To identify distribution of epilithic diatom assemblages and the relationship between diatoms and water chemistry, samples were collected twice a year from 2008 to 2012, from at 6 streams in Jeju Island, South Korea. A total of 171 diatom taxa were identified, and Achnanthes lanceolata, Gomphonema pumilum, Melosira varians, Navicula minima and Nitzschia palea were dominantly observed. BOD ranged 0.0~1.6 mg $L^{-1}$, TN 0.230~13.240 mg $L^{-1}$ (average 4.432 mg $L^{-1}$), TP 0.020~0.316 mg $L^{-1}$ (average 0.092 mg $L^{-1}$), and N/P rate ranged 2.5~178.5. Average of epilithic algal chlorophyll-a and AFDM were 1.1 ${\mu}gcm^{-2}$ and 0.6 mg $cm^{-2}$, respectively. According to BOD standard, the water qualities of study area sites were at 'Good' level. However, the healthiness levels assessed from DAIpo and TDI were 'Fair' to 'Poor'.
In order to know the physicochemical properties of magnetized water, the experimental methods of column assay, crystalization of saltsand gypsom have been explored to elucidate the effects of magnetized water on the solubility speed of salts, crystal pattern from salt squeous solutions, and gypsom crystal pattern, respectively. In the column assay for salt solubility the magnetized water showed the decreased initial solubility speed of NaCl and slightly increased initial solubility spped of KCI, however, the maximum solugilities of NaCl and KCI in the magnetized aster were almost same in the double distilled water, respectively. The column assay also indicated that the magnetized water showed the decreased initial solubility speed of urea (CH$_4$N$_2$O), sodium citrate (HOC(CO$_2$Na)-(CH$_2$CO$_2$Na)$_2$-2H$_2$O) and (NH$_4$)$_2$compared to the double distilled water, while slightly increased solubility speed of glycine (NH$_2$CH$_2$COOH), boric acid (H$_3$BO$_3$), MgSO$_4$. Crystalization of 1% or 5% salt aqueous solutions by rapid evaporation disclosed that the magnetized water produced more condensed and bigger crystal structure than the control water. The pattern of gypsom crystal formation also indicated that the magntized water enhanced the crystal formation in the hydration reaction of gypsom plaster compared to the double distilled water. Taken together, it was presumed that the magnetized water showed the different physicochemical properties in the interaction with various salts, especially showed the contrast results between NaCl and KCI.
Two strains (No. 26 and 143) of bacteria which secrete both pectinase and raw-starch-digesting amylase simultaneously, were isolated from various domestic soil samples. The two bacteria were identified as Pasteurella ureae judging by their morphological and physiological characteristics. The optimal culture conditions for the production of raw-starch-digesting enzyme by the Pasteurella ureae 26 were using $NH_4NO_3$ as the nitrogen source at $37^{\circ}C$ with the pH of 7.5, and 15 of C/N ratio. Since the enzyme was produced only when raw or soluble starch was used as a carbon source, but not when glucose or other sugars was used, the enzyme was considered to be an inducible enzyme by starch. Thin layer chromatography of the hydrolyzed product of starch by the raw-starch-digesting enzyme of the strain No. 26 showed that glucose, maltose and other oligosaccharides were present in the hydrolyzates, and therefore the enzyme seemed to be ${\alpha}-amylase$. The enzyme had adsorbability onto raw com starch in the pH range of 3 to 9.
To determine the nutritional value of domestic tomatoes, the levels of amino acids, amino acid metabolites, and the bioactive compound ${\gamma}-aminobutyric-acid$ (GABA) were analyzed in three domestic tomato varieties (Rafito, Momotaro, and Medison). Eighteen free amino acids were found, and total free amino acid content was 3,810.21~4,594.56 mg/100 g (dry weight). L-glutamic acid (L-Glu) was the most abundant amino acid, ranging from 1,866.60 mg/100 g for Momotaro to 2,417.45 mg/100 g for Medison. The next most abundant amino acids were L-glutamine (L-Gln) and L-aspartic acid (L-Asp). The three tomato varieties had a good balance of all the essential amino acids except tryptophan. Total essential amino acid content was 274.26~472.71 mg/100 g (dry weight). The following amino acid metabolites were found: L-carnitine (L-Car), hydroxylysine (Hyl), o-phosphoethanolamine (o-Pea), phosphoserine (p-Ser), ${\beta}-alanine$ (${\beta}-Ala$), N-methyl-histidine (Me-His), ethanolamine (EtNH2),and L-citrulline(L-Cit). Large quantities of GABA were found in all three varieties: 666.95-868.48 mg/100g (dry weight). These results support the use of these tomato varieties as nutritious food materials.
