A Study of the Development Safety Criteria for Hybrid Electrical Propulsion Fishing Boats (전기복합 추진어선의 안전기준 개발에 관한 연구)

  • Ships emit significant amounts of air pollution. To reduce ship emissions, the government has implemented the Eco-Friendly Ship Act to improve the marine air environment, under which the use of eco-friendly ships that use eco-friendly energy as a power source encouraged and technologies to reduce marine pollution are developed. Therefore, the revision of relevant laws and systems such as inspection and facility standards for the safe operation of eco-friendly ships is urgently needed, especially those for fishing vessels, which account for the majority of domestic coastal vessels. This study defines the core equipment for the application of electric complex propulsion systems to fishing boats and presents a minimum safety standard plan for the adoption and dissemination of eco-friendly fishing boats.

  • 신곡수중보는 한강종합개발사업(1982년~1986년) 중 하도정비로 인하여 상시 수위가 저하됨으로써 조수의 과도한 역류 등으로 발생하는 이수상의 문제점을 해결하고 상류에 설치된 잠실수중 보 사이의 수위유지 및 하천 공간 이용의 극대화, 연안 농경지의 용수공급 및 하천환경 보전을 목적으로 건설되어, 「잠실 및 신곡수중보 관리규정(1986)」 및 「신곡수중보 운영 매뉴얼」에 의해 관리·운영되고 있다. 신곡수중보는 준공된 이래로 한강하류의 흐름 해석에 있어 중요한 기준과 경계로서 이와 관련한 다양한 연구가 진행되었다. 신곡수중보로 인한 흐름의 변화가 하상과 생태에 미치는 영향에 관한 연구와 하구역에서의 조위 및 흐름특성과 밀도류의 거동에 관한 1, 2차원 수치해석연구가 활발히 진행되었다. 본 연구에서는 그동안 1, 2차원 수치해석연구로 한정되었던 신곡수중보 흐름특성에 관련하여 실제 수문 운영 방식을 반영한 3차원 수치해석을 수행하여 구조물의 상·하류에서 발생하는 와류 및 이차류와 같은 3차원적 흐름 구조와 이에 따른 지형의 침식·퇴적 및 구조물에 미치는 영향 등을 구체적으로 분석하였다. 우선, 신곡수중보 운영 매뉴얼과 실제 가동보 운영시스템을 비교하여 수문개방 시기, 유량 기준의 수문 운영 방법, 수위 변화에 따른 수문 운영 방법, 수문개방 순서를 분석하고 신곡수중보 주변 흐름에 대한 3차원 수치해석모형 구축을 위한 경계조건을 산정하였다. 수치해석에는 상용프로그램인 FLOW-3D를 사용하였으며, 경계처리기법 및 난류해석을 위해 FAVOR 기법과 RNG k-ε 모델을 적용하였다. 수문 동시개방 개수, 수문 개방 위치 및 순서, 개방 높이에 대한 조건을 변화시켜 구성한 시나리오에 대해 수치해석 후, 유속, 난류에너지, 이차류 등의 흐름특성을 분석하고 상·하류 수위차에 따른 방류량을 산정하여 시설물의 관리안을 도출하고 운영 매뉴얼의 개정안을 제시하였다.

Study of tsunami sensitivity analysis to fault parameters for probabilistic tsunami hazard analysis (확률론적 지진해일 재해도 분석(PTHA)을 위한 단층 파라미터에 대한 지진해일의 민감도 분석)

