Antioxidative Activity and Componential Analysis of Chamaecyparis obtusa Leaf Extract (편백나무 잎 추출물의 항산화 활성과 성분분석에 관한 연구)

  • In this study, the evaluation of antioxidative activity and componential analysis of C. obtusa leaf extracts was carried out. Reactive oxygen species (ROS) scavenging activities ($OSC_{50}$) of C. obtusa leaf extracts on ROS generated in $Fe^{3+}-EDTA/H_2O_2$ system were investigated using the luminol-dependent chemiluminescence assay. The ethyl acetate fraction ($OSC_{50}$; 0.22 ${\mu}g/mL$) and aglycone fraction of C. obtusa leaf extracts (0.20 ${\mu}g/mL$) showed about 7 times more prominent ROS scavenging activity than L-ascorbic acid (1.50 ${\mu}g/mL$). The cellular protective effects of fractions obtained from C. obtusa leaf extracts on the rose-bengal sensitized photohemolysis of human erythrocytes were investigated. The ethyl acetate fraction and aglycone fraction of C. obtusa leaf extracts showed the cellular protective effects in a concentration dependent manner (5~25 ${\mu}g/mL$). The inhibitory effect ($IC_{50}$) of ethyl acetate fraction and aglycone fraction on tyrosinase exhibited 74.43 and 53.80 ${\mu}g/mL$, repectively. The aglycone fraction showed four times higher tyrosinase inhibitory effect than arbutin (226.88 ${\mu}g/mL$), known as a whitening agent. The aglycone fraction of C. obtusa leaf extracts showed three bands in TLC chromatogram and three peaks in HPLC chromatogram (360 nm). Three compounds were identified as taxifolin, quercetin and kaempferol. These results indicate that the fractions of C. obtusa leaf extracts can function as antioxidants in biological systems, particularly skin exposed to UV radiation by scavenging $^1O_2$ and other ROS, and protect cellular membranes against reactive oxygen species. The fractions of C. obtusa leaf extracts can be applicable to new functional cosmetics for antioxidan and whitening effects.

  • Several new nickel(II) complexes, [Ni(L)X$_2$ and [Ni(L)$_2$]Cl$_2$ (L = L$_1$, L$_2$ ; X = Cl$^-$, Br$^-$, I$^-$) have been synthesized by reacting NiX$_2$ or NiX$_2$, 6H$_2$O with aminophosphines(L) wherein L is 1,2-bis{(diphenylphosphino)amino}propane(L$_1$) or 1,2-bis{(diphenylphosphino)amino}ethane(L$_2$). These complexes are characterized by the optical spectroscopic methods (UV/Vis, CD, IR, $^1$H-NMR, and $^{31}$P-NMR) together with conductometer and elemental analysis. The complex with I$^-$ is tetrahedral, where the complexes with Cl$^-$ or Br$^-$ are square planar. The complexes, [Ni(L)X$_2$](X = Cl$^-$, Br$^-$) become tetrahedral, as they react with methyl iodide. The Ni(L)X$_2$ complexes underwent solvolysis with a various organic solvents such is EtOH, DMSO, THF and DMF.

Gas Permeation Properties of $CO_2$ Through Poly(ethylene Glycol) Diacrylate/Poly(Propylene Glycol) Diacrylate Membrane (Poly(ethylene glycol)diacrylate/poly(propylene glycol)diacrylate 막의 이산화탄소 기체 투과특성에 관한 연구)

  • PEG(poly(ethylene glycol)) acrylate/PPG(poly(propylene glycol)) acrylate (PEG/PPG) was prepared using UV induced photopolymerization method to investigate gas permeation properties of the membrane. The effect of PPG content on the solubility, diffusivity, and permeability of $CO_2$, $O_2$, and $N_2$ in PEG/PPG membrane is reported at $25^{\circ}C$ and $35^{\circ}C$. PEG/PPG (9:1) membrane exhibits $CO_2$ permeability coefficient of 28.9 barrer and $CO_2$/$N_2$ pure gas selectivity of 57.9 at $25^{\circ}C$. Permeability coefficient of increased with increasing with PPG content in the membrane. PEG/PPG (5:5) membrane shows $CO_2$ permeability coefficient of 78.9 barrer and $CO_2$/$N_2$ pure gas selectivity of 33.2 at $25^{\circ}C$.

