Patterns of Nitrogen Excretion in Growing Pigs

  • Three crossbred gilts weighing $61{\pm}2kg$ ($mean{\pm}SD$) and three gilts weighing $52{\pm}3kg $ on the day before the first treatment began (d -1) were used for each of two experiments (Exp. 1 and Exp. 2), respectively. In Exp. 1, all pigs were fed the experimental diet (CP 19%) from d -7 to the end of study (d 21) to verify that nitrogen retention is constant during the 21 -d period. In Exp. 2, pigs were fed the control diet (CP 15.5 %) from d -7 to d 8 and then the low-lysine diet from d 9 to d 16 in order to determine how rapidly dietary changes in amino acid composition results in a new equilibrium for nitrogen metabolism. The amount of urine nitrogen loss was not different over 21 days (p > 0.10). Rates of nitrogen retention were not different among pigs (p > 0.10) nor over time (p > 0.10). Average nitrogen retention during the period was 1.00 g/kg $BW^{0.75}$ per day. The apparent biological value was 41%, which did not change over the 3-week period (p > 0.10). The overall efficiency of nitrogen use for nitrogen retention was 35% (Exp. 1). The amount of nitrogen loss in urine and the efficiency of nitrogen utilization for nitrogen gain reached a new equilibrium within 2 to 3 d after the diet was changed. The low-lysine diet resulted in a 20% increase of nitrogen loss in urine (p < 0.001) and a 9% decline in efficiency of nitrogen use for nitrogen retention (p < 0.001). Nitrogen retention while the pigs were fed the control diet was also higher than the retention when pigs were fed the low lysine diet (p < 0.001). The efficiency of nitrogen use for nitrogen retention in pigs fed the control diet was 57% (Exp. 2), which was higher (p < 0.001) than that from pigs fed the low-lysine diets (52%).

3D 프린터를 이용한 회전 버킷이 부착된 저류조의 모형 실험 (Scaled Down Experiment of Retention Basin with a Rotatable Bucket Using 3D Printer)

  • Recently climate change and urbananization have been increased surface runoff, resulting in flooding. Retention basins have been constructed to control urban flooding by reducing peak flow rate. Recently, the retention basin plays a role in controlling combined sewer overflows (CSOs) as well as urban flooding. In this study, the retention basin with a rotatable bucket was suggested and scale down experiments was performed for the optimum design of the retention basin. Scaled down model was produced using a 3D printer after it was designed as law of similarity. Two times for operating a rotary bucket is required to sweep out the sediments deposited on the bottom of the basin. Optimized dimensions for the retention basin were width of 5 m, height of 5 m, bucket radius of 0.5 m, and bottom slope of 5.0 %. It can be concluded that the results obtained from this study can be used to design the retention basin with a rotatable bucket which does not require energy to operate.

강변저류지 홍수위 저감효과 분석을 위한 수치모형 적용 (Numerical Model Application for Analysis of Flood Level Mitigation due to Retention-Basin)

  • 강변저류지는 홍수량을 일시적으로 분담하여 홍수위험도를 저감시키는 시설로 국내에서도 대하천 정비사업을 통하여 여주, 나주, 영월 지역의 홍수 저감을 위하여 강변저류지가 새로이 설치되었다. 본 연구에서는 신규 도입된 강변저류지 중 여주 강변저류지를 대상으로 1차원 및 2차원 수치모의를 수행하여 대하천에서의 강변저류지에 의한 홍수위 저감효과를 분석하였다. 1차원 모의는 HEC-RAS 및 FLDWAV 모형의 저류지 기능을 적용하여 부정류 모의를 통한 홍수위 저감효과를 분석하였으며, 2차원 모의는 CCHE2D 모형을 이용하여 1차원 모형과 동일한 홍수 사상을 적용한 후 홍수위 저감효과를 분석하였다. 1차원 모의에서는 월류제 부근에서 첨두홍수위가 가장 크게 감소하였으며, 2차원 모의에서는 모의 구간의 가장 상류에서 홍수위 저감 효과가 가장 크게 나타났다. 또한 첨두홍수위는 1차원 모형에서 최대 0.13 m, 2차원 모형에서는 최대 0.20 m가 감소하는 것으로 나타났다. 검토 결과 2차원 모형이 하도 흐름에 대한 지형의 물리적 특성이 반영되어 보다 합리적인 모의 결과를 얻는 것이 가능한 것으로 보이며, 횡월류위어의 부근에서 하도 내 흐름 거동뿐만 아니라 월류 유량이 유입된 후 강변저류지 내 거동을 검토하기에는 1차원 모형보다 유리한 것으로 나타났다.

