  • By using a complete rate constant($k_e$) which treats a solvent (water) as a reactant, and a conventional rate constant($k_c$), which ignores the solvent in describing the rate, the parameters ${\Delta}V^{\neq}_s,\;{\Delta}H^{\neq}_s\;and\;{\Delta}S^{\neq}_s$ were introduced. These quantities represent the volume change, the enthalpy change, and the entropy change accompanying the electrostriction which occurs when solvent molecules condense on the activated complex. The authors measured the rates of the solvolysis of benzoyl chloride in water-acetone mixtures at $15^{\circ}$ to $30^{\circ}C$ and 1 bar to 2500 bars. Applying the authors' theory to the experimental results, the parameters, ${\Delta}V^{\neq}_s,\;{\Delta}H^{\neq}_s\;and\;{\Delta}S^{\neq}_s$ were evaluated, and it was found that they are all negative, indicating that water dipoles condense on the activated complex. They also proposed the following equations: ${\Delta}H^{\neq}_c\;=\;{\Delta}H^{\neq}_e\;+\;{\Delta}H^{\neq}_s\;and\; {\Delta}S^{\neq}_c\;=\;{\Delta}S^{\neq}_e\;+{\Delta}S^{\neq}_s\;,\;where\;{\Delta}H^{\neq}_c\;and\;{\Delta}H^{\neq}_c\;and\;{\Delta}S^{\neq}_s $are the activation enthalpy change and the activation entropy change for the conventional reaction rate, respectively, and ${\Delta}H^{\neq}_e$ and ${\Delta}S^{\neq}_e$ are the corresponding quantities for the complete reaction rate. The authors proposed that for the $SN_1$ type, all the quantities, ${\Delta}V^{\neq}_s,\;{\Delta}S^{\neq}_s\;,{\Delta}H^{\neq}_s\;and\;{\Delta}S^{\neq}_s$ are comparatively large, and for the $SN_2$ type, these quantities are smaller than for the $SN_1$ type, and occasionally the case ${\Delta}S^{\neq}_e$ < 0 occurs. Using these criteria, the authors concluded that at high temperature, high pressure and for a high water content solvent, the SN_1$ type mechanism predominates whereas in the reversed case the $SN_2$M type predominates.

  • The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effects of commercial home-tooth bleaching agents on the color of tooth. Twenty five sound extracted teeth were randomly divided into five groups. The color differences between before and after treatment with five types of tooth bleaching agents (7.5% hydrogen peroxide Nite White $Excel^{(R)}$, 10% carbamide peroxide Nite White $Excel^{(R)}$, 16% carbamide peroxide Nite White $Excel^{(R)}$, 10% carbamide peroxide Insta-BriteTM, 20% carbamide peroxide Insta-$Brite^{TM}$) were evaluated. The results were as follows: 1. By 2 week home tooth bleaching agent applications, the values ($L^*$) of bovine teeth increased as high as 4.38 $\sim$ 8.80 when comparing to those of the samples before treatment, and the color difference (${\Delta}E^*$) showed as high as 10.16 $\sim$ 15.04. 2. 16% carbamide peroxide Nite White Excel induced significantly greater ${\Delta}L^*$ than other test edgroups except for 7.5% hydrogen peroxide Day White Excel, and significantly greater ${\Delta}E^*$ than other tested groups by 2 week bleaching agent treatments (p<0.01). 3. 16% carbamide peroxide Nite White Excel(${\Delta}L^*$=8.80, ${\Delta}E^*$=15.04) induced significantly greater ${\Delta}L^*$ and ${\Delta}E^*$ than 10% carbamide peroxide Nite White Excel(${\Delta}L^*$=5.01, ${\Delta}E^*$=10.16)(p<0.01), but significant difference between 10% carbamide peroxide Insta-Brite(${\Delta}L^*$=4.38, ${\Delta}E^*$=10.51) and 20% carbamide peroxide Insta-Brite(${\Delta}L^*$=5.63, ${\Delta}E^*$=11.23) was not shown in ${\Delta}L^*$ and ${\Delta}E^*$(p>0.01). 4. 16% carbamide peroxide Nite White Excel(${\Delta}L^*$=8.80, ${\Delta}E^*$=15.04) which were applied in night time induced significantly greater ${\Delta}L^*$ and ${\Delta}E^*$ than 7.5% hydrogen peroxide Day White Excel(${\Delta}L^*$=8.47, ${\Delta}E^*$=12.75) which were applied in day time. Conclusions: These results demonstrate that all the commercial home-tooth bleaching agents have appreciable bleaching effect on teeth, and the effects of home-tooth bleaching agents which are used during night time are affected by content of carbamide peroxide. Especially the whitening effect of home tooth bleaching agents that are used through night time is greater than that of short time-applying tooth bleaching agent.

  • In this paper, we define the sequence spaces: $[V,{\lambda},f,p]_0({\Delta}^r,E,u),\;[V,{\lambda},f,p]_1({\Delta}^r,E,u),\;[V,{\lambda},f,p]_{\infty}({\Delta}^r,E,u),\;S_{\lambda}({\Delta}^r,E,u),\;and\;S_{{\lambda}0}({\Delta}^r,E,u)$, where E is any Banach space, and u = ($u_k$) be any sequence such that $u_k\;{\neq}\;0$ for any k , examine them and give various properties and inclusion relations on these spaces. We also show that the space $S_{\lambda}({\Delta}^r, E, u)$ may be represented as a $[V,{\lambda}, f, p]_1({\Delta}^r, E, u)$ space. These are generalizations of those defined and studied by M. Et., Y. Altin and H. Altinok [7].

