In this study, we investigated the inhibitory effect of four solvent fractions of Alnus firma on ${\alpha}-amylase$, ${\alpha}-glucosidase$ and aldose reductase activities. The inhibitory test showed that methanol (MeOH) extract and hexane (HX) fraction strongly inhibited pork pancreatin and salivary ${\alpha}-amylase$ activity. The MeOH extract and HX fraction of Alnus firma at the concentration of 4 mg/ml inhibited more than 70% of pancreatin and salivary ${\alpha}-amylase$ activity. The inhibitory effect of fractions has different specificities against ${\alpha}-amylase$ from pancreatin and salivary. In addition, the MeOH extract and butanol (BuOH) fraction showed the highest inhibitory activity on yeast ${\alpha}-glucosidase$ at values of $IC_{50}$$137.36\;{\mu}g/ml$ and $115.14\;{\mu}g/ml$ respectively. The MeOH extract and BuOH fraction showed the highest inhibitory activity on yeast ${\alpha}-glucosidase$ than commercial agent such as 1-deoxynorjirimycin and acarbose. Inhibition kinetics of solvent fractions showed that ${\alpha}-glucosidase$ has been inhibited noncompetitively by the MeOH, EA and BuOH fraction. The aldose reductase from human muscle cell had been inhibited strongly by the MeOH extract and EA fraction at 57.996% and 83.293% at the concentration of $50\;{\mu}g/ml$, respectively. These findings may contribute to biological significance in that ${\alpha}-amylase$, ${\alpha}-glucosidase$ and aldose reductase inhibitory compounds could be used as a functional food and a drug for the symptomatic treatment of antidiabetic disease in the future.

This study was conducted to investigate the potential of chicken feather (CF), which is a by-product in poultry industry, as a raw material of wood adhesives. For the purpose, adhesive resins were formulated with NaOH- and $H_2SO_4$-hydrolyzed CF as well as crosslinkers, and then the properties and water resistance of the adhesive resins against hot water were measured. CF was made of mainly keratin-type protein, and no or very low content of heavy metals was detected. Hydrolysis rate of CF increased as NaOH concentration in hydrolysis solutions increased. However, in order to minimize the loss of adhesive property of protein itself by the severe hydrolysis of CF and to seek its proper hydrolysis conditions, NaOH concentrations in hydrolysis solution determined to adjust to 5%, 7.5% and 10%. In the NaOH-hydrolyzed CF, $H_2SO_4$-hydrolyzed CF as a hardener and crosslinker were added to formulate CF-based adhesive resins. Solid content of the resins ranged from 28.3% to 44.8% depending on hydrolysis conditions and type of crosslinker. Viscosity of the resins at $25^{\circ}C$ was very high. However, when the temperature of the resins was increased to $50^{\circ}C$, the viscosity decreased greatly and thus the resins could be applied as a sprayable resin. Retention rate measured to evaluate the water resistance of adhesive resins was the highest in the cured resin formulated with 5% NaOH-hydrolyzed CF and 5% $H_2SO_4$-hydrolyzed CF of 10% based on the solid weight as a hardener. Retention rate depending on crosslinkers added into adhesive resins was the highest phenol-formaldehyde (PF) followed by melamine-urea-formaldehyde (MUF) and formalin. The retention rate of CF-based adhesives formulated with 5% NaOH-hydrolyzed CF, PF and $H_2SO_4$-hydrolyzed CF of 10% and over did not differ statistically from that of commercial MUF resins. All of CF-based adhesives formulated with PF as a crosslinker and one with 5% NaOH-hydrolyzed CF of 55%, 5% $H_2SO_4$-hydrolyzed CF of 15%, and MUF of 30% on the basis of solid weight could be substituted for commercial urea-formaldehyde resins, From the results, CF can be used as a raw material of wood adhesives if hydrolyzed in proper conditions.

The use of Hydrogen as a fuel is receiving considerable attention and as a result, research on novel methods of hydrogen production is necessary so that the hydrogen demands in the future can be satisfied. This study presents experimental data on methanol Autothermal Reformation that quantifies the relationship between the oxygen-to-methanol ratio ($O_2/CH_3OH$) and reformer efficiency. For each catalyst configuration, the $O_2/CH_3OH$ was varied from 0.1 to 0.4, with an increment of 0.05, to investigate the effects of $O_2/CH_3OH$ on the reactor performance, including temperature profile, conversion, and efficiency. $O_2/CH_3OH$ was increased from 0.15 to 0.20, and the catalyst bed temperature increased by $235^{\circ}C$ to approximately $550^{\circ}C$. The catalyst bed temperature increased with increasing $O_2/CH_3OH$ as the reaction shifted from endothermic to exothermic reaction and as a result, excess heat, which raised the reactor temperature, was generated. The reactor performance was shown to be highly dependent on $O_2/CH_3OH$. The optimum $O_2/CH_3OH$ = 0.30 found in the experimental tests is 30% higher than the theoretical optimum of 0.23. This is attributed to a combination of factors such as the concentrations of the $O_2$ and $CH_3OH$ gas, reaction rate, catalyst effects, heat loss from the reactor, and the difference between the actual amounts of reaction products formed and the theoretical amounts of the reaction products.

