Photoluminescence Properties of BiNbO4:RE3+ (RE = Dy, Eu, Sm, Tb) Phosphors (BiNbO4:RE3+ (RE = Dy, Eu, Sm, Tb) 형광체의 광학 특성)

  • $BiNbO_4:RE^{3+}$ (RE = Dy, Eu, Sm, Tb) phosphors were prepared by solid-state reaction at $1100^{\circ}C$ and their structural, photoluminescent, and morphological properties were investigated. XRD patterns exhibited that all the synthesized phosphors exhibited a triclinic system with a dominant (210) diffraction peak, irrespective of the type of activator ions. The surface morphologies of rare-earth-ion-doped $BiNbO_4$ phosphors were found to depend strongly on the type of activator ions. The $Eu^{3+}$ and $Dy^{3+}$ doped $BiNbO_4$ phosphors revealed a strong red (613 nm) emission resulting from the $^5D_0{\rightarrow}^7F_2$ transition of $Eu^{3+}$ and a dominant yellow (575 nm) emission originating from the $^4F_{9/2}{\rightarrow}^6H_{13/2}$ transition of $Dy^{3+}$ respectively, which were the electric dipole transitions, indicating that the activator ions occupy sites of non-inversion symmetry in the $BiNbO_4$ phosphor. The main reddish-orange emission spectra of $Sm^{3+}$-doped $BiNbO_4$ phosphors were due to the $^4G_{5/2}{\rightarrow}^6H_{7/2}$ (607 nm) magnetic dipole transition, indicating that the $Sm^{3+}$ ions were located at inversion symmetry sites in the $BiNbO_4$ host lattice. As for $Tb^{3+}$-doped phosphors, green emission was obtained under excitation at 353 nm and its CIE chromaticity coordinates were (0.274, 0.376). These results suggest that multicolor emission can be achieved by changing the type of activator ions incorporated into the $BiNbO_4$ host crystal.

  • In this study, we investigated the crystal defects and grain boundary properties in a ZZCCC ($ZnO-Zn_2BiVO_6-Co_3O_4-Cr_2O_3-CaCO_3$) varistor, with the liquid-phase sintering aid $Zn_2BiVO_6$ developed by our laboratory. The ZZCCC varistor sintered at $1,200^{\circ}C$ exhibited excellent nonlinear current-voltage characteristics (${\alpha}=63$), with oxygen vacancy ($V_o^*$ ; 0.35 eV) as a main defect, and an apparent activation energy of 1.1 eV with an electrically single grain boundary. Therefore, among the various additives to improve the electrical properties of ZnO varistors, if $Zn_2BiVO_6$ is used as a liquid phase sintering aid, it will be ideal to use Co for the oxygen vacancy and Ca for the electrically single grain boundary. This will allow the good properties of ZnO varistors to be maintained up to high sintering temperatures.

Low Temperature Sintering and Piezoelectric Properties of PCW-PMN-PZT Ceramics with the Variation of Sintering Aids (소결조제 변화에 따른 PCW-PMN-PZT세라믹스의 저온소결 및 압전특성)

  • In this study, in order to develop the low temperature sintering ceramics for multilayer piezoelectric transformer, PCW-PMN-PZT ceramics added with Li$_2$CO$_3$, Bi$_2$O$_3$ and CuO as sintering aids were manufactured, and their microstructural, dielectric and piezoelectric properties were investigated. When the only CuO was added, specimens could not be sintered below 98$0^{\circ}C$. However, when Li$_2$CO$_3$ and Bi$_2$O$_3$ were added, specimens could be sintered below 98$0^{\circ}C$. Li$_2$CO$_3$ and Bi$_2$O$_3$ addition were proved to lower sintering temperature of piezoelectric ceramics due to the effect of Li$_2$O-Bi$_2$O$_3$ liquid phase. Li$_2$CO$_3$ and Bi$_2$O$_3$ added specimens showed higher piezoelectric properties than those of the only CuO added specimens. At 0.2 wt% Li$_2$CO$_3$ and 0.3 wt% Bi$_2$O$_3$ added specimen sintered at 92$0^{\circ}C$, the dielectric constant of 1457, electromechanical coupling factor of 0.56 and mechanical quality factor of 1000 were shown, respectively. These values are suitable for multilayer piezoelectric transformer application.

