Numerical Analysis of Magneto-Optic Performance of One-Dimensional Magneto-Photonic Crystal (1차원 자성 포토닉 결정의 자기 광학 특성 수치해석)

  • One dimensional magneto-photonic crystal having structure of (A/B)$^{k/W}$(B/A)$^{k}$ , where M is a magnetic layer of highly Bi-substituted iron garnet, A and B are dielectric layers of $SiO_2$ and T $a_2$O$_{5/}$, and k is the stacking number of the dielectric layers, has been numerically analyzed as a function of the thickness (d$_{M}$) of M (1∼535 nm) and the stacking numer of k (5∼15). The transmittance, Faraday rotation, and figure of merit of the magneto-photonic crystal have been investigated both in the visible and infrared wavelengths. A factor of several and several tens greater Faraday rotation and figure of merit have been obtained compared to the single layer of M, at many localized modes. In the visible the maximum figure of merit of 0.15 was obtained ( = 720 nm) when k = 11 and d$_{M}$ = 375 nm with T : 0.54, $\theta$$_{F}$ = 8.13$^{\circ}$, which was a factor of 30 greater than that of single garnet layer. Much greater maximum figure of merit, 0.285, was obtained in the infrared ( = 1114 nm) when k = 11 and d$_{M}$ = 800 nm with T = 0.66, $\theta$$_{F}$ = 18$^{\circ}$, which was a factor of 100 greater than that of single garnet layer.

A Simple Guidance Method for the KM , KG , KB , and GM of Small Fishing Vessels (소형 어선의 복원성 요소 KM , KG, KB, GM의 간이유도법)

  • This paper describes to analyze regression relation between the ratio mean draft to freeboard and KM/dm, KB/dm and GM/B, respectively with the 43 Korean fishing vessels (7 Danish seiners; 1l Stowers; 14 Poler and liners; 6 Trawlers; 5 Purse seiners) and the 1 Cargo boat in order to obtain the stability factors of the Korean fishing vessels conveniently. The obtained results are as follows; 1. The stability factors by fishing vessels have a tendency to the larger f/dm, the larger KM/dm and KG/dm, and KB/dm and GM/B are constant. 2. It is found out that M and G differ from the kinds of the fishing vessels because KM/dm is the largest in poler and liners and KG/dm in Danish seiner, respectively. 3. It is confirmed that the stability factors of the fishing vessels which the inclining experiment carry out the wholly in the light and the full loaded condition are the same as the inclining experiment uniformly.

JPEG Image Quantization Method with Variable Thresholds (가변 임계값을 갖는 JPEG 영상의 양자화 방법)

  • In this Paper VTQM(Variable Threshold quantization Method) is proposed, which enhances PSNR by composing the advantages of round-off and truncation quantization methods. From vast experiments, PSNR's of JPEG images with the method are compared with that of standard JPEG methods. At the boundary which affects the compression ratio, VTQM quantizes with a new threshold to reduce the length of compressed data; otherwise, VTQM employs the round-off quantization method to preserve the original image information. As a result, VTQM reduces bit rate while preserving the image quality. The experimental results show that VTQM enhances PSNR by 0.2∼0.3dB, 0.4∼0.5dB with the same bit rate than those of the traditional truncation and round-off quantization methods, respectively.

  • A novel alignment-free micro-optic MZI filter has been demonstrated. The filter is composed of two fiber-pigtailed collimators and a beam-splittingplate with a periodically etched stripe pattern. We fabricated the plate through a standard lithographic formulation process by using a pyrex substrate glass with SU-8 resist coating on its one of the surfaces. The maximum insertion loss of the implemented filter was less than 2 dB over 1000 nm to 1600 nm and the extinction ratio was larger than 33 dB. The measured PDL within the 3-dB pass band of the filter was less than 0.15dB and the maximum extinction ratio variation was less than 2 dB even when the worst alignment error occured.

