한국 남자대학생의 Iron, Copper 및 Cobalt 섭취량과 평형에 관한연구 (A study on the Intake-Balance of Iron Copper and Cobalt of College men in Korea)

  • This study measured each daily intake and excretion of iron copper and cobalt of eight 20-26 years old college men during four weeks by means of analyzing their food intake urine and feces keeping their normal living pattern and maintenance body weight. This study also compared the actual measurement value of iron intake by atomic absorption spectrophoto-meter with the conversion value of it by food table. The results were as follows. Each person's average intake daily was iron 9.19±0.32mg/day, copper 0.56±0.06mg/day and cobalt 1.86±0.18mg/day. Each person's average urinary excretion daily was iron 0.53±0.07mg/day, copper 0.07±0.03mg/day and cobalt 0.13±0.01mg/day. Each person's average fecal excretion daily was iron 1.73±0.14mg/day copper 0.16±0.01mg/day and cobalt 0.46±0.08mg/day. The actual measurement value was 9.19±0.32mg/day and its conversion value 14.07±0.29mg/day : the former was 35% lower than the latter.

도시성인 아침식사의 열량기 및 이의 영양소 섭취와 혈청 지질 수준간의 관련성 연구 (Energy Value of Breakfast and Its Relation to Total Daily Nutrient Intake and Serum Lipid in Korean Urban Adults)

  • The purpose of this study was to assess the energy value of breakfast and its relation to total daily nutrient intake and serum lipid. Dietary intakes were evaluated through the 3-day dietary recalls(interview for 1day and self-report for 2 days) from 333 Korean urban adults aged 20-49 year. Serum lipids in fasting blood samples were measured form 98 of those 333 adults. Low energy breakfast(<15% of daily energy intake) was consumed by 22.6% of males and 18.5% of females. 59.4 of males and 43.3% of females consumed a breakfast of average energy intake(15-25% daily energy intake) ; and 18.1 of males and 38.2% of females consumed a significant contribution to a total daily nutrient intake. The daily nutrient intake except crude fiber and vitamin A, B, B, and C in males and except vitamin C in females significantly increased as the energy value of breakfast increased. The differences in energy and nutrient intakes at breakfast were not made up for by other meals. To make matters worse, the satisfactory-energy breakfast group took more energy at dinner compared with the low-energy and average-energy breakfast group took more energy at dinner compared with the low-energy and average-energy breakfast groups in females. Among serum lipid parameters, TG was negatively correlated with energy provided at breakfast, and total cholesterol and LDL-cholesterol had a negative correlation with energy and carbohydrates provided at breakfast in males. For females TG was positively correlated with the ratio of carbohydrates to energy at breakfast but negatively correlated with the ratio of fat to energy at breakfast. These results suggest that satisfactory energy intakes at breakfast have positive effects on the adequacy of daily nutrient intake and may positively affect the serum lipid status.

여수항의 평균 열플럭스 (Mean Heat Flux at the Port of Yeosu)

  • Based on the monthly weather report of Korea Meteorological Administration (KMA) and daily sea surface temperature (SST) data from National Fisheries Research and Development Institute (NFRDI) (1995-2004), mean heat fluxes were estimated at the port of Yeosu. Net heat flux was transported from the air to the sea surface during February to September, and it amounts to $205 Wm^{-2}$ in daily average value in May. During October to January, the transfer of net heat flux was conversed from the sea surface to the air with $-70 Wm^{-2}$ in minimum of daily average value in December. Short wave radiation was ranged from $167 Wm^{-2}$ in December to $300 Wm^{-2}$ in April. Long wave radiation (Sensible heat) was ranged from $27 (-14) Wm^{-2}$ in July to $90 (79) Wm^{-2}$ in December. Latent heat showed $42 Wm^{-2}$ with its minimum in July and $104 Wm^{-2}$ with its maximum in October in daily average value.

일부 한국인 아동의 나트륨과 칼슘 섭취 및 배설에 관한 연구 (A Study on Intake/excretion of Sodium and Calcium in Korean Children)

