Synthesis and Hydrolysis-Resistance Characterization of Waterborne Polyurethane (Waterborne Polyurethane의 합성 및 내가수분해 특성 연구)

  • In this study, waterborne polyurethane was prepared from polyester polyol, $H_{12}MDI$, DMPA and sulfopropylated polypropyleneglycol-${\alpha}$,${\omega}$-diamine (SP). The $T_g$ of waterborne polyurethane was increased as the SP content increased, while it was decreased at the NCO/OH ratio of 1.8. Also the hydrolysis-resistance and tensile strength were increased as the SP content increased. The tensile strength decrement of WPU-SP was 2~5% with the exception of WPU-SP-1.

Comparison of Several Heat Stress Indices for the 2016 Heat Wave in Daegu (대구의 2016년 폭염시기 열 스트레스 지표의 비교)

  • We compared the spatial distribution of several heat stress indices (the Wet-Bulb Globe Temperature(WBGT) index, Environmental Stress Index (ESI), and Modified Discomfort Index(MDI)) for the heat wave of June 6~August 26, 2016, in Daegu. We calculated the heat stress indices using data from the high density urban climate observation network in Daegu. The observation system was established in February. 2013. We used data from a total of 38 air temperature observation points (23 thermometers and 18 automatic weather stations). The values of the heat stress indices indicated that the danger level was very high from 0900-2000h in downtown Daegu. The daily maximum value of the WBGT was greater than or equal to $35^{\circ}C$. The differences in the heat stress indices from downtown and rural areas were higher in the daytime than at nighttime. The maximum difference was about 4 before and after 1400h, and the time variations of the heat stress indices corresponded well. Thus, we were able to confirm that the ESI and MDI can be substituted with the WBGT index.

A study on synthesis of polyurethane dispersion by $H_{12}MDI$ and how effect to mechanical properties by ammonium dihydrogen phosphate ($H_{12}MDI$를 이용한 수분산 폴리우레탄 수지의 합성 및 ammonium dihydrogen phosphate에 의한 물성변화에 관한 연구)

  • For this research, prepared ammonium dihydrogen phosphate aqueous solution and polyurethane dispersion. Use these resin, this article has been analyzed about change of mechanical properties by increasing amount of ammonium dihydrogen phosphate aqueous solution in polyurethan resin on coated leather and dried film. According to measure data for solvent resistance, DPU(polyurethane dispersion) resin and DPU-AD1, D2, D3(samples of polyurethaneresin with ammonium dihydrogen phosphate aqueous solution) had good property. As known in the results, increase of ammonium dihydrogen phosphate constant did not influence to big change of polyurethane resin properties. As test of tensile strength, DPU had highest tensile characteristic($3.114kg_f/mm^2$) and DPU-AD3 had lowest tensile characteristic($2.510kg_f/mm^2$). As same as tensile characteristic, abrasion test determined DPU(50.5 mg.loss) had highest properties. In elongation case, DPU had best properties(602 %) in this experiment.

  • In this study, Waterborne polyurethanes (WPU) using Epoxy group were synthesized with polyester polyol, epoxy resin, 4,4-dicyclohexylmethane diisocyanate ($H_{12}MDI$), dimethylol propionic acid (DMPA) to improve the hydrolysis resistance and adhesion. In addition, the properties of the synthesized waterborne polyurethane was evaluated through DSC, UTM, adhesion strength. Tg of the synthesized waterborne polyurethane is shown in the vicinity of $-50^{\circ}C$. Tg were increased with as epoxy resin contents increased. The tensile strength was increased as the content of epoxy resin increases, elongation was decreased. Optimum adhesion and hydrolysis-resistance strength were obtained when polyol : epoxy ratio was 99 : 1.

  • In this study, waterborne polyurethane (WPU)/nano ZnO was synthesized from various polyester polyols, 4,4-dicyclohexylmethane diisocyanate ($H_{12}MDI$), dimethylolpropionic acid (DMPA), triethylamine (TEA) and ethylenediamine (EDA), nano ZnO. The contents of metal oxide were varied from 0 to 1.0 wt% of total solid. The effects of nano ZnO contents and ionic contents in the WPU/nano ZnO on thermal, mechanical properties were studied. The glass transition temperature ($T_g$) of WPU/nano ZnO do not show a distinct tendency with incorporation of nano ZnO and the $T_g$ of WPU/nano ZnO a little increased with increase of DMPA contents. The tensile strength and 100% modulus increase and elongation at break decreases with increase of nano ZnO contents and DMPA contents.

