  • In the design of structure, the forces acting on tai structure are key parameter fur noise and vibration control. However, in the complex structure, the forces at the injection point on the structure cannot be measured directly. So, it is necessary to find out Indirect force evaluation method. In this paper, forces have been measured with In-situ vibration responses and system information. And, three existing techniques of indirect force measurement, vita. direct inverse. principal component analysis and regularization have been compared. This paper shows that multi-vibration responses are essential for talc precise estimation of the forces. To check these conditions, rotary compressor is adopted as test sample, because it is very difficult to measure the injection forces from internal excitation to shell. It alas also been obtained that relatively higher force is transmitted through three welding paths to the compressor shell. It shows a good agreement between direct and indirect force evaluation with curvature shell and plate.

However, in the complex structure, the forces at the injection point on the structure cannot be measured directly. Thus it is necessary to find out indirect force evaluation method. In this paper forces have been measured with in-situ vibration responses and system information. Three existing techniques of indirect force measurement, viz. direct inverse, principal component analysis and regularization have been compared. It has been shown that multi-vibration responses are essential for the precise estimation of the forces. To satisfy those conditions, Rotary compressor is adopted as test sample, because it is very difficult to measure the injection forces from internal excitation to shell. It has also been obtained that relatively higher force is transmitted though three welding paths to the compressor shell. It shows a good agreement between direct and indirect force evaluation with curvature shell and plate and is investigated the possibility of force evaluation of rotary compressor as a complex structure.

  • The inverse method has been used to estimate a surface velocity field from sequential AVHRR/SST data. In the model, equation system was composed of heat equation and horizontal divergence minimization and the velocity field contained in the advective term of the heat equation, which was linearized in grid system, was estimated. A constraint was the minimization of horizontal divergence with weighting factor and introduced to compensate the null space(Menke, 1984) of the velocity solutions for the heat equation. The experiments were carried out to set up the range of weighting factor and the matrix equation was solved by SVD(Singular Value Decomposion). In the experiment, the scales of horizontal temperature gradient and divergence of synthetic velocity field were approximated to those of real field. The neglected diffusive effect and the horizontal variation of heat flux in the heat equation were regarded as random temperature errors. According to the result of experiments, the minimum of relative error was more desirable than the minimum of misfit as the criteria of setting up the weighting factor and the error of estimated velocity field became small when the weighting factor was order of $10^{-1}$

  • Matched field processing technique is performed by considering complex underwater environments. Specially, the performance of minimum variance processor is greatly degraded by eigenvalue problem. In this paper, we propose the minimum variance matched field processor using shaping matrix. This shaping matrix makes that the input covariance matrix is invertible and enhances the desired acoustic source component. It was proved effectively range/depth localization of the proposed method with simulated data and vertical array data collected by NATO SACLANT Center north of the island of Elba off the Italian west coast.

  • This paper proposes an efficient beam-shell modeling technique for the free vibration analysis of a T-joint thin-walled beam structure. Except a small portion of a T-joint which is modeled by shell elements, the structure is modeled by thin-walled beam elements that can describe warping and distortion. In order to match the shell and thin-walled beam elements at the interface of the dissimilar elements, a technique based on a pseudo inverse matrix is formulated. This paper also examines the role of the thin-walled element taking into account the distortion and warping deformation degrees of freedom in predicting accurately the dynamic characteristics of a T-joint thin-walled structure.

  • In many applications, the typical parallel-jaw end-effector of a robot arm has been remarkably satisfactory. But, it is not adequate for the applications such as complicated manipulation. In the study, a finger with 4 joints (so, having redundancy) was consturcted to investigate the characteristics of an articulated hand. Each joint was driven by one actuator, and the motor torque was transmited to each joint through a tendon-pulley system. In the context, major considerations for hardware design and the method to solve the inverse kinematics of a redundant manipulator were presented. Finally, the basic capabilities of an articulated hand were presented through experiments.

  • In this paper, a new matrix decoding system using vector based Virtual Source Location Information (VSLI) is proposed as an alternative to the conventional Dolby Pro logic II/IIx system for reconstructing multi-channel output signals from matrix encoded two channel signals, Lt/Rt. This new matrix decoding system is composed of passive decoding part and active part. The passive part makes crude multi-channel signals using linear combination of the two encoded signals(Lt/Rt) and the active part enhances each channel regarding to the virtual source which is emergent in each inter channel. Since the virtual sources are related to the perceptual sound images in virtual sound field, the reconstructed multi-channel sound results in good dynamic perception and stable image localization. Moreover, the good channel separation is maintained with nonlinear trigonometric enhancing function.
