Holographic grating formation of Ag/AsGeSeS multi layer (Ag/AsGeSeS 다층 박막의 홀로그래픽 격자 형성)

  • In this paper, we investigated the diffraction efficiency of polarization holography using by amorphous $Ag/As_{40}Ge_{10}Se_{15}S_{35}$ multi-layer thin films by He-Ne laser. Multi-layer structures were formed by alternating a layer of meta1(Ag) and chalcogenide( $Ag/As_{40}Ge_{10}Se_{15}S_{35}$ ). The holographic grating in these thin flims has been formed using a linealy polarized He-Ne laser light (633nm). The diffraction efficiency was investigated the two sample of $Ag/As_{40}Ge_{10}Se_{15}S_{35}-7$ layers and $Ag/As_{40}Ge_{10}Se_{15}S_{35}-15$ layers. As the results, we found that the diffraction efficiency of $Ag/As_{40}Ge_{10}Se_{15}S_{35}-7$ layers and $Ag/As_{40}Ge_{10}Se_{15}S_{35}-15$ layers were 1.7% and 2.5% respectively.

  • Single crystal $AgGaSe_2$ layers were grown on thoroughly etched semi-insulating GaAs(100) substrate at $420^{\circ}C$ with hot wall epitaxy (HWE) system by evaporating $AgGaSe_2$ source at $630^{\circ}C$. The crystalline structure of the single crystal thin films was investigated by the photoluminescence and double crystal X-ray diffraction (DCXD). The temperature dependence of the energy band gap of the $AgGaSe_2$ obtained from the absorption spectra was well described by the Varshni's relation, $E_g(T)=19501 eV-(879{\times}10^{-4} eV/K)T^2/(T+250 K)$.

  • Single crystal $AgGaSe_2$ layers were grown on thoroughly etched semi-insulating GaAs(100) substrate at 420 $^{\circ}C$ with hot wall epitaxy (HWE) system by evaporating $AgGaSe_2$ source at 630 $^{\circ}C$. The crystalline structure of the single crystal thin films was investigated by the photoluminescence and double crystal X-ray diffraction (DCXD). The carrier density and mobility of single crystal $AgGaSe_2$ thin films measured with Hall effect by van def Pauw method are $9.24\times10^{16}cm^{-3}$ and 295 $cm^2/V{\cdot}s$ at 293 K, respectively.

Effects of Ag Additives on Electrical and Optical Properties of As2Se3 Thin Films (비정질 As2Se3 박막에 첨가된 은이 전기 및 광학적 성질에 미치는 효과)

  • D.c conductivity and optical transmittance of amorphous ($As_2Se_3$)Ag, (x =0, 2, 5, 10mol%) thin films were measured in order to find effects of Ag additives on electrical and optical properties of the films. The d.c. activation energy and the optical gap decreased with increasing Ag contents the Urbach tail was approximately unchangeable for variation of Ag contents. For Ag contents of 5mol% and less, the rate of decrease of the d.c activation energy was more rapidly than that of the optical gap with increasing Ag contents. For Ag contents more than 5mol%, the rate of decrease of the d.c activation energy and the optical gap were nearly the same each other with decreasing Ag contents. So it was appeared that the Fermi level of the films comes close to the mobility edge for Ag contents of 5mol% and less, and the mobility edge comes close the Fermi level for Ag contents more than 5mol%.

  • The results of investigations of $Ag_2Se$ single crystal is presented. $Ag_2Se$ crystal was grown by the Bridgman method. The $Ag_2Se$ single crystal was an orthorhombic structure with lattice constance a=4.1686 $\AA$, b=9.0425 $\AA$, c=8.0065 $\AA$. Hall effect shows a n-type conductivity in the $Ag_2Se$ single crystal. The electrical resistivity values was $1.25{\times}10^3ohm^{-1}cm^{-1}$ and electron mobility was $-5.48{\times}10^3cm^2/V{\cdot}sec$ at room temperature(RT).

  • The stochiometric $AgGaSe_2$ polycrystalline mixture of evaporating materials for the $AgGaSe_2$ single crystal thin film was prepared from horizontal furnance. To obtain the single crystal thin films, $AgGaSe_2$ mixed crystal and semi-insulating GaAs(100) wafer were used as source material and substrate for the Hot Wall Epitaxy (HWE) system, respectively. The source and substrate temperature were fixed at $630^{\circ}C$ and $420^{\circ}C$, respectively. The thickness of grown single crystal thin films is $2.1{\mu}m$. The single crystal thin films were investigated by photoluminescence and double crystal X-ray diffraction(DCXD) measurement. From the photoluminescence measurement of $AgGaSe_2$ single crystal thin film, we observed free excition ($E_x$) observable only in high quality crystal and neutral bound excition ($D^{\circ}$,X) having very strong peak intensity. And, the full width at half maximum and binding energy of neutral donor bound excition were 8 meV and 14.1 meV, respectively. By Haynes rule, an activation energy of impurity was 141 meV.

Ag2Se-Graphene/TiO2 Nanocomposites, Sonochemical Synthesis and Enhanced Photocatalytic Properties Under Visible Light

  • $Ag_2Se$-Graphene/$TiO_2$ composite was synthesized by a facile sonochemical method. The as-prepared products were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) with energy dispersive X-ray (EDX) analysis, transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and UV-vis diffuse reflectance spectrophotometer. During the reaction, both of the reduction of graphene oxide and loading of $Ag_2Se$ and $TiO_2$ particles were achieved. The as-prepared $Ag_2Se$-Graphene/$TiO_2$ composites possessed great adsorptivity of dyes, extended light absorption range, and efficient charge separation properties simultaneously. Hence, in the photodegradation of rhodamine B (Rh.B), a significant enhancement in the reaction rate was observed with $Ag_2Se$-Graphene/$TiO_2$ composites, compared to the pure $TiO_2$. The high activity can be attributed to the synergetic effects of high charge mobility, and red shift in absorption edge of $Ag_2Se$-Graphene/$TiO_2$ composites.

  • Topological insulator (TI) has non-trivial metallic surface states and has provoked many studies of property of this metarial. One of TI, $Bi_2Se_3$ is the promising metarial due to application of quantum devices. We investigate the effect of Ag adatom in the $Bi_2Se_3$ (111) surface. The silver atom prefers to locate within the vdW gap between the QLs rather than on the top surface. The effect of Ag adsorption is the rise of the Fermi level implying that the adsorbed Ag atoms behave like electron donors.

  • Single crystal $AgGaSe_2$ layers were grown on thoroughly etched semi-insulating GaAs(100) substrate at $420^{\circ}C$ with hot wall epitaxy (HWE) system by evaporating $AgGaSe_2$ source at $630^{\circ}C$. The temperature dependence of the energy band gap of the $AgGaSe_2$ obtained from the absorption spectra was well described by the Varshni's relation, $E_g$(T)=1.9501 eV - $(8.79{\times}10^{-4}\;eV/K)T^2$/(T+250 K). The crystal field and the spin-orbit splitting energies for the valence band of the $AgGaSe_2$ have been estimated to be 0.3132 eV and 0.3725 eV at 10 K, respectively, by means of the photocurrent spectra and the Hopfield quasicubic model. These results indicate that the splitting of the ${\Delta}so$ definitely exists in the ${\Gamma}_5$ states of the valence band of the $AgGaSe_2$. The three photocurrent peaks observed at 10 K are ascribed to the $A_{1^-},\;B_{1^-},\;and\;C_{1^-}$exciton peaks for n=1.