CaO was prepared by calcining for oyster shells using a microwave kiln. It was analyzed to Ca(OH)2 synthed on hydration reaction from prepared CaO. The synthesized Ca(OH)2 was formulated as an external water paint. Oyster shells (325 mesh, 43 ㎛) were decarbonized for (a) 950 ℃/1 hr and (b) 1,150 ℃/1 hr to prepare CaO. In the calcination condition of (a), CaO was 56.7 wt%, and in the calcination condition of (b), CaO was 100 wt%. To compare CaO by calcination of oyster shells with that of limestone, limestone (25~30 mm) was decarbonized at 950 ℃/1 hr to prepare CaO, and as a result of the analysis(XRD), it was analyzed as CaO 100 wt%. CaO was prepared under the calcining conditions of oyster shells (b) 1,150 ℃/1 hr, and Ca(OH)2 was synthesized through hydration. Hydration conditions of the prepared CaO were (a) CaO : H2O(100 g : 200 g) and (b) CaO : H2O(100 g : 400 g). As a result of the hydration reaction, it was confirmed as low reactivity. 100 wt% of Ca(OH)2 was synthesized. In particular, Ca(OH)2 synthesized under the hydration condition of (a) was analyzed in a plate shape. An external water paint was formulated with Ca(OH)2 synthesized from oyster shells as the main component. When 15 items of the external water paint standard specification (KS M 6010) were analyzed, it was confirmed that all other criteria were satisfied except for freezing stability.
We show a series of improved subseries convergence results, e.g., in a sequentially complete locally convex space X every weakly $c_0$-Cauchy series on X must be $c_0$-convergent. Thus, if X contains no copy of $c_0$, then every weakly $c_0$-Cauchy series on X must be subseries convergent.
The flame chemiluminescence is a good tracer of flame statement. In this study, the characteristics of flame chemiluminescence($OH^*$, $CH^*$, ${C_2}^*$) according different measuring locations using photomultiplier(PMT), spectrometer and CCD camera. Measurements are made for $OH^*$, $CH^*$, ${C_2}^*$ radicals in gas & light oil diffusion flames. At turbulent nonpremixed combustion mode, the equivalence ratio is varied. The experimental results showed that measuring location affects the result of flame chemiluminescence.

Recently, with the rapid development of the waveguide division multiplexing (WDM) systems for large capacity and flexibility of information network, the broad band 1.5$\mu\textrm{m}$ erbium-doped waveguide amplifier (EDWA) become important. The main factors affecting the performance of sol-gel-based waveguides are non-radiative relaxation channels due to rare-earth concentration quenching and to vibration of the OH groups Therefore, the sol-gel process has to be carefully controlled in order to minimize the residual OH content.

An increasing interest in fire safety engineering can currently be identified in Korea and overseas. The fire-resistant characteristics of spray coating material for fire protection with or without nano $Al(OH)_3$ colloid has been experimentally investigated and the results are presented in this paper. The fire-resistance characteristics of spray coating material with nano $Al(OH)_3$ were superior to those without $Al(OH)_3$. Especially, spray coating material with nano material showed that thermal characteristic in the early days was remarkably excellent.

All that is presently known about the actions of 8-hydroxyguanine (8-oxoguanine; oh$^{8}$ Gua) in DNA is that it harms genetic integrity. This is even speculation based upon scattered in vitro experimental data such as the mismatch of oh$^{8}$ Gua with A in stead of C and the GC longrightarrow TA transversion observed in the DNA polymerase reaction using an oh$^{8}$ Gua containing oligonucleotide.(omitted)
We investigate models for the IRAS LRS)Low Resolution Spectra) of OH/IR stars. OH/IR stars often show the silicate features at 9.7 ${mu}m$ and $18{mu}m$ in the spectra obtained by the IRAS LRS as well as remarkably red values in the IRAS photometric colors such as [60]-[25] and [25]-[12]. We compare the radiative transfer model results with observed spectral energy distributions (SEDs) of the stars including IRAS PSC(Point Source Catalog), IRAS LRS and ground based observational data.
