인삼이 토끼 음경해면체 평활근의 이완작용에 미치는 영향 (Effect of Ginseng on the Relaxation of the Penile Corpus Cavernosal Smooth Muscle in Rabbits)

  • The effect of ginseng on the reactivity of penile corpus cavernosal smooth muscle strips of rabbits was investigated to support the clinical application of ginseng for the treatment of erectile dysfunction. New Zealand white rabbits were randomly divided into two groups, normal diet group (n=9) and ginseng saponin diet group (n=5). Then, each group was fed normal diet and Korean red ginseng saponin diet (50 mg/kg/day) for 10 weeks. We measured concentration dependent relaxation of corporal smooth muscle to acetylcholine (10-8 M to 10-4M) in organ chamber. The degree of relaxation was expressed as percentage of maximal relaxation obtained by papaverine (10-4M). Dose dependent relaxation of corpus cavernosal smooth muscle to acetylcholine, at the concentration of 10-8 M to 10-4M by half log increment, was 4.06$\pm$0.00, 4.30$\pm$1.30, 5.32$\pm$0.68, 11.64$\pm$1.74, 16.24$\pm$1.61, 23.33$\pm$ 2.29, 26.45$\pm$2.25, 30.43$\pm$2.40 and 33.41 $\pm$2.48 (%), respectively in normal diet group and 9. 83$\pm$4.15, 20.60$\pm$4.62, 24.1815.12, 35.75$\pm$5.71, 43.35$\pm$6.11, 51.30$\pm$6.22, 56.33$\pm$6.22, 54.30$\pm$4.17 and 51.98$\pm$3.92 (Vc), respectively in ginseng group. These data suggest that ginseng enhances ondothelium-dependent acetylcholine-induced relaxation of penile corpus cal.ernosal smooth muscle in rabbits.

동력분무기용(動力噴霧機用) 삼분두(三噴頭)의 살포도(撒布度) 개선(改善)에 관(關)한 연구(硏究) (Study on the Improvement of Distribution Pattern in the Triple Nozzle System)

  • 동력분무기용(動力噴霧機用) 3분두(噴頭) 분공(噴孔)의 크기, 살포각도(撒布角度) 및 와실(渦室)의 간격을 변화(變化)시키면서 최대(最大) 분무유효거리(噴霧有效距離)의 구명(究明)과 살포도(撒布度)의 개선(改善)을 위(爲)한 분두배열(噴頭配列) 방법(方法)의 분석결과(分析結果)는 다음과 같다. 1. 분공(噴孔) 직경(直徑)이 커짐에 따라 분무량(噴霧量)은 증가(增加)하였고 1번구(番口)는 2차(次) 곡선(曲線)으로 II번구(番口), III번구(番口)는 1차(次) 함수관계(關係)를 나타냈다. 2. 최대(最大) 유효거리(有效距離)는 살포각도(撒布角度)가 $15^{\circ}$일때 최대(最大) 값을 나타냈고 분공(噴孔)의 크기가 3.0mm일때 약17m, 2.5mm 및 2.0mm 일때 각각 약 14m, 약 13m로 나타났다. 3. 살포도(撒布度)의 균등개선(均等改善)을 위(爲)한 분두배열(噴頭配列)(表 6참조(參照))은 I번구(番口)의 분공(噴孔)크기에 따라 다르지만 균등계수(均等係數)는 약 6%정도(程度) 개선(改善)시킬 수 있었다. 4. 살포거리(撒布距離) 6m의 최저(最低) 살포량(撒布量)을 II번구(番口)의 와실(渦室) 간격 조절(調節)로서 개선(改善)시킬 수 있었다.

이온 전리함 및 TLD 법을 이용한 Multi-Detector Computed Tomography의 흡수선량 및 체표면 선량 평가 (Evaluation of Absorbed Dose and Skin Dose with MDCT Using Ionization Chamber and TLD)

