유한요소해석을 이용한 GIS용 AE 센서의 설계와 특성 (Design and Characteristics of AE Sensor for GIS by Finite Element Analys)

  • In this paper, the coupled and the non-coupled vibration mode AE sensor for GIS were simulated by finite element analysis and manufactured, and characterized. The maximum sensitivity was 64.3 dB when the resonant frequency of the coupled vibration mode AE sensor was 166 kHz and the maximum sensitivity was 58.9 dB when the resonant frequency of the non-coupled mode AE sensor was 265 kHz. The coupled vibration mode AE sensor responded higher than the non-coupled vibration mode AE sensor at the partial discharge detection in GIS.

  • This paper investigates the relationship between cutting conditions and Acoustic Emission(AE) signals; $AE_{avg}$, $AE_{rms}$, $AE_{mode}$$AE_{avg}$ and $AE_{rms}$ are increased as the increasing of cutting velocity and depth of cut respectively. 부분방전 전하량에 따른 음향방출 센서의 응답특성 (Response Characteristics of Acoustic Emission Sensor according to Partial Discharge Quantities)

  • The response characteristics of AE (acoustic emission) sensors with a coupled vibration mode and a non-coupled vibration mode were investigated according to PD(partial discharge) quantities in XLPE (cross linked polyethylene) sheets and craft papers immersed in insulating oil. The response voltages of a coupled vibration mode AE sensor were linearly proportional to the PD quantities up to 1,000 pC in XLPE sheets, while a non-coupled vibration mode AE sensor did not show the similar linearity. In case of a test of craft papers immersed in insulating oil, a linearity between response voltages and PD quantities was observed up to 550 pC, but after that, similar linearity between response voltage of any types of AE sensor and PD quantities was not shown.

Characterizing the damage mechanisms in mode II delamination in glass/epoxy composite using acoustic emission

  • Mode II delamination propagation is an important damage mode in laminated composites and this paper aims to investigate the behavior of this damage in laminated composite materials using acoustic emission (AE) technique. Three different lay-ups of glass/epoxy composites were subjected to mode II delamination propagation and generated AE signals were recorded. In order to investigate the propagation of delamination behavior of these specimens, AE signals were analyzed using Wavelet Packet Transforms (WPT) and Fast Fourier Transform (FFT). In addition, conventional AE analyses were used to enhance understanding of the propagation of delamination damage. The results indicate that different fracture mechanisms were the main cause of the AE signals. The dominant mechanisms in all the specimens were matrix cracking, fiber/matrix debonding and fiber breakage, with varying percentage of the damage mechanisms for each lay-up. Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) observations were in accordance to the AE results.

  • In order to detect the partial discharge with the metallic particle in GIS the AE(Acoustic Emission) sensor was designed and simulated by ANSYS 5.5 and manufactured as the coupled vibration mode. The measured resonant frequency and the maximum sensitivity frequency of three coupled AE sensors were as follows ; 147.88 kHz in 8.1mm $\Phi$$\times$8.1mm 128.82 kHz and 58.8 kHz in 9.5 mm$\Phi$$\times$9.5mm, 85.22 kHz and 32.6 kHz in 14.3 mm$\Phi$$\times$14.3 mm, resonant frequency of the AE sensor. The AE sensor of 9.5 mm$\Phi$$\times$9.5mm responded higher than the other coupled vibration mode AE sensor at the partial discharge detection in GIS.

암석파괴시 발생되는 미세균열의 발생원에 대한 연구 (A Study on Source Mechanisms of Micro-Cracks Induced by Rock Fracture)

  • 암석 시료가 파괴될 때에 발생되는 AE신호는 미세한 균열 발생시의 갑작스런 변형에너지 해바에 기인한다. 압전 압력형 탐촉자와 다채널 기록장치를 이용하여 AE 신호파를 기록하여 분석하므로 외적인 하중조건과 그에 따른 미세균열의 특징에 대하여 연구하였다. 연구결과 미세균열의 체적은 수 $\mu\textrm{m}^3$ 내지 $150,000\mu\textrm{m}^3$로 산출되어서 그 크기가 넓은 범위로 분포하였고 인장형 미세균열이 대체적으로 전단형 보다 큰 체적을 보였다. 또한, 균열원에서의 에너지 강도는 모드 I 하중조건하에서 발생하는 AE 신호가 혼합모드 조건하에서 발생한 신호보다 약 3배정도 크게 나타났으나,시료가 파괴되는 동안 기록된 AE 신호의 숫자는 반대로 모드 I의 경우가 혼합모드의 25%에 불과하였다. 이러한 사실은 같은 크기의 파괴면을 형성하는데 필요한 에너지 요구량이 대체적으로 동일함을 암시하는 것으로 보인다.

