Impedance Spectroscopy of (Pb0.92La0.08)(Zr0.95Ti0.05)O3 Ceramics above Room Temperatures

  • La modified lead zirconate titanate ceramics (Pb0.92La0.08)(Zr0.95Ti0.05)O3 = PLZT-8/95/5 were prepared using the conventional solid state reaction method in order to investigate the complex impedance characteristics of the PLZT-8/95/5 ceramic according to temperature. The complex impedance in the PLZT-8/95/5 ceramic was measured over a temperature range of 30~550 ℃ at several frequencies. The complex dielectric constant anomaly of the phase transition was observed near TU1 = 179 ℃ and TU2 = 230 ℃. A remarkable diffuse dielectric constant anomalous behaviour of the complex dielectric constant was found between 100 ℃ and 550 ℃. The complex impedance spectra below and above TU1 and TU2 were fitted by the superposition of two Cole-Cole types of impedance relaxations. The fast component in the higher frequency region may be due to ion migration in the bulk, and the slow component in the lower frequency region is interpreted to be the formation and migration of ions at the grain boundary or electrode/crystal interfacial polarization.

음향 실험을 기초로 한 몽골어와 한국어의 단모음 대조분석 (Contrastive Analysis of Mongolian and Korean Monophthongs Based on Acoustic Experiment)

  • This study aims at setting the hierarchy of difficulty of the 7 Korean monophthongs for Mongolian learners of Korean according to Prator's theory based on the Contrastive Analysis Hypothesis. In addition to that, it will be shown that the difficulties and errors for Mongolian learners of Korean as a second or foreign language proceed directly from this hierarchy of difficulty. This study began by looking at the speeches of 60 Mongolians for Mongolian monophthongs; data were investigated and analyzed into formant frequencies F1 and F2 of each vowel. Then, the 7 Korean monophthongs were compared with the resultant Mongolian formant values and are assigned to 3 levels, 'same', 'similar' or 'different sound'. The findings in assessing the differences of the 8 nearest equivalents of Korean and Mongolian vowels are as follows: First, Korean /a/ and /$\wedge$/ turned out as a 'same sound' with their counterparts, Mongolian /a/ and /ɔ/. Second, Korean /i/, /e/, /o/, /u/ turned out as a 'similar sound' with each their Mongolian counterparts /i/, /e/, /o/, /u/. Third, Korean /ɨ/ which is nearest to Mongolian /i/ in terms of phonetic features seriously differs from it and is thus assigned to 'different sound'. And lastly, Mongolian /$\mho$/ turned out as a 'different sound' with its nearest counterpart, Korean /u/. Based on these findings the hierarchy of difficulty was constructed. Firstly, 4 Korean monophthongs /a/, /$\wedge$/, /i/, /e/ would be Level 0(Transfer); they would be transferred positively from their Mongolian counterparts when Mongolians learn Korean. Secondly, Korean /o/, /u/ would be Level 5(Split); they would require the Mongolian learner to make a new distinction and cause interference in learning the Korean language because Mongolian /o/, /u/ each have 2 similar counterpart sounds; Korean /o, u/, /u, o/. Thirdly, Korean /ɨ/ which is not in the Mongolian vowel system will be Level 4(Overdifferentiation); the new vowel /ɨ/ which bears little similarity to Mongolian /i/, must be learned entirely anew and will cause much difficulty for Mongolian learners in speaking and writing Korean. And lastly, Mongolian /$\mho$/ will be Level 2(Underdifferentiation); it is absent in the Korean language and doesn‘t cause interference in learning Korean as long as Mongolian learners avoid using it.