  • 최근 세기조절 방사선치료(Intensity Modulated Radiation Therapy, IMRT)와 같은 고 정밀 방사선 치료의 발전과 함께 두 경부 환자의 진단 및 치료 계획 그리고 추적관찰(follw-up)을 목적으로 한 CT 촬영 횟수가 크게 증가하고 있다. 이러한 CT 촬영의 증가와 MDCT와 같은 CT의 발전과 한 검사로 받는 피폭 선량이 상대적으로 다른 검사에 비하여 월등히 크기 때문에 환자 피폭 선량의 정확한 선량 평가가 요구된다. 본 연구에서는 두 경부용 물팬텀(cylindrical water phantom)을 자체 제작하여, 연필형 이온 전리함 및 30 cc 이온 전리함 그리고 LiF:Mg,Cu,P TL 분말을 사용한 열형광 선량 측정법(Thermoluminescent Dosimetry, TLD)을 이용하여 Multi Detector Computed Tomography, MDCT의 흡수 선량 및 체표면 선량을 비교 평가하였다. MDCT의 슬라이스 폭의 일정한 선량 균일성을 확인하기 위하여 콜리메이션 2 mm 단일 빔의 프로필을 1 mm 간격으로 80 mm 측정한 결과 빔의 폭이 12 mm이고 선량 분포는 80~100%로 빔의 출력은 +Y 방향으로 높게 나타났다. 물팬텀의 중심부에서 연필형 이온 전리함 및 30 cc 이온 전리함과 TLD의 흡수 선량은 각각 31.83 mGy, 33.58 mGy, 32.73 mGy로 TLD의 흡수 선량은 이온전리함으로 구한 흡수선량과 오차범위 내에서 일치하고 있음을 알 수 있었다. 체표면 10 mm 깊이에서의 TLD 선량은 33.92 mGy로 중심부보다 약 3.5% 높게 평가 되었다. 이러한 흡수선량은 두 경부 환자가 최초 진단을 위한 CT 촬영으로부터 치료계획 및 추적관찰을 목적으로 한 CT촬영까지 4회의 CT촬영을 할 경우, 이로 인한 피폭 선량이 약 14 cGy임을 알 수 있었다. 따라서 방사선치료를 위한 CT 촬영으로 인한 환자의 피폭이 적지않음을 확인하였고 가능한 한 피폭을 줄이려는 노력을 기울여야 할 것이다.

구미하수처리장 방류구에서의 소수력발전 설치 및 운영에 관한 연구 (Feasibility Study on the Construction of Small Hydro-Power Plants in Gumi Sewage Treatment Plant Discharge Point)

  • This study was conducted to investigate the possible installation of small hydro-power plant at the discharge point of Gumi sewage treatment plant (STP) using treated wastewater. Sufficient amount of water to transfer to electric power and the selection of proper location are two essential elements for the construction of small hydro-power facility. Preliminary analysis based on site visit and existing data in Gumi STP were made. Capacity of the small hydro-power plants and exact location were determined by geomorphological condition and flow duration characteristics. Flow duration characteristics and its duration curve were identified using monthly rainfall data in Gumi STP. Relevant facts of small hydro-power system in other STP were referred to adopt to Gumi STP situation. Flowrate of treated effluents and effective head between flow chamber and the location of hydraulic turbine in Gumi STP are found to be $3.70m^3$/sec and 3.5m respectively. Electric generation rate based on this feasibility study was estimated to be 86.3kW/h. Yearly electric generation rate was expected to be 932.4MMh. Proposed small hydro-power plant construction in Gumi STP is to be reasonable.

Reduction of Stress Caused by Drought and Salt in Rice (Oryza sativa L.) Crops through Applications of Selected Plant Extracts and the Physiological Response Mechanisms of Rice

  • In many areas of the world, salt damage and drought have had a negative impact on human survival due to a decrease in agricultural productivity. For instance, about 50% of agricultural land will be affected by salt damage by 2050. Biostimulants such as plant extracts can not only increase the nutrient utilization efficiency of plants, but also promote plant growth and increase resistance to abiotic or biotic stress. Therefore, the objective of this study was to determine how selected plant extracts might reduce levels of stress caused by drought and salt and to better understand the physiological response mechanisms of rice plants. In this study, we used Soybean leaves, Soybean stems and Allium tuberosum, Allium cepa, Hizikia fusiforme, and Gracilaria verrucosa extracts were used. These extracts had been used in previous studies and were found to be effective. The materials were dried in a dry oven at 50℃ for 5 days and ground using a blender. Each 50 g of materials was put in 1 L of distilled water, stirred for 24 hours, filtered using 4 layers of mirocloth, and then concentrated using a concentrator. Rice (cv. Hopumbyeo) seeds were immersed and germinated, and then sown in seedbeds filled with commercial soil. In drought experiments, three rice seedlings at 1 week after seeding was transplanted into 100 ml cups filled with commercial soils and grown until the 4-leaf stage. For this experiment, the soil weight in a cup was equalized, and water was allowed to become 100% saturated and then drained for 24 hours. Thereafter, plant extracts at 3% concentrations were applied to the soils. For NaCl treatments, rice plants at 17 days after seeding were treated with either 100 mM NaCl or plant extracts at 1%+ 100 mM NaCl combinations in the growth chamber. Leaf injury, relative water content, photosynthetic efficiency, and chlorophyll contents were measured at 3, 5, and 6 days after treatments. Shoot fresh weight of rice under drought conditions increased 28-37% in response to treatments of Soybean leaf, Soybean stem, Allium tuberosum, Allium cepa, Hizikia fusiforme, and Gracilaria verrucosa extracts at 3% when compared with control plants. Shoot fresh weight of rice subjected to 100 mM NaCl treatments also increased by 6-24% in response to Soybean leaf, Soybean stem, Allium tuberosum, Allium cepa, Hizikia fusiforme, and Gracilaria verrucosa extracts at 3% when compared with control plants. Compared to the control, rice plants treated with these six extracts and subjected to drought conditions had significantly higher relative water content, Fv/Fm, total chlorophyll and total carotenoids than control plants. With the exception of relative water contents, rice plants treated with the six extracts and subjected to salt stress (100 mM NaCl treatments) had significantly higher Fv/Fm, total chlorophyll and total carotenoids than control plants. However, the type of extract used did not produce significant difference in these parameters. Thus, all the plant extracts used in this study could mitigate drought and NaCl stresses and could also contribute substantially to sustainable crop production.

