Precise Rates in Complete Moment Convergence for Negatively Associated Sequences

  • Let {$X_n$, n ${\ge}$ 1} be a negatively associated sequence of identically distributed random variables with mean zeros and positive finite variances. Set $S_n$ = ${\Sigma}^n_{i=1}\;X_i$. Suppose that 0 < ${\sigma}^2=EX^2_1+2{\Sigma}^{\infty}_{i=2}\;Cov(X_1,\;X_i)$ < ${\infty}$. We prove that, if $EX^2_1(log^+{\mid}X_1{\mid})^{\delta}$ < ${\infty}$ for any 0< ${\delta}{\le}1$, then $\lim_{{\epsilon}\downarrow0}{\epsilon}^{2{\delta}}\sum_{{n=2}}^{\infty}\frac{(logn)^{\delta-1}}{n^2}ES^2_nI({\mid}S_n{\mid}\geq{\epsilon}{\sigma}\sqrt{nlogn}=\frac{E{\mid}N{\mid}^{2\delta+2}}{\delta}$, where N is the standard normal random variable. We also prove that if $S_n$ is replaced by $M_n=max_{1{\le}k{\le}n}{\mid}S_k{\mid}$ then the precise rate still holds. Some results in Fu and Zhang (2007) are improved to the complete moment case.

Horn-type Rudder 주위의 2 차원 난류유동 해석 (Analysis of Two-Dimensional Turbulent Flow around the Horn-type Rudder)

  • The two-dimensional turbulent flow around the horn-type rudder has been examined in the present study by using the commercial code FLUENT. The standard ${\kappa}-{\epsilon}$ model is used as a closure relationship. The geometry of horn rudder is based on the NACA 0020 airfoil. The simulations for various angle attack (${\alpha}$) and yaw angle(${\delta}$) are carried out. The effect of Reynolds number is also investigated in this study. The cavitation is more possible when the yaw angle is $6^{\circ}$ and it is more serious as Reynolds number increases.

We investigate precise asymptotics for ${\sum}_n|n|^{r/p-2}P(|S_n|\;{\geq}\;{\epsilon}|n|^{1/p}$ and ${\sum}_n\;\frac{(\log\;|n|)^{\delta}}{|n|}P(|S_n|\;{\geq}\;{\epsilon}\;\sqrt{|n|\log|n|)}$, ($0\;{\leq}\;{\delta}\;{\leq}\;1$) as ${\epsilon}{\searrow}0$.

원심형 날개를 부착한 축류홴의 유동특성 해석 (Analysis of Flow Characteristics on the Axial Flow Fan with Centrifugal Blade)

  • This study aims to propose a new model axial flow fan which attachs centrifugal blades, and to investigate the effect of centrifugal blades on the performance improvement of new model axial flow fan. A numerical simulation has been conducted using STAR-CD commercial code to solve the three dimensional incompressible Navier-Stokes equation for high Reynolds number $k-{\epsilon}$ turbulent model. Numerical simulation is carried out to investigate the detail phenomenon in the flow field and performance characteristics of new model and normal model fan. Calculation results are compared with normal model's results to investigate which centrifugal blades effect on velocity profile and pressure distribution at various flow field positions. and calculation results show that new model fan can improve the performance of total pressure.

  • 최근의 생물학적인 연구에 DNA microarray가 널리 쓰이고 있기 때문에, 이러한 DNA microarray를 구성하는데 필요한 probe design 작업의 중요성이 점차 커져가고 있다. 이 논문에서는 probe design 문제를 thermodynamic fitness function이 2개인 multi-objective optimization 작업으로 변환한 뒤, ${\epsilon}$-multiobjective evolutionary algorithm을 이용하여 probe set을 찾는다. 또한, probe 탐색공간의 크기를 줄이기 위하여 각 DNA sequence의 primer 영역을 찾는 작업을 진행하며, 사용자가 직접 프로그램을 테스트할 수 있는 웹사이트를 제공한다. 실험 대상으로는 mycoides를 선택하였으며, 이 논문에서 제안된 방법을 사용하여 성공적으로 probe set을 발견할 수 있었다.