  • LTCC(low temperature co-fired ceramics)용 glass/ceramic 복합체를 제조하기 위해 4 종류의 borosilicate계 glass를 선정하고 filler로 $Al_2O_3$ ceramics를 filler 사용하여 30~50 vol% glass frit에 따른 소결 및 유전 특성에 대하여 조사하였다. Glass frit은 $SiO_2$$B_2O_3$ 함량비를 고정한 후 R(CaO, BaO, ZnO, $Bi_2O_3$)에 따라 유리 연화온도(Ts)와 함량이 소결에 미치는 영향 및 유전 특성 변화를 고찰한 결과, CaO-$B_2O_3-SiO_2$ glass의 경우 다량의 2 차상이 형성되었고, 이에 $900^{\circ}C$ 이하에서 완전 소결이 이루어지지 않았으며, BaO-$B_2O_3-SiO_2$ glass는 celsian($BaAl_2Si_2O_8$) 결정이 형성되면서 소결성의 저하를 갖고 왔으며, ZnO-$B_2O_3-SiO_2$ glass는 소결이 진행됨에 따라 주상이 $Al_2O_3$에서 gahnite($ZnAl_2O_4$) 결정이 형성되면서 품질계수가 크게 증가하였으며, $Bi_2O_3-B_2O_3-SiO_2$ glass는 45 vol%일 때 $900^{\circ}C$에서부터 일정한 선수축율 특성을 나타내었지만, 다량의 액상으로 인하여 유전 특성의 저하를 나타내었다.

Characteristics of the SrBi2Nb2O9 Thin Films Deposited by RF Magnetron Sputtering with Controlling of Bi Contents (RF마그네트론 스퍼터링 법에 의해 증착된 SrBi2Nb2O9 박막의 Bi 량의 조절에 따른 특성분석)

  • The $SrBi_2$$Nb_2$$O_{9}$ (SBN) thin films were deposited with $SrNb_2$$O_{6}$ / (SNO) and $Bi_2$$O_3$ targets by co-sputtering method. For the growth of SBN thin films, we adopted the various power ratios of two targets; the power ratios of the SNO target to $Bi_2$$O_3$ target were 100 W : 20 W, 100 W : 25 W, and 100 W : 30 W during sputtering the SBN films. We found that the electrical properties of SBN films were greatly dependent on Bi content in films. The $Bi_2$Pt and $Bi_2$$O_3$ phase as second phases occurred at the films with excess Bi content greater than 2.4, resulting in poor ferroelectric properties. The best growth condition of the SBN films was obtained at the power ratio of 100 W : 25 W for the two targets. At this condition, the crystallinity and electrical properties of the films were improved at even low annealing temperature as $700^{\circ}C$ for 1h in oxygen ambient and the Sr, Bi and Nb component in the SBN films were about 0.9, 2.4, and 1.8 respectively. From the P-E and I-V curves for the specimen, the remnant polarization value ($2P_{r}$) of the SBN films was obtained about 6 $\mu$C/c $m^2$ at 250 kV/cm and the leakage current density of this thin film was $2.45$\times$10^{-7}$ $A/cm^2$ at an applied voltage of 3 V.V.

Visible-light Photocatalytic Activity of BiOCl/Bi3O4Cl Nanocomposites

  • The heterojunction structures of BiOCl/$Bi_3O_4Cl$, exhibiting considerable visible-light photocatalytic efficiency, were prepared by a simple wet-chemical process at ambient condition. The prepared nanocomposites were characterized by XRD, TEM, and UV-visible diffuse reflectance spectra. Under visible light (${\lambda}\geq$420 nm) irradiation, BiOCl/$Bi_3O_4Cl$ exhibited an enhanced photocatalytic activity in decomposing 2-propanol (IP) in gas phase and salicylic acid (SA) in aqueous solution, whereas the bare BiOCl and $Bi_3O_4Cl$ showed negligible activities. It is deduced that the remarkable visible-light photocatalytic activity of the BiOCl/$Bi_3O_4Cl$ originates from the hole $(h^+)$ transfer between VB of the $Bi_3O_4Cl$ and BiOCl semiconductors.