Studies on Permeation Enhancers for Ocular Peptide Delivery Systems: Pz-peptide as a Novel Enhancer of Ocular Epithelial Paracellular Permeability in the Pigmented Rabbit

  • The objective of this study was to determine whether Pz-peptide, an enhancer of hydrophilic solute permeability in the intestine, could elevate the paracellular permeability of the cornea and conjunctiva in the pigmented rabbit. The in vitro penetration of four hydrophilic solutes, mannitol (MW 182), fluorescein (MW 376), FD-4 (FITC-dextran, 4 KDa), and FD-10 (FITC-dextran, 10 KDa) across the pigmented rabbit cornea and conjunctiva was studied either in the presence or absence of 3 mM enhancers. Drug penetration was evaluated using the modified Ussing chamber. The conjunctiva was more permeable than the cornea to all four markers. EDTA and cytochalasin B showed higher effects on marker transport than Pz-peptide, but Pz-peptide elevated the corneal transport of mannitol, fluoresein, and FD-4 by 50%, 26%, and 50%, respectively, without affecting FD-10 transport. Possibly due to the leakier nature of the conjunctiva, 3 mM Pz-peptide elevated the transport of only FD-4 by about 45%, without affecting the transport of other markers. Furthermore, the transport of Pz-peptide itself across the cornea and conjunctiva increased with increasing concentration in the 1-5 mM range, suggesting that Pz-peptide enhanced its own permeability, possibly by elevating paracellular permeability. Effects of ion transport inhibitors on Pz-peptide transport were then investigated. PZ-peptide penetration was not changed by mucosal addition of $10\;{\mu}M$ amiloride or $10\;{\mu}M$ hexamethylene amiloride, inhibiting serosal $Na^{+}$ exit by $100\;{\mu}M$ ouabain, or replacing $Na^{+}$ with choline chloride in the mucosal side buffer. These results seggested that Pz-peptide enhanced the paracellular permeability of rabbit cornea and conjunctiva and further indicate that ion transporters were not involved in the Pz-peptide induced elevation of paracellular marker permeability.

미세버블을 이용한 바이오가스 탈황정제 연구 (Desulfurization of Biogas Using Micro Bubble in a Biogas Plant)

  • This paper describes the reduction of a hydrogen sulfide ($H_2S$) generated from a biogas plant. Micro bubble system is adopted to supply air into the water in the reaction chamber, which can increase the contact area of the supplied air to the reserving water. Two stage reaction chambers having two reaction rooms are designed and manufactured to enhance the reduction rate of a hydrogen sulfide. Sodium hydroxide (NaOH) is also considered to get rid of a hydrogen sulfide. Air volume rate to the water in a reaction chamber is maintained between 0.5 and $1.0m^3/min$. Throughout experimental measurement of the concentration of a hydrogen sulfide by changing the volume of supplied air into the water, reduction rate of a hydrogen sulfide increases as air volume increases. Adding sodium hydroxide to the water with the air supply can reduce effectively a hydrogen sulfide up to 99.5% from biogas. It is noted that a hydrogen sulfide generated by a biogas plant can reduce by supplying micro bubble air and sodium hydroxide effectively.

