  • Purpose: This study aimed to compare and assess whether there was a relation between self-reported symptom and stereopsis in viewing an anaglyph 3D and a general 2D image. Methods: Seventy subjects (38 males, 32 females) were students ranging in age from 20 to 30 years. Subjects' symptoms were investigated by a questionnaire after viewing the 2D image and the anaglyph 3D image using red-green glasses for 30 minutes. Titmus circles and TNO stereopsis tests were performed before and after the images. A correlation between symptom and stereopsis was evaluated. Results: Both ocular and nonocular symptom in viewing 3D image were higher than those in 2D image. Titmus circles stereopsises using polarized filters were not changed before and after viewing images, but TNO stereopsises using color filters such as red-green glasses were increased after viewing 3D image. Ocular symptom and TNO stereopsis were increased after viewing 3D image, and there was a good correlation between them (r=0.605). Conclusions: Better stereopsises before viewing 3D are relatively lower ocular symptoms in viewing 3D image. But symptoms are increased in viewing anaglyph 3D image for a short-time and improvement of TNO steropsis is poorly associated with the relief of ocular symptoms. This tendency seems to be related with an adaptation to anaglyph 3D image with red-green glasses.

  • In this paper, The study was conducted on the method to roughly determine the area and length of the multi-utility tunnel before the planning and design phase of the multi-utility tunnel construction. For this purpose, four feasibility indexes were used: traffic density, population density, disaster prevention index (number of workers), and urbanization rate, which reflect the regional characteristics. The installation criteria were set in consideration of the average value and minimum value of the feasibility indexes for the tunnel type among areas that can be installed in the multi-utility tunnel of Seoul. The analysis area included 200 areas based on 14 zones. The results of the analysis based on the minimum value of feasibility indexes indicated that the tunnel type of multi-utility tunnel is suitable for 39 areas with high traffic volume and population. On the other hand, the 'gun' area, etc., has a wider population than the 'si' and 'gu', suggesting that it is not suitable to install multi-utility tunnel. In addition, it can be seen that the larger the index value centered on the minimum value of each index, the smaller the tunnel type of multi-utility tunnel installation area.

  • This paper aims to explore the viability of a rural-industrial complex neighbouring in the metropolitan area and suggest policy implications for the restructuring of the rural industrial complex. In particular, the paper focuses on the location and management practices of the firms operating in the industrial complex. Research shows that the key elements of the viability of the rural industrial complex in Koryung-Gun are the geographical and relational proximities to the metropolitan city of Daegu and the decentralization of urban industries towards rural areas neighbouring in the large city as a result of the deterioration of location conditions in the large city. It is revealed that the major pull factors of location are 'availability of cheap industrial sites', 'agglomeration in a specialized industry' and 'proximity to major customers and suppliers' rather than 'availability of labour pool'. However, it shows that 'weak university-industry linkages' and 'insufficiency of cooperation culture' are the major limitations to attracting firms. In the context of pub1ic policy, the author argues that the restructuring of the rural industrial complex should be sought to promote social infrastructures centered on networks and learning rather than firm centered financial and tax incentives.

  • This paper aims to analyze the changes of the population distribution of metropolitan area by the development of the new town-type innovative city, focusing on the case of the Daegu Innovative City. Using dataset in the survey of population trend and the migration statistics microdata provided by the Statistics Korea, we decomposed population changes of Daegu and surrounding regions into natural increase and social increases(net migration). As a result of the analysis, Dong-gu, where the Daegu Innovation City is located, experienced population growth due to its increase of net migration, whereas the total population in Daegu been decreasing continuously between 2007 and 2016. In particular, the occurrence of high net migration to Dong-gu in 2014 showed a pattern consistent with the completion of the Daegu Innovative City development and the relocation of government institutions from the Seoul metro area. As a result of analyzing the migration to Dong-gu, the population moved from the Seoul metro area was 6.9% of the total, while the population moving from the other 7 gu-gun areas in Daegu (35.8%) and the surrounding regions (8.2%) were significantly high. In particular, the migration to Dong-gu were from neighboring areas, such as Suseong-gu, Buk-gu and Gyeongsan-si. Therefore, the development of the new town-type innovative city could accelerate toward sprawling urban structure.

