The objectives of this study are to investigate the biomineralization of goethite and lepidocrocite formed on the twisted-stalk and the sheathed-filament structure that is suggest microbe origin, and heavy metal in the yellow Fe-hydroxide. On the ratio of Cl and the Cl/Br ratios that are a pollution and non-pollution of groundwaters, it is indicated that the groundwater in this areas were relatively contaminated by human activity. The composition of the yellow Fe-hydroxide consisted mainly of $Fe_2O_3$ and $SiO_2$. The content of $Fe_2O_3$ ranges from 58.57 wt.% to 75.7 3wt.%, and $SiO_2$ content ranges from 5.8 wt.% to 16.17 wt.%. Heavy metal elements such as Zn(max. 6,160 mg/kg), Pb(max. 377 mg/kg), U(max. 503 mg/kg), Cr(max. 203 mg/kg), Cu(max. 77 mg/kg), V(max. 162 mg/kg), Ni(max. 105 mg/kg) were observed to be rich in those yellow Fe-hydroxide. The lath and platy crystals and needle-shaped crystals were clearly observed on the twisted-stalks and sheathed-filaments structure. The goethite, gypsum, and lepidocrocite were identified in the yellow Fe-hydroxide by x-ray powder diffraction.

$Bi_{0.5}(Na_{0.78}K_{0.22})_{0.5}TiO_3$ (BNKT) lead-free piezoelectric ceramics modified by $LaMnO_3$ (LM) were fabricated by conventional solid-state method. The crystal structure and the morphology of the lead free ceramics were analyzed by XRD (X-ray diffraction) and FE-SEM (Field Emission Scanning Electron Microscopy). The LM modified BNKT ceramics have a phase transition from ferroelectric tetragonal to non-polar pseudo-cubic. Despite decreases in the remnant polarization ($P_r$) and coercive field ($E_c$) in the P-E hysteresis loops, the electric-field induced strain properties were significantly enhanced by the LM modification. The highest value of $S_{max}/E_{max}=412pm/V$ at an applied electric field of 5 kV/mm was found in BNKT-0.01LM ceramic.

As a strain EH741, having an excellent hexane degradability, was isolated from bacterial consortium using hexane as a sole carbon and energy source. EH741 was identified as a Rhodococcus sp. and the addition of a surfactant Pluronic F68(PF68), for increasing hexane solubility couldn't enhance the specific growth rate of the isolate EH741 n the mineral salt medium supplemented with hexane as a sole carbon source(hexane-BH medium). In the hexane-BH medium, the maximum specific growth rate(${\mu}_{max}$) of this strain was $0.04h^{-1}$, and the maximum hexane degradation rate($V_{max}$) and saturation constant($K_s$) were$161{\mu}mol{\cdot}g-DCW^{-1}{\cdot}h^{-1}$ and 10.5 mM, respectively. Rhodococcus sp. EH741 was one of excellent microorgamisms for hexane biodegradation processes.
Moderately halophilic bacterium, Kordia algicida gen. nov., sp. novo was isolated from seawater of Masan Bay, Korea, during algal blooming caused by Skeletonema costatum. This bacterium was grown on the ZoBell 2216e medium supplied aged seawater, but not grown the medium supplied $3\%$ NaCl. This bacterium showed absolute requirements for mono and divalent cations such as $Na^+,\;Mg^{2+}\;and\;Ca^{2+}$, since no growth was observed in the medium, which is not supplemented with one of $Na^+,\;Mg^{2+}\;and\;Ca^{2+}$ ions. In kinetic studies for three kinds of cation, Km values of $Na^+,\;Ca^{2+}\;and\;Mg^{2+}$ were determined to 0.202 M, 0.089 mM, and 0.189 mM, respectively. Also, $V_{max}({\mu}max)$ was 0.442 h, 0.411 hand 0.316 h. The bacterial cells were quickly lysed in the condition limited by the cations. This result should be suggested that Kordia algicida originated from marine.
A multi-valued logic(MVL) pass gate is an important element to configure multi-valued logic. In this paper, we designed the Quaternary MIN(QMIN)/negated MIN(QNMIN) gate, the Quaternary MAX(QMAX)/negated MAX(QNMAX) gate using double pass-transistor logic(DPL) with neuron $MOS({\nu}MOS)$ threshold gate. DPL is improved the gate speed without increasing the input capacitance. It has a symmetrical arrangement and double-transmission characteristics. The threshold gates composed by ${\nu}MOS$ down literal circuit(DLC). The proposed gates get the valued to realize various multi threshold voltages. In this paper, these circuits are used 3V power supply voltage and parameter of 0.35um N-Well 2-poly 4-metal CMOS technology, and also represented HSPICE simulation results.
The model experiments were performed in tile circular water tank on the simple cambered and the super-V otter boards attached with the slotted fowler flap at the trailing edge in order to develop more efficient shearing characteristics. The dimension of the model otter boards was varied slightly in the flap chord ratio $0.20\~0.22$ and in the area $432\~426cm^2$ in accordance with the flap angle $30\~50^{\circ}$. The maximum shearing coefficient $C_L=1.78$ and hydrodynamic efficiency $C_L/C_D=4.0$ in the superV type were higher than their efficiencies $C_L=1.75$ and $C_L/C_D=3.7$ in the simple cambered type. As the shearing forces of the otter boards with flap were increased $20\~30\%$ mere than these without flap in spite of increasing the drag and the instability. The effect of flap should be fully investigated for the application.

