갯벌의 무척추 동물 서식굴 내 메탄산화 평가 (Assessment of CH4 oxidation in macroinvertebrate burrows of tidal flats)

  • 식생이 없는 갯벌에서 메탄($CH_4$) 플럭스는 배출과 흡수 양상을 보인다. 특히 메탄영양세균 개체군은 메탄 흡수에 상당한 영향을 준다. 본 예비연구는 거대 무척추 동물의 서식활동(bioturbation) 영향을 이해하기 위해 원형 밀폐 챔버 방법을 사용하여 갯벌에서 메탄 플럭스를 조사하였다. 챔버는 십각목(decapoda)의 mud shrimp(Laomedia astacina)와 crab(Macrophthalmus japonicas) 서식굴에 약 2시간 동안 배치되었고, 메탄과 이산화탄소($CO_2$) 농도는 밀폐된 $CH_4/CO_2$ 확산 플럭스 관측 장비를 사용하여 지속적으로 모니터링 되었다. 서식굴 길이가 긴 Laomedia astacina 위치에서는 깊은 퇴적층의 메탄 방출 때문에 상대적인 높은 수준의 메탄 발생을 일으킨 것으로 나타났다. 또한, 서식굴 퇴적물에서 발견되는 메탄영양세균 개체군은 메탄 산화(oxidation) 잠재력을 나타냈다. 특히 서식굴 내 아질산염 관련 혐기성 산화(anaerobic oxidation of methane, AOM)가 확인되었다. 이러한 메탄 산화 발생은 챔버 실험 동안 이산화탄소의 탄소 안정동위원소비(${\delta}^{13}C$) 감소로 뒷받침되었다. 따라서 갯벌에서 무척추 동물의 서식활동은 대기 중 메탄 농도를 제어할 수 있는 중요한 생태계 환경으로 보인다.

Exploring indicators of genetic selection using the sniffer method to reduce methane emissions from Holstein cows

  • Objective: This study aimed to evaluate whether the methane (CH4) to carbon dioxide (CO2) ratio (CH4/CO2) and methane-related traits obtained by the sniffer method can be used as indicators for genetic selection of Holstein cows with lower CH4 emissions. Methods: The sniffer method was used to simultaneously measure the concentrations of CH4 and CO2 during milking in each milking box of the automatic milking system to obtain CH4/CO2. Methane-related traits, which included CH4 emissions, CH4 per energy-corrected milk, methane conversion factor (MCF), and residual CH4, were calculated. First, we investigated the impact of the model with and without body weight (BW) on the lactation stage and parity for predicting methane-related traits using a first on-farm dataset (Farm 1; 400 records for 74 Holstein cows). Second, we estimated the genetic parameters for CH4/CO2 and methane-related traits using a second on-farm dataset (Farm 2; 520 records for 182 Holstein cows). Third, we compared the repeatability and environmental effects on these traits in both farm datasets. Results: The data from Farm 1 revealed that MCF can be reliably evaluated during the lactation stage and parity, even when BW is excluded from the model. Farm 2 data revealed low heritability and moderate repeatability for CH4/CO2 (0.12 and 0.46, respectively) and MCF (0.13 and 0.38, respectively). In addition, the estimated genetic correlation of milk yield with CH4/CO2 was low (0.07) and that with MCF was moderate (-0.53). The on-farm data indicated that CH4/CO2 and MCF could be evaluated consistently during the lactation stage and parity with moderate repeatability on both farms. Conclusion: This study demonstrated the on-farm applicability of the sniffer method for selecting cows with low CH4 emissions.

수소 반응분위기에서 Chloroethylene 열분해 반응경로 특성 (Pyrolytic Reaction Pathway of Chloroethylene in Hydrogen Reaction Atmosphere)

  • 염화탄화수소의 고온열분해 반응에서 생성물 반응경로 특성을 파악하기 위해 $H_2$ 반응분위기에서 1,1-dichloroethylene($CH_2CCl_2$) 열분해반응 실험을 수행하였다. 열분해반응 실험은 등온관형반응기를 이용하여 반응온도 $650{\sim}900^{\circ}C$, 반응시간 0.3~2.0초에서 진행하였으며, 반응물 mole 분율은 전체 실험에서 $CH_2CCl_2:H_2$ = 4:96 일정하게 유지하였다. 반응물 $CH_2CCl_2$가 완전분해온도는(분해율 99% 이상) $825^{\circ}C$(반응시간 1초 기준)였으며, $H_2$ 반응분위기에서 $CH_2CCl_2$ 주요 분해반응경로는 H원자 추출 및 첨가교체치환 연쇄반응으로 파악되었다. $CH_2CCl_2$가 46% 분해되는 $700^{\circ}C$에서 1차 생성물로 $CH_2CHCl$가 28%로 가장 높은 농도로 검출되었다. $775^{\circ}C$ 이상에서는 탈염소화된 $C_2H_4$가 2차 생성물로 가장 많이 생성되었으며, 반응온도가 증가할수록 염소 원자수가 작은 화합물이 생성되었으며 이들 화합물은 열화학적으로 안정된 물질이다. $825^{\circ}C$ 이상의 고온반응영역에서 탈염소반응의 부산물인 HCl과 $C_2H_4$, $C_2H_6$, $CH_4$ $C_2H_2$ 등과 같은 열화학적으로 안정된 탄화수소가 주요생성물로 검출되었다. 본 연구에서 고찰된 반응계에서 분해와 생성물분포 특성을 고려하고 열화학이론 및 반응속도론을 기초로 주요 반응경로를 제시하였다.