순천만 연안 생태계에서 토양의 이화학적 성질에 의한 이산화탄소 호흡 특성 (CO2 Respiration Characteristics with Physicochemical Properties of Soils at the Coastal Ecosystem in Suncheon Bay)

  • This paper was studied $CO_2$ respiration rate with physicochemical properties of soils at wetland, paddy field and forest in Nongju-ri, Haeryong-myeon, Suncheon city, Jeollanam-do. Soil temperature and $CO_2$ respiration rate were measured at the field, and soil pH, moisture and soil organic carbon were analyzed in laboratory. Field monitoring was conducted at 6 points (W3, W7, W13, W17, W23, W27) for wetland, 3 points (P1, P2, P3) for paddy field and 3 points (F1, F2, F3) for forest in 10 January 2009. $CO_2$ concentrations in chamber were measured 352~382 ppm for wetland, 364~382 ppm for paddy field and 379~390 ppm for forest, and the average values were 370 ppm, 370 ppm and 385 ppm, respectively. $CO_2$ respiration rates of soils were measured $-73{\sim}44\;mg/m^2/hr$ for wetland, $-74{\sim}24\;mg/m^2/hr$ for paddy field and $-55{\sim}106\;mg/m^2/hr$ for forest, and the average values were $-8\;mg/m^2/hr$, $-25\;mg/m^2/hr$ and $38\;mg/m^2/hr$. $CO_2$ was uptake from air to soil in wetland and paddy field, but it was emission from soil to air in forest. $CO_2$ respiration rate function in uptake condition increased exponential and linear as soil temperature and soil organic carbon. But, it in emission condition decreased linear as soil temperature and soil organic carbon. $CO_2$ respiration rate function in wetland decreased linear as soil moisture, but its in paddy and forest increased linear as soil moisture. $CO_2$ respiration rate function in all sites increased linear as soil pH, and increasing rate at forest was highest.

자동차 내장재의 화재위험성에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Fire Risk of Car Interior Materials)

  • 본 연구에서는 자동차 내장재에 적용되고 있는 플라스틱 합성물질의 화재위험성을 알아보기 위하여 콘칼로리미터를 이용한 열방출특성, 연기밀도시험기를 이용한 연기발생특성 및 독성지수시험기를 이용한 유 독성을 측정하였다. 자동차 내장재를 구성하고 있는 주요 부위별로 3종류씩 총 12개의 시편을 준비하여 실험하였다. 콘칼로리미터 실험결과, PVC sheet 및 PVC leather가 약 2초의 가장 빠른 착화시간을 보였으며, 12개의 시편 중 8개의 시편이 10초 이내의 착화시간을 나타냈다. 최대열방출률은 232~635$kW/m^2$ 정도로서 나일론과 PE로 구성된 플로우매트가 $635kW/m^2$의 가장 큰 최대열방출률을 보였다. Rubber로 구성된 보조매트는 최대열방출률은 가장 낮았지만 총열방출은 가장 큰 값을 보였다. 연기밀도시험기 실험 결과, rubber로 구성된 보조매트는 약 924의 가장 큰 연기밀도값을 보였으며, 초기연기발생량을 확인할수 있는 VOF4값은 PVC leather로 구성된 시트가 가장 큰 값을 나타냈다. 독성지수시험기 실험결과, 대부분의 시편에서 이산화탄소의 치사농도를 초과하였고, PVC를 포함하고 있는 시편에서 염화수소 및 브롬화수소의 검출수치가 비교적 높게 나타났으며, 치사농도를 초과하였다. 13가지 특정가스의 치사농도와 발생농도를 이용한 독성지수는 PVC sheet가 상대적으로 가장 높은 것으로 나타났으며, 모든 시편의 독성지수 1을 초과하는 결과를 보였다.

DC 마그네트론 스펏터를 이용한 ITO 박막의 실온 증착 및 특성 분석 (he deposition and analysis of ITO thin film by DC magnetron sputter at room temperature)

  • 최근 휴대용 통신기기와 스마트 디스플레이의 결합은 휴대가 용이하고 이동을 하면서 모든 작업을 할 수 있다. 이에 본 논문에서는 휴대용 통신기기에서 저가격의 높은 투명전극을 찾기 위해 여러 가지 ITO(Indium Tin Oxide) 박막에 대해 연구하였다. ITO 박막은 DC 마그네트론 스펏터를 사용하였으며 1 분위기압을 1mTorr 증가 간격으로, 2 바이어스 전압은 10V 간격으로 변화시켜 측정하였다. 두께와 굴절율은 일립소미터를 사용하였으며 막의 단면과 표면의 형상은 주사전자현미경을 사용하여 조사하였다. 분석 결과를 통해 바이어스 전압이 300V 이상일 경우에 명확한 증착이 나타났으며 추가로 전압이 증가함에 따라 전체적으로 증착률이 증가하였다. 330V 조건에서 증착률이 가장 높았으며 뚜렷한 결정립이 관찰되었다.
