  • The boundary estimation problem is used to estimate the shape of organic depend on the phase of the cardiac cycle or interested in the detection of the location and size of anomalies with resistivity values different from the background tissues such as nuclear reactor. And we can use the method to solve the optimal solution such as modified Newton raphson, kalman filter, extended kalman filter, etc. But, this method consumes much time and is sensitive to the initial value and noise in the estimation of the unknown shape. In the paper, we propose that multi-layer neural networks estimate the boundary of the unknown object using Fourier coefficient. This method can be used at the real time estimation and have strong characteristics at the noise and initial value. It uses voltage change; difference the homogeneous voltage to the non-homogeneous voltage, and change of Fourier coefficient change to train multi-layer neural network. After train, we can have real time estimation using this method.

  • In this paper, we propose a fast multiple reference frame selection method for motion estimation and compensation in video coding. Reference frames selected as an optimal reference frame by variable block sizes motion estimation have the statistical characteristic that was based on block size. Using the statistical characteristic, reference frames for smaller block size motion estimation can be selected from reference frame which was decided as an optimal one for the upper layer block size. Simulation results show that the proposal method decreased the computations about 60%. Nevertheless, PSNR and bit rate were almost same as the performances of original H.264 multiple reference motion estimation.

  • In this study, an ultra-wideband(UWB) signal model is considered to estimate the angle-of-arrivals(AOAs) of clusters in an UWB indoor-to-outdoor communication environment having random angle spreads. A conventional AOA algorithm for UWB estimates the directions of both clusters and multipath signals together and so has complex estimation procedure. In order to solve that problem, we propose a new clustered AOA estimation algorithm. The estimation technique based a well-known MUSIC algorithm is proposed and the estimates of the AOA on received clusters are obtained using the proposed technique. The proposed model and estimation technique are verified through computer simulations.

  • This paper proposes a scheme to track channel response in OFDM systems with null sub-carriers. The proposed channel tracking scheme estimates the channel response first in the frequency domain by using the decision directed data. The time domain channel estimation is then performed to remove additive white Gaussian noise (AWGN) components further. Due to the channel estimation in the frequency domain, no inverse matrix calculation is required in the time domain channel estimation. Computational reduction in the proposed method is about 93%, compared with the conventional time domain channel estimation method. Mean square error (MSE) and bit error rate (BER) performances are evaluated by using computer simulation. The proposed method shows the same performance as that of the conventional time domain channel estimation even though the significant computational reduction.

  • In an ultrawide band (UWB) indoor wireless localization, time of arrival (TOA) parameter estimation techniques have some difficulties in acquiring a reasonable TOA estimate because of the clustered multipath components overlapping or random time intervals mainly due to non line-of-sight (NLOS) environment. In order to solve that problem and achieve an excellent UWB indoor wireless localization, we propose a UWB signal model and a robust TOA parameter estimation technique that has little effect on the clustered problems unlike the conventional technique. Through simulation studies, the validity of the proposed model and the TOA estimation technique are examined. The performance of estimation error is also analyzed.

  • Accurate estimation of time-selective fading channel is a difficult problem in OFDM(Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing) system. There are many channel estimation algorithms that are very weak in noisy channel. For solving this problem, we use EM (Expectation-Maximization) algorithm for iterative optimization of the data. We propose an EM-LPC algorithm to estimate the time-selective fading. The proposed algorithm improves of the BER performance compared to EM based channel estimation algorithm and reduces the iteration number of the EM loop. We simulated the uncoded system. If coded system use the EM-LPC algorithm, the performance are enhanced because of the coding gain. The EM-LPC algorithm is able to apply to another communication system, not only OFDM systems. The image processing of the medical instruments that the demand of accurate estimation can also use the proposed algorithm.

  • In this paper, a decision-directed expectation maximization (DEM) algorithm is proposed to improve the performance of channel estimation in OFDM-based cellular systems. The DEM algorithm enables a mobile station (MS) with multiple antennas, located at the cell boundary, to increase the performance of channel estimation using transmit data, without decreasing spectral efficiency. Also, DEM algorithm can apply fast fading without loss of channel estimation performance because that includes channel variation factor in a group. It is verified by computer simulation that the DEM algorithm can reduce computational complexity significantly while improving the performance of channel estimation in fast fading channels, compared with the expectation maximization (EM) algorithm.

This complexity problem depends on discord of necessary accuracy, certainty of noise that exist in data communication damage and converter, adaptability of network modification and minimum of expense size of system, estimated monitering. Also, quantity of available measurement equipment for harmonic measurement has been limited. Therefore, systematic method that choose measurement location for harmonic state estimation. This paper is that see proposed HSE that use Observability Analysis(OA) for harmonic state estimation of electrical power system. OA depends on measurement number, measurement location and measurement form here, it is analysis method that depend on network form and admittance of the system. OA used achieve harmonic state estimation that it is Applied to New Zealand electrical power system to prove validity of HSE algorithm that propose. This study result about harmonic state estimation of electrical power system displayed very economical and effective method by OA.

  • A nonlinear speed control for a permanent magnet (PM) synchronous motor using a simple disturbance estimation technique is presented. By using a feedback linearization, scheme, the nonlinear motor model can be linearized. To compensate an undesirable output performance under the mismatch of the system parameters and load conditions the controller parameters will be estimated by using a disturbance observer theory. Since only the two reduced-order observers are used for the parameter estimation, the observer designs are considerably simple and the computational load of the controller for parameter estimation is negligibly small. The proposed control scheme is implemented on a PM synchronous motor using DSP TMS320C31 and the effectiveness is verified through the comparative experiments.

  • The absolute longitudinal speed of a vehicle is estimated by using data from an accelerometer of the vehicle and wheel speed sensors of a standard 50-tooth antilock braking system. An intuitive solution to this problem is, 'When wheel slip is low, calculate the vehicle velocity from the wheel speeds; when wheel slip is high, calculate the vehicle speed by integrating signal of the accelerometer.' The speed estimator weighted with fuzzy logic is introduced to implement the above concept, which is formulated as an estimation method. And the method is improved through experiments by how to calculate speed from acceleration signal and slip ratios. It is verified experimentally to usefulness of estimation speed of a vehicle. And the experimental result shows that the estimated vehicle longitudinal speed has only a $6\%$ worst-case error during a hard braking maneuver lasting a few seconds.
