Cryptococcus neoformans is a life-threatening pathogenic yeast that causes devastating meningoencephalitis. The mechanism of cryptococcal brain invasion is largely unknown, and recent studies suggest that its extracellular microvesicles may be involved in the invasion process. The 14-3-3 protein is abundant in the extracellular microvesicles of C. neoformans, and the 14-3-3-GFP fusion has been used as the microvesicle's marker. However, the physiological role of 14-3-3 has not been explored. In this report, we have found that C. neoformans contains a single 14-3-3 gene that apparently is an essential gene. To explore the functions of 14-3-3, we substituted the promoter region of the 14-3-3 with the copper-controllable promoter CTR4. The CTR4 regulatory strain showed an enlarged cell size, drastic changes in morphology, and a decrease in the thickness of the capsule under copper-enriched conditions. Furthermore, the mutant cells produced a lower amount of total proteins in their extracellular microvesicles and reduced adhesion to human brain microvascular endothelial cells in vitro. Proteomic analyses of the protein components under 14-3-3-overexpressed and -suppressed conditions revealed that the 14-3-3 function(s) might be associated with the microvesicle biogenesis. Our results support that 14-3-3 has diverse pertinent roles in both physiology and pathogenesis in C. neoformans. Its gene functions are closely relevant to the pathogenesis of this fungus.

25-Acetoxy-26,27,28-trimethoxycalix[4]arene was synthesized by the treatment of calix[4]arene trimethyl ether with acetyl chloride in the presence of NaH. The solution conformation was inferred as a partial cone conformation based on the $^1H$-and $^{13}C$ NMR spectra. The crystal structure has been determined by X-ray diffraction method. The crystals are monoclinic, space group $P2_1$/n, a=8.186 (1), b=17.137 (2), c=19.878 (3) ${\AA}$, ${\beta}$=95.67 (1)$^{\circ}$, Z=4, V=2774.90 ${\AA}^3$, $D_c$= 1.22 g $cm^{-3}$, $D_m$=1.23 g $cm^{-3}$. The intensity data were collected on an Enraf-Noninus CAD-4 Diffractometer with a graphite monochromated $Cu-K{\alpha}$ radiation. The structure was solved by direct method and refined by full-matrix least-squares methods to a final R value of 0.054 for 3675 observed reflections. The molecule possesses a partial cone conformation with one flattened phenyl unit, in which one anisol ring, distal to the ester ring, is inverted. The acetoxyphenyl ring is flattened.
Hyperbranched poly(ether sulfone) analogs with the 1,3,5-s-triazine moiety were prepared by the direct polymerization of AB$_2$type monomer, 2,4-bis(4-hydroxyphenyl)-6-(4-(4-(4-fluorobenzenesulfonyl)phenoxy)phenyl)-1,3,5-s-triazine (3). The selective reactivity of three chlorine atoms on cyanuric chloride toward nucleophiles provides an efficient route for the systematic synthesis of AB$_2$type triazine monomers and their hyperbranched polymers. The triazine rings influenced the structural and material characteristics of these hyperbranched polymers. The hyperbranched poly(ether sulfone) analog4 showed a glass transition at 295$^{\circ}C$. and was soluble in THF, 1,4-dioxane, and DMSO. An excellent thermal stability of polymer 4 was exhibited by a TGA analysis, which showed that 5% weight loss occurred at 480$^{\circ}C$.
A transformat Alcaligence eutrophus GA5 harboring phbC gene from A. latus was cultivated for production of Poly(3-hydroxybutyrate-4-hydroxybutyrate)[P(3HB-4HB)] containing high molar fraction of 4-hydroxybutyrate(4HB)] containing high molar fraction of 4-hydroxybutyrate(4HB). Transformation did not influenced significantly on total cell growth, on total cell growth, concentration, and content of P(3HB-4HB), however, significantly influenced on 4HB molar fraction in P(3HB-4HB) increasing from 12.3 to 23.5 mol% after 48 h cultivation in two-stage using 1.0%(W/V) of ${\gamma}$-butyrolactone as a precursor compare to parent strain. Above increment may be due to the accelerated polymerization between 3HB and 4HB converted from precusor compound by amplified phbC gene. Citrate increased remarkbly total cell mass and P(3HB-4HB) concentration, but did not influenced on the molar fraction of 4HB, meanwhile, magnesium ion influenced on P(3HB-4HB) concentration and 4HB molar fraction significantly. The two-stage cultivation method was modified, in such a way minimizing P(3HB) accumulated inside of cell grown at first-stage, consquently, 26.3% of P(3HB-4HB) containing 61.0 mol% of 4HB fraction was obtained after 72hr. Furthermore, semi-homopolymeric P(4HB) containing 92.0 mol% of 4Hb was obtained, and its structure was confirmed by $^1$H-NMR.

