In this study, a series of ionic liquids based electrolytes for lithium batteries were prepared by mixing the anion functionalized ionic liquid, [DMIm][MPEGP] (1,3-dimethylimidazolium (2-methoxy(2-ethoxy(2-ethoxy)))-ethylphosphite), with the lithium salt, LiTf2N (lithium bis(trifluoromethanesulfonyl)imide), and the concentration of lithium salt was varied between 0 and 3.0 molar ratio. We observed the ionic mixtures became opaque and spontaneously aggregated to form a thermotropic ionic liquid crystal. Extensive spectroscopic examinations of the ionic liquid crystals were carried out to investigate their self-organized structures and the ion transport behavior depending on the concentration of lithium salt. An increase in the ionic conductivity was observed for the ionic liquid crystals related to the ability to form ion diffusion pathways along the ordered structures, resulting in improved electrochemical performances of lithium batteries.
In this study, poly(vinylidene fluoride-co-hexafluoropropylene) (PVdF-HFP)-based gel polymer electrolyte incorporating nano-size $Al_2O_3$ ceramic particle was prepared by electrospinning. The gel polymer electrolyte (GPE) incorporated with $Al_2O_3$ ceramic particle showed higher ionic conductivity of $9.5{\times}10^{-2}Scm^{-1}$ than pure PVdF-HFP GPE without ceramic particle and improved the electrochemical stability up to 5.2 V. The GPEs were assembled with $LiNi_{1/3}Mn_{1/3}Co_{1/3}O_2$ (NMC) cathode for electrochemical test. The GPE batteries at 0.1 C-rate delivered $168.2mAh\;g^{-1}$ for pure GPE and $189.6mAh\;g^{-1}$ for hybrid GPE, respectively. Therefore, the incorporation of high dielectric constant ceramic particle will be good strategy to enhance the stability and electrochemical properties of lithium ion gel polymer batteries.
The use of lithium metal anode at lithium metal secondary battery can provide the very high energy density. Nevertheless, there are some problems that are short cycle life, lack of safety and poor thermal stability. Cycle life and cycling efficiency decline due to passivating films, dendritic lithium and increasing surface film by the reaction of lithium metal and electrolyte. This work investigated the additive effect of benzene, toluene, tetram-ethylethylenediamine, into the electrolyte. The cycling efficiency and cyclability are improved. The reason is confirmed by decreasing film resistance and increasing polarization resistance at AC impedance analysis. Electrolyte additive has a relatively less reactivity than electrolytes lithium and is adsorbed on lithium leading to suppression of the reaction between the electrolyte and lithium as well as an improvement in the lithium deposition mophology.

Magnetic abrasive polishing is an advanced deburring process for nonmagnetic materials and micropattern products that have non-machinability characteristics. Despite these advantages, there are some problems with using MAP for deburring. MAP has introduced geometric errors into microgrooves because of an over-cutting force caused by uncontrolled magnetic abrasives in the MAP tool. Thus, in this study, to solve this problem, an EP (electrolyte polishing)-MAP hybrid polishing process was developed for deburring microgrooves in an STS316 material. In addition, an evaluation of EP-MAP for the deburring of microgrooves was carried out by profiling the burrs. The results of the experiment showed geometric errors after the deburring process using MAP. However, in the case of EP-MAP, no geometric error was observed after the process because of the lower material removal rate in EP-MAP.

