A Study for Reduction of Combustion Noise in Diesel Engine by Wiebe's Combustion Function (Wiebe 燃燒函數에 의한 디이젤機關 의 燃燒騷音低減 에 관한 硏究)

  • This research is to find a means of reducing diesel engine combustion noise with none or minimum sacrifice of engine performance by investigating the influence of Cylinder Pressure Level(CPL). For this purpose, modified Wiebe's combustion function, considering the heat release curve as a combustion of both premixed and diffusive combustion portion, was exclusively used to obtain the indicator diagram and computer coeds were developed for the numerical analysis. Following are the results of this research. (1) CPL increases almostly with lag of ignition timing increasing .alpha. and decreasing. theta.$_{d}$, but at the crank angle with the maximal efficiency, CPL is independent of .alpha. and .theta.$_{d}$ with constant value of 200 dB especially at the low frequency. (2) For the constant ignition timing, the effects of .alpha. and .theta.$_{d}$ on CPL were the most significant at the frequency of about 1KHz and 300Hz respectively. (3) For the constant value of .alpha. and .theta.$_{d}$, CPL increases linearly with load but thermal efficiency increase very rapidly with maximum value of load Q$_{T}$=30-40 MJ/Kmol, then starts to decrease slowly. (4) The most effective way of reducing combustion noise without sacrificing thermal efficiency, is to decrease .alpha.. In the case of constant .alpha., there always exists a optimum value of .theta.$_{d}$ with respect to the various compression ratio.o..atio.o..

  • In this paper we establish some recurrence relations satisfied by quotient moments of upper record values from the power distribution. Let {$X_n$, $n{\geq}1$} be a sequence of independent an identically distributed random variables with a common continuous distribution function(cdf) $F(x)$ and probability density function(pdf) $f(x)$. Let $Y_n=max\{X_1,X_2,{\cdots},X_n\}$ for $n{\geq}1$. We say $X_j$ is an upper record value of {$X_n$, $n{\geq}1$}, if $Y_j$ > $Y_{j-1}$, $j$ > 1. The indices at which the upper record values occur are given by the record times {$u(n)$}, $n{\geq}1$, where $u(n)=min\{j{\mid}j>u(n-1),X_j>X_{u(n-1)},n{\geq}2\}$ and $u(1)=1$.   • The Langmuir adsorption isotherm at the $(Pt)/0.1M\;H_2SO_4$ electrolyte interface has been qualitatively analyzed using the ac impedance measurement and phase-shift method. The phase shift $(\phi)$ depends on both the cathode potential (E<0) and frequency (f) and is inversely proportional to the factional surface coverage $(\theta)$. At an intermediate frequency band (ca. $1\~100$ Hz), the phase-shift profile $(\phi\;vs.\;E)$ can be related to the fractional surface coverage $(\theta\;vs.\;E)$. The phase-shift profile $(\phi\;vs.\;E)$ can be used as an experimental method to estimate and analyze the Langmuir adsorption isotherm $(\theta\;vs.\;E)$. The equilibrium constant (K) and the standard free energy $({\Delta}G_{ads})$ of the adsorbed hydrogen atom $(H_{ads})\;and\;3\times10^{-4}$ and 20.1 kJ/mol, respectively.

Discrete Optimization of Unsymmetric Composite Laminates Using Linear Aproximation Method (선형 근사화방법을 이용한 비대칭 복합 적층평판의 이산최적화)

  • The optimum design of most structural systems used in practice requires considering design variables as discrete quantities. The present paper shows that the linear approximation method is very effective as a tool for the discrete optimum designs of unsymmetric composite laminates. The formulated design problem is subjected to a multiple in-plane loading condition due to shear and axial forces, bending and twisting moments, which is controlled by maximum strain criterion for each of the plys of a composite laminate. As an initial approach, the process of continuous variable optimization by FDM is required only once in operating discrete optimization. The nonlinear discrete optimization problem that has the discrete and continuous variables is transformed into the mixed integer programming problem by SLDP. In numerical examples, the discrete optimum solutions for the unsymmetric composite laminates consisted of six plys according to rotated stacking sequence were found, and then compared the results with the nonlinear branch and bound method to verify the efficiency of present method.

