  • In this paper we consider all orientation-preserving ${\mathbb{Z}}_4$-actions on 3-dimensional handlebodies $V_g$ of genus g > 0. We study the graph of groups (${\Gamma}(v)$, G(v)), which determines a handlebody orbifold $V({\Gamma}(v),G(v)){\simeq}V_g/{\mathbb{Z}}_4$. This algebraic characterization is used to enumerate the total number of ${\mathbb{Z}}_4$ group actions on such handlebodies, up to equivalence.

  • In this paper we consider all orientation-preserving ${\mathbb{Z}}_{p^2}$-actions on 3-dimensional handlebodies $V_g$ of genus g > 0 for p an odd prime. To do so, we examine particular graphs of groups (${\Gamma}(v)$, G(v)) in canonical form for some 5-tuple v = (r, s, t, m, n) with r + s + t + m > 0. These graphs of groups correspond to the handlebody orbifolds V (${\Gamma}(v)$, G(v)) that are homeomorphic to the quotient spaces $V_g/{\mathbb{Z}}_{p^2}$ of genus less than or equal to g. This algebraic characterization is used to enumerate the total number of ${\mathbb{Z}}_{p^2}$-actions on such handlebodies, up to equivalence.

  • We define the concept of a generator for a ${\mathbb{Z}}^k$-action T and show that T is expansive if and only it has a generator. Further, we prove several properties of a ${\mathbb{Z}}^k$-action including that the least upper bound of the set of expansive constants is not an expansive constant.

  • We study free actions of finite groups on 3-dimensional nil-manifolds with the first homology ${\mathbb{Z}}^2{\oplus}{\mathbb{Z}}_p$. By the works of Bieberbach and Waldhausen, this classification problem is reduced to classifying all normal nilpotent subgroups of almost Bieberbach groups of finite index, up to affine conjugacy.

  • We study free actions of finite nonabelian groups on 3-dimensional nilmanifolds with the first homology ${\mathbb{Z}}^2{\bigoplus}{\mathbb{Z}}_2$ which yield an orbit manifold reversing fiber orientation, up to topological conjugacy. We show that those nonabelian groups are $D_4$(the dihedral group), $Q_8$(the quaternion group), and $C_8.C_4$(the $1^{st}$ non-split extension by $C_8$ of $C_4$ acting via $C_4/C_2=C_2$).

  • Let R be a ring with identity, X the set of all nonzero, nonunits of R and G the group of all units of R. First, we investigate some connected conditions of the zero-divisor graph $\Gamma(R)$ of a noncommutative ring R as follows: (1) if $\Gamma(R)$ has no sources and no sinks, then $\Gamma(R)$ is connected and diameter of $\Gamma(R)$, denoted by diam($\Gamma(R)$) (resp. girth of $\Gamma(R)$, denoted by g($\Gamma(R)$)) is equal to or less than 3; (2) if X is a union of finite number of orbits under the left (resp. right) regular action on X by G, then $\Gamma(R)$ is connected and diam($\Gamma(R)$) (resp. g($\Gamma(R)$)) is equal to or less than 3, in addition, if R is local, then there is a vertex of $\Gamma(R)$ which is adjacent to every other vertices in $\Gamma(R)$; (3) if R is unit-regular, then $\Gamma(R)$ is connected and diam($\Gamma(R)$) (resp. g($\Gamma(R)$)) is equal to or less than 3. Next, we investigate the graph automorphisms group of $\Gamma(Mat_2(\mathbb{Z}_p))$ where $Mat_2(\mathbb{Z}_p)$ is the ring of 2 by 2 matrices over the galois field $\mathbb{Z}_p$ (p is any prime).

  • For a Borel function ${\psi}:\mathbb{R}{\times}\mathbb{R}{\rightarrow}\mathbb{R}$ satisfying the functional equation $\psi$ (s + t, u + v) + $\psi$(s - t, u - v) = $2\psi$(s, u) + $2\psi$(t, v), we show that it satisfies the functional equation $$\psi$$(s, t) = s(s - t)$$\psi$$(1, 0) + $$st\psi$$(1, 1) + t(t - s)$$\psi$$(0, 1). Using this, we prove the stability of the functional equation f(ax + ay, bz + bw) + f(ax - ay, bz - bw) = 2abf(x, z) + 2abf(y,w) in Banach modules over a unital $C^*$-algebra.