Optical Characterization of Sensory Rhodopsin II Thin Films using a Near-field Scanning Microwave Microscope (근접장 마이크로파 현미경을 이용한 로돕신의 광학적 특성 연구)

  • We report the electro-optical properties of the sensory rhodopsin II using a near-field scanning microwave microscope(NSMM). Rhodopsin was known as a photoreceptor pigment with a retinal as a chromophore via a protonated Schiff base and consists of seven ${\alpha}-helical$ transmembrane segments. The sensory rhodopsin II, expressing E. coli UT5600 with endogenous retinal biosynthesis system and purified with $Ni^{-2}-NTA$ affinity chromatography in the presence of 0.02 % DM (Dodecyl Maltoside) from Natronomonas pharaonis. We measured the absorption spectra and the transients difference of sensory rhodopsin II from Natronomonas pharaonis using a UV/VIS spectrophotometer with Nd-Yag Laser (532 nm). The absorption spectra of NpSR II showed a typical rhodopsin spectrum with a left shoulder region and the photointermediates spectra of NpSR II-ground state (${\lambda}max=498\;nm$), NpSR II-M state (${\lambda}max=390\;nm$), and NpSR II-O state (${\lambda}max=550\;nm$) during the photocycle. The observed photocycle reaction was confirmed by measuring the microwave reflection coefficient $S_{11}$ at an operating frequency of f=3.93-3.95 GHz and compared with the results of a photocycle of NpSR II.

Roll-to-Roll 스퍼터 공정시 Ar 이온 빔 처리가 ITO 박막의 특성에 미치는 효과 연구

  • 본 연구에서는 Roll-to-Roll 스퍼터를 이용한 ITO 성막 공정에서 Ar 이온 빔 처리가 플렉시블 ITO 박막의 전기적, 광학적, 구조적 특성에 미치는 효과를 연구하였다. Roll-to-Roll 스퍼터를 이용하여 ITO 박막을 성막할 때 Linear ion source를 이용하여 Ar 이온을 ITO 박막에 직접 조사할 때 일어나는 ITO 박막의 변화를 분석하였다. Ar 이온 빔에 인가되는 DC 파워 변화에 따른 ITO 박막의 전기적, 광학적 특성 변화를 Hall measurement 및 UV/Visible spectrometry 분석법을 통해 확인하였다. 이온 빔 처리 공정 시 인가되는 파워가 DC 100 W일 때 $5.81{\times}10^{-4}{\Omega}-cm$으로 이온 빔 처리를 하지 않은 $1.14{\times}10^{-3}{\Omega}-cm$에 보다 낮은 비저항을 나타냄을 확인할 수 있었다. 이온 빔 처리 전/후 ITO 박막의 결정성은 포항 가속기 X-ray scattering법을 이용하여 분석하였으며, 결과를 통해 Ar 이온 빔 처리가 ITO 박막의 표면에서의 국부적인 결정성을 향상을 일으킴을 알 수 있었다. 이러한 결정성 향상이 Roll-to-Roll 스퍼터된 ITO 박막의 전기적 특성을 향상과 매우 밀접한 관계가 있음을 확인할 수 있었다. 또한 이온 빔 처리 전/후 ITO/CPI의 기판 휨에 따른 기계적 안정성을 알아보기 위해 bending frequency 60 Hz, bending radius 15mm로 bending test를 진행을 통하여 이온 빔 처리 전후 ITO 박막의 특성을 비교 확인하였다. 본 실험 결과를 통해 Ar 이온빔 조사에 의해 상온에서 결정형 ITO 박막을 CPI 기판위에 형성 할 수 있었다. 또한 최적화된 ITO 박막을 이용하여 유기 태양전지를 제작하였으며 이를 통해 Ar 이온빔 처리된 결정형 ITO의 유연 태양전지 응용 가능성을 타진하였다.