This paper describes a design of low-density parity-check(LDPC) decoder supporting block length 2,304-bit and code rate 1/2 of IEEE 802.16e mobile WiMAX standard. The designed LDPC decoder employs the min-sum algorithm and partially parallel layered-decoding architecture which processes a sub-matrix of $96{\times}96$ in parallel. By exploiting the properties of the min-sum algorithm, a new memory reduction technique is proposed, which reduces check node memory by 46% compared to conventional method. Functional verification results show that it has average bit-error-rate(BER) of $4.34{\times}10^{-5}$ for AWGN channel with Fb/No=2.1dB. Our LDPC decoder synthesized with a $0.18{\mu}m$ CMOS cell library has 174,181 gates and 52,992 bits memory, and the estimated throughput is about 417 Mbps at 100-MHz@l.8-V.
The present study was designed to examine the metabolism of 1-anilino-8-naphthalene sulfonate (ANS), an anionic compound which is transported into liver via "multispecific organ ic anion transporter", with rat hepatic microsomes. TLC analysis indicated that the fluorescent metabolites were not produced to a measurable extent, which made it possible to assess the ANS metabolism by measuring the fluorescence disappearance. The metabolism of ANS was remarkably inhibited by the presence of SKF-525A as well as by the substitution of 02 by CO gas. ANS metabolism by microsomes also required NADPH as a cofactor. These results indicated that the microsomal monooxygenase system might be mainly responsible for the ANS metabolism. The maximum velocity ($V_{max}$) and Michaelis constant ($K_m$) were calculated to be $4.3{\pm}0.2$ nmol/min/mg protein and $42.1{\pm}2.0\;{\mu}M$, respectively. Assuming that 1g of liver contains 32mg of microsomal protein, the $V_{max}$ value was extrapolated to that per g of liver ($V_{max}^I$). The intrinsic metabolic clearance ($CL_{int}$) under linear conditions calculated from this in vitro metabolic study was 3.3ml/min/g liver, being comparable with that (3.0ml/min/g liver) calculated by analyzing the in vivo plasma disappearance curve in a previous study. Furthermore, the effects of other organic anions on the metabolism of ANS were examined. Bromophenolblue (BPB) and rose bengal (RB) competitively inhibited the metabolism of ANS, while BSP inhibited it only slightly. The inhibition constant ($K_i$) of BPB ($6\;{\mu}M$) was much smaller than that of RB ($200\;{\mu}M$). In conclusion, the microsomal monooxygenase system plays a major role in the metabolism of ANS, and other unmetabolizable organic anions (BPB and RB) compete for this metabolism.

The ability of a red tide species to take up nutrients is a critical factor affecting its red tide dynamics and species competition. Nutrient uptake by red tide species has been conventionally measured by incubating nutrient-depleted cells for a short period at 1 or 2 light intensities. This method may be applicable to certain conditions under which cells remain in oligotrophic water for a long time and high nutrients are suddenly introduced. Thus, a new method should be developed that can be applicable to the conditions under which cells are maintained in eutrophicated waters in healthy conditions and experience light and dark cycles and different light intensities during vertical migration. In this study, a new repletion method reflecting these conditions was developed. The nitrate uptake rates of the red tide dinoflagellate Prorocentrum micans originally maintained in nitrate repletion and depletion conditions as a function of nitrate concentration were measured. With increasing light intensity from 10 to $100{\mu}E\;m^{-2}s^{-1}$, the maximum nitrate uptake rate ($V_{max}$) of P. micans increased from 3.6 to $10.8 pM\;cell^{-1}d^{-1}$ and the half saturation constant ($K_{s-NO3}$) increased from 4.1 to $6.9{\mu}M$. At $20{\mu}E\;m^{-2}s^{-1}$, the $V_{max}$ and $K_{s-NO3}$ of P. micans originally maintained in a nitrate repletion condition were similar to those maintained in a nitrate depletion condition. Thus, differences in cells under nutrient repletion and depletion conditions may not affect $K_{s-NO3}$ and $V_{max}$. Moreover, different light intensities may cause differences in the nitrate uptake of migratory phototrophic dinoflagellates.
Two forms of glucoamylase (GI and GII) from starch-grown Lipomyces kononenkoae CBS 5608 mutant were purified to apparent homogeneity by means of ultrafiltration, Sephacryl S-200 gel filtration and DEAE Sephadex A-50 chromatography. The apparent molecular weight was calculated as ca. 150 kDa for GI and ca. 128 kDa for GII, respectively. Both enzymes were glycoproteins with isoelectric points of 5.6 (GI) and 5.4 (GII). They had a pH optimun of 4.5 and were stable from pH 5 to 8. The temperature optimum for both enzymes was $60^{\circ}C$, but they were rapidly inactivated above $70^{\circ}C$. The $K_m$ values toward starch were estimated to be 6.57 mg per ml for GI and 4.52 mg per ml for GII, and the $V_{max}$ values were 16.28 ${\mu}M$ per mg for GI and 32.25 ${\mu}M$ per mg for GII, respectively. The $K_m$ and $V_{max}$ values of GII for ${\alpha}-$ or ${\beta}-cyclodextrin$ were estimated to be 0.15 mg per ml and 2.0 mg per ml, respectively ($K_m$) and 1.02 ${\mu}M$ per mg or 1.02 ${\mu}M$ per mg, respectively ($V_{max}$). Neither enzyme exhibited pullulanase activity but they released only glucose from starch or cyclodextrin. Amino acid analysis indicated that both glucoamylases were enriched in proline and acid amino acids. Glucoamylase GII strongly cross-reacted with a monoclonal antibody raised against GI enzymes, and the two enzymes shared very similar amino acid composition. Western blot analysis indicated that L. kononenkoae CBS 5608 mutant produced two forms of glucoamylase on starch, and that synthesis of them was subject to glucose repression.
