  • In this paper, a C-band 6-bit phase shifter is designed and fabricated and design techniques for each phase bit are represented. We applied the loaded line type to $5.625^{\circ},\;11.25^{\circ},\;22.5^{\circ}\;and\;45^{\circ}$ phase bits and the hybrid coupled type to $90^{\circ}$ phase bit and the switched line type to $180^{\circ}$ phase bit, respectively on a microstrip copper substrate.

Nonlinear Predictive Control with Multiple Models (다중 모델을 이용한 비선형 시스템의 예측제어에 관한 연구)

  • In the paper, we propose a predictive control scheme using multiple neural network-based prediction models. To construct the multiple models, we select several specific values of a parameter whose variation affects serious control performance in the plant. Among the multiple prediction models, we choose one that shows the best predictions for future outputs of the plant by a switching technique. Based on a nonlinear programming method, we calculate the current process input in the nonlinear predictive control system with multiple prediction models. The proposed control method is shown to be very effective when a parameter of the plant changes or the time delay, if it exists, varies. It is also shown that the proposed method is successfully applied for the control of suspension in a electro-magnetic levitation system.

  • This paper introduces an adaptive anti-sway tracking control algorithm for container cranes with unknown payloads and friction between the trolley and the rail. If the friction effects in the system can be modeled, there is an improved potential to design controllers that can cancel these effects. The proposed control improves the sway suppressing and the positioning capabilities of the trolley and hoisting against uncertain payload and friction. The variable structure controls are first designed based on a class of feedback linearization methods for the stabilization of the under-actuated sway dynamics. The adaptation mechanism are then designed with parameter estimation of unknown payload and friction compensation for the trolley and hoisting, based on Lyapunov stability methods for the accurate positioning and fast attenuation of trolley oscillation due to frictions in the vicinity of the target position. The asymptotic stability of the overall closed-loop system is assured irrespective of variations of rope length. Simulations are shown under various frictions and external winds in the case of no priori information of payload mass.

  • This paper proposed intelligent motor control system that replaced smart motor devices, such as motor protection relays, smart circuit breakers and variable speed drives, with one integrated module to perform efficient motor control at industrial sites. The proposed intelligent motor control system provides easy monitoring of critical data for each motor or load connected to an intelligent motor control system over a CIP(Common Industrial Protocol)-based network, which enables accurate process control at all times, real-time access to fault information and records to simplify diagnosis and minimize equipment downtime.

  • The layout of electrical power distribution networks never involved communications aspects. As a result their transmission properties severly complicate the use as data links. Futhermore bandwidth as well as transmission power is restricted. Nevertheless, power distribution net works represent a most attractive medium for digital communication purposes due to an ever increasing demand, e.g., for environment management of buildings, office automation, and remote meter reading or security monitoring. In this paper, a power line modem which is capable of transmitting and receiving data at 1200 bps using OOK-BASK through 220V AC power lines is implemented. The receiver includes noncoherent detector and performs soft decision. The OLM circuits can be simplified by use of microprocessor. The PLM also satisfies CENELEC, European standards, and can be applied to home automation system.

  • PID controllers, which have been widely used in industry, have a simple structure and robustness to modeling error. But it is difficult to have uniformly good control performance in system parameters variation or different velocity command. In this paper, we propose an adaptive PID controller based on a gradient descent learning. This algorithm has a simple structure like conventional PID controller and robustness to system parameters variation. To verify performances of the proposed adaptive PID controller, the speed control of nonlinear DC motor is performed. The simulation results show that the proposed control systems are effective in tracking a command velocity under system parameters variation.

  • The envelope is important for sustainable building. Recent commercial buildings are causing thermal degradation and cooling load due to the increase of the area of the windows. Therefore, this research studied kinetic shading system which can improve energy saving and visual environment in summer. For that, this study proposed new shading system and shape considering the orientation of the building and the location of the sun. Based on this, this study analyzed the effectiveness on energy reduction and improvement of visual environment by applying the kinetic shading system proposed in this study. As the results of this study, energy reduction rate was 35% in the east, 22.9% in the south, and 30.7% in the west depending on the application location. Also, as the result of the illuminance analysis, it was found that the effect of achieving uniformity ratio of illumination was considerable.

