Study on the Reaction Behavior of Self-reducing TiO2 Briquette (자기 환원성 TiO2 단광의 반응특성에 관한 연구)

  • The reduction behavior of $TiO_{2}$ in Al and Al/CaSi containing self-reducing $TiO_{2}$ briquettes(SRTB) was investigated. The maximum yield of Ti was expected with the slag composition of 45-55%CaO in the $CaO-Al_{2}O_{3}$ system. When $CaCO_{3}$ was used as a flux, the oxidation loss of reducing agent by $CO_{2}$ should be compensated, and therefore it leads to excessive requirement of the reducing agent. By using Al and CaSi mixture as a reducing agent of $TiO_{2}$, the reaction products both oxide and metal could be liquefied, and separated effectively with each other. As a result, the yield of Ti increases remarkably. The optimum mixing ratio of CaSi to Al is 78%CaSi-22%Al.

Microwave Dielectric Properties of CaO Added $(Ba, Pb)O-Nd_2O_3-TiO_2$ Ceramics (CaO첨가$(Ba, Pb)O-Nd_2O_3-TiO_2$ 세라믹스의 고주파 유전특성)

  • Effects of CaO on microwave dielectric properties of (Ba, Pb)O-Nd2O3-TiO2 ceramic ystem were investigated. As the content of CaO increases, the sintered bulk density decreases due to the decrease of sinterability. However, with increasing the sintering tmperature, the relative dielectric constants increases. This has been attributed on the formation of the 2nd phase inclusion, TiO2(rutile). The Q values increase due to the compensation effect of Ca ions up to 1 wt%, and then decrease due to the interfacial relaxation effects. The temperature coefficient of resonance frequency increases to a positive direction with increasing the amounts of CaO.

Effect of Sintering Additives and Annealing Atmospheres on the Microwave Dielectric and Sintering Characteristics of $(1-x)CaTiO_3-xLaAlO_3$ System (소결조제와 열처리 분위기가 $(1-x)CaTiO_3-xLaAlO_3$ 계의 소결 및 마이크로파 유전특성에 미치는 영향)

  • The effects of the annealing atmospheres(O2, N2) and sintering additives that Bi2O3 is a major composition on the microwave dielectric and sintering propertie of (1-x)CaTiO3-xLaAlO3 system were investigated. The annealing atmospheres and the increase of annealing time after sintering did not affect the relative dielectric constant($\varepsilon$r) and temperature coefficient of resonant frequency($\tau$f) of (1-x)CaTiO3-xLaAlO3 system. However, the Q.f0 values of (1-x)CaTiO3-xLaAlO3 were very sensitive to annealing atmospheres. As the annealing time increased under O2 atmosphere the Q.f0 values of (1-x)CaTiO3-xLaAlO3 enhanced untill 10 hrs in 0.3$\leq$x$\leq$0.6 region, but degraded over that time. The increasing rate of Q.f0 value increased wth increasing x. On the other hand, as the annealing time increased under N2 atmosphere the Q.f0 values were constant in x$\leq$0.6 region, increased gradually in x$\geq$0.7 region. When 0.97Bi2O3-0.03Al2O3 and 0.76Bi2O3-0.24NiO of 3wt% as sintering additives were added to (Ca0.5La0.5) (Ti0.5Al0.5)O3 (x=0.5) the sintering temperature of 1$600^{\circ}C$ was lowered to 140$0^{\circ}C$, and the relative dielectric constant($\varepsilon$r) and temperature coefficient of resonant frequency($\tau$f) were not nearly changed. The addition of 0.97Bi2O3-0.03Al2O3 and 0.76Bi2O3-0.24NiO of 3wt% to (Ca0.5La0.5)(Ti0.5Al0.5)O3 made the Q.f0 values to be lower about 15% and 34%, respectively.