이매패류 3종 소화맹낭의 소화효소 구성 및 활성도 (Digestive Enzymatic Compositions and Activities of the Digestive Diverticula in Three Species of Bivalves)

  • 본 연구는 3종의 이매패류를 대상으로 소화맹낭의 소화효소 구성 및 활성도에 대해 조사하였다. 본 연구에 사용된 이매패류는 지중해담치, 개조개 및 꼬막이며, 이들은 한국 남해안에서 2010년 11월에 채집하였다. 지중해담치, 개조개, 꼬막의 소화맹낭을 구성하는 소화효소는 amylase와 cellulase가 약 95%로 대부분을 차지하였다. 소화맹낭에서 amylase와 cellulase 활성도는 지중해담치는 2.6과 0.8 U/mg, 개조개는 2.4와 8.8 U/mg, 꼬막은 7.3과 11.8 U/mg였다. 그리고 소화맹낭의 소화효소 가운데 protease의 활성도는 지중해담치, 개조개, 꼬막에서 각각 0.00019, 0.00028, 0.00022 U/mg로 가장 낮았다.

A Note on Biogenic Effects of Coralloid Speleothems in Round Mountain Lava Cave, Oregon, U.S.A.

  • Corralloid speleothems from Round Mountain lave cave are are studied by scanning microscope and electron microprobe analyses. Scanning microscopy observation indicates that the diatom Melosira seems to contribute significantly to siliceous coralloid speleothems Electron microprobe confirms the presence of diatom and fragmental minerals(plagioclase and orthopyroxene) in coralloid speleothems. Chemical analysis of 3 diatom cells gives SiO2(74.8%), Al2O3(0.12%), FeO(0.11%), CaO(0.47%) and MgO(0.81%).

  • 가압 경수로형 결함 핵연료에 대한 장기 저장 거동을 연구하기 위하여 미조사 및 조사된 $UO_2$에 대한 공기 중 산화 시험을 수행하였다. 미조사 $UO_2$ 시편의 산화 시험은 250-40$0^{\circ}C$ 온도 범위의 공기 중에서 수행되었으며 시험결과 전 시험 온도 구간에서 S-곡선의 무게 증가 특성을 보여 주었다. 또한 $UO_2$가 U$_3$ $O_{8}$으로 최대 변환될 때의 무게 증가율은 약 4wt%정도였다. 이 때 활성화 에너지는 35$0^{\circ}C$ 이상에서는 약 110kJ/mo1로 나타났고 35$0^{\circ}C$ 이하에서는 약 153 kJ/mol로 나타났다. 약35 GWD/MTU으로 연소 된 조사 $UO_2$시편에 대한 300-40$0^{\circ}C$ 온도 영역에서의 공기 중 산화 시험 결과는 미조사 시편과 비교 할 때 초기에는 산화 속도가 빨리 증가하다가 산화가 진행될 수록 산화 속도가 느리게 증가하는 경향을 보여 주었으며 이 때의 활성화에너지는 약 95 kJ/mol로 나타났다. 35$0^{\circ}C$ 공기 분위기에서 연소도 와 aging 효과에 대한 시험결과 특별한 산화 거동에서의 차이점을 나타내지 않았다.

$UO_2$ 소결체의 산화/환원에 의해 제조된 분말 특성 (Characteristics of Powder Prepared from Unirradiated $UO_2$ Pellets by Oxidation and Reduction Method)

  • Unirradiated UO2 pellets were pulverized by oxidation in air at 40$0^{\circ}C$, and the oxidized powders were reduced in H2 and CO atmospheres at $600^{\circ}C$. During the oxidation of UO2 at 40$0^{\circ}C$, intergranular cracks which caused the spallation were mainly developed by the volume contraction due to the formation of intermediate phase (U4O9 or U3O7). As oxidation proceeded, U3O8 finally formed. As the oxidation/reduction cycles were repeated, the powder surface became coarser, specific surface area was increased and average particle size was decreased. The sintered densities of the powder were increased by the oxidation/reduction cycle due to the characteristic changes of the powder.