Surface morphology and deuterium retention in W and W-HfC alloy exposed to high flux D plasma irradiation

  • In this work, pure W and W-0.5wt%HfC alloy (WHC05) were fabricated by sintering and hot-rolling following the same processing route. After exposing to a high flux deuterium plasma irradiation with the D+ flux to three fluences of 6.00 × 1024, 2.70 × 1025 and 7.02 × 1025 D/m2, the evolution of surface morphology, deuterium retention and hardening behaviors in pure W and WHC05 has been studied. The SEM results show the formation of D blisters on the irradiated area, and with the increase of D implantation, the size of these blisters increases from 200 ~ 500 nm (2.70 × 1025 D/m2) to 1 ~ 2 ㎛ (7.02 × 1025 D/m2) in WHC05 and from 1 ~ 2 ㎛ (2.70 × 1025 D/m2) to > 3 ㎛ (7.02 × 1025 D/m2) in pure W, respectively. A higher D retention and obvious hardening are observed in pure W than that of the WHC05 alloy, indicating an improve radiation resistance in WHC05 compared to pure W.

Feeding Value of Ammoniated Rice Straw Supplemented with Rice Bran in Sheep : I. Effects on Digestibility, Nitrogen Retention and Microbial Protein Yield

  • In vivo digestibility, nitrogen retention and microbial protein yield from diets of 100% ammonia treated rice straw (ARS) ($D_1$); 65% untreated rice straw (URS)+30% rice bran (RB)+5% SBM ($D_2$) and 85% ARS+15% RB ($D_3$) were determined using three Japanese Corriedale wethers in a $3{\times}3$ Latin Square Design. Results showed that DM consumption and organic matter digestibility were highest in $D_3$; but did not promote high protein digestibility, which RB+SBM had effected in URS based-diet. Dry matter intake and OM digestibility were the same for $D_1$ and $D_3$. Solubility of fiber bonds was increased by ammoniation, resulting in higher NDF digestibility. Nitrogen retention and microbial protein yield of rice bran supplemented groups was higher than ARS, but supplementation did not significantly increase efficiency of microbial protein synthesis from ARS which did occur when RB+SBM was added to untreated straw. The quality of ammoniated rice straw could be improved through RB supplementation because of its positive effects on DM digestibility, nitrogen retention and microbial protein yield. However, the addition of RB+SBM to URS resulted to more efficient N utilization.

3D NAND Flash Memory의 Remnant Polarization(Pr)과 Saturated Polarization(Ps)에 따른 Retention 특성 분석 (The Analysis of Retention Characteristic according to Remnant Polarization(Pr) and Saturated Polarization(Ps) in 3D NAND Flash Memory)

  • 본 논문에서는 ferroelectric(HfO2)구조가 적용된 3D NAND flash memory의 parameter에 따른 lateral charge migration의 retention과 Vth를 분석하였다. Ps가 클수록 Program 시 ferroelectric에서 가능한 최대 polarization이 크기 때문에 초기 Vth는 Ps 25µC/cm2 보다 Ps 70µC/cm2에서 약 1.04V차이로 커진다. 또한 Program 이후 trap된 전자는 시간이 지남에 따라서 lateral charge migration이 발생한다. Program 이후 gate에 전압을 가하지 않고 ferroelectric은 polarization을 유지하기 때문에 Ps와 크게 관계없이 Pr이 클수록 polarization이 커지고 lateral charge migration에 의한 ∆Vth는 Pr 5µC/cm2 보다 Pr 50µC/cm2에서 약 1.54V차이로 작아진다.

Two- and three-dimensional experiments for oxide pool in in-vessel retention of core melts

  • To investigate the heat loads imposed on a reactor vessel through the natural convection of core melts in severe accidents, mass transfer experiments were performed based on the heat transfer/mass transfer analogy, using two- (2-D) and three-dimensional (3-D) facilities of various heights. The modified Rayleigh numbers ranged from $10^{12}$ to $10^{15}$, with a fixed Prandtl number of 2,014. The measured Nusselt numbers showed a trend similar to those of existing studies, but the absolute values showed discrepancies owing to the high Prandtl number of this system. The measured angle-dependent Nusselt numbers were analyzed for 2-D and 3-D geometries, and a multiplier was developed that enables the extrapolation of 2-D data into 3-D data. The definition of $Ra^{\prime}_H$ was specified for 2-D geometries, so that results could be extrapolated for 3-D geometries; also, heat transfer correlations were developed.