  • 농용트랙터의 전방차축 현가장치는 노면으로부터 발생하는 진동의 영향을 줄일 수 있기 때문에 트랙터의 대형화, 고속화의 추세에 맞춰서 승차감과 조향감을 향상시키는 데 중요한 역할을 한다. 전방차축의 현가장치는 트랙터의 차체 무게에 의한 부하가 크고, 또한 유압 펌프를 비롯한 유압시스템이 존재하기 때문에 유압식 회로로 구성하는 것이 바람직하다. 하지만, 현가장치의 유압회로를 개발하는데 있어서 실제 시스템을 구성하여 실제 실험을 통한 개발에는 비용과 시간이 많이 필요하다. 본 연구에서는 유압식 전방차축 현가장치에 필요한 유압회로부 개발을 위하여 시뮬레이션 기법과 요인시험 장치를 이용 적정 유압회로를 설계하고자 하였다. 이를 위하여 어큐뮬레이터, 가변 오리피스, 릴리프밸브, 체크밸브 등으로 구성된 유압 현가요인 시험 장치를 설계 제작하였으며, 현가 부품인 실린더 행정, 속도, 전달되는 힘을 측정하고, 유압 해석 프로그램인 SimulationX를 이용 구성된 유압회로 부품에 측정값을 입력하여 실제 조건과 유사한 동특성을 나타내는 전방차축 현가요인 시뮬레이션 모델을 개발하였다. 개발된 시뮬레이션 모델을 이용하여 실제 시험조건과 같은 가진 조건을 부여하여 개발 현가장치의 특성 값 변동에 따른 현가 성능을 구명하였다. 이를 위해 시뮬레이션 상에서 120 마력 트랙터 무게의 50% 수준에 해당하는 2,000 kg의 부하가 존재하는 상태에서 현가장치의 유/무에 따른, 감쇠 계수의 변화에 따른 스프링상 질량의 RMS 가속도를 비교하였다. 입력 가진으로는 1 Hz, 4 Hz, 8 Hz의 진동수에 각각 10 mm, 6.4 mm, 3.2 mm의 진폭을 인가하였다. 시뮬레이션 결과, 1 Hz에서는 현가장치가 있는 경우 최대 55.9% 개선되었고, 4 Hz에서는 최대 3.9 % 개선되었고, 8 Hz에서는 최대 61.4%까지 개선되었다. 이는 4 Hz의 경우에는 2,000 kg의 부하에 해당하는 고유 진동수 대역에 해당하기 때문에 그 감쇠 효과가 없는 것으로 나타났다. 하지만, 다른 주파수 대역에서는 현가장치가 효과적으로 작동하는 것을 나타내었다. 설계한 전방차축 현가 유압회로부를 시뮬레이션을 통하여 분석한 결과, RMS 가속도의 개선이 명확하게 이루어지는 것을 확인하였으며 입력 주파수 변화에 따라 감쇠특성도 나타나는 것을 확인하였다. 추후 연구에는 설계한 유압회로부와 관련 부품을 설계 제작하여 실제 트랙터에 장착 그 성능을 검증할 예정이며, 노면조건에 따라 감쇠성능을 유지하기 위한 반능동형 또는 적응형 현가장치 제어 기술을 적용하여 개선된 현가성능을 확보하기 위한 연구를 수행할 예정이다.

  • This paper presents a high efficiency, PSM/DCM/CCM triple mode boost DC-DC converter for mobile application. This device operates at Pulse-Skipping Mode(PSM) when it enters light load, and otherwise operate the operating frequency of 1.4MHz with Pulse-Width Modulation(PWM) mode. Especially in order to improve the efficiency during the Discontinuous-Conduction Mode(DCM) operation period, the reverse current prevention circuit and oscillations caused by the inductor and the parasitic capacitor to prevent the Ringing killer circuit is added. The input voltage of the boost converter ranges from 2.5V ~ 4.2V and it generates the output of 4.8V. The measurement results show that the boost converter provides a peak efficiency of 92% on CCM and 87% on DCM. And an efficiency-improving PWM operation raises the efficiency drop because of transition from PWM to PFM. The converter has been fabricated with a 0.18um Dongbu BCDMOS technology.

Power Factor Compensation System based on Voltage-controlled Method for 3-phase 4-wire Power System (3상 4선식 전력계통에서 전압제어 방식의 역률보상시스템)

  • In this paper, a novel power factor compensation system based on voltage-controlled method is proposed for 3-phase 4-wire power system. The proposed voltage-controlled power factor compensation system generates a reactive power required for compensation by applying a variable output voltage by a slidac to a capacitor. In conventional power factor compensation system using the capacitor bank method, the power factor compensation error occurs depending on the load condition due to the limited capacity of the capacitors. However, the proposed system compensates the power factor up to 100% without error. In this paper, we have developed a voltage-controlled power factor compensation system and a control algorithm for 3-phase 4-wire power system, and verify its performance through simulation and experiments. If the proposed power factor compensation system is applied to an industrial field, a power factor compensation performance can be maximized. As a result, it is possible to reduce of electricity prices, reduce of line loss, increase of load capacity, ensure the transmission margin capacity, and reduce the amount of power generation.
