MgO protection layer in ac PDP prevents the dielectric layer from sputtering of ion in discharge plasma in addition to the contribution to the memory function and also have the additional important roll in lowering the firing Voltage due to a large secondary electron emission yield(${\gamma}$). The methode of Sputtering are easy to apply on mass production and to enlarge the size of the panel and are known to have the superior Adhesion and Uniformity of thin film. MgO protection layer of $1000{\AA}$ on dielectric layer by Reactive R.F magnetron sputtering is formed. Discharge characteristics have done with the formation of protection layer.
Background: Telbivudine is a nucleoside analogue used for the treatment of chronic hepatitis B, but it often develops mitochondrial toxicity leading to symptomatic myopathy. In this study, three patients with telbivudine induced myopathy were enrolled in order to investigate the nature and pathogenesis of mitochondrial toxicity caused by long-term use of telbivudine. Methods: Clinical features, laboratory findings, muscle pathology, and quantitation of mitochondrial DNA were studied in three patients. Results: Patients presented with progressive muscle weakness with high serum creatine kinase levels. Light microscopic findings of muscle pathology showed ragged red fibers that reacted strongly with succinate dehydrogenase stain, but negative for cytochrome c oxidase activities. Electron microscopy revealed abnormal mitochondrial accumulation with rod shaped inclusions. The quantitative peroxidase chain reaction showed a depletion of mitochondrial DNA in skeletal muscle of the patients. Conclusions: Nucleoside analogues including telbivudine are potent inhibitors of viral DNA polymerases. However, they are not specific for viral DNA and can disturb mitochondrial replication at the same time. All nucleotide analogues should be used with close clinical observation in order to avoid development of mitochondrial myopathy.
The evaluation and analysis of diffusivity of lithium for coarsening and coarsening kinetics of ${\delta}^{\prime}$ precipitate in Al-Li-Cu-Mg-Zr alloy aged at $170^{\circ}C$ have been investigated by transmission electron microscopy. With ageing time, ${\delta}^{\prime}$ precipitate coaesened to followed $\bar{\gamma}{\propto}t^{1/3}$ and coarsening kinetics was found to be obeyed to the Lifshitz-Slyozov-Wagner(LSW) theory and diffusivity of lithium for coarsening of ${\delta}^{\prime}$ precipitate in Al-Li-Cu-Mg-Zr alloy was obtained to be $5.85{\times}10^{-17}{\sim}1.53{\times}10^{-16}$ by experimental coarsening rate constant and various coarsening kinetic theory. Diffusivity of lithium measured by using various model but MLSW and Tsumuraya (VI) et al. model in Al-Li-Cu-Mg-Zr alloy is similar to that calculated by the Costas's diffusivity equation. It was, therefore, suggested that additing to the Cu, Mg and Zr element in Al-Li system have no great effect on diiffusivity of lithium for coarsening of ${\delta}^{\prime}$ This suggest that in matrix.
In present work, the anti-bacterial effect of silver/activated carbon (Ag/C) composites prepared by the ${\gamma}$-irradiation of $AgNO_3$ solution on Escherichia coli (E. coli) has been studied. Characteristics of the Ag/C composites were identified by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD) and atomic absorption spectroscopy (AAS). The inhibitory concentration of E. coli was found to be 0.387 ppm and the sterilizing concentration for the tested organism was 1.017 ppm. These results support the evidence that Ag/C composites have strong antibacterial activity to E. coli.
The evaluation of radioactivated components of heavy-ion accelerator facilities affects the safety of radiation management and the exposure dose for workers. and this is an important issue when predicting the disposal cost of waste during maintenance and dismantling of accelerator facilities. In this study, the FLUKA code was used to simulate the proton treatment device nozzle and classify the radio-nuclides and total radioactivity generated by each component over a short period of time. The source term was evaluated using NIST reference beam data, and the neutron flux generated for each component was calculated using the evaluated beam data. Radioactive isotopes caused by generated neutrons were compared and evaluated using nuclide information from the International Radiation Protection Association and the Korea Radioisotope association. Most of the nuclides produced form of beta rays and electron capture, and short-lived nuclides dominated. However, In the case of 54Mn, which is a radioactive product of iron, the effect of gamma rays should be considered. In the case of tritium generated from a material with a low atomic number, it is considered that handling care should be taken due to its long half-life.