음향방출 센서 응용을 위한 결합진동 모드 압전소자의 공진 변위 궤적 (Trajectory of Resonant Displacement of Coupled Vibration Mode Piezoelectric Devices for AE Sensor Application)

  • In this study, coupled mode piezoelectric devices for AE sensor application with excellent displacement and piezoelectric characteristics were simulated using ATILA FEM program, and then fabricated. Displacements and electromechanical coupling factors of the piezoelectric devices were investigated. The simulation results showed that excellent displacement and electromechanical coupling factor were obtained when the ratio of diameter/thickness was 1.0. The piezoelectric device of ${\Phi}/T$= 1.0 exhibited the optimum values of fr= 406 kHz, displacement= $6.11{\times}10^{-8}[m]$, $k_{eff}$= 0.648. The results show that the coupled vibration mode piezoelectric device is a promising candidate for the application of AE sensor piezoelectric device.

SNR Improvement of AE Signal for Detection of Gas Leak from Tubes under Vibratory Environment

  • Detection of gas leak from a tube is a very important issue in the quality control of machines such as the heat exchanger of an air-conditioner, because leakage of operating gas directly reduces the performance of machines. The acoustic emission (AE) method is a common way to detect leak of gas, however its application under the environment of mechanical vibration is restricted since most AE detectors are very sensitive to external vibration noise. In order to overcome this problem, we propose a method based on the mode analysis of the Lamb wave. In this method, the dominant Lamb mode and its frequency are found first, and then a proper band-pass filter is used to retain only this frequency component. In this way, we could improve the SNR (signal-to-noise ratio) of AE signal generated by gas leak from the tube even under vibratory environment.

음향 방사법 (AE)을 이용한 암석파괴와 관련된 미세균열원의 기구에 대한 연구 (A Study on Source Mechanisms of Micro-Fracture Related to Rock Failure Through Acoustio Emission Measurement)

  • 花崗巖 Beam 試料에 대하여 4-Point Bending 試驗이 진행되는 동안 試料 破壤에 隋伴된 AE 信號를 Calibrated PZT Transducer와 6-Channel Recording System으로 기록하여 分析함으로서 微細 龜裂源의 特性과 機構를 糾明하였다. 微細 龜裂의 體積은 수 um3에서 150.000um3의 넓은 범위를 보였으며, 引張形 龜裂이 斷形에 비하여 大體的으로 큰 것으로 밝혀 졌다. 龜裂源에서의 强度는 Mode I 荷重 下에서 기록된 것이 Mixed Mode 試驗에서 얻어진 것보다 그 平均値가 약 3배 정도 크게 나타났으나, 전체 AE 數에 있어어는 反對로 Mixed Mode 試驗에서 기록된 것의 약 25% 밖에 되지 않아서 같은 크기의 破壤面을 形成하는데 必要한 에너지 要求量이 일정함을 暗示하였다. 미세 龜裂面의 方位는 垂直 및 水平에 近接한 傾斜를 가지며 走向은 최종 試料의 破壤面과 일치할 뿐만 아니라 龜裂源이 시료 破壤面에 집중되게 分布하여서 微細 龜裂이 試料龜裂을 야기시키는 原因임을 알 수 있었다. 또한, Mode I 荷重 下에서는 引張形의 微細龜裂이 압도적으로 優勢하였고, Mixed Mode 荷重 下에서는 引張과 斷形의 微細龜裂이 약 3,6:1 比率로 分布하여서 荷重 條件이 微細 龜裂의 機構와 密接한 關係가 있음을 알 수 있었다.
