Numerical Analysis of High-Reynolds-Number Flow around Axisymmetric Body (축대칭체 주위 고 레이놀즈수 유동에 대한 수치해석)

  • In this paper, numerical analysis based on the RANS equation and the Realizable ${\kappa}-{\varepsilon}$ turbulence model is carried out for flows around an axisymmetric body at three Reynolds numbers($1.22{\times}10^7$, $1.0{\times}10^8$, $1.5{\times}10^8$) and the numerical results are compared with experiments data. Computed velocity distributions agree well with experiments as the Reynolds number increases. Pressure distributions agree well with the results of the potential flow except the tail region but differ from experiments for the parallel middle body as well as tail region. Pressure gradients show a good agreement with those of potential flow and experiment except the tail region. Friction coefficients show that the numerical results generally are lower than the experimental results estimated from the measured velocity. The difference of friction coefficients between the calculation and the experiment increases with growing of a boundary layer.

Analysis of Hydraulic effects on Piers and Transverse Overflow Type Structures in Urban Stream (도시하천의 교각 및 횡단 월류형 구조물에 의한 수리영향 분석)

  • Recently, stream flow analysis has been accomplished by one or two dimensional equations and was applied by simple momentum equations and fixed energy conservations which contain many condition limits. In this study, FLOW-3D using CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) was applied to stream flow analysis which can solve three dimensional RANS (Reynolds Averaged Navier-Stokes Equation) control equation to find out physical behaviors and the effect of hydraulic structures. Numerical simulation accomplished those results was compared by using turbulence models such as ${\kappa}-{\varepsilon}$, RNG (Renormalized Group) ${\kappa}-{\varepsilon}$ and LES (Large Eddy Simulation). Numerical analysis results have been illustrated by the turbulence energy effects, velocity of flow, water level pressure and eddy flows around the piers and transverse overflow type structures. These results will be able to used by basis data that catch hold of effects on long-term bed elevation changes, sediment accumulations, scours and water aggravations by removal of obsolete transverse over flow type structures in urban stream.

  • Recently, the frequency of unexpecting heavy rains has been increased due to abnormal climate and extreme rainfall. There was a limit to analyze 1D or 2D stream flow that was applied simple momentum equation and fixed energy conservation. Therefore, hydrodynamics flow analysis in rivers has been needed 3D numerical analysis for correct stream flow interpretation. In this study, CFD model on FLOW-3D was applied to stream flow analysis, which solves three dimenson RANS(Reynolds Averaged Navier-Stokes Equation) control equation to find out physical behavior and the effect of hydraulic structures. Numerical simulation accomplished those results was compared by using turbulence models such as ${\kappa}-{\varepsilon}$, RNG ${\kappa}-{\varepsilon}$ and LES. Those numerical analysis results have been illustrated by the turbulence energy effects, velocity of flow distributions, water level pressure distributions and eddy flows around the piers at Jangwall bridge in urbarn stream.

A Study on the Characteristics of the Flow around a Sunken Vessel (침선어초 주위의 유동특성에 관한 연구)

  • This paper deals with the numerical and experimental study on the characteristics of the flow around a sunken vessel. Numerical simulation of the two dimensional steady flow on the midship section are carried out by the CFD code which is developed by using finite volume method and which includes the standard $textsc{k}$-$\varepsilon$ model with standard wall function. A experimental study is also carried out for the 1/100 scale model in circulating water channel. A velocity fields around the ship are measuremed by using particle image velocimetry technique. And the fluid forces acting on the ship hull by uniform current are measured by two axis load cell. The computed and measured velocity fields on the midship section are compared with each other in the view point of velocity dstribution and reattachement length, which shows good agreement in quality. The drag force on the vessel also showed the same tendency in both computational and experimental results. However, the quantitative disagreements are shown due to the three dimensional effect of the experiment. The result are used to determine the functional efficiency and stability of the vessel as a artificial reef.

  • 본 연구에서는 사석경사제의 전면부에 불투과성 수중방파제를 설치하여, 불규칙파의 반사에 대한 수치모의와 수리모형실험을 수행하였다. 수치해석 모형에는 Reynolds Averaged Navier-stokes (RANS) 방정식을 지배방정식으로 사용하였고, 난류해석을 위하여 $\kappa-\varepsilon$ 방정식을 사용하였다. 자유수면변위의 정확한 예측을 위하여 VOF 기법을 적용하였다. 수리모형실험은 한양대학교 수리실험실의 조파수로에서 수행되었다. 본 연구에서는 입사파랑으로 불규칙파를 조파하였으며, Bretsch neider-Mistuyasu 스펙트럼을 목표스펙트럼으로 하여 재현하였다. 반사율의 산정에서 입사파와 반사파를 분리하기 위하여 수치모형실험에서는 3점법을 사용하였고, 수리모형실험에서는 2점법을 사용하였다. 수치모의를 통하여 예측된 반사율과 수리모형실험에서 관측한 결과는 서로 잘 일치하였다.

