Highly Efficient PIV Measurement of Complex Flows Using Refractive Index Matching Technique

  • various applications is presented. It is based on rapid-prototyping of transparent model for flow visualization and on the use of refractive index matching that enables efficient and clear visualization of the flow inside the model. The model is immersed in the index-matching fluid in a glass tank so that any displacement and rotation of the model in the tank have no influence on the optical setup for image acquisition to be made through a glass wall. This can facilitate greatly the camera calibration for stereo PIV and 3-D PTV. As the flow model is generated directly from 3-D surface data, no laborious preparation of the flow model is needed. This approach for seamless linking of model generation and PIV measurement is applicable to various flow measurements in automobile, ship building, fluid machinery, turbine, electrical appliances, heat exchanger, electronic cooling, bio-engineering and so on.

  • The heavy ion accelerator that will be built in Daejeon, Korea utilizes superconducting cavities operating in 2 K. The cavities are QWR (quarter wave resonator), HWR (half wave resonator), SSR1 (sing spoke resonator1) and SSR2. The main role of the cryomodule is supplying thermal insulation for cryogenic operation of the cavities and maintaining cavities' alignment. Thermal and structural consideration such as thermal load by heat leak and heat generation, cryogenic fluid management, thermal contraction, and so on. This paper describes detailed design considerations and current results have being done including thermal load estimation, cryogenic flow piping, pressure relief system, and so on.

  • Sustainable development is a balance between environment and development. Sustainable development requires sustainable supplies of clean, affordable, and renewable energy sources that do not cause negative impact to the society. This article introduces a green chemistry method to synthesize 2-amino-4H-chromenes that reduces or eliminates the use and generation of hazardous substances in the design, manufacture, and application of chemical products. This method is described using copper (II) sulfate pentahydrate, as a green and reusable catalyst on water. The products were obtained at very good yields, short reaction time, and at lower cost than other reported procedures.

  • As the propeller end speed increases, the propeller surface is damaged in the process of bubble formation and dropout. It is intended to prevent the corrosion of the propeller by modifying the shape of the end through the winglet structure to mitigate the cavitation phenomenon. In the case of conventional SUS materials, the cost of production is so high that plastic materials are used to prevent corrosion. This paper aims to mitigate the cavitation by deforming the shape of the end through the winglet structure by using the SMC composite material of the propeller using the existing SUS.

정수처리공정의 THMs 생성과 농도변화에 관한 연구 (A Study on Formation and Concentration of Trihalomethanes in Water Treatment Process)

  • This study was carried out to investigate the effects of prechlorination and algae growth on THMs generation. The sample water obtained from Paldang Dam which is a main source of raw water for the Seoul metropolitan area. THMs concentration in the sample water was investigated in water treatment process prechlorifiation, chemical coagulation, and sand filtration. And also, THMs concentration were analyzed in the water which cultured algae in laboratory. The results were as follows 1. The THMs concentration produced by prechlorination unit process were increased in control (not purified) but decreased in process of purification. 2. The THMs concertration can reduce by increasing the number of cleaning filters. 3. The main precursor in raw water for the THMs generation was supplied by algae growth. So as to reduce the THMs concentration in water supplying system, it is the best method to manage algae growth in water body of Paldang reservoir.

  • Recently, ozone is utilized In various fields and its needs are expanding. therefore, so many ozone generation methods have been reported in the latest years, its main purpose Is to get the high ozone concentration and to improve the ozone yield. One of them is a plate-type ozone generator. In this paper, the plate-type ozone generator is piled up many folds(3 and 5 electrodes). Ozone concentration and yield were investigated in accordance with power, quantity of supplied gas and gap spacing of plate electrodes.

  • 새로운 마이크로프로세서의 설계, 최적화, 그리고 완성 후 어플리케이션의 작성 단계에서 칩의 명령어 집합 시뮬레이션은 필수적인 요소이다. 그러나, 기존의 시뮬레이션 툴들은 저 수준의 하드웨어 기술언어와 게이트 레벨 이하의 시뮬레이션으로 인해 시뮬레이터 구성과 실행 시에 상당한 시간적 지연을 초래하고 있다. 본 논문에서는 이러한 문제들을 해소하고 칩 제작과정에서 발생하는 잦은 설계 변경에 유연성 있게 대응할 수 있는 레지스터 전송 수준의 명령어 집합 시뮬레이터 생성기를 제안하며 그 설계 및 구현에 관해 기술한다.

  • This article proposes a smooth path generation and time scheduling method for general tasks defined by non-smooth path segments in industrial robotic applications. This method utilizes a simple 3rd order polynomial function for smooth interpolation between non-smooth path segments, so that entire task can effectively maintain constant line speed of operation. A predictor-corrector type numerical mapping technique, which correlates time based speed profile to the smoothed path in Cartesian space, is also provided. Finally simulation results show the feasibility of the proposed algorithm.

  • This study aims at inquiring into new generations' recognition of traditional foods to present the alternatives and suggestions of simplification, popularization and processed food for popularizing the foods suited to them. The findings on survey showed that they had a preference for development of simple food-oriented menu suited to new generation's way of thinking, under the maintenance of flavor and nutrition so that they can simply eat traditional foods through the simplification of cooking and the development of processed food. The result of this study showed significant influences that the first result is the knowledge on the cooking method in simplification, the second result is the knowledge on the flavor and nutrition in popularization of traditional food, and the third is the knowledge on the cooking method, the flavor and nutrition in the processed food.

  • Data Technology (DT) is a new technology which deals with data collection, data analysis, information generation from data, knowledge generation from modelling and future prediction. DT is a newly emerged interdisciplinary science & technology in this 21st century knowledge society. Even though the main body of DT is applied statistics, it also contains management information system (MIS), quality management, process system analysis and so on. Therefore, it is an interdisciplinary science and technology of statistics, management science, industrial engineering, computer science and social science. In this paper, first of all, the definition of DT is given, and then the effects and the basic properties of DT, the differences between IT and DT, the 6 step process for DT application, and a DT example are provided. Finally, the relationship among DT, e-Statistics and Data Mining is explained, and the direction of DT development is proposed.
