  • Dye-sensitized solar cells (DSSCs) have attracted great attention as sustainable energy devices. The efficiency and long-term stability of DSSCs are greatly influenced by electrode materials and electrolytes. In this review, we focused on the electrolytes of DSSCs. Polymer electrolyte membranes have been proposed as an alternative to conventional liquid electrolytes in DSSCs. Conventional liquid electrolytes can exhibit a high efficiency, but due to some problems such as poor long-term stability of device and leakage of liquid, much interest in polymer electrolyte membranes continues to rise and the papers on polymer electrolytes membranes have been extensively reported recently. This review covers the concept and development of polymer electrolyte membranes for DSSCs, and discusses the efficiency and electrochemical properties of DSSCs, highlighting the modification of polymer matrix, the introduction of additives such as organic-inorganic plasticizers and ionic liquids.

  • The aims of this study are to identify levels of diabetes self-care activities and find associated factors of the elderly with Type 2 diabetes. The participants for this study were 264 elderly Koreans over 65 years old who visited one general hospital in S city in South Korea for their medical treatment. In the results, there are few statistically significant differences in general characteristics and disease related variables according with diabetes self-care activities (DSCA). DSCA showed negative correlation with depression (r=-.278, p=.033) and positive correlation with ADLs(r=.310, p=.013)and IADLs(r=.415, p=.001). Therefore, the findings of this study suggest implementing self-care activities to the elderly with diabetes based on their psychological factors (depression) and functional capacities (ADL and IADL). In addition, the advanced research will be needed for developing tailored nursing educations and interventions to improve diabetes self-care activities of elderly patients.

  • A concrete embedded antenna design is proposed for probing the durability of a building at an industrial scientific medical band of 902~908 MHz. The proposed antenna is designed with a stacked slot patch structure for lower impedance variation to a dielectric constant of concrete, as a dielectric constant difference is derived from the moisture content. The proposed structure has a wider bandwidth when a parasitic patch structure is used, which reduces antenna performance degradation resulting from the moisture content of concrete. The measured voltage standing wave ratio of the proposed structure is less than 2 and the beam width is approximately $80^{\circ}$, whereas the gain is greater than 7 dBi. The proposed antenna is fabricated with a rectangle-type concrete block, which is simulated and measured for return loss and antenna gain.