  • 우리나라 동해 연안에 영향을 미쳤던 역사지진들과 일본에서 진행된 동해에서의 대규모지진에 관한 조사검토회에서 2014년에 보고된 동해 동연부와 남해 남연부 측에 있는 60개의 지진공백역들에 대한 단층매개변수들이 공개되어있어 수치실험을 통해 지진해일의 재해도를 분석하고 있다. 하지만 이러한 단층매개변수 값들에 대한 불확실성이 존재하기에 이를 대비한 지진해일 대책을 세울 필요가 있다. 단층매개변수의 불확실성을 고려하는 방법 중 한 가지는 해당 변수들을 조정하여 Case 모델들을 다양화하는 것이다. 이 때 매개변수의 변동에 대한 기준이 필요하기에 단층매개변수에 대한 민감도 분석이 진행되어야 한다. 본 연구의 최종목표는 지진해일에 대한 위험성에 대비하기 위해 선정된 연구지역에 대하여 단층매개변수들을 조정한 경우별 모델들을 사용한 수치모형 실험을 실행한 후 도출된 지진해일 처오름높이 및 처내림높이 결과를 분석하여 각 단층매개 변수의 지진해일에 대한 민감도를 결정하는 것이며, 최종적으로 확률론적 지진해일 재해도분석(Probabilistic Tsunami Hazard Analysys : PTHA)을 실시할 때 기준이 되는 로직트리를 작성할 때 명확한 근거를 제시한다. 단층매개변수의 민감도 분석은 일본(Goda et al., 2014), 미국(Sepúlveda and Liu, 2016), 뉴질랜드(D. Burbridge et al., 2015) 등에서 연구가 활발하게 이루어졌으며 현재도 활발한 연구가 진행되고 있다. 민감도 분석 과정은 먼저 역사 지진해일과 우리나라 근해에 영향을 미칠 수 있는 지진해일의 단층매개변수 조사한 후 파향선추적모형(wave ray-tracing)의 결과를 정리하여 대상 지역에 영향을 미치는 단층을 선정하고, 선정한 단층들의 단층매개변수 값을 일정한 기준을 두고 조정하여 실시한 지진해일 수치모형 실험에서 계산한 결과값을 분석하여 민감도를 결정한다.

Development of the sediment transport model using GPU arithmetic (GPU 연산을 활용한 유사이송 예측모형 개발)

  • Many shorelines are facing the beach erosion. Considering the climate change and the increment of coastal population, the erosion problem could be accelerated. To address this issue, developing a sediment transport model for rapidly predicting terrain change is crucial. In this study, a sediment transport model based on GPU parallel arithmetic was introduced, and it was supposed to simulate the terrain change well with a higher computing speed compared to the CPU based model. We also aim to investigate the model performance and the GPU computational efficiency. We applied several dam break cases to verified model, and we found that the simulated results were close to the observed results. The computational efficiency of GPU was defined by comparing operation time of CPU based model, and it showed that the GPU based model were more efficient than the CPU based model.

  • Recently, RFID/USN technology has been applied in various fields such as logistics, environment, education, home network, disaster prevention, military, and medical care, but despite the remarkable development of RFID/USN technology, it is difficult to apply it to marine industry due to the characteristics of poor marine environment. Therefore, satellites are mainly used in the marine sector, and existing communication networks are used in the coast, so measures for forming a shelf-only short-range network in the ocean are being considered. In this paper, we consider the use of drones as mobile base stations of USN as a base station role using USN in existing PS-LTE and LTE networks.Since autonomous navigation vessels are aiming for the intelligent system, the number of crew and labor force should be reduced and the function of autonomous network formation in the form of more stable and intelligent ICT convergence technology should be strengthened.

Catch status of the giant pacific octopus, Enterocotpus dofleini, by drift line fishery in the central coast of the East Sea, Korea (동해 중부연안에 서식하는 대문어(Enteroctopus dofleini) 흘림낚시의 어획실태에 관한 연구)

  • Giant pacific octopus, Enteroctopus dofleini, is a large mollusk distributed in the East Sea of Korea. In this study, the catch status of giant pacific octopus by drift line fishery and the effect of sea temperature on fishing ground were investigated in Goseong-gun, Gangwon-do, which is the central coast of the East Sea. The average catch of giant pacific octopus in Gangwon-do was 1,570 tons over the past ten years, and it accounted for 21% in 2008 and 44% in 2021 compared to the total catch in the East Sea during the same period. Such data indicates that the catch in Gangwon-do has recently increased. In this study area, giant pacific octopus weighing 1.1-5.0 kg dominated accounting for 56% of the total individuals, and followed by those weighing 1 kg or less. However, the ratio of catch of giant pacific octopus over 5.1 kg tended to increase in 2021, which is thought to be related to the sea temperature that affected the fishing ground. The main depth of fishing ground was from 21 m to 50 m in this area and fishing grounds were widely distributed throughout the season except summer. Fishing ground was formed with the conditions of bottom sea temperature under 10℃ and was diminished by moving of giant pacific octopus to deeper depth with conditions of bottom sea temperature over 18℃.

