  • The maneuverabilities of the M.S. Pusan 404 are studied, based on maneuvering indices and the data obtained from her Z test. The results obtained are summarized as follows: 1. The maneuvering indices K' and T' of the M.S Pusan 404 are 0.9359, 0.1955 at 10$^{\circ}$ Z test and 0.9781, 0.5802 at 20$^{\circ}$ Z test and 0.9108, 0.7090 at 30$^{\circ}$ Z test respectively. The above calculated values K', T' showed that her maneuverabilities are more effective when the rudder is used to small angle than to large angle. 2. As her maneuvering indices K' and T' at 10$^{\circ}$ Z test are smaller than the standard maneuvering indices of fishing boats, her turning ability was found to be lower but her obeying ability higher. 3. the running distance of a turn at her 10$^{\circ}$ Z test was about 8.7 times her own len호 and she was considered to have good maneuverabilities synthetically.

  • One hundred forty five bacterial colonies which were able to degrade crude oil were isolated from soil samples that were contaminated with oil in the Daejon area. Among these colonies, one bacterial strain was selected for this study based on its low surface tension ability, and this selected bacterial strain was identified as Pseudomonas sp. Z1 through physiological-biochemical tests and analysis of its 16S rRNA sequence. Pseudomonas sp. Z1 showed a high resistance to antibiotics such as chloramphenicol and ampicillin, as well as heavy metals such as lithium, manganese, and barium. It was found that the optimal pH and temperature for biosurfactant production of Pseudomonas sp Z1 were pH 6.0-7.0 and $30^{\circ}C$, respectively. After ten hours of inoculation, the biosurfactant activity of the culture broth decreased rapidly, and had maximum surface tension (28 dyne/cm) after twenty-one hours incubation. The biosurfactant activity of the culture broth was also decreased up to 2% NaCl concentration.

  • Purpose: To clarify the relationship between the diameter of the simulated bead and the Z-resolution of the tomosynthesis image. Methods: A simulated bead was placed on a 1,024×1,024×1,024-pixel base image. The diameters were set to 0.025, 0.05, 0.1, 0.2, 0.3, 0.7, 1.0, and 1.3 mm. A bead was placed at the center of the base image and projected at a simulated X-ray angle range of ±45° to obtain a projected image. A region of interest was placed at the center of the bead image and the slice sensitivity profile (SSP) was obtained by acquiring pixel values in the z-direction. The full width at half maximum of the SSP was defined as the Z-resolution and the frequency response was obtained by the 1-D Fourier transform of the SSP. Results: Z-resolution increased with increasing bead diameter. However, there was no change in Z-resolution between 0.025 and 0.1 mm. The frequency response was similar to that of the Z-resolution, with a significant difference between 0.1 and 0.2 mm diameter. Conclusions: Z-resolution is dependent on the diameter of the bead, which should be selected considering the pixel size of the tomosynthesis image.

  • The adsorption characteristics of Sr ion in aqueous solution was examined using zeolite NaA powder (Z-PA) and pellets (Z-BA). In batch experiment, the adsorption of Sr ions by Z-BA and Z-PA was well expressed by pseudo-second-order kinetic model than psedo-first-order kinetic model. Experimental isotherm results was well fitted to Langmuir isotherm model and the maximum adsorption capacities obtained from Langmuir isotherm model were 233.32 mg/g for Z-PA and 164.60 mg/g for Z-BA, respectively. The continuous experiment results showed that the total Sr ion uptake (q) increased, but the breakthrough time, effluent volume ($V_{eff}$) and total removal (R) of Sr ion decreased with the Sr ion concentration. The breakthrough curves obtained from the experiment was modeled by Thomas model.

  • We consider the poisson equation where the functions involved are periodic including the solution function. Let $R=[0,1]{\times}[0,l]{\times}[0,1]$ be the region of interest and let $\phi$(x,y,z) be an arbitrary periodic function defined in the region R such that $\phi$(x,y,z) satisfies $\phi$(x+1, y, z)=$\phi$(x, y+1, z)=$\phi$(x, y, z+1)=$\phi$(x,y,z) for all x,y,z. We describe a very simple method for solving the equation ${\nabla}^2u(x, y, z)$ = $\phi$(x, y, z) based on the cubic spline interpolation of u(x, y, z); using the requirement that each interval [0,1] is a multiple of the period in the corresponding coordinates, the Laplacian operator applied to the cubic spline interpolation of u(x, y, z) can be replaced by a square matrix. The solution can then be computed simply by multiplying $\phi$(x, y, z) by the inverse of this matrix. A description on how the storage of nearly a Giga byte for $20{\times}20{\times}20$ nodes, equivalent to a $8000{\times}8000$ matrix is handled by using the fuzzy rule table method and a description on how the shape preserving property of the Laplacian operator will be affected by this approximation are included.

