The metabolic discrimination of safflowers from various geographical origins was performed using 1H nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy followed by principal components analysis. With a combination of these techniques, safflower samples from different origins could be discriminated using the first two principal components (PC) of the 1H NMR spectra of the 50% methanol fractions. PC1 and PC2 accounted cumulatively for 91.3% of the variation in all variables. The major peaks in the 1H NMR spectra that contributed to the discrimination were assigned to fatty acid (terminal CH3), lactic acid, acetic acid, choline derivatives, glycine, and safflower yellow derivatives. In this study, we suggest that various types of safflower can be discriminated using PCA and 1H NMR spectra.

Multinuclear solid-state nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) experiments were performed to investigate the local structure changes of nanoporous silica during hydrothermal treatment and surface modification with 3-aminopropyltriethoxysilane (3-APTES). The nanoporous silica was prepared by sol-gel polymerization using inexpensive sodium silicate as a silica precursor. Using $^1H$ magic angle spinning (MAS) NMR spectra, the hydroxyl groups, which play an important role in surface reactions, were probed. Various silicon sites such as $Q^2$, $Q^3$, $Q^4$, $T^2$, and $T^3$ were identified with $^{29}Si$ cross polarization (CP) MAS NMR spectra and quantified with $^{29}Si$ MAS NMR spectra. The results indicated that about 25% of the silica surface was modified. $^1H$ and $^{29}Si$ NMR data proved that the hydrothermal treatment induced dehydration and dehyroxylation. The $^{13}C$ CP MAS and $^1H$ MAS NMR spectra of 3-APTES attached on the surface of nanoporous silica revealed that the amines of the 3-aminopropyl groups were in the chemical state of ${NH_3}^+$ rather than $NH_2$.

The tautomerism in 3-phenyl-4-arylazo-5-isoxazolones 1 was examined by $^1H-NMR$ spectra of $^15N-labeled$ compound and by HMO method. Both spectra data $(^1H-NMR\;and\;IR)$ and bonding energies are in support of the assignment of the hydrazone structure to such compounds. It is further shown that intermolecular and intramolecular hydrogen bondings favor the hydrazone tautomer.
Metabonomic analysis has been recognized as a powerful approach for characterizing metabolic changes in biofluids due to toxicity, disease process or environmental influences. To investigate the possibility of relating metabolic changes with $^{1}H-NMR$ spectra, urine samples from Sprague-Dawley rats treated with various dietary restrictions or toxic substances (nicotine) were analysed using $^{1}H-NMR$ spectroscopy and pattern recognition techniques. Dietary restrictions-given to male rats were normal diet and high fat diet and fasting. The nicotine urine samples were collected from SD rats administered with nicotine (25 mg/kg) at the various time intervals. $^{1}H-NMR$ spectra of all urine samples were acquired at 400 MHz on a VARIAN spectrometer. To establish the presence of any intrinsic class-related patterns or clusters in each NMR data, methods of PCA (principal component analysis) and soft independent modeling of class analogy (SIMCA) analysis were used, and the results from these analyses were compared to each other. In all cases of dietary conditions and nicotine treatment, SIMCA analysis gave better results for the discrimination of NMR spectra of urine samples than PCA.