  • In this study, waterborne polyurethane acrylate were synthesized with polyester polyol, 4,4-dicyclohexylmethane diisocyanate ($H_{12}MDI$), dimethylol propionic acid (DMPA), acrylate monomer to improve the properties and peel strength. In addition, the properties of the synthesized waterborne polyurethane acylate was evaluated through FT-IR, particle size analysis, UTM, peel strength. As the acrylic acid content increased, particle size increased. In the results of mechanical properties, when the acrylic acid contents increased, tensile strength was increased but elongation was decreased. All peel strength was improved as the acrylic acid contents of WPUA and acrylate ratio of PU/acrylate increased. Optimum peel strength obtained when acrylic acid was 0.5 wt%.

Adhesion Property of Low-Viscosity Polyurethane Hot-Melt Adhesive in according to the Deblocking Temperature and Content of Reactive Diluents (해리온도와 반응성 희석제 함량에 따른 저점도 폴리우레탄 핫멜트 접착제의 접착특성)

  • In this study, low-viscosity polyurethane hot-melt were synthesized with polyether polyol / polyester polyol, 4,4-dicyclohexylmethane diisocyanate ($H_{12}MDI$), 2-butanone oxime (MEKO) to improve the properties and peel strength. The properties of the synthesized low-viscosity polyurethane hot-melt was evaluated through FT-IR, viscosity meter and UTM. When the content of the reactive diluent increases and the NCO-blocked prepolymer decreases, the viscosity of low-viscosity polyurethane hot-melt adhesive was increased. When the ratio of OH-terminated oligomer, NCO-blocked prepolymer and content of reactive diluent is 1 : 0.5 : 0.5, low-viscosity polyurethane hot-melt showed 1.1 kgf/cm peel strength.

  • In this study, polyurethane dispersion was prepared by polyester polyol, 4,4-dicyclohexylmethane diisocyanate ($H_{12}MDI$), dimethylolpropionic acid (DMPA), and monomeric diol. The effect of various monomeric diol, polyol/monomeric diol molar ratio and DMPA contents on the properties of polyurethane dispersion were investigated. As the molecular weight of monomeric diol and monomeric diol molar ratio increased, $T_g$ gradually increased. And when DMPA contents increased, also $T_g$ gradually increased. In the results of mechanical properties, when the molecular weight of monomeric diol, monomeric diol molar ratio of polyol/monomeric diol and DMPA contents increased, tensile strength was increased. Finally, optimum peel strength obtained when polyol/monomeric diol ratio was 8 : 2.

  • Waterborne polyurethane (WPU) which is environment friendly has been rapidly used in coating and adhesive industries. However, the WPU is deficient in chemical resistance, thermal resistance, and mechanical property compared to solvent-based polyurethane. In this study, the WPU was synthesized from two types of polyester polyols, 4,4-dicyclohexylmethane diisocyanate ($H_{12}MDI$), dimethylolpropionic acid (DMPA), triethylamine (TEA) and ethylenediamine (EDA), organophilic nanoclay. The thermal stability, mechanical property of the WPU nanocomposite dispersion increased with increasing clay concentration. Especially, their peel strength showed their maximum value at 3 wt% of organophilic nanoclay contents.

Synthesis and Adhesion Properties of Waterborne Polyurethane Adhesives for Footwear according to Polyol Blending

  • In order to improve the water resistance, we synthesized waterborne polyurethane by using polyester polyol, poly(propylene carbonate) (PPC), 4,4'-dicyclohexylmethane diisocyanate ($H_{12}MDI$), and dimethylolpropionic acid (DMPA). The properties of the synthesized waterborne polyurethane using poly(propylene carbonate) (WPUP) were evaluated by FT-IR, $^1H-NMR$, GPC, DSC, TGA, and UTM. The mechanical properties increased while the adhesion properties decreased with the increase in the amount of PPC. The highest water resistance was shown when the ratio of polyester polyol to PPC was 9:1.
