  • The degradation efficiency of chlorophenolic compounds in $TiO_2/H_2O_2$ combined system was compared with that of in $TiO_2$ sole system. As a result, the addition of hydrogen peroxide in photocatalytic oxidation reaction greatly enhanced the degradation efficiency of chlorophenolic compounds due to the availability of the hydroxyl radical formed on the $TiO_2$ surface. The hydrogen peroxide under UV illumination produces hydroxyl radicals that appear to be another source of hydroxyl radical formation. These results indicated the $TiO_2/H_2O_2$ combined system shows higher degradation efficiency than the $TiO_2$ sole system. Compared to another oxidation reaction, hydrogen peroxide assisted photocatalytic oxidation is more promising in practical aspect.

TiO2/UV 산화기술을 이용한 염색폐수처리에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Treatment of Dyeing Wastewater Using TiO2/UV)

  • This research uses the $TiO_2$/UV process to verify the most suitable condition and possibility to dispose dyeing wastewater that contains pigment and a large amount of pollutants. For this, this research has enforced experiments that compare photo adsorption, photolysis, and photo catalyst oxidation reaction, and also evaluated and analyzed the change of pH and $TiO_2$ dosage, irradiation rates of ultraviolet rays and the dosage change and injection method of $H_2O_2$. According to the results of the dyeing wastewater experiment of storehouse catalyst that uses the new form of $TiO_2$, the photo catalyst oxidation reaction proved to be more effective than photo adsorption and photolysis; 35%, 21% in the case of $TCOD_{cr}$ and 39%, 28% in the case of chromaticity. Taking into consideration the reaction time, amount of photo catalyst reaction and irradiation amount of ultraviolet rays, the decomposition efficiency of pH change proved to be most effective at pH 4. On the whole, the acidity area proved to be effective in dyeing water exclusion than neutral and alkalinity areas. Having evaluated the influence of $TiO_2$ dosage, not only does the decomposition efficiency continuously improve as the $TiO_2$ dosage increases but the shielding effect does not occur also when the $TiO_2$ is at a fixed state. The influence of ultraviolet irradiation amount concluded in the result that as the ultraviolet irradiation amount increases the decomposition efficiency continually increased, but in the case of chromaticity when the irradiation amount was higher than 37.8mW/cm2 the removal efficiency is slowed remarkably. The influence of $H_2O_2$ dosage evaluation reached the results that although the decomposition efficiency increases with the increase of $H_2O_2$ dosage, when above 150mg (total dosage: 1200mg) $H_2O_2$ consumes OH radical itself and reduces the decomposition efficiency. Also in the case of the $H_2O_2$ injection method rather than injecting in the whole amount of $H_2O_2$ (1200mg) needed at the beginning all at once, injecting divided quantities of $H_2O_2$ whenever the electric current density falls below 10mgfl reduces the wases of OH radical due to an excess of $H_2O_2$ and in tum heightens the decomposition efficiency.

Sulfamethoxazole의 오존산화처리에 관한 연구 (A Study on Ozonation of Sulfamethoxazole)

  • The ozonation of sulfamethoxazole (SMX) was performed at 20℃ using a pilot scale countercurrent bubble column reactor. Ozonation systems were combined with UV irradiation and TiO2 addition. As the oxidation reaction proceeded in each treatment system, the pH of the sample decreased and in the O3/UV/TiO2 system, the pH change was the largest from 4.54 to 2.02. Under these experimental conditions, the scavenger impact of carbonate is negligible. The highest COD and TOC removal rate was observed in the O3/UV/TiO2 system due to the UV irradiation and the photocatalytic effect of TiO2. Also, the highest mineralization ratio(ε) value is 0.2 in the O3/UV/TiO2 system, which means theoxidation capacity of the systems. The highest SMX degradation rate constants calculated by COD and TOC values (COD and TOC) were 2.15 × 10-4 sec-1 and 1.00 × 10-4 sec-1 in the O3/UV/TiO2 system, respectively. The activation energy (Ea) of ozone treatment follows the Arrhenius law. It was calculated based on COD and TOC. Each activation energy decreased in order of single O3> O3/TiO2> O3/UV > O3/UV/TiO2 system. The result showed that ΔH is more effective than ΔS in each SMX ozontaionsystem, that is characteristic of the common oxidation reaction.

