  • The aims of this study were to evaluate the prevalence of dysphagia in patients hospitalized with acute stroke and to identify factors associated with dysphagia. The study was conducted in a tertiary hospital and a total of 131 patients hospitalized with acute stroke (aged 34-92 years old, 58.0% male) were enrolled. The prevalence of dysphagia was 24.4% out of 131 participants and risk factors associated with dysphagia were age, neurological severity, oral health status, and dependence in activity of daily living of participants. Considering the long-term rehabilitation trajectory, it is necessary to apply the early screening and preventive nursing intervention for dysphagia during acute stage of stroke patient.

  • Olfactory dysfunction is one of the most common complaints of patients with chronic rhinosinusitis. Patients who suffer from olfactory dysfunction report a negative effect on their overall quality of life. Chronic rhinosinusitis-related olfactory impairment is the most treatable form of olfactory disorder; however, outcomes after endoscopic sinus surgery (ESS) are challenging to predict. Previous studies have documented a wide range in overall improvement after ESS. The purpose of this study is to review the factors that predict changes in olfaction after ESS.

  • Traditional casting methods require long production lead time and high cost while not accommodating design changes easily. One of the technological alternatives to improve casting method to meet diversifying needs is Additive Manufacturing (AM). Among the 7 AM techniques, Powder Bed Fusion (PBF) is deemed most appropriate for casting applications. Currently, most AM machines are imported; therefore limiting the scope of available services and applications. This paper explores the domestic development of AM machines as well as the applications in casting. Each chapter describes development phases of PBF machines, applicable materials and parameter settings, while the last chapter illustrates a successful case of additive manufacturing industrial casting cores.

  • We isolated endophytic fungi from the leaves of woody plants inhabiting the Ulleungdo Island and Yeosu in South Korea. The fungal strains were identified based on their morphological characteristics in conjunction with phylogenetic analysis, which was performed using sequences of the internal transcribed spacer, large subunit rDNA, and β-tubulin DNA. We confirmed the presence of Neofusicoccum mangiferae and Thyronectria cucurbitula, two endophytic fungal species that had not been previously recorded in Korea. In this report, we describe the morphological characteristics of these fungal strains and results of the DNA-based phylogenetic analysis.

  • An airbreathing propulsion system of a subsonic cruise missile is mainly composed of a small gas turbine engine, air intake and vehicle's fuel tank. The propulsion system integration work started from engine acceptance test is finally closed by ground functional test of the missile's propulsion section, after some modifications of engine's sub-components, development of engine-related onboard systems, interface analyses, and tests. The whole process and stepwise technologies of this system integration work are described herein.

  • There have been two methods of estimating computer related security risk such as qualitative and quantitative methods which have distinctive advantages or disadvantages. The former is too narrative and somehow abstract to implement and the latter produces concrete result but needs lots of data, so that it is needed to develop a method overcoming such difficulties. It is advised to mix such two methods in a proper way depending on the conditions of a computer system. In this article, a concept of fuzzy number is employed on the way of mixing the two methods and provide a simple example using fuzzy numbers. Simulation was conducted for an assumed model system and it is demonstrated how to calculated expected and unexpected risk.

  • This paper proposes on the implementation method of depth of field effect based on backward mapping method available in real-time rendering enviroment using calculation of sampling range based on standard normal distribution and alpha blending of color of layers. To implement the effect, this paper describe how to calculate radius of circle of confusion, establish sampling radius using circle of confusion, and determine color through alpha blending of the multiple layer and denoising.

  • The aim of this study was to identify the performance and requirements of the visiting nursing care using Omaha system in public health center. The highest performance were 'personal hygiene', 'pain', 'medication regimen', 'nutrition', 'physical activity', 'sanitation', 'sleep and rest patterns', 'oral hygiene', 'mental health' in order. The lowest performance were 'sexuality', 'postpartum', 'income', 'family planning', 'pregnancy', 'spirituality', 'abuse', 'reproductive function', 'neglect' in order. Problems such as 'postpartum', 'pregnancy' and 'family planning' need to strengthen the role of visiting nurses according to the region. this result will be the basis for visitung nursing care.

  • The purpose of this study is descriptive survey to quality of life by dry eyes experience in university students. The Korean version of the National eye institute visual functioning questionnaire (NEI-VFQ) was used to evaluate the quality of life. As a result of the study, 18.4% of the participants were diagnosed with dry eyes, and 63.2% experienced subjective dry eyes experience. The findings showed that the factors influencing the visual quality of life was wearing glasses, and the explanatory power for this 13.6%. Further research is needed considering the length of wearing glasses, contact lenses and severity of dry eyes.

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate between communication competence, academic self-efficacy, satisfaction of clinical practice and self-leadership of nursing students and to identify the factors affecting self-leadership. The subjects of the study were 156 third graders who are attending nursing university in G city. Self-leadership has a significant positive correlation with communication competence, academic self-sufficiency, satisfaction of clinical practice. Communication competence, academic self-efficacy, and satisfaction of clinical practice were identified as variables influencing the self-leadership of nursing students. This study show that the factors affecting the self-leadership of nursing students can be helpful in the application of nursing education and programs.