Design comparison of Fixed Offshore Structures Designed by WSD and LRFD Methods (허용응력설계법 및 하중저항계수설계법에 의한 고정식 해양구조물 설계결과 비교 )

  • When designing fixed jacket structures, overseas design standards are applied due to the absence of domestic design methods. Although the US API standards are mainly applied, API RP 2A suggests two design methods: the allowable stress design method (WSD) and the load resistance coefficient method (LRFD), and is applied according to the designer's judgment. In this study, the stress ratio of the two design methods was reviewed and compared using SACS, an analysis program dedicated to marine structures, for fixed marine structures actually installed on the domestic coast. As a result of the review, it was found that the LRFD design method showed a greater stress ratio for extreme load analysis and transportation analysis, and the WSD design method showed a greater stress ratio for loading and lifting. Therefore, when applying the design method, it is considered appropriate to select the final design method considering safety and economic feasibility after conducting an applicability review for the two design methods.

A study on the status of octopus pot fishery in the coastal seas of Gyeongbuk, Korea (우리나라 경북 연안해역 문어통발 어업실태에 관한 연구)

  • In this study, the fishery status of the octopus pot fishery in the east coastal sea were investigated, and the fishing performance of each pot shape was compared and analyzed. The fishery status survey was conducted through listening surveys at Jukbyeon Port, Uljin Port and Pohang Daebo Port in Gyeongbuk Province, and the amount of fishing gear used, fishing method, size and loss of octopus pot fishery was investigated. On the east coastal sea, octopus is one of the commercially important fish stocks and is caught in inshore pots, inshore combos, inshore gillnets and offshore pots. Among these fishing methods, pot fishing yields the highest catch. The shape of the pot differs depending on the region. In Uljin (Jukbyeon Port and Hupo Port), Gyeongbuk, rectangular type net pots are mainly used, and in Pohang (Daebo Port) in Gyeongbuk, drum-type pots are mostly used. Enteroctopus dofleini accounts for more than 90% of the catch of octopus. For the octopus fishing performance test by trap type, three types of traps (rectangular pot, drum pot and cylinder pot) were used on the coastal sea of Pohang Daebo. As a result, the total catch by pot shape was shown in the order of rectangular-type pot > drum-type pot > cylinder-type pot. The catch of octopus, the target species, was in the following order: rectangular-type pot > drum-type pot > cylinder-type pot. Such result shows a significant difference (Mann-Whitney test, p<0.05).

  • A hydrodynamic numerical model, ESCORT, which enables wetting-and-drying simulation, is developed. The model is verified by applying it at the Mokpo coastal zone together with the MIKE21 model. This paper deals in only 2-dimensional aspects remaining 3-dimensional function for further research. To begin with, MIKE21 model is applied at the whole area where MIKE21 had been applied several times to produce boundary conditions for the main area. Unlike the whole area of uniform grid, main area adopts telescoping grid for ESCORT model and nested grid for MIKE21 model. The results of both model show not only good agreement for the values of water depth and tidal velocity between computed and observed ones, but also plausible wetting-and-drying simulation. However, ESCORT model needs some improvement of efficiency.

Benefit Cost Analysis on Mitigation of Environmental Impacts Using Contingent Valuation Method : The Kwangyang Habor Case (환경저감화 시설에 대한 비용편인분석 : 광양만 사례연구)

  • This study is to investigate the effect of environmental mitigation in relation to the construction of quay structures for containers and to estimate economic values of environment-friendly structures using CVM. The result shows that the B/C ratio of environment-friendly quay structures designed to mitigate environmental impact is 4. That is, environmental improvement work proves to generate environmental benefit over 4 times as much as the construction cost. Considering the results of the study, environmental improvement work is of great benefit to citizens, and CVM is expected to become an efficient method to measure a proper size for a large construction project as well as to forge public consensus.
