The Insulation Characteristics of ($Ba_{0.85}Ca_{0.15}$)$TiO_3$-Zn Dielectrics (($Ba_{0.85}Ca_{0.15}$)$TiO_3$-Zn 유전체의 절연특성)

  • The ($Ba_{0.85}Ca_{0.15}$)$TiO_3$-Zndielectrics was made by ZnO mol ratio from 0.1 to 0.4. The characteristics of structural was analyzed by SEM and XRD and the insulating properties was examined by dielectric constant and resistivity. The grain size were 1.3[$\mu\textrm{m}$] and those shape ware a rectangular. The relativity density were over 90[%] in all specimen. It was found that the best insulating characteristics were obtained for 0.3 mol ratio.

  • $(Ba_{0.6}Sr_{0.4}Ca_x)TiO_3 + yAl_2O_3$ wt% (x=0.10, 0.15, 0.20, y=0~3.0) ceramics were fabricated by the mixed-oxide method, and their structural and dielectric properties were investigated with variation of composition ratio and $Al_2O_3$ doping content. As results of the X-ray diffraction and microstructure analysis, all BSCT specimens showed dense and homogeneous structure without presence of the second phase. The sintered density was decreased with an increase of $Al_2O_3$ doping content. The Curie temperature and relative dielectric constant at room temperature were decreased with increasing $Al_2O_3$doping content. The dielectric loss is minimum at BSCT doped with 1.5wt% $Al_2O_3$content. The tunability was decreased with increasing an Ca content and the BSCT(50/40/10) specimen doped with 2.0wt% $Al_2O_3$content showed the maximum value of 4.2%.

  • 본 연구에서는 투광성 0.085Ba(L $a_{1}$2/N $b_{1}$2/) $O_{3}$- 0.915Pb(Z $r_{y}$ $Ti_{1-y}$) $O_{3}$(0.45.leq.y.leq.0.70)세라믹을 2단 소성법으로 제작한 후, PbZr $O_{3}$조성 및 온도에 따른 구조적, 강유전적특성을 측정하였다. XRD측정 결과, PbZr $O_{3}$조성이 감소할수록 결자상수 및 단위격자 체적은 감소하였으며 시편의 결정구조는 입방정계에서 능면체정계, 정방정계로 변화되었다. 8.5/60/40시편의 경우 포화분극, 잔류분극 및 항전계가 각각 33.28[.mu.C/$cm^{2}$], 4.15[kV/cm]로 전형적인 메모리 특성을 나타내었으며 PbZr $O_{3}$조성이 증가함에 따라 강유전 이력곡선은 slim loop특성을 나타내었다. 잔류분극은 온도가 증가함에 따라 감소하였으며 특히 PE-FE상경계 부근에 위치한 조성의 경우, 상전이 온도 이하의 온도에서 급격히 감소하는 경향을 나타내었다.다.

Properties of the Positive Temperature Coefficient Resistor Behavior on the Na and K Doped BaTiO3 (Na 및 K 치환에 따른 BaTiO3의 Positive Temperature Coefficient Resistor 특성)

  • The influences of Na and K content on the crystal phase, the microstructure and the electrical property of $BaTiO_3$-based thermistors was found to show typical PTC effects. The crystal phase of powder calcined at $1000^{\circ}C$ for 4hrs showed a single phase with $BaTiO_3$, and the crystal structure was transformed from tetragonal to cubic phase according to added amounts of Na and K. In XRD results at $43^{\circ}\sim47^{\circ}$, the $(Ba_{0.858}Na_{0.071}K_{0.071})(Ti_{0.9985}Nb_{0.0015})O_{3-\delta}$ showed (002) and (200) peaks but the $(Ba_{0.762}Na_{0.119}K_{0.119})(Ti_{0.9975}Nb_{0.0025})O_{3-\delta}$ showed (002), (020) and (200) peaks. In sintered bodies, those calcined at $600^{\circ}C$ rather than at $1000^{\circ}C$ were dense, and for certain amounts of Na and K showed rapid decreases in grain size. In relative permittivity, the curie temperature due to the transformation of ferroelectric phase rose with added Na and K but decreased in terms of relative permittivity. In the result of the R-T curve, the sintered bodies have curie temperatures of about $140^{\circ}C$ and the resistivity of sintered bodies have scores of $\Omega{\cdot}cm$; the jump order of sintered bodies was shown to be more than $10^4$ in powder calcined at $1000^{\circ}C$.

Electrical Properties of (Ba, Sr)TiO$_3$ Thin Film Deposited on RuO$_2$Electrode

  • The variation of electrical properties of (Ba, Sr)TiO$_3$[BST] thin films deposited of RuO$_2$electrode with (Ba+Sr)/Tr ration was investigated. BST thin films with various (Ba+Sr)/Tr ration were deposited on RuO$_2$/Si substrates using in-situ RF magnetron sputtering. It was found that the electrical properties of BST films depends on the composition in the film. The dielectric constant of the BST films is about 190 at the (Ba+Sr)/Tr ration of 1.0, 1,025 and does not change markedly. But , the dielectric constant degraded to 145 as the (Ba+Sr)/Tr ratio increase to 1.0. In particular, the leakage current mechanism of the films shows the strong dependence on the (Ba+Sr)/Tr ration in the films. At the ration (Ba+Sr)/Tr=1,025, the Al/BST/RuO$_2$ capacitor show the most asymmetric behavior in the leakage current density, vs, electric field plot. It is considered that the leakage current of the (Ba+Sr)/Tr=1,025 thin films is controlled by the battier-Iimited process, i,e, Schottky emission.