  • HBPCA를 유기질 공해물질의 모델로서 선정하고 $TiO_2$에 흡착시켜서 흡착된 분자의 배향성과 광분해 생성물의 관계에 대하여 조사하였다. 용액의 pH를 변화시켜서 UV광을 조사한 뒤 생성된 광분해 생성물을 UIF와 Raman 분광기로 스펙트럼을 얻어 분석 비교하였다. 용액의 pH는 흡착된 분자의 배향에 영향을 미쳐서 광분해 생성물이 달라지며, 흡착된 분자의 배향과 광분해 생성물과의 관계는 아주 밀접하게 관련되어 있음을 확인하였다.

  • Au 미립자가 분산된 $TiO_{2}$ 박막을 졸겔담금법과 열처리공정으로 실리카 유리기판위에 제조하였다. $TiO_{2}$ 박막제조는 titanium tetraisopropoxide-EtOH-HCl-$H_{2}O$-hydrogen tetrachloroaurat (III) tetrahydrate계를 이용하였다. 고농도로 Au 화합물을 함유하면서 투명한 코팅용액을 형성하는 조건을 검토하였다. Au 금속미립자의 크기를 조절하기 위하여 광환원공정을 채택하였다. UV 조사에 따른 Au 입자의 변화와 $TiO_{2}$ 매트릭스의 상전이과정을 XRD, SEM, TEM and UV-visible spectrophotometer로 관찰하였다. 분산제로서 CPCl (Cetylpyridinium chloride monohydrate)의 효과를 평가하였다.

  • In order to treat the landfill leachate, $UV/TiO_2/H_2O_2$ system connected with biological treatment was investigated, and proper pretreatment methods were examined to reduce the load on the system considering economical and technical efficiency. It was more profitable to put $H_2O_2$ into the system in the early stage for the sample which was treated with $H_2SO_4$ to decrease alkalinity and with $FeCl_3-6H_2O$ flocculation. Because the required reaction time run up by increasing $H_2O_2$ input amount, though the COD was reduced slightly, the optimal $H_2O_2$ input amount should be determined for the desired COD and the economical efficiency. The appropriate way to get the lowest COD in the shortest time was the method to treat the sample which was controlled to pH 3.5 after adjusting to pH 12 and put 500 ppm $H_2O_2$ into the system. In that case, to increase $H_2O_2$ input amount was not profitable for the system efficiency. The sufficient photocatalytic excited time was required to reduce the photocatalytic decomposition time for the sample which was gone through the alkali state.

Characterization of Methylene Blue Decomposition on Fe-ACF/TiO2 Photocatalysts Under UV Irradiation with or Without H2O2

  • The photocatalysts of Fe-ACF/$TiO_2$ compositeswere prepared by the sol-gel method and characterized by BET, XRD, SEM, and EDX. It showed that the BET surface area was related to adsorption capacity for each composite. The SEM results showed that ferric compound and titanium dioxide were distributed on the surfaces of ACF. The XRD results showed that Fe-ACF/$TiO_2$ composite only contained an anatase structure with a Fe mediated compound. EDX results showed the presence of C, O, and Ti with Fe peaks in Fe-ACF/$TiO_2$ composites. From the photocataytic degradation effect, $TiO_2$ on activated carbon fiber surface modified with Fe (Fe-ACF/$TiO_2$) could work in the photo-Fenton process. It was revealed that the photo-Fenton reaction gives considerable photocatalytic ability for the decomposition of methylene blue (MB) compared to non-treated ACF/$TiO_2$, and the photo-Fenton reaction was improved by the addition of $H_2O_2$. It was proved that the decomposition of MB under UV (365 nm) irradiation in the presence of $H_2O_2$ predominantly accelerated the oxidation of $Fe^{2+}$ to $Fe^{3+}$ and produced a high concentration of OH radicals.

