  • 본 연구는 습식법으로 수산화 알루미늄과 티타니아를 출발물질로 하여 $Al_2$O$_3$-TiO$_2$복합분체를 제조하였으며, 2 mol의 Al(OH)$_3$분말에 대하여 TiO$_2$분말량을 1, 3, 5, 7, 9, 11 wt%로 첨가하여 $Al_2$O$_3$-TiO$_2$복합분체의 특성을 조사하였다. 제조된 $Al_2$O$_3$-TiO$_2$계 복합분체는 $700^{\circ}C$~140$0^{\circ}C$까지 하소하여 XRD 분석을 한 결과 100$0^{\circ}C$까지는 TiO$_2$(rutile)상과 η-Al$_2$O$_3$상이 공존하다가 110$0^{\circ}C$부터 130$0^{\circ}C$까지는 η-Al$_2$O$_3$에서 $\alpha$-Al$_2$O$_3$로의 상전이가 일어나서 $\alpha$-Al$_2$O$_3$상과 TiO$_2$(rutile)상이 나타났으며 하소온도 140$0^{\circ}C$, TiO$_2$첨가량이 5 wt%일 때부터 $Al_2$TiO$_{5}$가 생성되기 시작하였다. TiO$_2$첨가량에 따른 비표면적값은 첨가량이 7 wt%까지는 감소하였으나 그 이상 첨가시 증가하였다. 입도분석 결과 평균입경은 15.74~23.21$mu extrm{m}$로서 TiO$_2$첨가량이 3 wt%일 때 가장 작은 값을 가졌으며 TiO$_2$첨가량은 5 wt% 이상부터 점차 감소하였다.

  • Sinterability, mechanical and electrical properties of yttria-stabilized zirconia(92 mole% $ZrO_{2}$+8 mole% $Y_{2}O_{3}$) doped with 0.5 mole% $SiO_{2}$ and $0{\sim}2.0 mole%{\;}Al_{2}O_{3}$ were studied as a function of $Al_{2}O_{3}$ addition. Sintered density increased with increasing $Al_{2}O_{3}$ addition up to 0.5 mole % but leveled off with further addition. Victors hardness is proportional to sintered density. The specimen with 0.5 mole% $Al_{2}O_{3}$ and 0.5 mole% $SiO_{2}$ exhibited the maximum electrical conductivity and revealed a maximum electromotive force for a given oxygen partial pressure. Experimental voltage curve of this oxygen sensor take on a sharper, more steplike transition at the stoichiometric A/F ratio than those of other commercial oxygen sensors.

  • The effects of the addition of either monoclinic $ZrO_2(ZrO_2(m))$ or tetragonal $ZrO_2(ZrO_2(t))$ containing 5.35[wt%] $Y_2O_3$ on the physical properties and electrical conductivity of $Al_2O_3$ were investigated. The addition of $ZrO_2$(m) and $ZrO_2$(t) increased sintered density of $Al_2O_3$. The Vickers hardness also increased as addition of $ZrO_2$(t) increased going through a maximum at 20[wt%] and the hardness of the specimens was found to be dependent on the sintered density. The addition of $ZrO_2$(t) improved the hardness of $Al_2O_3-ZrO_2$ systems and the $ZrO_2$(m) addition showed the better effect on the thermal shock property of $Al_2O_3-ZrO_2$ systems than that of the $ZrO_2$(t) addition. Above 15[wt%] addition of $ZrO_2$(t), the electrical conductivity is gradually increased with increasing applied voltage but not effects by addition of $ZrO_2$(m).

  • 첨가제로 $Al_{2}$$O_{3}$가 포함된 ZnO 소결체가 타깃을 이용하여 RF 마그네트론 스퍼터링법으로 Al이 첨가된 ZnO박막을 증착하고, 타깃에 첨가된 $Al_{2}$$O_{3}$의 농도와 증착시 스퍼터링장치내의 기판위치에 따른 박막의 물성 변화를 고찰하였다. 타깃의 $Al_{2}$$O_{3}$ 첨가농도가 2wt%인 경우에 비저항치 8 $\times$ $10_{-3}$ $\Omega$-cm인 박막이 증차되었다. 또한 $Al_{2}$$O_{3}$가 2wt%이상 첨가된 경우는 모든 Al이 박막내부에서 Zn를 치환하여 전자주게로의 역할을 하지 못하고, 오히려 치환되지 못한 Al원자의 중성 불순물 산란효과에 의해 박막의 비저항이 증가하였다. 타깃의 마모영역 위에서 증착된 Al을 첨가한 ZnO 박막은 그 영역 KR에서 증착된 박막보다 높은 비저항값을 나타냈으며, 이는 큰 에너지를 가지는 산소입자의 충돌에 기인한 것으로 여겨진다.

Sintering Properties of Renewed ${Al_2}{O_3}$Ceramics with Particle Size and Addition Amount of Recycling Powder (재활용원료의 첨가량과 입경에 따른 재생 ${Al_2}{O_3}$ 세라믹스의 소결 특성)