CNG 버스의 CH4 저감용 NGOC의 de-CH4 특성 (The De-CH4 Characteristics of NGOC for CH4 Reduction of a CNG Bus)

  • Recently, in order to meet the stricter emission regulations, the proportion of after-treatments for vehicle and vessel is increasing gradually. The purpose of this study is to investigate the de-$CH_4$ characteristics of NGOC in front of proposed combined system according to additive catalyst and support ratio. In the case of Pd addition, the de-$CH_4$ performance of 2Pt-2Pd-3MgO/$Al_2O_3$ NGOC was improved by approximately 10 to 20% for the HC components. The de-$CH_4$ performance of 2Pt-2Pd-3Cr-3MgO/$Al_2O_3$ NGOC was higher compared to five kinds of NGOC catalysts, because Cr particle was smaller and dispersion of Pd was increased. The NGOC(Zeolite:$Al_2O_3$(80%:20%)}catalyst according to support ratio, was improved performance at low temperature region on CO and NO conversion rate.

증기압에 미치는 동위원소 효과 (Isotope Effects on Vapor Pressure)

  • 순수한 액체의 증가압에 미치는 동위원소 효과를 연구하였고, 증기압 비를 계산하였다. Significant Structure Theory of Liquid를 사용한 계산결과에 의하면, $C_2H_4/C_2H_2D_2$(trans)계 에서는 분자량과 관성능률에 의한 효과가 현저하고, $C_2H_2D_2(trans)/C_2H_2D_2(cis)$계에서는 분자 회전이 자유롭지 못한 데서 오는 영점에너지 효과가 현저했다. 그리고, $CH_3OH/CH_3OD$계에서는 분자간 인력이 동위원소에 따라 다르기 때문임이 밝혀졌다. $CH_4/CD_4,\;SiH_4/SiD_4,\;GeH_4/GeD_4$ 동위원소계에서는 분자량에 의한 효과가 $CH_4/CD_4 >SiH_4/SiD_4 >GeH_4/GeD_4$의 순서로 감소함을 알 수 있었다.

경상남도 가좌산의 소나무, 참나무, 밤나무 우점 산림토양 별 메탄 산화능 평가 (Evaluation of Methane Oxidation Potentials of Alpine Soils Having Different Forestation Structure in Gajwa mountain)

  • BACKGROUND: Forest soils contain microbes capable of consuming atmospheric methane ($CH_4$), an amount matching the annual increase in $CH_4$ concentration in the atmosphere. However, the effect of plant residue production by different forest structure on $CH_4$ oxidation is not studied in Korea. The objective of this study was to evaluate the effect of Korean alpine soils having different forestation structure on $CH_4$ uptake rates. METHODS AND RESULTS: the $CH_4$ flux was measured at three sites dominated with pine, chestnut and oak trees in southern Korea. The $CH_4$ uptake potentials were evaluated by a closed chamber method for a year. The $CH_4$ uptake rate was the highest in the pine tree soil ($1.05mg/m^2/day$) and then followed by oak ($0.930mg/m^2/day$) and chestnut trees ($0.497mg/m^2/day$). The $CH_4$ uptake rates were highly correlated to soil organic matter and moisture contents, and total microbial and methanotrophs activities. Different with the general concent, there was no any correlation between $CH_4$ oxidation rates, and soil temperature and labile carbon concentrations, irrespective with tree species. CONCLUSION: Conclusively, the methane oxidation rate was correlated in positive manner with organic matter, abundance of methanotrophs. Methane oxidation was different among tree species. This results could be used to estimate methane oxidation rate in forest of Korea after complementing information about statistical data and methane oxidation of other site.

지환족 다이안하이드라이드를 이용한 용해성 폴리이미드 공중합체 합성 및 메탄/이산화탄소 분리특성 (Synthesis of Soluble Copolyimides Using an Alicyclic Dianhydride and Their $CO_2/CH_4$ Separation Properties)