  • In this study, the food intake, feces and urine of 16 primary school age boys and girls were collected and intake and excretion of sodium and calcium were measured. The boys and girls were 8-12 years old and measurement continued for four weeks during which they maintained their normal living pattern and body weight. Each boy's and girl's daily intake and excretion of sodium and calcium were measured and apparent digestibility and balance were also studied. The results were as follows. 1) Mean daily intake of sodium was 8.52$\pm$0.38g for the boys and 7.31$\pm$0.44g for the girls. The mean value in males was significantly higher than that in females(p<0.05). Mean daily in take of calcium was 411.0$\pm$16.0mg for the boys and 356.5$\pm$15.4mg for the girls. The mean value in males was significantly higher than that in females(p<0.01). 2) Mean daily fecal loss and apparent digestibility of sodium was 0.32$\pm$0.04g and 96% for the boys and 0.52$\pm$0.07g and 93% for the girls. The fecal loss mean value in males was significantly lower than that in females(p<0.05). Mean daily fecal loss and apparent digestibility of calcium was 299.8$\pm$8.3mg and 29% for the boys and 194.1$\pm$14.3mg and 46% for the girls. The fecal loss mean value in males was significantly higer than that in females(p<0.01). 3) Mean daily urinary loss of sodium was 6.55$\pm$0.50g and showed the positive balance of 1.65g for the boys and 5.67$\pm$0.20g and showed the positive balance of 1.12g for the girls. The urinary loss mean values of the two groups were not significantly different. Mean daily urinary loss of calcium was 42.8$\pm$5.1mg and showed the positive balance of 79.4mg for the boys and 25.0$\pm$1.64mg and showed the positive balance of 137.4mg for the girls. The urinary loss mean value in males was significantly higer than that in females(p<0.01).

The Measurement of Physical Properties of Outdoor Exposed Members

  • The number of newly constructed traditional Korean houses, i.e., Hanoks, and light-frame buildings is increasing. However, related research is limited owing to the lack of awareness regarding safety evaluations. Therefore, this study conducted an outdoor exposure test to accurately evaluate wooden constructions. Spruce, pine, and fir (SPF) material was monitored for a year, wherein the SPF material was artificially dried under 18% moisture content, and its physical properties and color differences were measured once a month. Large differences were observed in the material's weight and moisture content, which are indexes sensitive to daily range and rainfall; however, no significant difference was found for other basic properties in the pre and post test results. Herein, $L^*$, $a^*$, and $b^*$ values represent color differences; these values exhibited a general decrease after the test. Such differences were attributed to the loss of lignin in the wood. The color difference value was high between the months of May and July, when the daily range and rainfall significantly fluctuated. Multiple regression analysis was performed on the $a^*$ value (redness indicator), daily range, rainfall, and ultraviolet index. The results indicated that the daily range influenced redness the most. According to the estimated regression equation, the daily range and redness are positively correlated. Based on the results, the types and influence of independent variables on color difference are expected to change as the wood's duration of outdoor exposure and the amount of data obtained both increase.

1904년 이래의 부산 기후 변동성 및 생활기상지수들의 기후변화 특성 연구 (A Study on Characteristics of Climate Variability and Changes in Weather Indexes in Busan Since 1904)

  • Holding the longest observation data from April 1904, Busan is one of the essential points to understand the climate variability of the Korean Peninsula without missing data since implementing the modern weather observation of the South Korea. Busan is featured by coastal areas and affected by various climate factors and fluctuations. This study aims to investigate climate variability and changes in climatic variables, extremes, and several weather indexes. The statistically significant change points in daily mean rainfall intensity and temperature were found in 1964 and 1965. Based on the change point detection, 117 years were divided into two periods for daily mean rainfall intensity and temperature, respectively. In the long-term temperature analysis of Busan, the increasing trend of the daily maximum temperature during the period of 1965~2021 was larger than the daily mean temperature and the daily minimum temperature. Applying Ensemble Empirical Mode Decomposition, daily maximum temperature is largely affected by the decadal variability compared to the daily mean and minimum temperature. In addition, the trend of daily precipitation intensity from 1964~2021 shows a value of about 0.50 mm day-1, suggesting that the rainfall intensity has increased compared to the preceding period. The results in extremes analysis demonstrate that return values of both extreme temperatures and precipitation show higher values in the latter than in the former period, indicating that the intensity of the current extreme phenomenon increases. For Wet-Bulb Globe Temperature (effective humidity), increasing (decreasing) trend is significant in Busan with the second (third)-largest change among four stations.

일강우량과 24시간 강우량에 의한 강우강도식의 n식 결정 (Determining "n" Value of Rainfall Intensity-duration Formular Based on the Maximum 24 Hour Rainfall and the Daily Rainfall of a Designated Time)

  • 한강수계의 32개 강우량관측지점에 7년간 오전 10시 일강우량과 임의 24시간 최대 강우량과의 관계를 506개 자료로서 분석한 것이다. 우리나라에서 널리 사용하고 있는 물부식의 n은 2/3이므로 한강수계에서도 이 n치가 2/3가 되는가를 검증하기 위한 것이다. 그 결과 ncl는 지형적인 영향을 많이 받고 있으며, 지역별 등에 n치선을 표시하였다. 일강우량은 y(%)=$$로서 표시되나, 일강우량이 200mm 이상이면 110%에 해당하는 것을 이용하면 안전측이다. 공공설계에서 강우강도-지속기간의 식은 r$$으로서 f는 y(%)를 100으로 기준한 것이다. 본 연구는 단기간강우자료를 사용한 것으로서 n 및 f 치의 정확한 산정을 위하여는 보다 많은 연우와 정밀한 값을 얻도록 노력해야 할 것이다.

