  • Sodium borohydride, $NaBH_4$, shows a number of advantages as hydrogen source for portable proton exchange membrane fuel cells (PEMFCs). Properties of $NaBH_4$ hydrolysis reaction using activated carbon supported Co-B/C, Co-P-B/C catalyst were studied. BET surface area of catalyst, yield of hydrogen, effect of $NaBH_4$ concentration and durability of catalyst were measured. The BET surface area of carbon supported catalyst was over $500m^2/g$ and this value was 2~3 times higher than that of unsupported catalyst. Hydrogen generation of activated carbon supported catalyst was more stable than that of unsupported catalyst. The activation energy of Co-P-B/C catalyst was 59.4 kJ/mol in 20 wt% $NaBH_4$ and 14% lower than that of Co-P-B/FeCrAlloy catalyst. Catalyst loss on activated carbon supported catalyst was reduced to about 1/3~1/2 compared with unsupported catalyst, therefore durability was improved by supporting catalyst on activated carbon.

  • An apparatus for continuous sterilization of fluids in which heating-up and cooling time are negligible enabled determination of the kinetics of thermal inactivation of peroxidase for the range of temperatures $110{\sim}140^{\circ}C$. The enthalpy of activation was 146.4 kJ/mol; free energy of activation, 113kJ/mol; and the entropy of activation, 82.9J/mol.K. Comparisons of the experimental results with the thermal destruction time curves of microorganisms showed the possibility that the time required to inactivate peroxidase might be taken into account in evaluating thermal processes for commerciel HTST methods.

  • We have developed technology to fabricate large-size active matrix organic light-emitting diode (AMOLED) displays with good color purity. Using these innovations, we have developed a 40inch diagonal WXGA AMOLED full color display. Because the TFT circuitry occupies a large portion of the pixel structure, an efficient white emission OLED is essential to integrate the device onto the active matrix backplane. The development of these technologies enables OLED displays to fulfill the requirements for larger size applications such as HDTVs

  • Let $\mathcal{A}$ and $\mathcal{B}$ be two $C^*$-algebras such that $\mathcal{A}$ is prime. In this paper, we investigate the additivity of maps ${\Phi}$ from $\mathcal{A}$ onto $\mathcal{B}$ that are bijective and satisfy $${\Phi}(A^*B+{\eta}BA^*)={\Phi}(A)^*{\Phi}(B)+{\eta}{\Phi}(B){\Phi}(A)^*$$ for all $A,B{\in}\mathcal{A}$ where ${\eta}$ is a non-zero scalar such that ${\eta}{\neq}{\pm}1$. Moreover, if ${\Phi}(I)$ is a projection, then ${\Phi}$ is a ${\ast}$-isomorphism.
