A Study on Resonance Durability Analysis of Vehicle Suspension System (차량 현가 시스템의 공진내구해석에 대한 연구)

  • In this paper, resonance durability analysis is performed for the fatigue life assessment considering vibration effect of a vehicle system. In the resonance durability analysis, the frequency response and the dynamic load on frequency domain are used. Multi-body dynamic analysis, finite element analysis, and fatigue life prediction method are applied for the virtual durability assessment. To obtain the frequency response and the dynamic load history, the computer simulations running over typical pothole and Belgian road are carried out by utilizing vehicle dynamic model. The durability estimations on the rear suspension system of the passenger car are performed by using the resonance durability analysis technique and compared with the quasi-static durability analysis. The study shows that the fatigue life considering resonant frequency of vehicle system can be effectively estimated in early design stage.

Stereok Matching based on Intensity and Features for Images with Background Removed (배경을 제외한 영상에서 명암과 특징을 기반으로하는 스테레오 정합)

  • 기존의 스테레오 정합 알고리즘은 크게 명암기반기법과 특징기반기법의 두 가지로 나눌 수 있다. 그리고, 각 기법은 그들 나름대로의 장단점을 갖는다. 본 논문은 이 두 기법을 결합하는 새로운 알고리즘을 제안한다. 본 논문에서는 물체모델링을 목적으로 하기 때문에 배경을 제거하여 정합하는 방법을 사용한다. 이를 위해, 정합요소들과 정합유사함수가 정의되고, 정합유사함수는 두 기법사이의 장단점을 하나의 인수에 의해 조절한다. 그 외에도 거리차 지도의 오류를 제거하는 coarse-to-fine기법, 폐색문제를 해결하는 다중윈도우 기법을 사용하였고, 물체의 표면형태를 알아내기 위해 morphological closing 연산자를 이용하여 물체와 배경을 분리하는 방법을 제안하였다. 이러한 기법들을 기반으로 하여 여러가지 영상에 대해 실험을 수행하였으며, 그 결과들은 본 논문이 제안하는 기법의 효율성을 보여준다. 정합의 결과로 만들어지는 거리차 지도는 3차원 모델링을 통해 가상공간상에서 보여지도록 하였다.Abstract Classical stereo matching algorithms can be classified into two major areas; intensity-based and feature-based stereo matching. Each technique has advantages and disadvantages. This paper proposes a new algorithm which merges two main matching techniques. Since the goal of our stereo algorithm is in object modeling, we use images for which background is removed. Primitives and a similarity function are defined. The matching similarity function selectively controls the advantages and disadvantages of intensity-based and feature-based matching by a parameter.As an additional matching strategy, a coarse-to-fine method is used to remove a errorneous data on the disparity map. To handle occlusions, multiple windowing method is used. For finding the surface shape of an object, we propose a method that separates an object and the background by a morphological closing operator. All processes have been implemented and tested with various image pairs. The matching results showed the effectiveness of our method. From the disparity map computed by the matching process, 3D modeling is possible. 3D modeling is manipulated by VRML(Virtual Reality Manipulation Language). The results are summarized in a virtual reality space.

Fast Axis Estimation from 3D Axially-Symmetric Object's Fragment (3차원 회전축 대칭 물체 조각의 축 추정 방법)

  • To reduce the computational cost required for assembling vessel fragments using surface geometry, this paper proposes a fast axis estimation method. Using circular constraint of pottery and local planar patch assumption, it finds the axis of the symmetry. First, the circular constraint on each cylinder is used. A circular symmetric pot can be thought of unions of many cylinders with different radii. It selects one arbitrary point on the pot fragment surface and searches a path where a circumference exists on that point. The variance of curvature will be calculated along the path and the path with the minimum variance will be selected. The symmetric axis will pass through the center of that circle. Second, the planar patch assumption and profile curve is used. The surface of fragment is divided into small patches and each patch is assumed as plane. The surface normal of each patch will intersects the axis in 3D space since each planar patch faces the center of the pot. A histogram method and minimization of the profile curve error are utilized to find the probability distribution of the axis location. Experimental results demonstrate the improvement in speed and robustness of the algorithms.

Study on a 2-Dimensional Dynamic Modeling Technique to Analyze the Overriding Phenomena of Rollingstock (열차의 타고오름 해석을 위한 2차원 충돌동역학 모델링 기법 연구)

  • This paper proposed a new 2-D multi-body dynamic modeling technique to analyze overriding behaviors taking place during train collision. This dynamic model is composed of nonlinear springs, dampers and masses by considering the deformable characteristics of carbodies as well as energy absorbing structures and components. By solving this dynamic model for rollingstock, energy absorbing capacities of collision elements, accelerations of passenger sections, impact forces applied to interconnecting devices, and overriding displacements can be well estimated. For a case study, we chose KHST (Korean High Speed Train), obtained crush characteristic data of each carbody section from 3-D finite element analysis, and established a 2-D multi-body dynamic model. This 2-D dynamic model was simulated under the train-to-train collision scenarios, and evaluated with 3-D virtual testing model. It was founded from the simulation results that this 2-D dynamic model could well predict overriding behaviors, and the modeling technique of carbody deformation was very important in overriding estimation.