In this paper, a coupled-defected ground structure(C-DGS) using negative inductive coupling is proposed and a bandstop filter(BSF) using C-DGS is designed and fabricated. The proposed C-DGS is the closely-located DGS cells for the negative coupling, the negative coupling of ground currents between adjacent DGS cells greatly improves the stopband characteristics. The proposed BSF utilizing the sharp cutoff response of the C-DGS has a -10 dB rejection band from 4 GHz to 11.3 GHz. A maximum attenuation rate is -64.3 dB/GHz in 3 cell structure, -108 dB/GHz in 5 cell structure. The C-DGS BSF shows the improved attenuation rate 3.8 times in 3 cell structure, 2.4 times in 5 cell structure, Also, the C-DGS BSF is reduced to 35.2 % and 40 % of the DGS BSF, respectively, due to the closely-located DGS cells. We fabricated the single gate mixer using C-DGS BSF. The single gate mixer has 6.6 dB conversion gain.
The antibacterial activity of clove (Eugenia caryophyllata Thumb) in culture troth against S. aureus was tested at 35, 5, -20, 50, 55 and 60$^{\circ}C$. Tryptic soy broth(TSB) containing 0∼0.5%(w/v) of clove was inoculated with 105∼107 CFU/ml of S. aureus and incubated at each temperature. The growth of S. aureus occured at 0.1% clove after a prolonged lag period while viable cells of S. aureus decreased more than 2 log cycles at 0.3 and 0.4% clove during 12 hours storage at 35$^{\circ}C$. During 32 days of refrigerated storage at 5$^{\circ}C$, survivors of S. aureus were decreased with the progress of time and increasing clove concentration. At the presence of 0.2, 0.3 and 0.4% clove, bacterial cells were dead after 32, 20 and 16 days of refrigerated storage, respectively. During 32 days of frozen storage at -20$^{\circ}C$, survivors of S. aureus were decreased less than 0.5 log cycle at 0% clove. At the presence of 0.1∼0.4% clove, survivors were decreased 2.5∼3.0 log cycles after 1 day and then decreased 0.4∼0.8 log cycles through the frozen storage. There were small changes in populations of S. aureus in TSB between different concentrations of clove during frozen storage. The D-values of S. aureus at clove 0, 0,2, 0.4% were 28.53, 15.14, 8.9 min at 50$^{\circ}C$, 18.43, 10.32, 6.74 min at 55$^{\circ}C$ and 12.78, 9.88, 5.72 min at 60$^{\circ}C$, respectively. The D-values for S. aureus were decreased with the increasing temperature and clove concentration.
Recent studies have demonstrated that nitric oxide (NO) activates transient receptor potential vanilloid subtype 1 (TRPV1) via S-nitrosylation of the channel protein. NO also modulates various cellular functions via activation of the soluble guanylyl cyclase (sGC)/protein kinase G (PKG) pathway and the direct modification of proteins. Thus, in the present study, we investigated whether NO could indirectly modulate the activity of TRPV1 via a cGMP/PKG-dependent pathway in cultured rat dorsal root ganglion (DRG) neurons. NO donors, sodium nitroprusside (SNP) and S-nitro-N-acetylpenicillamine (SNAP), decreased capsaicin-evoked currents ($I_{cap}$). NO scavengers, hemoglobin and 2-(4-carboxyphenyl)-4,4,5,5-tetramethylimidazoline-1-oxyl-3-oxide (CPTIO), prevented the inhibitory effect of SNP on $I_{cap}$. Membrane-permeable cGMP analogs, 8-bromoguanosine 3', 5'-cyclic monophosphate (8bromo-cGMP) and 8-(4chlorophenylthio)-guanosine 3',5'-cyclic monophosphate (8-pCPT-cGMP), and the guanylyl cyclase stimulator YC-1 mimicked the effect of SNP on $I_{cap}$. The PKG inhibitor KT5823 prevented the inhibition of $I_{cap}$ by SNP. These results suggest that NO can downregulate the function of TRPV1 through activation of the cGMP/PKG pathway in peripheral sensory neurons.

As II-anhydrite reacts with C3A(aluminate), C4AF(ferrite) at initial hydration of cement and assists the hydrolysis of C3S(calcium silicate), the production rate of ettringite(3C3A.3CaSO4.32H2O) and C-S-H gel was acclerated. It was known that compressive strength of cement concrete improved due to the effect of II-anhydrite. For the checking these effects of II-anhydrite, the fluidity and compressive strength of cementmortar admixed with II-anhydrite and pozollanic fine powders were investigated. By means of SEM analysis, the surface structure of mortar with the condition of steam curing at curing days=28 was investigated. As a result of this experiment, it was examined that II-anhydrite had an increase on the fluidity of cementpaste and compressive strength of mortar.

To predict the future distribution of forest vegetation, the present forest stand distributions of South Korea were represented by multinomial logit model with the following environmental variables: summer average precipitation, the coldest month average temperature, elevation, degree of base saturation, and soil organic matter. The future forest community was predicted by applying the MIROC3.2 hires A1B scenario. The future climate data were downscaled by statistically method. The coldest month average temperature increased $4.4^{\circ}C$, $6.0^{\circ}C$, and $9.4^{\circ}C$, and 3 months average precipitation changed -1.2%, 5.7%, and 5.3% for 2020s, 2050s, and 2080s respectively. For the projected summer precipitation and the coldest temperature, the future deciduous and mixed forests in the study area increased 56.9% and 8.3% and the coniferous forest decreased 11.2% in 2080s based on present.

In this paper, we real-time implemented to the TMS320C5416 the vocoder of variable bit rate applied the SOLA-B algorithm by Henja to the ITU-T G.729A vocoder of 8kbps transmission rate. This proposed method using the SOLA-B algorithm is that it is reduced the duration of the speech in encoding and is played at the speed of normal by extending the duration of the speech in decoding. At this time, we bandied that the interval of cross correlation function if skipped every 3 sample for decreasing the computational amount of SOLA-B algorithm. The real-time implemented vocoder of C.729A and SOLA-B algorithm is represented the complexity of maximum that is 10.2MIPS in encoder and 2.8MIPS in decoder of 8kbps transmission rate. Also, it is represented the complexity of maximum that is 18.5MIPS in encoder and 13.1MIPS in decoder of 6kbps, it is 18.5MIPS in encoder and 13.1MIPS in decoder of 4kbps. The used memory is about program ROM 9.7kwords, table ROM 4.5kwords, RAM 5.1 kwords. The waveform of output is showed by the result of C simulator and Bit Exact. Also, for evaluation of speech quality of the vocoder of real-time implemented variable bit rate, it is estimated the MOS score of 3.69 in 4kbps.
