Chemical Reactivity of Ti+ within Water, Dimethyl Ether, and Methanol Clusters

  • The intracluster ion-molecule reactions of $Ti^+(H_2O)_n,\;Ti^+(CH_3OCH_3)_n,\;and\;Ti^+(CH_3OD)_n$ complexes produced by the mixing of the laser-vaporized plasma and the pulsed supersonic beam were studied using a reflectron time-of-flight mass spectrometer. The reactions of $Ti^+$ with water clusters were dominated by the dehydrogenation reaction, which produces $TiO^+(H_2O)_n$ clusters. The mass spectra resulting from the reactions of $Ti^+\;with\;CH_3OCH_3$ clusters exhibit a major sequence of $Ti^+(OCH_3)_m(CH_3OCH_3)_n$ cluster ions, which is attributed to the insertion of $Ti^+$ ion into C-O bond of $CH_3OCH_3$ followed by $CH_3$ elimination. The prevalence of $Ti^+(OCH_3)_m(CH_3OD)_n$ ions in the reaction of $Ti^+\;with\;CH_3OD$ clusters suggests that D elimination via O-D bond insertion is the preferred decomposition pathway. In addition, the results indicate that consecutive insertion reactions by the $Ti^+$ ion occur for up to three precursor molecules. Thus, examination of $Ti^+$ insertion into three different molecules establishes the reactivity order: O-H > C-O > C-H. The experiments additionally show that the chemical reactivity of heterocluster ions is greatly influenced by cluster size and argon stagnation pressure. The reaction energetics and formation mechanisms of the observed heterocluster ions are also discussed.

  • $trans-PdEt_2(PMe_3)_2$와 styrene을 반응시켜 얻어진 $Pd(PMe_3)_2$(styrene)에 methacrylic acid와 trans-crotonic acid를 각각 반응시켜 새로운 팔라듐(O)-올레핀착물로서 $(PMe_3)_2Pd{CH_2=C(CH_3)COOH}$(PMe_3)_2Pd{(CH_3)CH=CHCOOH}$를 합성하고, 구조와 특성을 원소분석, IR 및 $^1H-,\;^{13}C-,\;^{31}P-NMR$ 등의 분광학적 방법으로 조사하였다. methacrylic acid 와 trans-crotonic acid에 존재하는 올레핀의 이중결합은 팔라듐(O)에 ${\pi}$-결합을 형성하였고, 카르복실산은 팔라듐에 결합되지 않았음을 알게되었다. 그리고 동일한 반응에서 metallacycle을 형성하는 3-butenoic acid와 비교 검토하였다.

  • Cholesteryl p-[3-(2-chloroethyl_-3-nitrosoureido] phenylthioaccetate (2) was synthesized : an intermediate, p-[3(2-chloroethyl_-3-nitrosoureido] phenylthioacetic acid (1) is a congener of an antitumor chlorambucil which both the -CH$_{2}$CH$_{2}$-linkage and -N(CH$_{2}$CH$_{2}$Cl)$_{2}$ group of chlorambucil molecule is doubly modified into the respective -S-linkage and -NH-CO-NNO-CH$_{2}$CH$_{2}$CL group. The attackment of cholesterol moiety as a carrier group to p-[3-(2-chloroethyl-3nitrosoureido] phenylthioacetic acid was accomplished through the esterification of cholesterol with p-[3-(2-chloroethyl-3-nitrosoureido] phenylthioacetyl chloride which was obtained from the treatment of p-[3-(2-chloroethyl)-3-nitrosourei-do] phenylthioaceticacid with SOCL$_{2}$, p-[3-(2-chloroethyl)ureido]]-phenythioacetic acid was nitrosated with NaNO$_{2}$ IN 98-100% HCOOH to give exclusively p-[3-(2-chloroethyl_-3-nitrosoureido] phenylthioacetic acid. Antitumor evaluation of compounds, 1 and 2 on L 1210 leukemia did show significant activity (ED$_{40}$ : 1.14.mu./ml and 8.4.mu.g/ml, repectively). Further studies were subjected..