일반인의 납 경구섭취량의 경시적 변화: 2008-2018년 국내자료를 중심으로 (Variation in the Estimated Value of Dietary Pb Intake among the General Korean Population: Domestic Research from 2008 to 2018)

  • Objectives: The study aims to examine the variation over roughly the past 10 years (from 2008 to 2018) in the estimated daily dietary Pb intake (Pb-D) based on the variations of daily intake amount and Pb content in respective food groups. The following factors were considered: (1) variation of estimated value of Pb-D, (2) Pb contents in each food group and (3) the most influential food group for dietary Pb intake. Methods: Estimated values of Pb-D were taken from food consumption by the food groups reported in the Korean National Health and Nutrition Survey and the Pb content of each food group as reported in 19 previous publications. Variation from 2008 to 2018 of Pb intake was calculated from daily intake amount and Pb content in each food group. Results: The survey showed that main Pb intake sources were the food groups 'meats and poultry' and 'fish and shellfish'. These food groups showed gradually increased Pb exposure from 2008 to 2018. Estimated daily Pb intake was 42.18 to 57.68 ㎍/day for men and 30.97 to 42.54 ㎍/day for women. Both men and women showed slightly increased dietary Pb intake from 2008 to 2018. The food groups 'meats and poultry' and 'fish and shellfish' proved the highest Pb intake food groups. Estimated Pb intake from 'meats and poultry' was 8.47 to 12.98 ㎍/day and that of 'fish and shellfish' was 5.63 to 10.10 ㎍/day. Conclusion: Over the past ten years, daily Pb intake has slightly increased in men and women. The food groups 'meats and poultry' and 'fish and shellfish' might be the main variation factors of Pb intake.

일일 최고기온의 변화에 대한 추정 (Estimation for the Change of Daily Maxima Temperature)

  • 한국의 네 개 도시(서울, 대구, 춘천, 영천)의 일일 최고기온을 모형화하여, 이에 적합한 분포를 제안하고 분포의 적합성을 여러 가지 방법에 의하여 검토하였다. 제안된 분포는 극단간 분포의 일종이며, 적합성 검토는 카이제곱 적합도 검정, Q-Q plot,확률 그림과 5000번의 모의실험을 통하여 허용한계를 구하였다 그 결과 제안된 극단간 분포(Extreme Value Distribution)가 일일 최고기온을 잘 설명하고 있음을 확인할 수 있었다. 논문에서 나타난 실제 데이터의 그림은 서울의 1월과 6월을 중심으로 하였고, 대상지역의 2006년과 100년 후 2105년의 평균기온과, 제 안된 극단값 분포에 의해 95% 신뢰구간하에서 일일 최고기온의 평균 상한값을 예측하였다.

VALUE OF BARLEY GRAIN AND COTTONSEED CAKE AS SUPPLEMENTS TO FOURWING SALTBUSH, AND THE LIVE WEIGHT GAINS AND WATER CONSUMPTION OF SHEEP FED THE DIETS

  • Fifteen sheep were used in a trial which compared the feeding value of whole barley gain and cottonseed cake as supplements to a basal diet of leaves of fourwing saltbush (Atriplex canescens). Diet SB contained 700 g (air-dry matter) of saltbush alone, diet SB + BG contained 700 g SB with 400 g whole barley grain and diet SB + CS contained 700 g SB with 400 g cottonseed cake. The digestibility of the dry matter of diets SB (69%) and SB + CS (70%) were lower (p < 0.001) than of diet SB + BG (76%). Sheep offered SB alone daily lost 80g whereas those fed the other diets gained 11 g (SB + CS) or 17 g (SB + BG) per day. Daily water consumption of the sheep offered the three diets was similar (p > 0.05), but their water consumption was higher (p < 0.001) than that of sheep offered daily 700 g wheat straw and 200 g barley grain. The results indicate that, at the levels of feeding used, barley grain and cottonseed cake had similar value as supplements to fourwing saltbush harvested in summer. The addition of the supplement allowed the sheep to gain some live weight. However, the presence of saltbush leaves in the diet resulted in higher water intakes by the sheep.