  • The sintering behaviors of the renewed $Al_2$O$_3$ceramics were investigated as functions of the addition amount and particle size of recycling $Al_2$O$_3$powder, such as crushed powder of structural $Al_2$O$_3$ceramics and waste $Al_2$O$_3$adsorbent, were investigated. Pure $Al_2$O$_3$sample was fabricated by sintered at 1,$650^{\circ}C$ for 5h and it was crushed into powder (-40${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$and +40${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ in particle size) by thermal shock treatment and crushing. Then, 10~50wt% of crushed $Al_2$O$_3$powder and waste $Al_2$O$_3$adsorbent were mixed with pure $Al_2$O$_3$powder and were subjected to re-sintering to renewed $Al_2$O$_3$sample. The density and the 3-point bending strength increased with increasing the sintering temperature without regard to the addition amount and particle size of recycling $Al_2$O$_3$powder, and that of the samples at the same sintering temperature decreased with increasing the addition amount and particle size of recycling $Al_2$O$_3$powder. Samples over 200 Mpa of 3-point bending strength were obtained by mixing ~30wt% of crushed $Al_2$O$_3$powder(-40${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$), ~20wt% of crushed $Al_2$O$_3$powder (+40${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$) and 10wt% of waste $Al_2$O$_3$adsorbent. 5~20wt% of waste glass powder containing renewed $Al_2$O$_3$samples for densification were fabricated by sintered at 1200~1$650^{\circ}C$ for 5h. The temperature of maximum density and 3-point bending strength decreased with increasing the addition amount of waste glass powder, however, these samples at above 140$0^{\circ}C$ showed lower density and bending strength than renewed $Al_2$O$_3$samples. The addition of waste glass powder did not improved the densification of renewed $Al_2$O$_3$sample.

  • Particulate composites of $Al_2O_3$/TiC/SiC, $Al_2O_3$/TiC and $Al_2O_3$/SiC have been fabricated by hot pressing and their R-curve behaviors and mechanical properties were investigated. $Al_2O_3$ containing 30 vol% TiC particles showed higher toughness by 8% than that for monolithic alumina and its fracture strength was increased significantly by approximately 30%. On the other hand, the addition of 30 vol% SiC of $3{\mu}m$ in $Al_2O_3$ decreased the fracture strength slightly but induced a rising R-curve behavior owing to the strong crack bridging of SiC particles. In case of $Al_2O_3$/TiC/SiC, arising R-curve behavior was also observed and the fracture toughness reached 6.6 MPa${\cdot}\sqrt{m}$ at the crack length of $1000{\mu}m$, which was lower than that of $Al_2O_3$/SiC, however, while the fracture strength was higher by about 20%. The fracture toughness seemed to be decreased as smaller TiC particles roughened the SiC interface and pullout of the SiC particles for crack bridging became less active.

  • $Al_2O_3/SiC$ Hybrid-Composite has been fabricated by conventional powder process. The addition of $\alpha-Al_2O_3$ as seed particles in the transformation of $\gamma-Al_2O_3 to $\alpha-Al_2O_3$ provided a homogeneity of the microstructure, resulting in increase of mechanical properties. The grain growth of $Al_2O_3$ are significantly surpressed by the addition of nano-sized. SiC particles, increasing in fracture strength. The addition of SiC plates to $Al_2O_3$ nano-composite decreased the fracture strength, but increased the fracture toughness. Coated SiC plates with nitrides such as BN and /SiC$Si_3N_4$ enhanced fracture toughness much more than uncoated SiC plates by inducing crack deflection.

Effects of Al Doping on Sinterabllity and Microstructure in $UO_2-6wt%Gd_2O_3$ Pellets ($UO_2-6wt%Gd_2O_3$ 소결체에서 Al 첨가가 소결성 및 미세조직에 미치는 영향)

  • The sinterability and the microstructure of Al doped UO$_2$-6wt%Gd$_2$O$_3$pellets, which were doped using Al(OH)$_3$, ADS(aluminium distearate), Al(OH)$_3$+ ADS mixture and sintered at 1$700^{\circ}C$ for 4h in H$_2$, atmospheres, were examined. The sintered densities of Al doped UO$_2$-6wt%Gd$_2$O$_3$pellets were more than 94% T.D.. The open porosity in ADS doped pellets was dramatically decreased. And the amounts of pores less than l${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ and larger than 10${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ were decreased regardless of the kinds of doped Al compounds. And the average pore size of Al doped UO$_2$-6wt%Gd$_2$O$_3$pellets was ranged between 2 and 3${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$. While grain structure of non-doped UO$_2$-6wt%Gd$_2$O$_3$pellets was revealed to be duplex type (rocks in sands), that of Al doped pellets to be uniformly equiaxid type. Especially, the grain size in ADS doped pellets was averaged to 4.6${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$.

  • The effects of the addition of either monoclinic $ZrO_2(pure)$ or tetragonal $ZrO_2$ containing 5.35wt% $Y_2O_3(Y-TZP)$ on the mechanical properties and thermal shock resistance of $Al_2O_3$ ceramics were investigated. The addition of $ZrO_2$(m) and Y-TZP increased sintered density of $Al_2O_3$. The Vickers hardness also increased as the volume fraction of Y-TZP increased going through a maximum at 20wt%. The hardness of the specimens was found to be dependent on the sintered density. The higher volume fraction of either $ZrO_2(m)$ or Y-TZP resulted in the higher fracture toughness of the composite was. This result may be taken as evidence that toughening of $Al_2O_3$ can be achieved by not only the transformation toughening but microcrack toughening of $ZrO_2$. The thermal shock property for $Al_2O_3-ZrO_2$ composites was improved by increasing the volume fraction of monoclinic $ZrO_2(pure)$. The grain size increased as the volume fraction of $ZrO_2$ did.

  • "Electrical Properties of Barium Titanates with Addition Sb2O3." PTC BaTiO3 in low resistance at room temperature was prepatred. Al2O3, SiO2 and TiO2 were doped with a view to improving reproduction. Sb2O3 was doped as impurity in order to control of resistivity of the specimens. The relations between the amount of Sb3O3 and electrical properties wereinvestigated. Of the compositions studied, additions of 3.75mole% Al2O3, 1.25mole% SiO2, 2.25mole% TiO2 and 0.16~0.25wt% Sb2O3 to BaTiC3 was low resistivity in 14-300 ohm-cm.00 ohm-cm.