Characterization of physiochemical and nutrient profiles in canola feedstocks and co-products from bio-oil processing: impacted by source origin

  • Objective: The objective of this study was to characterize physiochemical and nutrient profiles of feedstock and co-products from canola bio-oil processing that were impacted by source origin. The feedstocks and co-products (mash, pellet) were randomly collected from five different bio-oil processing plants with five different batches of samples in each bio-processing plant in Canada (CA) and China (CH). Methods: The detailed chemical composition, energy profile, total digestible nutrient (TDN), protein and carbohydrate subfractions, and their degradation and digestion (CNCPS6.5) were determined. Results: The results showed that TDN1x was similar in meals between CA and CH. CH meals and feedstock had higher, truly digestible crude protein (tdCP) and neutral detergent fiber (tdNDF) than CA while CA had higher truly digestible non-fiber carbohydrate (tdNFC). The metabolizable energy (ME3x), net energy (NELp3x, NEm3x, and NEg3x) were similar in meals between CA and CH. No differences were observed in energy profile of seeds between CA and CH. The protein and carbohydrate subfractions of seeds within CH were similar. The results also showed that pelleting of meals affected protein sub-fractionation of CA meals, except rapidly degradable fractions (PB1), rumen degradable (RDPB1) and undegrdable PB1 (RUPB1), and intestinal digestible PB1 (DIGPB1). Canola meals were different in the soluble (PA2) and slowly degradable fractions (PB2) between CA and CH. The carbohydrate fractions of intermediately degradable fraction (CB2), slowly degradable fraction (CB3), and undegradable fraction (CC) were different among CH meals. CH presented higher soluble carbohydrate (CA4) and lower CB2, and CC than CA meals. Conclusion: The results indicated that although the seeds were similar within and between CA and CH, either oil-extraction process or meal pelleting seemed to have generated significantly different aspects in physiochemical and nutrient profiles in the meals. Nutritionists and producers need to regularly check nutritional value of meal mash and pellets for precision feeding.

  • 산화성 첨가반응을 이용하여 실라트란(분자내 Si-N고리횡단 상호작용을 갖는 5-배위의 규소화합물)의 규소원자와 주족원소간에 Si-M 결합작용이 있는 새로운 이종다핵 화합물을 합성하려고 시도하였다. 1-브로모실라트란(1a)과 $SnBr_2를 반응시켜 노란색(2a)과 흰색(2b)의 고체 혼합물을 얻었고 용해도 차에 의해 각각을 분리하여 ^1H-NMR, ^{29}Si-NMR, ^{119}Sn-NMR, Mass스펙트럼으로 규명한 결과 노란색 화합물만이 Si-Sn결합을 갖는 것으로 판명되었다. SnBr_2를 1-브로모-3,7,10-트리메틸실라트란(1b)과도 반응시켜 Si-Sn 결합을 갖는 화합물, N[CH_2CH(CH_3)O]_3SiSnBr_3(CH_3OH)_2(3)$을 분리하여 여러가지 방법으로 확인하였다.

Incidence of congenital hypothyroidism by gestational age: a retrospective observational study

  • Background: Congenital hypothyroidism (CH) is the leading cause of preventable physical and intellectual disabilities. This study aimed to assess the incidence and clinical characteristics of CH in newborns. Methods: We retrospectively reviewed the medical records of all newborns delivered at the Pusan National University Hospital between January 2011 and March 2021. The incidence of CH was compared according to gestational age, birth weight, and small for gestational age (SGA). The patients aged ≥3 years who could not maintain normal thyroid function and required levothyroxine treatment were diagnosed with permanent CH. Logistic regression analysis was performed to compare CH risks. Results: Of 3,722 newborns, 40 were diagnosed with CH (1.07%). Gestational age and birth weight were significantly associated with CH incidence. The odds ratios (ORs) of CH in infants delivered at 32-37, 28-31, and <28 weeks were 2.568 (95% confidence interval [CI], 1.141-5.778), 5.917 (95% CI, 2.264-15.464), and 7.441 (95% CI, 2.617-21.159) times higher, respectively, than those delivered at term. The ORs of CH in infants weighing 1,500-2,499 g, 1,000-1,499 g, and <1,000 g were 4.664 (95% CI, 1.928-11.279), 11.076 (95% CI, 4.089-29.999), and 12.544 (95% CI, 4.350-36.176) times greater, respectively, than those in infants weighing ≥2,500 g. The OR of CH was 6.795 (95% CI, 3.553-13.692) times greater in SGA than in non-SGA infants. Conclusion: The CH incidence in South Korea has increased significantly compared with that in the past. Gestational age, birth weight, and SGA were significantly associated with CH incidence.