Dephosphorylation of Diphenyl-4-Nitrophenyl Phosphinate(DPNPIN) onto 2-Alkylbenzimidazolide Anion in TTABr Micellar Solution (TTABr 미셀 용액속에서 2-알킬벤즈이미다졸 음이온에 의해 추진되는 디페닐-4-니트로페닐 포스페네이트(DPNPIN)의 탈인산화반응)

  • This study is mainly focused on micellar effect of tetradecyltrimethyl ammonium bromide(TTABr) solution including alkylbenzimidazole(R-BI) on dephosphorylation of diphenyl-4-nitrophenylphosphinate(DPNPIN) in carbonate buffer(pH 10.7). Dephosphorylation of DPNPIN is accelerated by $BI^{\Theta}$ ion in $10^2$ M Carbonate buffer(pH 10.7) of $4{\times}10^{-4}$ M TTABr solution up to 80 times as compared with the reaction in Carbonate buffer by no benzimidazole(BI) solution of TTABr. The value of pseudo first order rate constant($k_{\psi}$) of the reaction in TTABr solution reached a maximum rate constant increasing micelle concentration. The reaction mediated by $R-BI^{\Theta}$ in micellar solutions are obviously slower than those by $BI^{\Theta}$, and the reaction rate were decreased with increase of lengths of alkyl groups. It seems due to steric effect of alkyl groups of $R-BI^{\Theta}$ in Stern layer of micellar solution. The surfactant reagent, TTABr, strongly catalyzes the reaction of DPNPIN with R-BI and its anion($R-BI^{\Theta}$) in Carbonate buffer(pH 10.7). For example, $4{\times}10^{-4}$ M TTABr in $1{\times}10^{-4}$ M BI solution increase the rate constant($k_{\psi}=99.7{\times}10^{-4}1/sec$) of the dephosphorylation by a factor ca. 28, when compared with reaction($k_{\psi}=3.5{\times}10^{-4}1/sec$) in BI solution(without TTABr). And no TTABr solution, in BI solution increase the rate constant($k_{\psi}=3.5{\times}10^{-4}1/sec$) of the dephosphorylation by a factor ca. 39, when compared with reaction ($k_{\psi}=1.0{\times}10^{-5}1/sec$) in water solution(without BI).

COMPARISON OF HENYEY-GREENSTEIN WITH DRAINE SCATTERNING PHASE FUNCTIONS (DRAINE 과 HENYEY-GREENSTEIN 산란 위상 함수 비교)

  • Scattering of incident light by the interstellar dust is usually approximated by Henyey-Greenstein scattering phase function. Recently, Draine (2003) proposed a new analytic phase function with two parameters. We describe an algorithm to generate random numbers distributed according to the Draine’s function, and compare two phase functions. It is also derived exact solutions of two parameters for given values ${\langle}cos{\theta}{\rangle}$ and ${\langle}cos^2{\theta}{\rangle}$. It is found that Henyey-Greenstein function with g = ${\langle}cos{\theta}{\rangle}$ provides a good approximation for ${\lambda}\;>\;2000{\AA}$. At shorter wavelengths, more realistic phase function may be needed for radiative transfer models.

  • Two-dimensional, angle-resolved LDV(Laser Doppler Velocimetry) measurements of the turbulent rotating flow field in a confined cylinder have been performed. The configurations of interest are flows between a rotating upper disk with a rod attached by a disk or impeller(${\theta}= 90^{\circ},\;45^{\circ}$) and a stationary lower disk in a confined cylinder. The mean flow velocity as well as the turbulent intensity of the flow field have been measured. The results show that the flow is strongly dependent on the position of the impellers or the disk, negligibly affected by the Reynolds number in turbulent flow. It is observed that the mixing effect of the axial flow impeller(${\theta}= 45^{\circ}$) is better than that of the radial flow impeller(${\theta}= 90^{\circ}$) or a disk.

  • 일반적으로 이방성 전기강판의 자계 해석시, 자속밀도와 자계세기의 위상차를 고려하지 않고 그 크기만을 이용하여 자계 분포를 해석한다. 자속밀도와 자계세기는 그 방향이 같지 않기 때문에 유한요소 해석시, 반드시 그 위상차가 고려되어야 한다. 본 논문에서는 (B, ${\theta}_B$)법을 이용하여 2차원 자기 특성이 고려된 이방성 전기강판의 자계 분포를 해석하고, 그 결과를 일반적인 유한요소 해석 결과와 비교한다.

A two-stage elimination type procedure for selecting the largest gamma scale parameter (감마분포 처리의 최대 척도모수 선택에 관한 제거형 이단 선택방법)

  • Let $\Pi_i, \cdots, \Pi_k$ denote k gamma distributions with a common known shape parameter (degrees of freedom) r and scale parameters $\theta_1, \cdots, \theta_k$, respectively. Kim proposed an improved lower bound LB$(\delta^*)$, which concerns a two-stage elimimation type procedure for selecting the population associated with the largest scale parameter $max_{1\leqi\leqk} \theta_i$. The design constants (nr, mr, c) are given for k=4(1)10, $p^*=.95,.90 and \delta^*=1.75,2.0$. With these design constants, a comparison study was made with the procedure of Lee and Choi. As can be seen from the table, these are moderate amount of savings in the expected total sample size. Thus, together with the result in Lee and Choi, the two-stage procedure can perform much better than a single stage procedure.