  • 안개나무 목질부의 열수추출물을 사용하여 한지를 염색하였다. 안개나무 목질부의 추출물을 동결건조하여 만든 염료 분말을 사용하여 제조한 0.0002%(wt) 농도의 염액은 198 nm에서 0.39의 흡광도를 278 nm 에서 0.10의 흡광도를 가지는 자외가시광선 흡수 피크를 나타내었으며 무매염으로도 한지에 염색이 잘 되었다. 염색된 한지는 황색 계열의 색을 나타내었으며, 명반 매염을 하면 $a^*$ 값과 $b^*$ 값이 동시에 증가하여 주황색을 띠는 것을 알 수 있고, 초산동 매염을 하면 $a^*$ 값이 증가하지만 $b^*$ 값이 감소하여 적색을 좀 더 많이 띠게 되었다. 염화철 매염을 하면 $b^*$ 값만 크게 감소하여 녹색계열의 색을 나타내었다. 닥섬유에 염색시 온도가 증가함에 따라서 염착량은 감소하는 경향을 보였고, 양이온화 섬유를 사용하면 염착량이 크게 향상되나, $a^*$값이 더 크게 증가하여 색상이 적황색으로 변하였다. 표면 전하밀도와 염착량은 정비례의 관계를 나타내었으며, 양이온화 정도가 높아질수록 제조한 색한지의 광견뢰도는 악화되었다.

  • In this paper, we proposed a new method of the large capacity steganography using adaptive threshold on bit planes. Applying fixing threshold, if we insert information into all bit planes, all bit planes showed different image quality. Therefore, we first defined the bit plane weight to solve the fixing threshold problem. We then proposed a new adaptive threshold method using the bit plane weight and the average complexity to increase insertion capacity adaptively. In the experiment, we inserted information into the standard images with the same image quality and same insertion capacity, and we analyzed the insertion capacity and image duality. As a result, the proposed method increased the insertion capacity of about 6% and improved the image quality of about 24dB than fixed threshold method.

INFLUENCE OF THE SURFACE ROUGHNESS ON TRANSLUCENCY AND SURFACE COLOR OF THE DENTAL COMPOSITE RESINS (복합레진의 표면 거칠기에 따른 투명도와 표면 색상의 차이에 관한 연구)

  • The objectives of this study were to evaluate the effect of surface roughness on the surface color and translucency of the composite resins. Two composite resins (Esthet-X, Dentsply, Milford, USA and Charisma, Kulzer, Domagen, Germany) were used to investigate the surface color. Charisma was used to investigate the translucency. 40 disc samples (diameter: 8 mm, thickness: 5 mm) were made by each product to measure the surface color. Polymerized each sample's one side was treated by Sof-Lex finishing and polishing system (Group C, M, F, SF). 40 disc samples (diameter: 6 mm, thickness: 1 mm) were prepared to measure the opacity. 1 mm samples were ground one side with #600, #1000, #1500 and #2000 sandpapers. CIE $L^{*}a^{*}b^{*}$ values of each 5 mm thickness samples, and XYZ values of 1 mm thickness samples on the white and black background were measured with spectrophotometer (Spectrolino, GretagMacbeth, Regensdorf, Switzerland). Mean surface roughness (Ra) of all samples before and after surface treatment was measured using the Surface Roughness Tester SJ-301 (Mytutoyo, Tokyo, Japan). Regardless of type and shade of the composite resin, $L^{*}$ values measured in group C were higher than others (p < 0.05), and $L^{*}$ value decreased as the Ra value decreased except B3 shade of Esthet-X. But there were no significant difference in $a^{*}$ values among groups. In control group and SF, highest $b^{*}$ values were measured (p < 0.05), except B1 shade of Esthet-X. Contrast ratio decreased as the Ra value decreased (p < 0.05). With the above results, difference of surface roughness has influence on surface color and translucency of dental composite resins.

A Study on the Partial Path Loss Model By Using the Free Space and Rata Path Loss Model (자유 공간 모델과 하타 모델을 이용한 구간별 경로 손실 모델 설정에 관한 연구)

  • In this paper, we obtained the path loss characteristics in the 850 MHz for Russia area by using the free space path loss model and Okumura-Hata path loss model. In order to extract the additional path loss model parameter from the new Russian regional properties, the mean square error technique is used to obtain the correction factor. According to the obtained correction factor, the differences for the free space and Hata path loss model are 17, 6 dB in the 5 ~ 10 Km, 28, 14 dB in the 10 ~ 15 Km, and 35, 18 dB in the 15 ~ 20 Km. By applying the correction factors, the appropriate partial path loss models for the measured Russain area are proposed.