  • Approximate composition and physicochemical properties of 7 cultivars of persimmon peel, by product of dried-persimmon, were examined. The content of crude fiber were different according to cultivars. Glucose, fructose and sucrose were isolated by HPLC; also, myristic, palmitic, palmitoleic, oleic and linolenic acid were the major fatty acids in persimmon peel. Total and free amino acid were 241.32-371.45 mg/100 g and 3.69-28.31 mg/100 g, respectively; also, aspartic and glutamic acid were the predominant amino acids, reaching a level between 19.6 and 24.8% of total amino acids. Insoluble dietary fiber content(34.89-50.76 g/100 g) was remarkably higher than soluble dietary fiber (2.44-7.09 g/100 g). Total carotenoids were in the range of 179.4-340.6 mg/100 g, and total phenolic compounds ranged from 44.07-196.98 mg/100 g, showing differences between cultivars.

  • A study on how the condition of farmland influences operating efficiency of a tractor came up with the following results in the primary experiment. (1) $10m{\times}30m$ plot of which length is shortest in this experiment, took a maximum of required time per onea plow, whereas $20m{\times}120m$ plot, whose length is longest in the same experiment, took a minimum of required time per one a to plow. It reveals, accordingly, that the proportion between width and length should be 1:6; the most desirable proportion that proves to most profitable in terms of time. (2) All the available efforts were made to diminish some unplowed parts of plot to a minimum. It was revealed, however, in the experiment that the ratio of unplowed plot leads to 7.52% in the plot 6; the highest ratio, and 3.44% in the plot 1; the lowe ratio. That shows us that the ratio of availability of land be higher in a more rectangular plot. (3) But even a rectangular plot allows lower ratio of availability in case that the width is narrow. It is showed that a higher ratio of availability can be obtained in when the width of plot is more than 20 meters at minimum. (4) In the operation of plowing by using a tracter, It was also revealed that we could not but have a quite a considerable loss in terms of both the ratio of availability and the required tine for plowing unless we maks a plan to with the unplowed part of plot.

  • Based on basic characteristics of urban disasters and their data availabilities in Korea, this study provides risk assessment models which are derived from Cheongju examples. In specific, the application models are confined to fire, facility and escape risk survey results in the paper. For the assessment criteria, major independent variables for the categories of fire include both the frequency levels and the amount of damage. And the degree of facility risk assessment is heavily hinged on both the weighted values of key facilities and their weighted rank-sizes. In the same context, the degree of escape risk assessment is hinged on both the weighted values and the amount of the classification of land. From the empirical configuration, this paper presents that the potential figure of fire risk is relatively higher in the built-up areas within the existing Central Business District where accommodates a number of dilapidated housing units and community-supportive facilities. In contrast, the potential figure of facility and escape risk is higher in both old residential areas and the newly-built apartment complex. In short, the CBD and its neighboring residential areas record a high potential figure in terms of total risk, juxtaposing fire, facility and escape risk all together.

  • In this paper, we found out the objective refractive errors, the full corrective refractive powers, and the prescriptions for 64 males and 36 females aged 18 to 26 years. To increase the unaided visual acuity 0.1 to the aided visual acuity 1.0 with the glasses, we needed the spherical equivalent refractive power of -3.00D for male and -2.91D for female respectively. To increase the unaided visual acuity 0.5 to the aided visual acuity 1.0 with the glasses, we needed the spherical equivalent refractive power of -0.5D for male and -1.38D for female respectively. Comparing unaided visual acuity and corrective refractive power, the more one has refractive error the less one has unaided visual acuity but these are not linear relationships. Comparing objective refractive error figures, full corrective refractive power figures and prescriptions, objective refractive error figures are the hightest, followed by full corrective refractive power figures. Prescriptions compared with the other two are lower. The cylindrical refractive powers are less than -2.50D. In this study, with the rule astigmatism is dominant over against the rule astigmatism and oblique astigmatism. The accommodation measured by push up method is 6.75D~10.04D for male and 7.50D~9.60D for female respectively.

  • Purpose: The aims of this study were to investigate the stereoacuity and subjective symptoms of aniseikonia with prescription of the size lens. Methods: Participants were myopic anisometropia patients with the binocular refraction difference between 1.75 D~3.50 D. Inclusion criteria of participants were no ocular pathology, no amblyopia, more than 1.0 of corrected visual acuity. With fully corrected spectacles and a correction with the size lens, Awaya aniseikonia test and Randot Stereo test were conducted respectively. In addition, subjective symptoms were also examined using questionnaire. Results: As the anisometropia increased, the aniseikonia increased. Under the anisometropia with same refractive correction was different for each individual. The prescription of size lens caused less aniseikonia than the general prescription of glasses. In addition, prescription of the size lens improved stereoacuity and relieved the symptoms of asthenopia. Conclusions: The prescription of size lens that can correct aniseikonia with prescription of glasses can improve stereoacuity and reduced asthenopia.
