Application of GA to Design on Optimal Multivariable $H_{\infty}$ Control System (최적 다변수 $H_{\infty}$ 제어 시스템의 설계를 위한 GA의 적용)

  • The aim of this paper is to suggest a design method of the optimal multivariable $H_{\infty}$ control system using genetic algorithm (GA). This $H_{\infty}$ control system is designed by applying GA to the optimal determination of weighting functions and design parameter $\gamma$ that are given by Glover-Doyle algorithm which can design $H_{\infty}$ controller in the state space. The first method to do this is that the gains of weighting functions and $\gamma$ are optimized simultaneously by GA with tournament method. And the second method is that not only the gains and $\gamma$ but also the dynamics of weighting functions are optimized at the same time by eA with roulette-wheel method. The effectiveness of this $H_{\infty}$ control system is verified by computer simulation.

  • In this paper, we show based on Lyapunov theorem that the closed loop system with the constrained H$_{\infty}$ optimal controller is exponentially stable. Then the on-line feedback implementation of the constrained H$_{\infty}$ optimal control based on quadratic programs is proposed.

  • The aim of this study is to analyse the problems occurred by using classical algorithm to synthesize the H$\infty$ optimal controller. The obtained result of analysis applied to the composition of algorithm for the new H$\infty$ optimal controller which was introduced in this study. The study investigates and compares H$\infty$ optimal controller formed by new algorithm with the one formed by classical algorithm. In particular, robustness related to the robust control is systematically described by using the composition of algorithm for the classical H$\infty$ optimal controller. In addition, the flow charts classified into classical algorithm and new one are discussed to synthesize the H$\infty$ optimal controller.

  • A mixed method between $H_2\;and\;H_{\infty}$ control are widely applied to systems which has parameter perturbation and uncertain model to obtain an optimal robust controller. Brushless Direct Current (BLDC) motors are widely used for high performance control applications. Conventional PID controller only provides satisfactory performance for set-point regulation. However, with the presence of nonlinearities, uncertainties and perturbations in the system, conventional PID is not sufficient to achieve an optimal robust controller. This paper presents an approach to ease designing a Mixed $H_2/H_{\infty}$ PID controller for controlling speed of Brushless DC motors and the genetic algorithm is used to solve the optimized problems. Numerical results are shown to prove that the performance in the proposed controller is better than that in the optimal PID controller using LQR approach.

  • The aim of this paper is to suggest a design method of the model following optimal boiler-turbine H.inf. control system using genetic algorithm. This boiler-turbine H.inf. control system is designed by applying genetic algortihm with reference model to the optimal determination of weighting functions and design parameter .gamma. that are given by Glover-Doyle algornithm whch can design H.inf. contrlaaer in the sate. space. The first method to do this is ghat the gains of weightinf functions and .gamma. are optimized simultaneously by genetic algroithm. And the second method is that not only the gains and .gamma. but also the dynamics of weighting functions are optimized at the same time by genetic algonithm. The effectiveness of this boiler-turbine H.inf. control system is verified and compared with LQG/LTR control system by computer simulation.

  • In this paper we proposed the digital implementation of an $H^{\infty}$-optimal controller using lifting technique and $H^{\infty}$-control theory. The discrete controller is obtained through iterative adjustment of sampling time and weighting function, which can ber performed by computing the L$_{2}$-induced input to output norm of the sampled-data system with bandlimited exogenous input. The resulting sampled-data bandlimited exogenous input. The resulting sampled-data system is stable and the performance including inter-sampling behaviour of the hybrid system can be also optimized.d.

  • In this paper, we design the H$\infty$ optimal controller satisfying robust stability and performance in spite of the plant uncertainty for an electro-mechanical actuator system and analyze the controller in frequency domain. H$\infty$ optimal controller K was designed using iteration algorithm suggested by DOYLE. Using the controller in an electro-mechanical actuator system, the joint with very small coupling rigidity coefficient was used to vary the control parameter. The plant unstructured uncertainty was assumed to be a multiplicative type.

  • In 1980's to 1990's the marine propulsion diesel engines have been developed into lower speed and longer stroke for the energy saving(small S.F.O.C.). As these new trends the convetional mechnical-hydraulic governors were not adapted to the new requirements and the digital governors have been adopted in the marine use. The digital governors usually use the control algorithms such as the PID control, optimal control, adaptive control and etc. While the engine has delay time and parameter variations these control algorithms have difficulty in considering the stability and the robustness for the model uncertainty. In this study, the $H_{\infty}$ controller design method are applied to the speed control of the low speed marine diesel engine. By comparison the $H_{\infty}$ control results with the PID control results, the validity of the $H_{\infty}$ controller under the delay time and parameter variations is confirmed.