역사시대에 분화한 백두산 화산재의 화학 성분 (Geochemical Composition of Volcanic Ash from Historical Eruptions of Mt. Baekdu, Korea)

  • 백두산에서 역사시대에 분화한 화산재의 시료에 대하여 다양한 방법으로 주성분과 미량성분을 분석하였다. 화산재의 주성분 원소 함량은 $SiO_2$ 58.8~71.1 wt.%, $Al_2O_3$ 9.6~16.8 wt.%, ${Fe_2O_3}^T$ 4.5~6.9 wt.%, MgO 0.1~1.7 wt.%, CaO 0.3~1.6 wt.%, $Na_2O$ 5.2~6.3 wt.%, $K_2O$ 4.3~5.9 wt.% 그리고 $TiO_2$ 1.2 wt.%이하로 분석되었다. Ba, Cu, Cr. Co, Ni, Sr, V, Zn와 Zr을 포함하는 32개 미량원소가 분석되었는데, 이들 화산재는 일부 미량원소와 경희토류 원소의 부화정도에 따라 두 그룹(그룹 A, 그룹 B)으로 구분되며, 그룹 A에는 1천년 전의 밀레니엄 분화물, 1668년과 1903년 분화물이, 그룹 B에는 1702년 분화물이 해당된다. 중금속원소인 Cu, Co, Zn, Mn 등은 소량 함유되어 나타난다. 백두산 화산재는, 섭입대 기원의 일본 사쿠라지마 화산의 화산재와 비교하여, 미량성분원소 중 Y, Nb, Pb, U, Sc, V, Ni 그리고 Cu 함량은 낮게 나타나며, Zr, Ba, Hf, Cr, Co, Zn 그리고 희토류(Eu제외) 등은 높은 함량을 나타낸다.

  • In order to investigate the possible application of ZnO films as a transparent conducting oxide (TCO) electrode, ZnO:Al films were prepared by RF magnetron sputtering method. The effects of surface treatment and doping concentration on the structural and electrical properties of ZnO films were mainly studied experimentally. Five-inch PDP cells using either a ZnO:Al or indium tin oxide (ITO) electrode were also fabricated separately under the same manufacturing conditions. The luminous properties of both the transparent conducting oxide electrode were measured and compared with each other. By doping the ZnO target with 2 wt% of Al2O3, the film deposited at a chemical surface treatment resulted in the minimum resistivity of 8.5 _ 10_4 U-cm and a transmittance of 91.7%. And DBD surface treatment resulted in the minimum resistivity of 8.5 _ 10_4 U-cm and a transmittance of 91.7%. Although the luminance and luminous efficiency of the transparent conducting oxide electrode using ZnO:AI are lower than those of the cell with the ITO electrode by about 10%, these values are sufficient enough to be considered for the normal operation of TCO.

Aqueous U(VI) removal by green rust and vivianite at phosphate-rich environment

  • Vivianite (Fe32+(PO4)2·8H2O) and green rust ([Fe42+Fe23+(OH)-12][SO42-·2H2O]2-), ferrous containing minerals, could remove aqueous U(VI) in 5 min. and the efficiencies of green rust were roughly 2 times higher than that of vivianite. The zeta potential measurement results implies that the better performance of green rust might be attributed to the favorable surface charge toward uranyl phosphate species. The removal behaviors of the minerals were well fitted by pseudo-second order kinetic model (R2 > 0.990) indicating the dominant removal process was chemical adsorption. Effects of Ca2+ and CO32- at pH 7 were examined in terms of removal kinetic and capacity. The kinetic constants of aqueous U(VI) were 8 and 13 times lower (0.492 × 10-3 g/(mg·min); 0.305 × 10-3 g/(mg·min)) compared to the value in the absence of the ions. The thermodynamic equilibrium calculation showed that the stable uranyl species (uranyl tri-carbonate) were newly formed at the condition. Surface investigation on the reacted mineral with uranyl phosphates species were carried out by XPS. Ferrous iron and U(VI) on the green rust surface were completely oxidized and reduced into Fe(III) and U(IV) after 7 d. It suggests that the ferrous minerals can retard U(VI) migration in phosphate-rich groundwater through the adsorption and subsequent reduction processes.