Research on tripodal complexes has grown in recent decades and has been subject of numerous reports.1-11 The reasons for this interest include their relevance to model functions of metalloenzymes1-3 and their potential applications in catalysis.13-17 The ligand system used most in this category has been tren, the tripodal tetraamine N(CH2CH2NH2)3, and its derivatives.4 The bz3tren is a versatile tetradentate ligand, known to form stable complexes not only with transition metals5-11 including Cu2+, Zn2+ and Co2+ but also anion species.12 However, only few results on the d10 metal complexes with bz3tren have been reported by us10 and others.6,7 As a part of on going efforts, we therefore focus our attention to extend other d10 system that includes heavy metal ions.
In order to investigate a practical application of fibrous absorbents to transition metals such as copper, nickel, cobalt, chrome, and iron, amidoximated fiber as a particular class of solid chelate agents were prepared from acrylic fibers treatment with hydroxylamine. The adsorption mechanisms of metal ions onto amidoximated acrylic fibers and their complexes were studied. Amidoximation of acrylic fiber with hydroxylamine is found to be first-order reaction, followed by the disappearance of infrared adsorption peaks due to nitrile groups of acrylic fibers. The uptake of metal ions onto amidoximated acrylic fiber is increased with temperature raising and the adsorption is also depended on pH of the soiutions. About 70% of metal ions can be recovered from aqueous solutions of Ni(II), Co(II), Cr(III), and Fe(II) on the concentration below 5x 10$^$^{-4}$ in the range of pH 2.1~10.0. Transition metals are adsorbed to form complex with amidoxime group by the ligand sites such as C=N, NH, NO, NHOH.OH.
Ultrafine NiO/YSZ (Yttria Stabilized Zirconia) powders were made by using a glycine nitrate process which is used as anode material for solid oxide fuel cells. The specific surface areas of synthesized NiO/YSZ powders were examined with controlling pH of a precursor solution and the content of glycine. The binding of glycine with metal nitrates occurring in the precursor solution was analyzed by using FTIR. The characteristics of synthesized powders were examined with X-ray diffraction(XRD) Brunauer Emmett Teller with N2 absorption. scanning electron microscopy (SEM). and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). Ultrafine NiO/YSZ powders of 15-18 m2/g were obtained through GNP when the content of glycine was controlled to 1 or 2 times the stoichiometric ratio in the precursor solutions. Strongly acid precursor solution increased the specific surface area of the synthesized powders. This is suggested to be the increased binding of metal nitrates and glycine under a strong acid solution of pH=0.5 that lets glycine consist of mainly the amine group of {{{{ { NH}`_{3 } ^{+ } }}. After sintering and reducing treatment of NiO/YSZ powders synthesized by GNP the Ni/YSZ pellet showed ideal microstructure where very fine Ni particles of 3-5 ${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ were distributed uniformly and fine pore around Ni metal particles was formed. leading to anincrease of the triple phase boundary among gas Ni and YSZ.
There are a lot of parameters affecting microbial acclimation/cultivation characteristics such as dynamic conditions, F/M ratio and substrate affinity. From the process control point of view, the effect of high salinity on the removal efficiencies of BOD and SS have been documented by few researchers. In this research, lab-scale CAS(Conventional Activated Sludge) process and modified $A_2O$(Anaerobic/Anoxic/Oxic) process were operated and monitored to evaluate the characteristics of microbial acclimation and cultivation under high salinity wastewater during the period of three weeks. As a result of acute microbial activity test(6hr) at various $Cl^-$ concentration, the appropriate $Cl^-$ concentration for microbial growth and acclimation ranged under 3,100 mg/l. As a result of acclimation/cultivation test, the trend of COD removal efficiency reduced gradually as time elapsed. It is considered that $NH_4$-N removal phenomenon of the conventional pollutants removal mechanisms gave little effect to the microbial acclimation/cultivation under high salinity wastewater.

The aim of this work is to develop a new computational program to determine the effect of using the gas of propulsion of combustion chamber at high temperature on the shape of the two-dimensional Minimum Length Nozzle giving a uniform and parallel flow at the exit section using the method of characteristics. The selected gases are $H_2$, $O_2$, $N_2$, CO, $CO_2$, $H_2O$, $NH_3$, $CH_4$ and air. All design parameters depend on the stagnation temperature, the exit Mach number and the used gas. The specific heat at constant pressure varies with the temperature and the selected gas. The gas is still considered as perfect. It is calorically imperfect and thermally perfect below the threshold of dissociation of molecules. A error calculation between the parameters of different gases with air is done in this case for purposes of comparison. Endless forms of nozzles may be found based on the choise of $T_0$, $M_E$ and the selected gas. For nozzles delivering same exit Mach number with the same stagnation temperature, we can choose the right gas for aerospace manufacturing rockets, missiles and supersonic aircraft and for supersonic blowers as needed in settings conception.
