In this study, we investigated the biological toxicity of nano-scale Zn (0.1, 0.5, and 1 mol%)-doped $TiO_2$ and pure $TiO_2$ nanoparticles using zebrafish embryogenesis as our model organism. Zn-doped $TiO_2$ nanoparticles were prepared using a conventional hydrothermal method for the insertion of zinc into the $TiO_2$ framework. The characters of Zn-doped $TiO_2$ (0.1%, 0.5%, 1%Zn) and pure $TiO_2$ were about 7~8 nm. These sizes were smaller than 100~200 nm of $TiO_2$ was prepared using the sol-gel method. Particularly, in this study, we found no significant biological toxicity in the hatching rate and abnormal rate under expose pure $TiO_2$ and Zn-doped $TiO_2$ nanoparticles were prepared using a conventional hydrothermal method of zebrafish. It was different from the biological damage under $TiO_2$ nanoparticles were prepared using sol-gel method. We assessed that the damage was not linked to the particle's nanometer size, but rather due to the prepare method. Moreover, $TiO_2$ nanoparticles were prepared using a hydrothermal method were not shown to cause cytotoxic effects, like apoptosis and necrosis, that are the major markers of toxicity in organisms exposed to nanomaterials. Therefore, there is some relationship with biological toxicity of nanoparticles and the prepare method of nanometer size particles.

Porous $TiO_2$ nanostructured particles containing both mesopores and macropores were fabricated by utilizing an aerosol templating method from two kinds of starting materials (colloidal mixture of $TiO_2$ nanoparticles and PS particles, and that of TTIP solution and PS particles). The effects of mixing ratio of PS to $TiO_2$ and reactor temperature on the particle properties were investigated. When $TiO_2$ nanoparticles were used as starting materials, the increase of macropores number was observed by SEM and the specific surface area and total pore volume were increased from $31.6m^2/g$ to $39.1m^2/g$ and $0.068cm^3/g$ to $0.089cm^3/g$, respectively, by increasing the weight mixing ratio of $PS/TiO_2$ from 0.79 to 1.31. When TTIP was used as precursor, the specific surface area and mesopore volume of particles prepared at same condition decreased by 67% and 75%, respectively.
$Ag/TiO_2$ particle was prepared using various ionic liquids by wet impregnation. The properties of the particles were significantly affected by the composition of ionic liquids. This is mainly attributed to different abilities of an ionic liquid to coordinate with the silver particle, leading to various coagulation of silver particles. The catalytic activity of the prepared samples was examined for the aerobic benzyl alcohol oxidation. Among the particles, $Ag/TiO_2$ prepared with 1-octyl-3-methylimidazolium tetrafluoroborate showed the best catalytic performance.

Au fine particles dispersed $TiO_{2}$ film was prepared on silica glass substrate by sol-gel dipping and firing process. The $TiO_{2}$ films were fabricated from the system of titanium tetraisopropoxide-EtOH-HCl-$H_{2}O$-hydrogen tetrachloroaurat (III) tetrahydrate. The conditions for the formation of clear solution and dissolving high concentration of Au compound were examined. Photoreduction process was adopted to control the size of gold metal particles. Phase evolution of matrix $TiO_{2}$ and variation of Au particle with UV irradiation were investigated by XRD, SEM, TEM and UV-visible spectrophotometer. The effect of CPCl (Cetylpyridinium chloride monohydrate) as a dispersion agent was evaluated.

The Powder characteristics and sintering behavior of $SiO_2$ coated $BaTiO_3$ were studied. $BaTiO_3$ powders were synthesized by the liquid mix method developed by Pechini, and silica coating was prepared by alkoxide hydrolysis method with TEOS and ethanol. The particle size of the $BaTiO_3$ powders was 35 nm and the thickness of the $SiO_2$ coating layer was 5 nm. As the $SiO_2$ content increased, the $SiO_2$ layers improved the powder dispersion by increasing electrostatic repulsion between the $BaTiO_3$ particles. Effects of MgO coating on microstructure and dielectric properties of $BaTiO_3$ have been studied compared with mechanically MgO mixed $BaTiO_3$. MgO coated $BaTiO_3$ particles were prepared by a homogeneous precipitation method using $MgCl_2\cdot 6H_2O$ and urea. MgO coated $BaTiO_3$ exhibited homogeneous microstructure compared with mixed samples. XRD analysis revealed that Mg substitution for the Ti site in the MgO mixed sample was much greater than in the coated one. Electrical properties of MgO mixed and coated $BaTiO_3$ were affected by the diffusion behavior of Mg in $BaTiO_3$ lattice.
Spherical fine BaTiO3 powders with an average diameter of 0.3${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ to 0.9${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ are prepared at 100$0^{\circ}C$ by the ultrasonic spray pyrolysis of solutions containing Ba(NO3)2 and TiCl4. Experimental variables are adjusted to produce BaTiO3 powders and its effect on the phase, the size and the morphology of the particles are investigated by XRD, SEM, TEM. Each particle consists of small primary particles and has a hollow around its center. The dependence of particle diameters on the concentrations of source solutions indicates that metal salt precursors are dried to precipitate solid particles and decompose to form BaTiO3 phase without gas phase reactions.