Electrical properties of S$SrBi_{2x}Ta_2O_9$ thin films with Bi content (Bi 함량에 따른 $SrBi_{2x}Ta_2O_9$ 박막의 전기적 특성)

  • $SrBi_{2x}Ta_2O_9$ (SBT) thin films were prepared on platinized silicon substrates by MOD process, and their ferroelectric and leakage current characteristics were investigated. The grain size of the MOD derived SBT films increased with increasing the BI/Ta mole ration. Although the SBT films with x of 0.8~1.2 were composed of the equiaxed grains, the elongated grains were also observed for the SBT films with x of 1.4 and 1.6. The SBT film with x of 1.2 exhibited the optimum ferroelectric properties of 2PR : 9.79 $\muC/\textrm{cm}^2$ and Ec : 24.2kV/cm at applied voltage of 5V. The leakage current density of the SBT films increased with increasing the BI/Ta mole ratio. With post annealing process, 2Pr and $E_c$of the SBT film with x of 1.2 increases 11.3 $\muC/\textrm{cm}^2$ and 39.6kV/cm, respectively. decrement of the leakage current density by post annealing process increased remarkably with increasing the Bi/ta mole ratio, and the SBT film with x=1.6 exhibited the lowest leakage current density after post annealing process.

  • Superconductor material $Bi_2Sr_2Ca_2Cu_3O_x$(Bi-2223) powders were synthesized by ultrasonic spray pyrolysis method. It is clear that Bi-2223 phase more than Bi-2212 phase was acquired at sufficient synthesized time. Best condition for Bi-2223 phase was synthesizing temperature at $860^{\circ}C$. We also investigated the effects for concentrations and viscosities of starting liquid precursor as well as temperature distribution of reacting furnace. The size of synthesized powder was decreased by decreasing the concentration of starting liquid precursor. Modified reacting furnace with four different temperature heating zones gave us successful results for desirable nano-powder including $Bi_2Sr_2Ca_2Cu_3O_x$ phase. Citric acid addition to starting liquid precursor showed increasing of the size for synthesized powder. Bi-2223 single phase was acquired from Bi2223 and Bi-2212 mixed phases through heat treatment in box furnace at 24 hours.

  • We investigated the effect of the oxygne partial pressure on the phase stability of B $i_{2}$S $r_{2}$Ca C $u_{2}$ $O_{8+x}$ and B $i_{2}$S $r_{2}$C $a_{2}$C $u_{3}$ $O_{10+x}$ at 82$0^{\circ}C$. As the oxygen pressure decreased, B $i_{2}$Sr/sb 2/CaC $u_{2}$ $O_{8+x}$ melted at 2.2$\times$10$^{-3}$ atm $O_{2}$. In the case of the B $i_{1.7}$P $b_{0.4}$S $r_{2}$C $a_{2}$ $O_{10+x}$, it started to decompose into theree phases of B $i_{2}$S $r_{2}$Cu $O_{6+y}$, $Ca_{2}$Cu $O_{3}$ and C $u_{4}$ $O_{3}$ and C $u_{4}$ $O_{3}$ at 8.0$\times$10$^{-3}$ atm $O_{2}$ and was completely decomposed at 4.3$\times$10$^{-3}$ atm $O_{2}$ B $i_{2}$S $r_{2}$C $a_{2}$C $u_{3}$ $O_{10+x}$ phase was not formed by the solid state reaction from the mixutre of $i_{2}$S $r_{2}$CaCu.sub 2/ $O_{8+x}$, $Ca_{2}$Cu $O_{3}$ and CuO down to 2.2$\times$10.sub -3/ atm O.sub 2/ but formed by the solidifciation of the formed from the mixture of the intermediate compounds in the Bi-Sr-Ca-Cu-O system and the fromation temperature of Bi.sub 2/S $r_{2}$C $a_{2}$Cu.$_{3}$ $O_{10+x}$ can be lowered by reducing oxygen partial pressure.e.e.ure.e.e.

  • Ferroelectric SrBi$_2$Ta$_2$$O_{9}$ thin films were fabricated by tole Sol-Gel method using a spin-on coating with MOD(Metal Organic Dccomposition) solution on Pt/Ti/SiO$_2$/Si(100) substratcs. The films were anncalcd at 80$0^{\circ}C$ for one hour in oxygen atmosphere. The effects of Bi/Ti mole ratios on crystalline orientations, surface morphologies, and subface composition SBT thin films with a Bi/Ta mole ratios from 1.1 to 1.3 were investigated using X-ray Diffractometry (XRD). Atomic Force (AFM), X-Ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy(XPS). Ferroelectric properties of these films were also measured.d.