Synthesis and Hardness of Glass Ceramics for Dental Crown Prosthetic Application in the system CaO-MgO-SiO2-P2O5-TiO2 (치관 보철용 CaO-MgO-$SiO_2-P_2O_5-TiO_2$계 글라스 세라믹의 합성과 경도)

  • Glass ceramics for dental crown prosthesis were prepared by crystallization of CaO-MgO-SiO2-$P_2O_5-TiO_2$ glasses. Their crystallization behaviors have been investigated as a function of heattreatment temperature, holding time and chemical composition in relation to mechinical properties. Crystallization peak temperatures were determined by differential thermal analysis(DTA). Crystalline phases and mircostructures of heat-treated sample were determined by the means of powder X-ray diffraction(XRD) and scanning electron microscopy(SEM). The final crystalline phase assemblages and the microstructures of the samples were found to be dependent on glass compositions, heattreatment temperature, and holding time. 1st crystallization peak temperature(TP), affected strongly by apatite, was found to be increased or decreased. From the experiment, the following results were obtained : 1. The crystallization peak temperature($T_P$) formed by apatite increased until adding up to 9wt% $TiO_2$ to base glass composition, then decreased above that. 2. Apatite($Ca_{10}P_6O_{25}$), whitlockite(${\beta}-3CaO-P_2O_5$), $\beta$-wollastonite($CaSiO_3$), magnesium tianate($MaTiO_3$) and diopside(CaO-MgO-$2SiO_2$) crystal phase were precipitated in MgO-CaO-$SiO_2-TiO_2-P_2O_5$ glass system containing 9wt% and 11wt% of $TiO_2$ 3. Vickers hardness of samples increased with increasing heat-treatment temperature and Vickers hardness of S415T9 samples heat-treated at 1075 was approxi-mately 813Kg $mm^{-2}$ as maximum value. 4. Vickers hardness of samples increased due to precipitation of apatite, whitlockite, $\beta$-wollastonite, magnesium titanate, and diopside crystal phases within glass matrix.

  • Lanthanides such as La, Gd and Ce have recognized as elements of high level radioactive wastes immobilized by forming solid solution with $CaTiO_3$. For easy forming solid solution between $CaTiO_3$and lanthanides, the combustion synthesis process was applied and the powder characteristics and sinterability were investigated. The proper selection of the type and the composition of fuels are important to get the crystalline solid solution of $CaTiO_3$and lanthanides. When glycine or the mixtures of urea and citric acid with stoichiometric composition was used as a fuel, the solid solution of $CaTiO_3$with $La_2O_3$or $Gd_2O_3$or $CeO_2$was produced very well by the combustion process. The combustion synthesized powder seemed to have a good sinterability with the linear shrinkage of more than 25% up to $1500^{\circ}C$, while that of the solid state reacted powder was less than 10% at the same condition.

  • The microwave dielectric properties and microstructure of the $0.7Mg_4Ta_2O_9-0.3CaTiO_3$ ceramics were investigated. All sample of the $0.7Mg_4Ta_2O_9-0.3CaTiO_3$ ceramics were prepared by conventional mixed oxide method. The sintering temperature was $1375^{\circ}C{\sim}1450^{\circ}C$. The structural properties of the $0.7Mg_4Ta_2O_9-0.3CaTiO_3$ ceramics were investigated by X-ray diffractormeter. According to the X-ray diffraction patterns of the $0.7Mg_4Ta_2O_9-0.3CaTiO_3$ ceramics, the major phase of the hexagonal $Mg_4Ta_2O_9$ were presented. In the case of the $0.7Mg_4Ta_2O_9-0.3CaTiO_3$ ceramics sintered at $1425^{\circ}C$, density, dielectric constant, quality factor were $5.799g/cm^2$, 23.26, 40,054 GHz, respectively.

  • Phsysical and dielectric properties of $(1-x)CaTiO_3-xLa(Zn_{1/2}Ti_{1/2})O_3$ ceramics were investigated at the temperature range of $25^{\circ}C$ to $80^{\circ}C$ at the frequency of 6 GHz. As increasing addition of the amount of $La(Zn_{1/2}Ti_{1/2})O_3$ to x = 5 mol,Q value was increased due to grain growth and increase of density. For more addition, Q value decreased due to electrical defect. Temperature coefficient of resonant frequency could be controlled by the amount of $La(Zn_{1/2}Ti_{1/2})O_3$, which could be explained by volume mixing rule.