  • 양쪽성 계면활성제인 dodecyldimethyl(3-sulfopropyl)ammonium hydroxide(LSB, $CH_3(CH_2)_{11}N^+(CH_3)_2(CH_2)_3SO{_3}^-$)와 LSB/Tween-20, LSB/Tween-40, LSB/Tween-80 및 LSB/DTAB, LSB/TTAB, LSB/CTAB 혼합계면활성제의 임계미셀농도(CMC)값을 284 K에서 312 K의 온도범위에서 UV/Vis 분광광도법으로 측정하였다. 열역학적 연구를 위해 온도의 변화가 미셀화에 어떤 영향을 미치는지를 분석하였다. 계산한 결과 측정범위 내에서 미셀화에 따른 깁스 자유에너지값은 측정범위 내에서 모두 음의 값을 나타내었다. 한편 엔탈피값은 Tween-20에서는 양의 값을 그리고 다른 계면활성제에서는 음의 값을 나타내었다. 엔트로피값은 측정한 온도범위 내에서 모두 양의 값을 나타내었다. 또한 모든 열역학 함수값들은 온도와 알킬-그룹의 길이에 따라 큰 변화를 보였다.

PTMSP/LDH 복합막의 탄화수소 기체투과 특성 (Hydrocarbon Gas Permeation Characteristics of PTMSP/LDH Composite Membranes)

  • PTMSP[Poly(1-trimethylsilyl-1-propyne)]에 LDH (layered double hydroxide)의 함량을 0, 1, 3, 5 wt%로 달리하여 PTMSP/LDH 복합막을 제조하고, PTMSP/LDH 복합막의 LDH 함량에 따른 $H_2$, $N_2$, $CH_4$, $C_3H_8$, $n-C_4H_{10}$의 기체투과도와 선택도를 조사하였다. PTMSP/LDH 복합막의 LDH 함량이 0~5 wt%로 증가하면 $H_2$$N_2$의 투과도는 점차 감소하였고, $n-C_4H_{10}$의 투과도는 급격히 증가하였다. 그리고 $CH_4$$C_3H_8$의 투과도는 0~3 wt% 범위에서는 감소하고 3~5 wt% 범위에서는 증가하였다. PTMSP/LDH 복합막의 LDH 함량이 5 wt%로 증가하면 $H_2$$N_2$에 대한 $H_2$, $N_2$, $CH_4$, $C_3H_8$, $n-C_4H_{10}$의 선택도는 점차 증가하였고, $CH_4$에 대한 $C_3H_8$$n-C_4H_{10}$의 선택도는 0~3 wt% 범위에서는 증가하고, 3~5 wt% 범위에서는 감소하였다. PTMSP/LDH 복합막의 $CH_4$$n-C_4H_{10}$의 투과도가 증가하면 $H_2$$N_2$에 대한 $CH_4$$n-C_4H_{10}$의 선택도는 증가하였고, $n-C_4H_{10}$의 투과도가 증가하면 $CH_4$에 대한 $n-C_4H_{10}$의 선택도는 $n-C_4H_{10}$의 투과도 182,000 barrer까지는 증가하다가 그 이상에서는 감소하였다. $C_3H_8$의 투과도가 증가하면 $H_2$$N_2$에 대한 $C_3H_8$의 선택도는 $C_3H_8$의 투과도 46,000~50,000 barrer 범위에서는 감소하고 50,000~52,300 barrer 범위에서 증가하였고 52,300~60,000 barrer 범위에서는 감소하였다. 그리고 $C_3H_8$의 투과도가 증가하면 $CH_4$에 대한 $C_3H_8$의 선택도는 52,300 barrer까지는 급격히 감소하였고, 그 이상에서는 급격히 증가하였다.

  • The reaction between CH3 radicals and H2 was investigated behind incident shock waves at temperatures between 1308 and 1825 K by following the consumption of CH3 using a time resolved UV absorption method at 213.9 nm. The rate coefficient expression 1.10 X 1013 exp(-7370 K/T) cm3mol-1s-1 for the reaction of CH3 with H2 was derived.