  • The steady non-reacted compressible flow field in a symmetric micro-thruster, which is used for the accurate attitude control of a satellite, is analyzed varying the nozzle pressure ratio (NPR) to investigate the plume characteristics. The nozzle throat diameter is 0.06 inch and the area ratio is 56. The recirculation region is found just behind the normal shock at the several NPRs due to the locally adverse pressure gradient along the nozzle centerline when the environmental pressure is atmospheric. This phenomenon, the cause of flow loss, is similar to the flow behind a blunt body. As NPR increases the location of Mach disk, characteristics of the normal shock, moves downstream and its strength increases. The Mach number distribution appears in a wave-type patter after the normal shock because oblique shocks are reflected on the shock boundaries especially when NPRs are very high.

  • To analyze the flow through open-channel constrictions using $\kappa$-$\varepsilon$ turbulence mode, a numerical model is developed. The simulated results agree well with existing experimental data which attributes to the adequate input of turbulent eddy-viscosity by turbulence model. A stream function and velocity distributions enable the analysis of flow characteristics at the downstream of constriction. Turbulent eddy viscosities over channel are spatially varied with stream pattern. For the evaluation of rapidly varied flow, the eddy-viscosity input by turbulence model is required instead of the empirical effective viscosity to solve a shallow water equation.

  • 본 연구에서는 SWASH(Simulating WAves till SHore) 모형의 염분분포 해석의 정확성을 평가하기 위해 Goswami et al.(2007)의 모형실험을 재현하였다. SWASH모형은 Delft 대학에서 개발된 비정수압수치모형으로 연직방향으로 층(layer)을 나누어 자유수면변위를 정확하게 예측하고 표준 ${\kappa}-{\varepsilon}$ 난류모델을 이용해 염분, 온도 및 침전물 등의 난류확산을 계산한다. 우선 Goswami et al.(2007)의 모형실험 중 정상상태의 모형실험을 이용해 층수에 따른 수치모형의 정확도를 평가하였다. SWASH 모형의 층수를 늘리며 수치모의를 수행한 결과, 층수가 늘어날수록 종, 횡 방향의 염분농도 분포가 정확하게 나타나는 것을 확인하였다. 추가로 SWASH 수치모형을 이용해 염수침투 및 후퇴 상태의 모형실험도 수치모의하였다. 염수의 공급에 따라 시간에 따른 염분농도 분포가 변화하는 것을 확인하였다. 또한 연직방향의 층수가 많은 경우 모형실험의 결과와 비교적 잘 일치하는 것을 확인할 수 있다. 따라서 연직방향의 층수를 늘려감에 따라 수심방향으로 더 정밀한 염분분포 해석이 가능하다는 것을 알 수 있다. 그러나 연직방향으로 많은 층을 나눈 경우 계산시간이 증가하기 때문에 수심이 작거나 연직방향의 염분농도 분포가 중요하지 않은 경우라면 적절한 층수(5~10 layer)를 고려해 수치모의를 수행하는 것이 시간과 비용측면에서 더욱 경제적이라고 할 수 있다.

  • 트렌치 수로에서 동수압을 고려한 자유수면 흐름을 해석하고 난류 모형의 적용성을 제시하였다. 본 연구에 사용된 지배방정식으로 비정상 상태의 비압축성 유체에 대한 연속방정식과 비점성 Navier-Stokes 방정식을 사용하였다. 난류완결문제를 해결하기 위해서 $\kappa-\varepsilon$방정식을 사용하여서 난류 와점성을 구할 수 있다. 자유수면과 동수압을 고려하기 위하여 3단계로 나누어서 해석하였다. 제 1단계에서는 운동량방정식을 연직방향에 대해 음해적으로 차분하였다. 제2단계에서는 유속과 동수압 보정항으로 이루어진 식을 연속방정식에 대입하여 타원형 방정식인 동수압-포와송 방정식을 해석하여 얻어지는 유속은 질량보존법칙을 만족하게 된다. 마지막으로 자유수면과 최종유속을 보정 및 계산하였다. 본 연구에서 제시한 수치모형을 검증하기 위해서, 트렌치 수로에서 난류의 흐름에 변화를 고려하기 위해 수치모의를 하였다. 전반적으로 수치모의에 의한 결과와 실험 자료가 일치하는 경향을 보였다.

A Three-Dimensional Numerical Model of Circulation and Heat Transport in Coastal Region (연안 해수유동 및 온배수 확산에 관한 3차원 수치모형)

  • This paper is concerned with the development of a three-dimensional numerical model for coastal circulation and heat transport with improved prediction ability. The model uses fully nonlinear, time-dependent three-dimensional, $\sigma$-transformed equations of motion and equation of heat transport The model was verified with experimental data for wind-driven current in a one-dimensional channel and thermal jets flowing into stagnant waters and applied for unsteady flow induced by tide and thermal jets in coastal waters around Kori nuclear power plant. The model results were in good agreements with experimental data sets for wind-driven current and thermal jet, and field observed data sets in coastal waters. This study has shown that the $\kappa$-$\varepsilon$ turbulence model is applicable to various coastal conditions without any modification of turbulence constants.
