower than Korean recommended dietary allowances(RDA). But other nutrient intake were higher than RDA except that calcium intake of female was lower. Most nutrient intakes were positively correlated with family size, living cost, pocket money and health condition. Depression and anxiety scores were also negatively correlated with most of nutrient intakes. The pattern of meal management could predict nutrient intakes as expected : regularity and pleansantness of eating were positively correlated with nutrient intakes, whereas unbalanced meal and eating lonely were negatively correlated with them.
