  • Catalytic activity changes of perovskite catalysts were examined with their A-site substitution. For the preparation of catalysts, Mn was used for B-site component and La, Ce, Sr, Ba, Ca, Ag were used for A-site component of the perovskite $catalysts(ABO_3)$ The effect of calcination temperature on methane combustion and perovskite structure was also investigated. The surface area and adsorbed oxygen species were tested with BET apparatus and $O_2-TPD$, respectively. Perovskite catalysts whose A-site was partially substituted needed higher calcination temperature than un-substituted one to form the perovskite structure. From $O_2-TPD$ experiment, it was found that methane combustion activity was directly related to the oxygen desorbing ability of the catalysts. The prepared catalyst(LM-7) was stable at $600^{\circ}C$ for 72 hours of reaction.

  • Two white light emitting diodes(LEDs) were fabricated by using two kinds of yellow phosphor, YAG:Ce and $(Sr,Ba)_2SiO4:Eu$, and their spectroscopic properties were analyzed as a function of temperature from room temperature to $80^{\circ}C$. The asymmetric double sigmoidal function was applied to both blue and yellow peaks of the emitting spectrum to obtain the center wavelength, the amplitude, the half width, and the skewness parameters. According to this analysis, the center wavelength of the blue peak shifted to longer wavelength while that of the yellow peak shifted to shorter wavelength. In addition, some of the skewness parameters were found to increase upon heating, which indicates that spectrum asymmetry becomes enhanced at higher temperatures. The changes in the color coordinates and the luminous efficacy were larger for the case of silicate-based white LED. These results suggest that the silicate-based white LED is inferior to the YAG-based white LED from the viewpoint of color stability, efficacy and color rendering index.

  • The alumina substrates that Ni electrode was printed on and the multi-layered PTCR thermistors of which composition is $(Ba_{0.998}Ce_{0.002})TiO_3+0.001MnCO_3+0.05BN$ were fabricated by a thick film process, and the effect of re-oxidation temperature on their resistivities and resistance jumps were investigated, respectively. Ni electroded alumina substrate and the multi-layered PTC thermistor were sintered at $1150^{\circ}C$ for 2 h under $PO_2=10^{-6}$ Pa and then re-oxidized at $600{\sim}850^{\circ}C$ for 20 min. With increasing the re-oxidation temperature, the room temperature resistivity increased and the resistance jump ($LogR_{290}/R_{25}$) decreased, which seems to be related to the oxidation of Ni electrode. The small sized chip PTC thermistor such as 2012 and 3216 exhibits a nonlinear and rectifying behavior in I-V curve but the large sized chip PTC thermistor such as 4532 and 6532 shows a linear and ohmic behavior. Also, the small sized chip PTC thermistor such as 2012 and 3216 is more dependent on the re-oxidation temperature and easy to be oxidized in comparison with the large sized chip PTC thermistor such as 4532 and 6532. So, the re-oxidation conditions of chip PTC thermistor may be determined by considering the chip size.