In order to improve the oxidation resistance of $Ti_3Al$, Ti-25at.%Al composites containing dispersed particles of 15wt.%SiC were prepared by a tubular mixing-spark plasma sintering method. The sintered composites had $Ti_3Al$, SiC, $Ti_5Si_3$ and TiC. The presence of $Ti_5Si_3$ and TiC indicates that some of SiC particles reacted with Ti to from more stable phases. From oxidation tests at 800, 900 and $1000^{\circ}C$ under 1 atm of pure oxygen, it was found that the oxidation rate of Ti3Al was effectively reduced by the addition of SiC. The scale was primarily composed of an outer $TiO_2$ layer having some $Al_2O_3 $islands, an intermediate relatively thick $Al_2O_3 $ layer, and an inner $TiO_2+Al_2O_3+SiO_2$ mixed layer. Beneath the scale, Kirkendall voids were seen.

The preparation of $TiO_2$ fine particles from $TiCl_4$ and oxygen by the vapor-phasereaction was investigated at $850^{\circ}C$ with an emphasis on the effect of its experimental conditions on the crystal type of the products. Anatase $TiO_2$ particles prepared by experiment were used to study anatase-rutile transition by calcination temperature, the additives and gas atmosphere. The results were as follows. The kinetics of anatase-rutile transition was well agreed with A vrami equation, and the activation energy of transition was 35kcal/mol. The addition of CuO in anatase $TiO_2$ particles accelerated the anatase-rutile transition, and its transition was retarded in vaccum.
Monodisperse, spherical $PMSQ/TiO_2$ composite fine powders were prepared by modified sol-gel process where 300 nm $TiO_2$ fine powders were used as seed particles for hetero-condensation with hydrolyzed MTMS (Methyltrimethoxysilane). The reaction was carried out under $N_2$ atmosphere at ambient temperature using $NH_3$ as a catalyst. Methanol was used as a solvent. Powder was obtained by the filtration of the solution with a glass filter and washing with acetone. The stirring rate, reaction temperature, $[H_2O]/[MTMS]$ and $[MTMS]/[TiO_2]$ ratio were varied to investigate shapes and sizes of particles. Monodisperse particles of $1-2{\mu}m$ diameter were obtained with [MTMS]=0.2 M, $[NH_3]=0.6M$, $[H_2O]/[MTMS]=100$, $[MTMS]/[TiO_2]=10-50$ at ambient temperature with mild stirring condition. These composite particles had a contact angle of almost 180 degree contact angle with water, which proves their excellent hydrophobicity. The study of UV absorption spectra showed that they have UV protecting effect.
$Y_2Ti_2O_7$ nanoparticles (0.3 mol%) have been successfully synthesized by the co-precipitation process. The samples, adjusted to pH7 with ammonia solution as catalyst and calcined at $700{\sim}900^{\circ}C$, exhibit very fine particles with close to spherical shape and average size of 10-30 nm. It was possible to control the size of the synthesized $Y_2Ti_2O_7$ particles by manipulating the conditions. The $Y_2Ti_2O_7$ nanoparticles were coated on a glass substrate by a dipping coating process with inorganic binder. The $Y_2Ti_2O_7$ solution coated on the glass substrate had excellent adhesion of 5B; pencil hardness test results indicated an excellent hardness of 6H. The thickness of the thick film was about $30{\mu}m$. Decomposition of MB on the $Y_2Ti_2O_7$ thin film shows that the photocatalytic properties were excellent.