  • We investigated dielectric relaxation properties of $0.95(Na_{0.5}K_{0.5})NbO_3-0.05BaTiO_3$ ceramics by addition (0~0.3 wt%) of $(Ba,Ca)SiO_3$ glass frit. All composition of $0.95(Na_{0.5}K_{0.5})NbO_3-0.05BaTiO_3$ added $(Ba,Ca)SiO_3$ glass frit showed the same crystallographic properties, coexistence of orthorhombic and tetragonal phase. By increasing addition of $(Ba,Ca)SiO_3$ glass frit, the Curie temperatures of $0.95(Na_{0.5}K_{0.5})NbO_3-0.05BaTiO_3$ ceramics were decreased, whereas maximum dielectric constants of $0.95(Na_{0.5}K_{0.5})NbO_3-0.05BaTiO_3$ ceramics were dramatically increased. Especially the deviations of Curie temperature $0.95(Na_{0.5}K_{0.5})NbO_3-0.05BaTiO_3$ ceramics were increased by increasing amount of $(Ba,Ca)SiO_3$ glass frit, and it indicated that $0.95(Na_{0.5}K_{0.5})NbO_3-0.05BaTiO_3$ ceramics added $(Ba,Ca)SiO_3$ glass frit have relaxor characteristics.

Functional LTCC Substrate with Near Zero Temperature Coefficient of the Resonant Frequency (Near Zero TCF 특성을 가지는 기능성 LTCC 기판)

  • 페로브스카이트 구조를 가지는 $CaZrO_3$ 유전체 세라믹스에 $CaTiO_3$를 부피 비율로 첨가하여 첨가량 변동에 따른 마이크로파 유전 특성을 조사하였다. 또한 저온 동시소성 기능성 LTCC 기판용 유전체 소재로서 활용하기 위하여 저융점의 borosilicate계 유리 프리트를 첨가하여 $CaZrO_3-CaTiO_3$ 복합 유전체 세라믹스의 저온 소결 거동과 마이크로파 유전 특성을 평가하였다. 알칼리가 첨가된 저융점의 borosilicate계 유리 프리트를 $10\sim30$ wt% 범위로 첨가함으로서 $CaZrO_3-CaTiO_3$ 복합 유전체 세라믹스의 소결온도를 $1450^{\circ}C$에서 $900^{\circ}C$이하로 낮출 수 있었으며, 유리 프리트의 첨가량으로 공진 주파수 온도계수 특성을 조절할 수 있었다. 유리 프리트의 첨가량이 15 wt% 첨가시 $875^{\circ}C$에서 충분한 소결이 이루어졌으며, 이 경우 $CaZrO_3-CaTiO_3$ 복합 유전체 세라믹스는 유전율(k) 23, 품질계수(Qxf) 2500, 공진 주파수 온도계수 ($\tau_{cf}$) -3 ppm/$^{\circ}C$의 매우 양호한 마이크로파 유전 특성을 나타내었다. 유리 프리트의 첨가에 의하여 소결 과정에서 주상인 $CaZrO_3$$CaZr_4O_9$ 상으로의 변화가 뚜렷이 나타났는데, 이러한 상전이 현상과 함께 미세구조의 변화에 대해서도 고찰하였다.

  • The possiblity of mullitization from the domestic alunite by adding of $Fe_2O_3-MnO_2$, $Fe_2O_3-MnO_2-TiO_2$, $Fe_2O_3-MnO_2-CaF_2$, and $Fe_2O_3-MnO_2-CaF_2-TiO_2$ mixtures as mineralizers was studied at the temperature range between $1, 250^{\circ}C$~$1, 430^{\circ}C$. The modifying method of domestic alunite was performed by calcination, wet ballmilling, and washing with water. The following results were obtained; 1) When added of 3.0% $Fe_2O_3$ plus 1.0-1.5% $MnO_2$ to modified alunite, the appropriate temperature range of mullite-forming was $1, 350^{\circ}C$-$1, 400^{\circ}C$. 2) When added of $TiO_2$ as mineralizer, the mullite-forming temperature was higher than not added. 3) When added of $CaF_2$ as mineralizer, the synthesized mullite was resolve at the temperature above $1, 350^{\circ}C$.