  • 지환족 다이안하이드라이드인 5-(2,5-dioxotetrahydrofuryl)-3-methyl-3-cyclohexene-1,2-dicarboxylic anhydride (DOCDA)와 4,4'-diaminodiphenyl ether (ODA)에서 합성된 폴리이미드는 유기용매에 잘 용해되는 폴리이미드로 알려져 있다. 이러한 DOCDA-ODA 폴리이미드의 기체 투과특성을 평가하고 투과선택도를 개선시키기 위해서 DOCDA-ODA 반응물에 세 가지 dianhydride 단량체((4,4'-(hexafluoroisoproplidene)diphthalic anhydride (6FDA), 4,4'-biphthalic anhydride (BPDA), 3,3', 4,4'-benzophenone tetracarboxylic dianhydride (BTDA))를 각각 20 mol% 첨가하여 순수중합체 및 공중합체를 합성하였다. 폴리이미드 합성이 성공적으로 이루어졌음을 FT-IR을 통해 확인하였고, 그들의 열적특성은 DSC를 통해 알아보았다. 제조된 폴리이미드들의 $CO_2/CH_4$에 대한 기체투과도와 선택도는 time-lag법을 이용하여 측정하였다. 그 결과 순수고분자인 DOCDA-ODA의 경우 $CO_2$ 투과도는 1.71 barrer, $CO_2/CH_4$ 선택도는 74.35의 우수한 투과특성을 보였다. 세 가지 공중합체의 경우 DOCDA-ODA에 비해 $CO_2$ 투과도는 높게 나타난 반면에 $CO_2/CH_4$ 선택도는 감소하였다. 특히, 6FDA를 첨가한 경우 $CO_2/CH_4$ 선택도는 DOCDA-ODA보다 다소 낮은 결과를 나타내었지만 $CO_2$ 투과도가 크게 증가하였음을 확인할 수 있었다.

PM4Ch 표면을 이용한 광배향 TN-LCD의 전기광학특성 (Electro-optical (EO) characteristics of photo-aligned TN-LCD on PM4Ch surfaces)

  • We synthesised a photo-alignment material of PM4Ch (poly(4-methacryloylloxychalcone)). The electro-optical (EO) characteristics of photo-aligned twisted nematic (TN)-liquid crystal display (LCD) with linearly polarized ultraviolet (UV) light irradiation on PM4Ch surface were investigated. The uniform alignment of NLC with polarized UV light irradiation on PM4Ch surface was measured. Also, We had The excellent voltage-transmittance characteristics of photo-aligned TN-LCD. The low threshold voltage of photo-aligned TN-LCD was measured. Moreover, the fast response time of photo-aligned TN-LCD on PM4Ch was successfully achieved. Finally The reduction DC voltage of photo-aligned TN-LCD decreases with increasing the UV light irradiation time on photo-dimerized PM4Ch surface.

  • Carbon dioxide ($CO_2$) and methane (CH$_4$) are two major greenhouse Bases. $CO_2$is a stack gas of many industrial processes and the main product of the hydrocarbon combustion. There is recent research interest on the synthesis gas (syngas) formation from $CO_2$ and CH$_4$, via the following reaction: CH$_4$+$CO_2$longrightarrow 2H$_2$+$CO_2$, in order to reduce the greenhouse effects and to synthesize various chemicals, Preliminary experiments were conducted on the conversion of $CO_2$ and CH$_4$ to syngas by making use of a microwave plasma torch at atmospheric pressure. Conversion rates of $CO_2$and CH$_4$ to hydrogen (H$_2$), carbon monoxide (CO) and higher hydrocarbons were investigated using Gas Chromatography (GC) and Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR). The experimental data indicate that the main products were H$_2$, CO and small amount of higher hydrocarbons, such as ethylene (C$_2$H$_4$).

한국의 태안반도에서 관측된 $CH_4$의 지역적 배경농도에 관한 연구 -1990~1992년 자료를 중심으로- (On the Regional Background Levels of $CH_4$ Observed Peninsula in Korea during 1990~1992)

  • Since November 1990, the observations of methane (CH4) level have been carried out at Tae-ahn Peninsula (TAP) in Korea. Analysis on atmospheric data obtained in the period from November 1990 to August 1992 is carried out and the results are included in this study. We 임ole that CIL does not have a clear seasonal cycle with a minor maximum in August- september and with a minimum in June-July. The variations in monthly average level are much larger with 1765.01∼ 1857.21 pub (amplitude 92.20 ppb). The occurrence of a minimum in June-July is due to the inflow of the North Pacific air, an increase of OH radical and due to a decrease in CH4 emission from rice paddy. A maximum in August and September appears to result from an increase in organic materials in agriculture (rice paddy) and forests, inputs of local sources due to weak airflows, stagnation of the warm and moist air and from a decrease in OH radical.'rho present analysis indicates that according to CH4 data from Mongolia and from several sites in North Pacific TAP is influenced as much as 31 pub in average from the inputs of Chinese omission. When the atmospheric CH4 of TAP is compared with data observed at Korea National University of Education (KNU), the values of KNU are higher (127 ppb) than those of TAP. It is clear that air samples taken at KNU are influenced strongly by local sources in central Korea than those at TAP. According to analysis of trajectories and airflows, we find that there are 4 types in classification. Firstly, when an air flow is originated mainly in China values of CH4 gas are in medium ranges. Secondly, when an airflow is from both local (Korea) and China we find higher values. Thirdly, with an airflow from both local (Korea) and Japan origins medium values are recorded. Fourths)r, when an airflow of maritime origin arrives low values of atmospheric CH4 are observed at TAP.