Influence of the Lysine to Protein Ratio in Practical Diets on the Efficiency of Nitrogen Use in Growing Pigs

  • Twelve gilts were used to investigate the effect of lysine to protein ratio (5.2 g lysine/100 g CP vs. 6.7 g lysine/100 g CP) in practical diets on nitrogen retention and the efficiency of utilization in growing pigs. Treatments involved 2 levels of dietary lysine (5.2 or 6.7 g/100 g CP) and 3 levels of dietary crude protein (11, 14 and 17% in diet). Nitrogen retention was greatest when pigs were fed the control diet containing 17% protein. Nitrogen retention progressively increased as dietary protein increased (p < 0.01), but it was not affected by lysine concentration (g/100 g CP). Apparent biological value (ABV, nitrogen retained/apparently digestible nitrogen) was estimated to be ~50% at the maximum nitrogen retention. ABV was not affected by lysine concentration, but declined (p < 0.05) as the dietary protein level increased. The efficiency of intake N used for maximum nitrogen retention was approximately 44%. One gram of lysine supported approximately 9 to 10 g apparent protein accretion (nitrogen retention ${\times}$ 6.25/lysine intake) in pigs fed control diets. The efficiency of lysine utilization for protein accretion was lower in pigs fed high-lysine diets (6.7 g lysine/l00 g CP) so that 1 g of lysine accounted for 7 to 8 g of protein accretion in these pigs (p < 0.01). The lysine required to support maximum nitrogen retention in pigs fed high-lysine diets was higher than that in pigs fed control diets, which suggests that lysine was over-fortified relative to crude protein, since practical diets can not be formulated without excess of some amino acids. In summary the concentration of 5.2 g total lysine/100 g CP in diet is more appropriate for corn-soybean diets than the commonly suggested the content of 6.7 g total lysine/100 g CP.

Effect of Supplementation of Bacillus subtilis LS 1-2 Grown on Citrus-juice Waste and Corn-soybean Meal Substrate on Growth Performance, Nutrient Retention, Caecal Microbiology and Small Intestinal Morphology of Broilers

  • A feeding trial was conducted to investigate the effect of dietary supplementation of Bacillus subtilis LS 1-2 grown on citrus-juice waste and corn-soybean substrate on growth performance, nutrient retention, caecal microbial population and intestinal morphology in broilers. Three hundred twenty d-old Ross chicks were randomly allotted to 4 treatments on the basis of BW in a randomized complete block design. Each treatment had 4 replicates of 20 chicks in each. Experimental diets were fed in 2 phases, starter (d 0 to 21) and finisher (d 21 to 35). Dietary treatments were; negative control (NC: basal diet without any antimicrobial), positive control (PC: basal diet added with 20 mg/kg Avilamycin), basal diet added with 0.30% Bacillus subtilis LS 1-2 grown on corn-soybean substrate (P1), and basal diet added with 0.30% Bacillus subtilis LS 1-2 grown on citrus-juice waste substrate (P2). Overall BW gain, feed intake and FCR were better (p<0.05) in PC, P1 and P2 treatments as compared to NC. Moreover, overall BW gain and FCR in PC and P2 treatments were greater than P1. Retention of CP, GE (d 21, d 35) and DM (d 35) were increased (p<0.05) in treatments PC, P1 and P2 compared with NC. At d 35, caecal Clostridium and Coliform counts were lower (p<0.05) in treatments PC, P1 and P2 than NC. Moreover, Clostridium and Coliform counts in treatment PC was lower (p<0.05) than P1. Villus height and villus height to crypt depth ratio in both duodenum and ileum were increased (p<0.05) in treatments PC, P1, P2 as compared to NC. However, retention of nutrients, caecal microbial population and intestinal morphology remained comparable among treatments P1 and P2. It is concluded that Bacillus subtilis LS 1-2 inclusion at 0.30% level had beneficial effects on broilers' growth performance, nutrient retention, caecal microflora and intestinal morphology. Additionally, citrus-juice waste can be used as substrate for growth of probiotic Bacillus subtilis LS 1-2.

Comparisons of 2-D and 3-D IVR experiments for oxide layer in the three-layer configuration

  • We performed 3-D (3-dimensional) IVR (In-Vessel Retention) natural convection experiments simulating the oxide layer in the three-layer configuration, varying the aspect ratio (H/R). Mass transfer experiment was conducted based on the analogy to achieve high RaH's of 1.99 × 1012-6.90 × 1013 with compact facilities. Comparisons with 2-D (2-dimensional) experiments revealed different local heat transfer characteristics on upper and lower boundaries of the oxide layer depending on the H/R. For the 3-D shallow oxide layer, the multi-cell flow patterns appeared and the number of cells was considerably increased with the H/R decreases, which differs with the 2-D experiments that the number of cells was independent on H/R. Thus, the enhancement of the downward heat transfer and the mitigation of the focusing effect were more noticeable in the 3-D experiments.