Coloration Study of Red/Yellow β-FeOOH Nanorod using NH4OH Solution (NH4OH를 이용한 적황색 β-FeOOH 나노로드 길이에 따른 색상제어 연구)

  • Fe-based pigments have attracted much interest owing to their eco-friendliness. In particular, the color of nanosized pigments can be tuned by controlling their size and morphology. This study reports on the effect of length on the coloration of ${\beta}$-FeOOH pigments prepared using an $NH_4OH$ solution. First, rod-type ${\beta}$-FeOOH is prepared by the hydrolysis of $FeCl_3{\cdot}6H_2O$ and $NH_4OH$. When the amount of $NH_4OH$ is increased, the length of the rods decreases. Thus, the length of the nanorods can be adjusted from 10 nm to 300 nm. The color of ${\beta}$-FeOOH changes from orangered to yellow depending on the length of ${\beta}$-FeOOH. The color and phase structure of ${\beta}$-FeOOH is characterized by UV-vis spectroscopy, CIE Lab color parameter measurements, transmission electron microscopy (TEM), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and powder X-ray diffraction (XRD).

  • One of Streptomyces sp. was screened as an antibiotic producing strain against Gram positive bacteria specifically from about one hundred Actinomycetes collections. The isolated KM-48 strain, indexed in our collection, was secreted an anbitiotic in nutrient broth culture. The active principle was extracted with acetone from the lyophilized solid of cultured filtrate. The nonadsorbed elute in aluminium oxide was isolated as a purified homogeneity which revealed a sing1e spot under ultra-violet beam on avicel thin layer chromatography. The isolated antibiotic was sensitive specifically against the Gram positive bacteria and fungi. About fifty percent inhibition of the control growth on Bacillus amyloliquefaciens was 18$\mu\textrm{g}$/$m\ell$. The antibiotic was lavile against thermotreatment and stabled in acidic condition remarkably. The KM-48 was identified as a similar strain to Streptomyces tsusimaensis on its morphological and cultural characteristics.

DEVELOPMENT OF POLYETHOXYLATED RETINAMIDE AS AN ANTI-AGING AGENT

  • A novel retinol derivative, polyethoxylated retinamide(Medimin A) was synthesized, as an anti-aging agent. Collagen synthesis, skin permeation, stability, and toxicity of Medimin A were evaluated and compared with those of retinol and retinyl palmitate. In vitro collagen synthesis was evaluated by quantitative assay of $[^3H]-proline$ incorporation into collagenase sensitive protein in fibroblast cultures. For in vitro skin permeation experiments, Franz diffusion cells(effective diffusion area: 1,766 $cm^2$) and the excised skin of female hairless mouse aged 8 weeks were used, The stabilities of retinoids were evaluated at two different temperature($25^{\circ}C\;and\;40^{\circ}C$) and under UV in solubilized state and in O/W emulsion. To estimate the safety, acute oral toxicity, acute dermal toxicity, primary skin irritation, acute eye irritation and human patch test were performed. The effect of Medimin A on collagen synthesis was similar to that of retinol. The skin permeability of Medimin A was higher than those of retinol and retinyl palmitate. The Medimin A was more stable than retinol and retinyl palmitate. Medimin A was nontoxic in various toxicological tests. These results suggest that Medimin A would be a good anti-aging agent for enhancing bioavailability and stability.