Immersed Boundary Method for Flow Induced by Transverse Oscillation of a Circular Cylinder in a Free-Stream (가상경계법을 사용한 횡단 진동하는 실린더 주위의 유동 해석)

  • Numerical calculations are carried out for flow past a circular cylinder forced oscillating normal to the free-stream flow at a fixed Reynolds number equal to 185. The cylinder oscillation frequency ranged from 0.8 to 1.2 of the natural vortex-shedding frequency, and the oscillation amplitude extended up to 20% of the cylinder diameter. IBM (Immersed Boundary Method) with direct momentum forcing was adopted to handle both of a stationary and an oscillating cylinder Present results such as time histories of drag and lift coefficients for both stationary and oscillating cases are in good agreement with previous numerical and experimental results. The instantaneous wake patterns of oscillating cylinder with different oscillating frequency ratios showed the synchronized wakes pattern in the lock-in region and vortex switching phenomenon at higher frequency ratio than the critical frequency ratio.

  • A geometrical inverse heat conduction problem is solved for the infrared scanning cavity detection by the boundary element method using minimal energy technique. By minimizing the kinetic energy of temperature field, boundary element equations are converted to the quadratic programming problem. A hypothetical inner boundary is defined such that the actual cavity is located interior to the domain. Temperatures at hypothetical inner boundary are determined to meet the constraints of mea- surement error of surface temperature obtained by infrared scanning, and then boundary element analysis is peformed for the position of an unknown boundary (cavity). Cavity detection algorithm is provided, and the effects of minimal energy technique on the inverse solution method are investigated by means of numerical analysis.

  • Ubiquitous has spotlighted in the industry in these days, and automotive industry has tried to build ubiquitous environment like as 'intelligent driver assistance system' in BMW Inc. even though in shipbuilding industry. As the part of Ubiquitous Technology for visualization, Mixed Reality has been adopted in this paper. Augmented reality, a part of mixed reality, could show the mixed real world, overlapping virtual objects. Therefore, it is more realistic than virtual reality that all generated by computer and it is very useful for displaying information. For this reason, we tried to apply augmented reality to inspect marine structure and we developed the inspection assistance system based on mixed reality

  • The evaluation of durability performance in Virtual Testing Laboratory(VTL) is a new concept of vehicle design, which can reduce the automotive design period and cost. In this study, the multibody dynamics model of a car is built with a reverse engineering design. Hard points and masses of components are measured by a surface scanning device and imported into CAD system. In order to simulate the non-linear dynamic behavior of force elements such as dampers and bushes, components and materials are tested with specialized test equipments. An optimized numerical model for the damping behavior is used and the hysteresis of bush rubber is considered in the simulation. Loads of components are calculated in VTL and used in the evaluation of durability performance. In order to verify simulation results, loads of components in the vehicle are measured and durability tests are performed.

  • 가상현실 기술은 3 차원 가상공간 및 물체를 시각화하는데 중점을 두고 있다. 이는 사용자가 3 차원으로 데이터를 충분히 활용하지 못하고, 시각자료로만 사용하게 되는 요인이 된다. 이를 보완하기 위해 시각 정보뿐만 아니라 구조 및 관계에 대한 정보까지도 효과적으로 활용 할 수 있는 연구가 필요하다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 외형뿐만 아니라 내부적인 구조와 관계에도 의미를 부여하기 위하여 3 차원 건축물에 XML 기반의 토픽맵을 적용하였다. 전통 건축물의 공포 부분을 모델링하고, 각각의 객체가 사용자에 의해 조작이 가능하도록 하였으며, 객체들의 구조와 연결관계를 분석하고, 정의된 구조 및 관계를 토대로 토픽맵을 작성하였다. 작성된 토픽맵은 모델링 데이터에 적용 가능하도록 DOM 을 이용하여 변환하였다. 이 연구를 통해 아무리 복잡한 구조물이라도 그에 대한 구조 정보를 쉽게 파악할 수 있었고, 계층적 연결 관계도 쉽게 파악 할 수 있었다.

A Collision Detection and Octree Partitioning Method using CLOD (CLOD 를 활용한 충돌검출과 옥트리 분할 기법)

  • 본 논문은 기존의 3D 게임 엔진에 실시간으로 상호 작용이 가능하고 3D MMORPG(Massive Multi-play Online Role flaying Game) 게임에 적합한 가상 공간을 표현하기 위한 필요한 기술을 분석하고 이를 활용하려 한다. 기존의 머드 게임에 3 차원 기술을 적용하고, 3 차원 물체를 모델링 하는데 있어서 메쉬나 버텍스, 혹은 폴리곤으로 사실적인 지형 처리와 렌드링 속도 향상을 위하여 3 차원 개체의 폴리곤을 동적으로 생성시키고 가시성 판단이나 충돌 검출을 위한 방법으로 Height field 처리 기법과 거리에 변화에 따라 다르게 모델링 된 데이터를 선택적으로 사용하는 CLOD(Continuous Level of Detail) 처리 기법과 입체 컬링 방법으로 옥트리를 이용하여 가상공간을 분해하기 위한 자료 구조로 사용한다. 거리의 변화에 따라 지형을 표현하는 vertex 들을 병합 또는 삭제함으로써 그 표현의 정도를 동적으로 달리 할 수 있는 CLOD 를 이용하여 카메라의 위치와 방향에 따라 적절한 폴리곤을 생성해 낼 수 있다. 본 논문은 기존의 3 차원 공간을 표현하기 위하여 사용되고 있는 옥트리 구조를 이용하여 공간을 분할하고, 이를 세부 수준으로 나누어 처리하기 위한 LOD(Level of Detail)와 CLOD 개념을 이용하여 외부지형을 폴리곤으로 표현하는 방법에 대한 처리 기법과 가시성 판단이나 충돌 검출을 위한 방법을 제시하려 한다.