A multiresidue, simple and rapid isolation technique known as matrix-solid phase dispersoin (MSPD) for the extraction and quantitative gas chromatographic/electron capture detection (GC/ECD) determination of 14 organochlorinated pesticides($\alpha$-BHC, ($\beta$-BHC, ($\gamma$-BHC, aldrin, dieldrin, endrin, heptachlor, ($\alpha$-endosulfan, ($\beta$-endosulfan, endosulfan sulfate, p,p'-DDE, o,p'-DDD, p,p'-DDD, p,p'-DDT) from meat fats. The 14 pesticide were fortified into meat fat(0.5g) and blend with 2g $C_{18}$, $C_{18}$meat fat matrix blend and 2g activated florisil comprise an extraction column from which the pesticides are eluted by adding 8ml acetonitrile. Then 2${\mu}\ell$ of the eluate is analyzed by GC/ECD. Unfortified blank controls are tested similarly. The eluate contained all the pesticide analytes and was free of interfering coextractants. Recovery rate(31.3-500ng/g) were ranged from 80$\pm$4% to 97$\pm$4%. Any organochlorinated pesticides were not detected in 120 samples of beef and pork collected from slaughter houses in Kyeonggi province.

In order to study the quarantine and sanitization methods for dried red pepper, comparative effects of commercial fumigation (methyl bromide/MeBr, $phosphine gas/PH_{3}$ and gamma irradiation (5, 10 kGy) were investigated in terms of its physicochemical properties. There were no noticeable chances in pH and soluble solids among the untreated control, irradiated and fumigated samples soon after treatments, but some decrease was found in stored samples (especially soluble solid in fumigated samples) for 8 months under room temperature. Total sugar content was influenced by storage time rather than both treatments. Immediately after treatments, reducing sugar content was significantly reduced in the samples including pericarp when exposed to fumigants (p<0.05), while an apparent decrease was observed in the stored samples including seeds with negligible differences among treatment groups. The electron donating ability (EDA) of the extracts was high in the order of pericarp, whole pepper, powdered pepper and seeds, which was reduced during storage for 8 months particularly in the samples containing seeds. The EDA of irradiated samples during storage was equal to that of the control sample, whereas that of fumigated samples was relatively low (p<0.05).

Martensitic stainless steel STS 431 has been nitrided by active screen ion nitriding under the various temperature and time. The thickness of diffusion layer, case depth, hardness and composition phases were investigated using field emission scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM), micro-Vickers hardness tester, X-ray diffraction (XRD) and glow discharge spectroscopy (GDS). It was observed that the thickness of diffusion layer depends strongly on the treatment temperature and time. A sample, which was nitrided at $450^{\circ}C$ for 8hours, was a maximum hardness of Hv0.01 1558 and nitride layer of $70{\mu}m$. As shown in XRD patterns, $\varepsilon(Fe_{2-3}N)$ and expanded martensite (${\alpha}_N$) phases which was saturated with nitrogen solid solution were in the nitrided layer treated at $450^{\circ}C$ for 2 hours. Composition phases of $\varepsilon$$(Fe_{2-3}N)$ and ${\gamma}'$ ($Fe_4N$) were observed after active screen nitriding at $450^{\circ}C$ for 8 hours.
Photostimulated luminescence (PSL), thermoluminescence (TL), electron spin resonance (ESR), and direct epiflourescent filter technique/aerobic plate count (DEFT/APC) were applied to detect dried green, black, and oolong teas irradiated between 0-10 kGy. Teas irradiated at 2.5 kGy and higher showed over 5000 photon counts/60 sec, while non-irradiated teas yielded 650-1000 photon counts/60 sec. TL glow curves for minerals separated from teas were detected at about $300^{\circ}C$ with low intensity in non-irradiated samples, whereas around $150^{\circ}C$ with high intensity in all irradiated samples. Ratio of $TL_1/TL_2$ based on re-irradiation step, showing lower than 0.1 and higher than 1.44 for non-irradiated and irradiated samples, respectively, enhanced reliability of TL results. ESR measurements for irradiated teas showed signals specific to irradiation. Log DEFT/APC ratio increased with irradiation dose; this result could be applied to identify irradiated tea samples.