  • P-lement mediated enhancer detector lines (EDla) were screened for reporter gene (1acZ expression In the ovary of Drosophila mejanogaster Cell-type spedfic 1acZ expression can be grouped Into three parts such as in the geimline, soma, and both. LacZ expression In germline cells was devided into 2 types; expression in nurse cells or in both of the nurse cells and oocote. In the stage-9 to stage-lO follicles, lacZ expression was observed either In the whole follicle cells around oocote or in the subpopulation of follicle cells in egg chamber. lacZ expression in the subset of follicle cells are showed in the centripetal follicle cells or the columnar follicle cells except centripetal follicle cells. Several lines showed anterior to postedor gradient pattern of lacZ expression in the follicle cells. Interestingly there were 3 lines in which lacZ was expressed In the polar cells and/or the horder cells of egg chamber. These lacZ expression patterns in the different ovarian cells of independent EDla reflect the cell type-spedflc expression of maternal genes nesr the P-element insertion, and might provide a basis for cloning of genes involved in oogenesis of Drosophila.

  • Sepsis triggers a systemic inflammatory response that can lead to acute lung injury (ALI). Salidroside (SAL) has many pharmacological activities such as anti-inflammatory and anti-oxidation. The objective of the study was to explore the mechanism of SAL on ALI caused by sepsis. A model of ALI in septic mice was established by cecal ligation and puncture. Following SAL treatment, the effect of SAL on the ferroptosis pathway in mice was analyzed. The pathological damage of lung tissue, the levels of inflammatory factors and apoptosis in bronchoalveolar lavage fluid (BALF) of mice were evaluated, and the changes of gene expression level and metabolite content abundance were explored by combining transcriptomics and metabolomics analysis. The effect of SAL on ferroptosis in mice with lung injury was observed by intraperitoneal injection of ferroptosis activator Erastin or ferroptosis inhibitor Ferrostatin-1 to promote or inhibit ferroptosis in mice. SAL significantly alleviated the pathological damage of lung tissue, decreased the number of TUNEL positive cells and the levels of TNF-α, IL-1β, IL-6 in BALF, and increased the level of IL-10 in lung injury mice. Moreover, the Fe2+ content and malondialdehyde decreased significantly, the reactive oxygen species and glutathione content increased significantly, and the arachidonic acid metabolites 20-hydroxyeicosatetraenoic acid (20-HETE), (5Z, 8Z, 10E, 14Z)-12-Oxoeicosa-5,8,10,14-tetraenoic acid (12-OxOETE), (5Z, 8Z, 10E, 14Z)-(12S)-12-Hydroxyeicosa-5,8,10,14-tetraenoic acid (12(S)-HETE), (5Z, 8Z, 14Z)-11,12-Dihydroxyeicosa-5,8,14-trienoic acid (11,12-DHET), (5Z, 11Z, 14Z)-8,9-Dihydroxyeicosa-5,11,14-trienoic acid, Leukotriene B4, Leukotriene D4 were significantly up-regulated after SAL treatment. Salidroside alleviates ALI caused by sepsis by inhibiting ferroptosis.

  • In this paper, we investigate the zeros distribution and Borel direction for the solutions of linear homogeneous differential equation $f^{(n)}+A_{n-2}(z)f^{(n-2)}+{\cdots}+A_1(z)f'+A_0(z)f=0(n{\geq}2)$ in an angular domain. Especially, we establish a relation between a cluster ray of zeros and Borel direction.

  • The purpose of this paper is to find a description of the cyclic codes of length $2^n$ over $\mathbb{Z}_4$. We show that any ideal of $\mathbb{Z}_4$[X]/($X^{2n}$ - 1) is generated by at most two polynomials of the standard forms. We also find an explicit description of their duals in terms of the generators.