A porous $TiO_2$ pellet was electrochemically converted to the metallic titanium by using a $CaCl_2$ molten salt system at $850^{\circ}C$. Ni-$TiO_2$ and graphite electrodes were used as cathode and anode, respectively. The electrochemical behaviour of $TiO_2$ pellet was determined by a constant voltage control electrolysis. Various reaction intermediates such as $CaTiO_3$, $Ti_2O$ and $Ti_6O$ were observed by XRD analysis during electrolysis of the pellet. Once $TiO_2$ pellet was converted to a porous metallic structure, the porous structure disappeared by sintering and shrinking with increasing the reaction time at high temperature.
A new gel polymer electrolyte based on the modified polyacrylonitrile (PAN), polyacrylonitrile-co-bis[2-(2-methoxyethoxy)ethyl]itaconate (abbreviated as PANI) copolymer was synthesized in expectation of enhanced trapping ability of liquid electrolytes. PAN and PANI blend was complexed with organic solvents, ethylene carbonate (EC) and dimethyl carbonate (DMC), and $LiClO_4$ salt. The highest room temperature conductivity of $2\times10^{-3}\;Scm^{-1}$ was found for a film of 25PAN+10PANl+50EC/DMC+$15LiClO_4$. The solvent-rich crystalline part decreases due to the blending of PANI and therefore number of charge carriers increases giving higher ionic conductivity. The addition of PAM as a host polymer in the PAN-based gels has beneficial effects such as higher ionic conductivity, better thermal characteristics, better miscibility with solvent, wider electrochemical stability, and better interfacial stability with lithium electrode, though it exhibits slightly less mechanical rigidity.
Titanium is widely used as an implant material due to its excellent biocompatibility, but has a problem due to high cost and high Young's modulus compared to bone. Magnesium alloy is attracting attention as a material to replace it. Magnesium alloy, like titanium, has excellent biocompatibility and has a Young's modulus similar to that of bone. However, there are corrosion resistance problems due to corrosion, and various surface treatment methods are being studied to solve them. In this study, the ceramic coating layer was grown on the surface of the AZ31 magnesium alloy in an electrolytic solution containing EDTA, and the properties of the formed coating were analyzed through SEM and XRD to analyze the microstructure and shape, and measured the micro hardness of the coating layer. Corrosion properties in the body were evaluated through a corrosion test in SBF solution, a component similar to blood plasma.
Solid polymer electrolytes were prepared by UV irradiation of the blends consisting of poly(ethylene oxide)(PEO), epoxy diacrylate(EDA) and LiClO_4$. Conductivities of the electrolyte films were measured as a function or blend composition, salt concentration and temperature. The electrolyte having the composition of poly(ethylene oxide) (70% by weight)/epoxy diacrylate (30% by weight) with mole ratio of 10 of ethylene $oxide/Li^+$ exhibited a high ionic conductivity of $1.2{\times}10^{-5} S/cm$ at $25^{\circ}C$. This blend is transparent and shows elastomeric properties. Morphological studies by means of differential scanning calorimetry, X-ray diffraction and polarized optical microscopy indicated that the cured epoxy chains in the blends inhibit the crystallization of poly (ethylene oxide) and thereby induce the blend systems to be completely amorphous in certain compositions.
Electrolyzed-acid water was used to prolong shelf life of salted Chinese cabbage during storage, Chinese cabbage was salted, washed twice with electrolyzed-acid water, packaged in high-density polyethylene film, and stored at $10^{\circ}C$. Titratable acidity, pH, color, and microbial loads of salted Chinese cabbage were measured. Treated sample showed lower pH, total microbial count, and lactic acid bacteria than those of control, whereas almost equal titratable acidity and color, Acidity of treated sample maintained lower pH value until 6 days, and remained constant thereafter, Sharp decrease in L value occured after 2 days for control, and was delayed 4-6 days for treated sample. Salted Chinese cabbage treated with electrolyzed-acid water showed lower total microbial load ($10^3\;CFU/mL$) and lactic acid bacteria ($10^1\;CFU/mL$) after washing, whereas similar loads, compared to control after 6 days. Treatment with electrolyzed-acid water maintained higher quality for salted Chinese cabbage, with limited shelf life extension.

An electrolysis system with a vertically circulating mercury capillary bundle electrode was developed with a very large electrode area in a minimum space. This system was operated by forcedly feeding mercury and aqueous solution containing metal ion into a fiber bundle packed densely within a small porous glass tube. In order to test the characteristics and stability of the electrolysis system, the reduction voltammograms of uranyl and ferric ions were measured with changes of the mercury flow rate and the aqueous flow rate. The aqueous flow rate had a large effect on the electrochemical reaction of metal ion occurring at the interface between the mercury and the aqueous solution and had to be regulated as an appropriate value to have a good limiting current shape. The limiting current was linearly proportional to the aqueous flow rate, and complete reductions of uranyl and ferric ions were rapidly and continuously accomplished at the potential showing limiting current. With a mercury flow rate high enough to keep a capillary continuum of mercury in the fiber bundle, the mercury flow rate had almost no effect on the electrochemical reaction. This system was confirmed to be effective and stable enough to control rapidly and continuously the oxidation state of metal ions fed into the system under an appropriate aqueous flow rate.
