Synthesis of 2-Thio-4-aminopyrimidine Derivatives as Anti-cancer Agent

  • The screening of the anti-cancer activity of the chemical library provided 2-thio-4-aminopyrimidine as the initial hit. The confirmation of structure and biological effect of hit was performed by synthesis and biological evaluation. The optimization of hit was performed by derivatization of substituents while keeping the core structure. The evaluation of growth inhibitory activity was carried out using SRB assay against 6 human cancer cell lines and human fibroblast. The growth inhibitory activity of compounds showed substituent dependency and more than 5 compounds showed complete growth inhibition of cancer cell lines at 10 ${\mu}M$ concentration. Chemical library screening followed by synthetic modification provided possibility that 2-thio-4-aminopyrimidine can be used as a new scaffold for the development of anti-cancer agent.

  • The PLL synthesizer is used often in communication system due to several merits, such as broad bandwidth, high accuracy and stability of frequency. But it is difficult to use in current digital communication systems that need frequency hopping at a high speed because of its long frequency hopping time. In this paper, we designed frequency synthesizer that generate the clock frequency randomly at a high speed using the DDS technology and is applied to the pattern generator systemfor for digital image.

Synthesis of WS$_2$ Solid Lubricant and Its Application to the Ball Bearing (WS$_2$ 고체윤활제의 합성 및 구름베어링 적용)

  • The processing conditions for the synthesis of platelet WS$_2$ lubricant powder through the solid-gas reaction were optimized. The tungsten and sulfur powders were sealed in a vacuum of 10$^{-6}$ torr, prior to heat-treating at 850$\circ$C for 8 days. The react~on product showed the well-developed platelet WS$_2$ powder with an average size of 3.8 $\mu$m. The synthesized WS$_2$ powder was coated on the commercial deep grooved ball bearing (No. 6203) to examine the effects of WS$_2$ coating layer on the noise and endurance of the ball bearing. The level of noise obtained from WS$_2$ coated-ball bearing was higher (56 dB) than the value occurred in the case of greece (37 dB). The life-time of the ball-bearing assembled after coating WS$_2$ powder increased 50 times compared to the non-coated bali-bearing.

  • In this paper, we propose a new hardware architecture for integer transform, quantizer operation of a new video coding standard H.264/JVT. We describe the algorithm to derive hardware architecture emphasizing the importance of area for low cost and low power consumption. The proposed architecture has been verified by PCI-interfaced emulation board using APEX-II Altera FPGA and also by ASIC synthesis using Samsung 0.18 ${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ CMOS cell library. The ASIC synthesis result shows that the proposed hardware can operate at 100 MHz, processing more than 1, 300 QCIF video frames per second. The hardware is going to be used as a core module when implementing a complete H.264 video encoder/decoder ASIC for real-time multimedia application.

  • In this paper, a new technique which models the joints characteristics through reduction of DOFs of structures with joints using component mode synthesis (CMS) method is proposed. Bolt joints are modeled by mass-spring systems. Also generalized mass and stiffness matrices for this models are introduced. Because bolt joints have influence on eigenvalues of structures, exact eigenvalues from modal test are used. The results show that the behaviors of structures with bolt joints depend to a large extent on the translational DOFs and not on rotational DOFs of mass and stiffness matrices of bolts. Furthermore it is confirmed that lumped mass-spring systems as models of bolt joints are effective models considering the facts that joint characteristics converged to constant values in some iterations and eignevalues from proposed method are in good agreement with ones from modal test.

High-Robust Relaxation Oscillator with Frequency Synthesis Feature for FM-UWB Transmitters

  • A CMOS relaxation oscillator, with high robustness over process, voltage and temperature (PVT) variations, is designed in $0.18{\mu}m$ CMOS. The proposed oscillator, consisting of full-differential charge-discharge timing circuit and switched-capacitor based voltage-to-current conversion, could be expanded to a simple open-loop frequency synthesizer (FS) with output frequency digitally tuned. Experimental results show that the proposed oscillator conducts subcarrier generation for frequency-modulated ultra-wideband (FM-UWB) transmitters with triangular amplitude distortion less than 1%, and achieves frequency deviation less than 8% under PVT and phase noise of -112 dBc/Hz at 1 MHz offset frequency. Under oscillation frequency of 10.5 MHz, the presented design has the relative FS error less than 2% for subcarrier generation and the power dissipation of 0.6 mW from a 1.8 V supply.

  • A high performance liquid chromatographic procedure is described for the direct determination of the picomole amount of palmitoyl-Coenzyme A and stearoyl-Coenzyme A, using a stainless steel column packed with C-18 derivatized porous silica ($5{\mu}m$), an isocratic elution with a mixture of 33 mM $KH_2PO_4$/acetonitrile as a mobile phase and a UV detector. The long-chain acyl-Coenzyme A esters were determined in incubated microsomal fractions of a bovine liver to demonstrate the utility of this method for monitoring acyl-CoA synthesis in biological samples. The reaction rate of palmitate was higher than that of stearate. After a 60 minute incubation period, the generated amount of palmitoyl-Coenzyme A and stearoyl-Coenzyme A were approximately 70 and 20 n mol/mg micresomal protein, respectively. The advantage of this method are in that no decomposition of the CoA esters is involved, while the constituent molecular species is detected.

  • A synthesis process for PZT powder using $NH_{3}$ gas as a precipitator in a bubble column reactor was experimentally successful in develope a production process of piezoelectric ceramic PZT powder. Also as a reaction by coprecipitation, the crystalized PZT ceramic powder at the condition of over pH 9 could be attained. The time needed for reaction on the condition of $NH_{3}$ gas flow rate = 0.5 1/min, Ar gas flow rate = 2.0 1/min. Feed flow rate = 2.33 ml/sec was less than five minutes, so it could synthesize PZT powder for such a few moments. And the synthesized PZT powder was $0.17{\mu}m$ in diameter on an average.

  • The thesis presents a dual audio decoder which can decode both AC-3 and MPEG-2 bitstream. The MPEG-2 synthesis processi s optimized via FFT to establish the common data path with AC-'3s. A dual audio decoder consists of a DSP core which performs the control-intensive part of each algorithm and a common synthesis filter which perfomrs the computation-intensive part. All the components of the dual audio decoder have been described in VHDL and simulated with a SYNOPSYS tool. The software modeling of the DSP core was used for functional validation. After being synthesized using 0.6 .mu.m-3ML technology standard cell, the dual audio decoder was simulated at gate-level with a COMPASS tool for hardware validation.
