A Study on the Synthesis and Properties of (Ba,Pb)$TiO_3$Powder by Modified Oxalate Process (Modified Oxalate Process에 의한 (Ba,Pb)$TiO_3$ 분말합성 및 특성에 관한 연구)

  • In this study (Ba1-xPbx)TiO3 was synthesized by modified oxalate process in order to prevent vaporization of PbO through low temperature synthesis climinate Cl ion reproducibly substitute Pb for by and uniformly distribute ion (Ba1-xPbx)TiO3 was synthesized by coprecipitation of lead acetate barium acetate and ammonium titanyl oxalate have been used as starting materials. The substitution of Pb for Ba was reproducibly possible synthetic temperature of perovskite structure becomes lowed as the Pb concentration increases and fine partic-les (specific surface are :7.2 cm2/g) were obtained, BaTiO3 powders calcined at 90$0^{\circ}C$ for 3 hours were cubic from in XRD analysis and as Pb content was increases evident split of tetragonal peaks could be observed The optimum conditions to synthesize (Ba,Pb)TiO3 powder are the followings ; synthesis temperature (5$^{\circ}C$)

The Structural properties of $BaTiO_3+Nb_2O_5$ ceramics with sintering temperature (소결온도에 따른 $BaTiO_3+Nb_2O_5$ 세라믹스 구조적 특성)

  • The $BaTiO_3+xNb_2O_5$(x=6, 8, 10wt%) ceramics were prepared by conventional mixed oxide method. The structural properties of the $BaTiO_3+Nb_2O_5$ ceramics with the sintering temperature and addition of $Nb_2O_5$ were investigated by XRD and SEM. Increasing the sintering temperature, the $2{\theta}$ value of BT(110) peak was shifted to the lower degree and intensity of the $Ba_6Ti_2Nb_8O_{30}$ (133) peak was increased. Increasing the addition of $Nb_2O_5$, the intensity of $BaTiNb_4O_{13}$ (201) peak was decreased and $Ba_6Ti_2Nb_8O_{30}$ (133) peak was increased. The grain size of the $BaTiO_3+Nb_2O_5$ ceramics sintered at $1500^{\circ}C$ were almost uniform.

Application of Layered Perovskites Substituted with Co and Ti as Electrodes in SOFCs (Co 및 Ti가 치환된 Layered perovskite의 SOFC 전극에 대한 적용성 연구)

  • In this study, the phase and electrochemical properties of Co and Ti substituted layered perovskites SmBaCo2-xTixO5+d (x=0.5, 0.7, 1.0, 1.1, 1.3, and 1.5) were analyzed, and their application as electrodes in solid oxide fuel cells (SOFCs) were evaluated. After calcination at 1300℃ for 6 h, a single phase was observed for two compositions of the SmBaCo2-xTixO5+d oxide system, SmBaCoTiO5+d (x=1.0) and SmBaCo0.9Ti1.1O5+d (x=1.1). However, the phases of SmBaCoTiO5+d (SBCTO) and SmTiO3 coexisted for compositions with x≥1.3 (Ti content). In contrast, for compositions of x≤0.7, the SmBaCo2O5+d phase was observed instead of the SmTiO3 phase. To evaluate the applicability of these materials as SOFC electrodes, the electrical conductivities were measured under various atmospheres (air, N2, and H2). SBCTO exhibited stable semi-conductor electrical conductivity behavior in an air and N2 atmosphere. However, SBCTO showed insulator behavior at temperatures above 600℃ in a H2 atmosphere. Therefore, SBCTO may only be used as cathode materials. Moreover, SBCTO had an area specific resistance (ASR) value of 0.140 Ω·cm2 at 750℃.

Magnetic Ordering in (1-x)BaTiO3-xLaFeO3 Solid Solutions

  • Solid solutions between $BaTiO_3$ and $LaFeO_3$ have been prepared through a solid state reaction method. The X-ray diffraction results reveal that $Ba_{1-x}La_xTi_{1-x}Fe_xO_3$ ($0.1\;{\leq}\;x\;{\leq}\;0.7$) compounds have a cubic structure, whereas the parent material $BaTiO_3$ has a tetragonal structure. The magnetization measurements indicate that the materials have a magnetic ordering at room temperature and the magnetic properties of the solid solutions depending on the doping amount of $LaFeO_3$. The origin of magnetic behaviors is believed to be from $Fe^{3+}$ ions.

The effect of Dy2O3 addition on crystal structure, grain growth, and dielectric properties in BaTiO3 (BaTiO3에서 Dy2O3 첨가가 결정구조, 입자성장 및 유전특성에 미치는 영향)

  • The crystal structure, grain growth behavior, and dielectric properties of BaTiO3 have been studied with the addition of Dy2O3. The powders were synthesized at ratios of (100-x)BaTiO3-xDy2O3 (mol%, x = 0, 0.5, 1.0, 2.0) by a conventional solid-state synthesis, and the powder compacts were sintered at 1250℃ for 2 hours in air. As the amount of added Dy2O3 was increased, the crystal structure of the sintered samples changed from a tetragonal to a pseudo-cubic structure, and the tetragonality decreased. In addition, a secondary phase of Ba12Dy4.67Ti8O35 appeared when Dy2O3 was added. The average grain size after sintering decreased and abnormal grains appeared as the amount of Dy2O3 increased. It can be explained that the grain growth behavior of the Dy2O3 added-BaTiO3 occurs due to the two-dimensional nucleation and growth, and is governed by the interface reaction. Further, the correlation between crystal structure, microstructure, and dielectric properties was discussed.

  • Thin Films of BaYTiO system were Prepared by frequency (rf)/dc magnetron sputtering method. The preparation of target were accomplished by the mixed oxide method, and their composition consisted of the $Ba_{0.997}$ $Y_{0.003}$Ti $O_3$+0.5 $SiO_2$+x $M_{n}$O(x=0, 0.073, 0.1, 0.127, 0.154). The average particle size of (Ba,Y)Ti $O_2$ system ceramics with Mn $O_2$ additives increases as the amount of MnO additives increase and reaches the maximum grain growth when the amount of MnO is 0.127(mol%).).).).

  • The microwave dielectric properties of X Ba0-$0.15(Nd_{0.87}Bi_{0.13})_2O_3$-(0.85-X) $TiO_2$ ($X=0.13{\sim}0.17$) and 0.16Ba0-$0.15(Bi_xNd_{1-x})_2O_3-0.69TiO_2$ ($X=0.10{\sim}0.16$) ceramics were investigated. Dielectric constant, quality factor and temperature coefficient of resonant frequency of 0.16Ba0-$0.15(Nd_{0.87}Bi_{0.13})_2O_3-0.69TiO_2$ ceramics sintered at $1320^{\circ}C$ for 2 hours were 89.2, 1920(at 4GHz) and 5.2ppm/$^{\circ}C$, respectively.