TCC behavior of a shell phase in core/shell structure formed in Y-doped BaTiO3: an individual observation (Yttrium이 첨가된 BaTiO3에서 형성된 core/shell 구조에서 shell의 TCC 거동: 독립적 관찰)

  • Grains in the BaTiO3, which is used for a dielectric layer in MLCC(Multi-Layer Ceramic Capacitor) are necessary to form core/shell structure for a stable TCC(Temperature Coefficient of Capacitance) behavior. The shell property has been deduced from the whole TCC behavior of core/shell structure due to its tiny size, ~ few ㎛. This study demonstrates the individual TCC behavior of the shell phase measured by micro-contact measurement in a temperature range between 35 and 135℃. Pt electrode pairs deposited on an enlarged core/shell structure in a diffusion couple sample made the measurement possible. As a result, the DPT (Diffusion Phase Transition) behavior of the shell phase was revealed as a different TCC behavior from that of the core: a broad peak with Tm at 65℃. This would be also useful experimental data for a modelling that depicts dielectric-temperature behavior of core/shell structure.

Dispersion stability of ultra-fine $BaTiO_3$ suspensions in aqueous medium

  • The effect of pH and particle size on the dispersion stability of ultra-fine $BaTiO_3$ suspensions in aqueous medium have been investigated by means of zeta potential, sediment experiments, and powder properties (particle analysis, specific surface area) etc. Zeta potential as a function of pH for two particles of different size increases from -75 to +10 mV with decreasing pH from 8.5 to 1.4. The curve of zeta potential for small particle (150 nm) has slow slope than that of large particle (900nm), giving IEP (isoelectric point) value of pH=1.6 for small particle and pH=1.9 for large particle respectively, which means that it is more difficult to control zeta potential with pH fur small particle than large particle. The dispersion stability of $BaTiO_3$ particles in aqueous medium was found to be strongly related with the agglomeration of colloidal suspensions with time through the sedimentation behaviors of colloidal particles with time and pH value.

  • Aerosol deposition method(ADM)는 상온에서 에어로졸화된 고상의 원료분말을 노즐을 통해 분사시켜 소결과정을 거치지 않고도 상온에서 고밀도 후막을 제조할 수 있는 공정으로서, 다양한 재료의 코팅이 가능하고, 코팅층의 조성 및 화학 양론비의 제어가 용이한 특징을 갖는다. 본 연구에서는 ADM을 이용하여 큰 유전상수, 압전계수, 초전계수, 탄성계수를 갖는 $BaTiO_3$ 분말을 원료로 하여 압전소자, 커패시터, 고전압용 유전체 등에 응용이 가능한 세라믹 층 형성에 관한 연구를 진행하였다. 또한 $BaTiO_3$ 같은 강유전체 세라믹을 이용하여 여러 가지 소자를 제조하는 경우 소자의 미세조직에 따라 물성이 영향을 받는 것으로 확인되어져 있다. 이에 본 연구에서는 세라믹 분말보다 상대적으로 탄성이 큰 polymer 분말을 첨가하여 후막 내부의 결정립의 크기가 20 nm 의 평균 결정립을 갖는 세라믹 후막에 비해 최대 10 배 정도까지 증가하는 것을 확인할 수 있었으며, 이에 따라 후막에서의 유전율 및 유전손실율의 전기적 특성 변화를 확인할 수 있었고, 이러한 물성변화에 대한 원인 고찰을 위하여 후막의 미세구조 및 화학조성 등에 대한 다양한 분석이 이루어 졌으며, 상온에서 성막되는 후막의 세라믹 층의 응용을 위한 최적의 공정조건을 제시하고자 한다.

Suppression of Abnormal Grain Growth in Barium Titanate by Atmosphere Control

  • The ferroelectric properties of barium titanate strongly depend on its microstructure, in particular, grain size and distribution. During sintering, $BaTiO_3$ usually exhibits abnormal grain growth, which deteriorates considerably the ferroelectric properties. A typical technique to suppress the abnormal grain growth is the addition of dopants. Dopant addition, however, affects the ferroelectric properties and thus limits the application of $BaTiO_3$. Here, we report a simple but novel technique to prevent the abnormal grain growth of $BaTiO_3$ and to overcome the limitation of dopant use. The technique consists of stepwise sintering in a reducing atmosphere and in an oxidizing atmosphere. The materials prepared by the present technique exhibit uniform grain size and high dielectric properties. The technique should provide opportunities of having $BaTiO_3$-based materials with superior ferroelectric properties.

Low-temperature Sintering and Microwave Properties in (Ba$_{0.5}$Pb$_{0.5}$)Nd$_2$Ti$_5$O$_14$ Ceramics ((Ba$_{0.5}$Pb$_{0.5}$)Nd$_2$Ti$_5$O$_14$ 마이크로파 유전체의 저온소결과 마이크로파 특성)

  • The effects of glass addition on the densification and the microwave properties of $(Ba_{0.5}Pb_{0.5})Nd_2Ti_5O_{14}$ dielectric system were studied. When 2~3 wt% of borosilicate glass were added, the density increased and the better microwave properties were obtained. When a sample was sintered at $950^{\circ}C$ with 3 wt% of glass, the quality factor and the temperature coefficient of the resonant frequency of the specimen were 4500 and +10 $ppm/^{\circ}C$, respectively. The dielectric constant, however, decreased from 90 to 75 with glass addition.