환형제트펌프의 수치적 성능해석 (Numerical Study on The Performance of Annular Jet Pump)

  • Jet pumps are used in a great number of engineering applications. In the present study, jet shapes, mixing chamber shapes, and numerical methods for predicting the performance of an annular-type jet pump are investigated to determine the optimal turbulence model. The flow fields are simulated by solving the momentum and the continuity equations with the standard ${\kappa}-{\epsilon}$ and the RNG ${\kappa}-{\epsilon}$ turbulence models at different Reynolds numbers. After that, they are compared with the corresponding experimental data to determine the optimal model. Next, various calculations are conducted to find an optimal shape using the selected turbulence model. The study shows us that the RNG ${\kappa}-{\epsilon}$ model predicts the performance more exactly, and also shows that the most effective performance can be achieved with $12^{\circ}$ reducing angle and 130mm throat length.

  • Given operators X and Y acting on a Hilbert space H, an interpolating operator is a bounded operator A such that AX = Y. An interpolating operator for n-operators satisfies the equation $AX_i=Y_i$, for i = 1,2,...,n. In this article, we showed the following: Let L, be a subspace lattice on a Hilbert space H and let X and Y be operators in B(H). Then the following are equivalent: (1) $$sup\{\frac{{\parallel}E^{\bot}Yf{\parallel}}{{\overline}{\parallel}E^{\bot}Xf{\parallel}}\;:\;f{\epsilon}H,\;E{\epsilon}L}\}\;<\;{\infty},\;sup\{\frac{{\parallel}Xf{\parallel}}{{\overline}{\parallel}Yf{\parallel}}\;:\;f{\epsilon}H\}\;<\;{\infty}$$ and $\bar{range\;X}=H=\bar{range\;Y}$. (2) There exists an invertible operator A in AlgL such that AX=Y.

  • We investigate the condensation transition of a zero range process with jump rate g given by $g(k)=\left\{\frac{M}{k^{\alpha}},\;if\;k{\leq}an\\{\frac{1}{k^{\alpha}}},\;if\;k>an,$ (0.1), where ${\alpha}$ > 0 and a(0 < a < 1/2) is a rational number. We show that for any ${\epsilon}$ > 0, there exists $M^*$ > 0 such that, for any 0<$M{\leq}M^*$, the maximum cluster size is between ($a-{\epsilon}$)n and ($a+{\epsilon}$)n for large n.

  • Barker (1997) has argued that all the three approaches to anaphora, namely, E-type theories, Discourse Representation Theory, and Dynamic Semantics, are faced with the so-called 'double-bind' problem in the quantifier/variable-binding model of anaphora. Recently, in the same journal, Slater (2000) has claimed that the so-called epsilon account (Slater 1991, 1993, 1994, 1997) handles the problem without any difficulty. However, it will be proposed in this paper that the epsilon account has its own problems in handling the quantifier/variable-binding, and that as argued in Yoon (1998), the so-called‘conjunctive paraphrase’account is the correct solution to the problem, which is intuitively supported as well.

기피비용과 수송비용을 고려한 기피시설 입지문제 (An unwanted facility location problem with negative influence cost and transportation cost)

  • In the location science, environmental effect becomes a new main consideration for site selection. For the unwanted facility location selection, decision makers should consider the cost of resolving the environmental conflict. We introduced the negative influence cost for the facility which was inversely proportional to distance between the facility and residents. An unwanted facility location problem was suggested to minimize the sum of the negative influence cost and the transportation cost. The objective cost function was analyzed as nonlinear type and was neither convex nor concave. Three GRASP (Greedy Randomized adaptive Search Procedure) methods as like Random_GRASP, Epsilon_GRASP and GRID_GRASP were developed to solve the unwanted facility location problem. The Newton's method for nonlinear optimization problem was used for local search in GRASP. Experimental results showed that quality of solution of the GRID_GRASP was better than those of Random_GRASP and Epsilon_GRASP. The calculation time of Random_GRASP and Epsilon_GRASP were faster than that of Grid_GRASP.