FTS (Facing Target Sputtering)장비를 이용한 알루미늄 무기산화막 박막에 관한 연구

  • 현재 디스플레이 시장은 LCD (Liquid Crystal Display), PDP (Plasma Display Panel) 등과 같이 평판 디스플레이가 주류를 이루고 있으며 현재에는 기존의 디스플레이와는 달리 잘 휘어지고 높은 투과성을 가지는 플렉시블 디스플레이에 대한 연구가 활발히 진행 중이다. 하지만 이러한 플렉시블 디스플레이에 사용되는 플라스틱 기판의 경우 용제에 대한 화학적 저항성 및 기계적인 안정성이 취약한 점과 대기중의 수분이나 산소가 플라스틱 기판을 통하여 소자내로 침투하게 되어 금속전극을 산화시키거나 기포 또는 흑점 등과 같은 비 발광 영역이 확산되어 소자의 수명을 단축시키는 치명적인 단점을 가진다. 이에 본 실험에서는 고밀도 플라즈마 형성이 가능하고 저온공정이 가능한 FTS (Facing Target Sputtering) 장비를 이용하여 Polyethylene terephthalate (PET) 기판위에 낮은 수분 투과율 또는 산소 투과율을 갖는 양질의 무기 산화막을 적층하기 위해 저 투습도 및 기계적인 경도 향상을 위한 비 반응성 박막으로 $Al_20_3$층을 Ar분위기에서 증착하였고 그 위에 박막의 stress 감소, 유연성 향상을 위한 반응성 박막으로 Al을 Ar과 $O_2$를 비율별로 증착하여 비교 실험하였다. 이와 같이 제작된 무기산화막들을 Uv- spectrophotometer를 이용하여 광학적 특성을 조사한 결과 가시광 영역에서 모두 80% 이상의 높은 투과율을 나타내었으며, 그 외 XRD (X-ray Diffraction)를 사용하여 결정성을 확인, SEM (Scanning Electron Microscope), AFM (Atomic Force Microscope)을 이용하여 박막의 구조와 표면향상 및 표면조도를 측정한 결과 모든 박막에서 밀집도가 좋으며 거칠기가 작은 것으로 확인되었다. 마지막으로 수분 투과율(WVTR)을 알아보기 위해 Mocon (Permatran W3/31)장비를 이용하여 측정한 결과 $1.0{\sim}3.0{\times}10^{-3}g/m{\cdot}day$의 낮은 수분 투과율을 볼 수 있었다. 이러한 측정 결과로 볼 때 향후 FTS 장비를 이용하여 양질의 플라즈마를 형성하여 알루미늄 무기산화막을 이용한 고밀도 다층막을 형성하면 더욱 낮은 수분투과율을 갖는 가스차단막을 제작할 수 있을 것으로 보여지며 반도체 소자 및 디바이스의 Pachaging으로도 사용가능 할 것이라 사료된다. 본 연구는 한국산업기술진흥원에서 지원하는 2011년도 지역산업기술개발사업의 연구수행으로 인한 결과물임을 밝힙니다.

Highly Flexible Touch Screen Panel Fabricated with Silver Nanowire Crossing Electrodes and Transparent Bridges

  • A capacitive-type touch screen panel (TSP) composed of silver nanowire (AgNW) crossing electrodes and transparent bridge structures was fabricated on a polycarbonate film. The transparent bridge structure was formed with a stack of Al-doped ZnO (AZO) electrodes and SU-8 insulator. The stable and robust continuity of the bridge electrode over the bridge insulator was achieved by making the side-wall slope of the bridge insulator low and depositing the conformal AZO film with atomic layer deposition. With an extended exposure time of photolithography, the lower part of the SU-8 layer around the region uncovered by the photomask can be exposed enough to the UV light scattered from the substrate. This leads to the low side-wall slope of the bridge insulator. The fabricated TSP sample showed a large capacitance change of 22.71% between with and without touching. Our work supplies the technological clue for ensuring long-term reliability to the highly flexible and transparent TSP made by using conventional fabrication processes.