The $^1$H and $^{13}$ C NMR spectra of chivosazole F from Sorangium cellulosum were completely assigned by a combination of ID and 2D NMR techniques. The configurations of double bonds were confirmed from the ROESY spectra. The stereochemistry at asymmetric carboncenters was partially assigned on the basis of the results of NOE analysis.
The principle of Fourier Transform Nuclear Magnetic Resonance and its usefulness in the fields of pharmacy and biological sciences are described. 1. The $^1H\;and\;^{13}C$ NMR spectra of triostin A and its mixture with purine derivatives were taken. From the analysis of the spectra it has established that triostin A, which exists in two symmetric conformers in chloroform solution, forms complexes only with purine derivatives by the participation of one of the conformers. 2. Also, the $^{13}C$ NMR spectra of "intact" substances in the field of pharmacognosy were taken. From the spectra it was suggested that the method is very useful for natural product research in cooperation with the chemical method.
1H NMR spectra of methyl-, ethyl-, propyl-, isopropyl-, butyl-, N-methylethyl-, N-methylpropyl-, and N-methylisopropylamine coordinated to the paramagnetic 11-tungstocobalto(II)silicate anion (SiW11Co) in dimethylsulfoxide-d6 or dimethylformamide-d7 are reported. For these complexes the ligand exchange is slow on the NMR time scale and pure 1H NMR signals have been observed at room temperature. No complex is detected in D2O. From the pseudocontact shifts of the CH2 and CH3 groups in ethylamine the energy of the gauche conformers with respect to the anti conformer is estimated. Two diastereotopic protons in the CH2 group of N-methylethylamine have quite different chemical shifts especially at low temperatures (e.g. 48.5 vs. 19.4 ppm at -10℃). This may be attributed mainly to the different positions of the two protons in the most stable (gauche) conformer.
3-(2-benzotriazolovinyl)thiophene (BVT) was synthesized by the connection of the thiophene with the electron-withdrawing group, benzotriazole, through the vinylene. Its structure was confirmed by FT-IR, $^1H$-NMR, $^{13}C$-NMR and 2D hetero-cosy spectroscopy. Both BVT and 3-octylthiophene (OT) were copolymerized and showed an average molecular weight of 12000 (PDI 2.67) and 15000 (PDI 2.55), respectively. The copolymers were dissolved in the organic solvent such as chloroform, THF, TCE, etc. The mole ratios of BVT and OT in the synthesized copolymers were confirmed as 1 : 1.8 and 1 : 2.8 from $^1H$-NMR spectra. The UV-vis maximum absorption of copolymers appeared at the wavelength of 470 nm and 465 nm and the photoluminescence at ${\lambda}_{max}$ = 662 nm and 641 nm correspond to red-orange light. The band gaps of copolymers at 1.96 eV and 2.02 eV were found to be higher than those of poly(3-octylthiophene). The HOMO energy levels of the copolymers decreased overall in comparison with those of poly(3-octylthiophene), but the overall LUMO energy level increased.
$^1H$ NMR spectra of imidazole, 2-and 4(5)-methylimidazole, histamine, L-histidine, L-histidine methyl ester, N${\alpha}$-acetyl-L-histidine, and L-carnosine coordinated to the paramagnetic undecatungstocobalto(II)silicate ($SiW_{11}Co$) and undecatungstonickelo(II)silicate ($SiW_{11}Ni$) anions are reported. For these complexes the ligand exchange is slow on the NMR time scale and the pure resonance lines of the free ligand and the complexes have been observed separately at room temperature. Two different complexes are formed, depending upon which nitrogen atom of the imidazole ring is coordinated to the cobalt or nickel ion of $SiW_{11}M$. Thus the NMR spectrum of a $D_2O$ solution containing a ligand and $SiW_{11}M$ consists of three sets of lines originating from the free ligand and two complexes. All NMR lines of the $SiW_{11}Co$ complexes have been assigned unequivocally using the saturation transfer technique. The temperature dependence of some spectra are also reported. The NMR spectra of some complexes show that the internal rotation of the substituent on the imidazole ring is hampered by the heteropolyanion moiety even at room temperature.
The microscopic dynamics of $CsH_2PO_4$, with two distinct hydrogen bond lengths, are studied by static nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) and magic angle spinning (MAS) NMR. The proton dynamics of the two crystallographically inequivalent hydrogen sites were discussed in terms of the $^1H$ NMR and $^1H$ MAS NMR spectra. Although the hydrogen bonds have two inequivalent sites, H(1) and H(2), distinct proton dynamics for the two sites were not found. Further, the $^{133}Cs$ spectrum is more or less continuous near $T_{C1}$ (=153 K). Finally, the phase transition mechanism of $T_{C1}$ in $CsH_2PO_4$ is related to the ordering of protons.