UV/TiO2 광촉매반응에 의한 페놀의 분해 특성 (Characteristics of Phenol Degradation by using UV/TiO2 Photocatalysis)

  • The effects were examined from several conditions of $TiO_2$ photocatalysis reaction to phenols degradation by changing it's reacting conditions such as phenol concentration, pH, $TiO_2$ concentration, $H_2O_2$ concentration, flow rate, and intensity of ultraviolet rays. Phenol degradation was more efficient in low concentration of phenol, neutral pH. Phenol degradation appeared to increase as concentration of $TiO_2$ photocatalyst, that of $H_2O_2$ and intensity of ultraviolet rays increased. As $TiO_2$ dosage increased, initial rate constant k linearly increased. When $H_2O_2$ was injected more than optimum, phenol removal rate didn't increase in proportional to the change of $H_2O_2$ concentration as OH radicals was being consumed. When flow rate is less than $4.75m^3/m^2$ day, phenol removal efficiency appeared to decrease as ultraviolet rays transmission rate becomes low by $TiO_2$ suspension coated in photo reaction column. Meanwhile, initial rate constant according to light intensity change in less than $25mW/cm^2$ appeared to be in proportion to light intensity ($mW/cm^2$) Removal efficiency decreased about 12% after 180 minutes of reaction time while showed stable removal efficiency of 100% after 300 minutes when using regenerated $TiO_2$.

가시광선과 UV광선에 의한 Fe 처리된 AC/TiO2 복합체의 광분해활성 (Photocatalytic activity of Fe treated AC/TiO2 composites between visible light and UV light irradiation)

  • FAT복합체는 TOS ($TiOSO_4{\cdot}xH_2O$)를 사용하여 솔-겔 방법으로 제조한다. 시료들은 SEM, 비표면적, XRD 및 EDX를 사용하여 분석하였다. SEM결과로서 Fe 와 $TiO_2$ 입자가 AC 표면에 분포하고 있다. XRD 결과에서 Fe-AC/$TiO_2$ 복합체는 다 anatase결정상을 하고 있다. 그리고 EDX 결과에서 C, O, Ti 및 Fe 원소가 Fe-AC/$TiO_2$ 복합체에 다 존재하고 있다. 복합체의 광촉매 활성은 가시광선과 UV광선을 사용하고 메틸렌불루(MB)의 분해 효과에 의해 측정한다. Fe-AC/$TiO_2$ 복합체는 강한 가시광선 조사에서 우수한 광촉매 효과가 나타난다. AC/$TiO_2$ 복합체에 있는 소량 존재하는 Fe 원소가 그들의 광촉매 활성을 강화할 수 있다.

TiO2 광촉매를 이용한 LAS의 제거에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Removal of LAS using TiO2 Photocatalyst)

  • The objective of this study is to delineate removal efficiency of the Linear alkylbenzene sulfonates(LAS) in solution by $TiO_2$ photocatalytic oxidation as a function of the following different experimental conditions : initial concentration of LAS, $TiO_2$ concentration, UV wavelength and pH of the solution. It was increased with decreasing initial concentration of LAS and with decreasing pH of the solution. Removal efficiency increased with increasing $TiO_2$ concentration but was almost the same at $TiO_2$ concentration of 2 g/L and 3 g/L, i.e., for initial LAS concentration of 50 mg/L. It was removal efficiency was 85% at 150 min in the case of $TiO_2$ concentration of 0.5 g/L but 100% after 150 min in the case of $TiO_2$ concentration of 1 g/L, 100% after 110 min in the case of $TiO_2$ concentration of 2 g/L and 3 g/L. UV wavelength affection on the removal efficiency of LAS decreased in the order of 254, 312 and 365 nm as increasing wavelength. But the removal efficiency of LAS was nearly the same at UV wavelength of 254 nm and 312 nm.