  • Let x : $M^{n}$ .rarw. $E^{m}$ be an isometric immersion of a manifold $M^{n}$ into the Euclidean space $E^{m}$ and .DELTA. the Laplacian of $M^{n}$ defined by -div.omicron.grad. The family of such immersions satisfying the condition .DELTA.x = .lambda.x, .lambda..mem.R, is characterized by a well known result ot Takahashi (8]): they are either minimal in $E^{m}$ or minimal in some Euclidean hypersphere. As a generalization of Takahashi's result, many authors ([3,6,7]) studied the hypersurfaces $M^{n}$ in $E^{n+1}$ satisfying .DELTA.x = Ax + b, where A is a square matrix and b is a vector in $E^{n+1}$, and they proved independently that such hypersurfaces are either minimal in $E^{n+1}$ or hyperspheres or spherical cylinders. Since .DELTA.x = -nH, the submanifolds mentioned above satisfy .DELTA.H = .lambda.H or .DELTA.H = AH, where H is the mean curvature vector field of M. And the family of hypersurfaces satisfying .DELTA.H = .lambda.H was explored for some cases in [4]. In this paper, we classify space curves x : R .rarw. $E^{3}$ satisfying .DELTA.x = Ax + b or .DELTA.H = AH, and find conditions for such curves to be equivalent.alent.alent.

  • In this paper we composed the dual fuzzy rules using each region of specific points and $e-{\Delta}e$ phase plane In order to make dual fuzzy rule base. We composed the fuzzy control rules which can decrease rise time, delay time, maximum overshoot than basic fuzzy control rules. proposed method is alternately use at specific points of $e-{\Delta}e$ phase plane with two fuzzy control rules that is one control rule occruing the steady state error in transient region and another fuzzy control rule use to decrease the steady state error and rapidly converge at the convergence region. Also, two fuzzy control rules in the $e-{\Delta}e$ phase plane decide the change time according to response characteristics of plants. In order to confirm thef proposed algorithm. As the results of experiments through the hydraulic servo motor control system with a DSP processor, We verified that proposed dual fuzzy control rules get the good response compare with the basic fuzzy control rule.

  • We have fabricated mixed-ionic conducting membranes, L $a_{0.6}$S $r_{0.4}$ $Co_{0.2}$F $e_{0.8}$ $O_{3-}$$\delta$/ and L $a_{0.7}$S $r_{0.3}$G $a_{0.6}$F $e_{0.4}$ $O_{3-}$$\delta$/ by the solid state method. Ceramic membranes consisted of perovskite-type structures and exhibited high relative density, >95%. Especially, dense L $a_{0.6}$S $r_{0.4}$Co $O_{3-}$$\delta$/ layer was coated on the L $a_{0.7}$S $r_{0.3}$G $a_{0.6}$F $e_{0.4}$ $O_{3-}$$\delta$/ membranes by using screen printing technique in order to improve oxygen ion flux. We measured oxygen ion flux on uncoated L $a_{0.6}$S $r_{0.4}$ $Co_{0.2}$F $e_{0.8}$ $O_{3-}$$\delta$/, uncoated L $a_{0.7}$S $r_{0.3}$G $a_{0.6}$F $e_{0.4}$ $O_{3-}$$\delta$/, and coated L $a_{0.7}$S $r_{0.3}$G $a_{0.6}$F $e_{0.4}$ $O_{3-}$$\delta$/ membranes. The L $a_{0.6}$S $r_{0.4}$ $Co_{0.2}$F $e_{0.8}$ $O_{3-}$$\delta$/ membranes showed the highest flux, 0.26 mL/min.$\textrm{cm}^2$ at 90$0^{\circ}C$, after steady state had been reached. The oxygen flux of coated L $a_{0.7}$S $r_{0.3}$G $a_{0.6}$F $e_{0.4}$ $O_{3-}$$\delta$/ membranes showed higher value, 0.19 mL/min.$\textrm{cm}^2$ at 95$0^{\circ}C$. • PURPOSE. The aim of the present study was to evaluate the color changes of an autopolymerizing PMMA resin used for interim fixed restorations, reinforced with $SiO_2$ nanoparticles. MATERIALS AND METHODS. Silica nanoparticles were blended with the PMMA resin powder through high-energy ball milling. Four shades of PMMA resin were used (A3, B3, C3, D3) and total color differences were calculated through the equations ${\Delta}E_{ab}=[({\Delta}L*)^2+({\Delta}a*)^2+({\Delta}b*)^2]^{1/2}$ and ${\Delta}E_{00}=[(\frac{{\Delta}L^{\prime}}{K_LS_L})^2+(\frac{{\Delta}C^{\prime}}{K_CS_C})^2+(\frac{{\Delta}H^{\prime}}{K_HS_H})^2+R_T(\frac{{\Delta}C^{\prime}}{K_CS_C})(\frac{{\Delta}H^{\prime}}{K_HS_H})]^{1/2}$. Statistically significant differences between ${\Delta}E_{ab}$ and the clinically acceptable values of 3.3 and 2.7 and those between ${\Delta}E_{00}$ and the clinically acceptable value of 1.8 were evaluated with one sample t-test (P<.05). Differences among the different shades were assessed through One-Way ANOVA and Bonferroni multiple comparison tests. RESULTS. Significantly lower values were detected for all groups concerning ${\Delta}E_{ab}$ compared to the intraorally clinical acceptable values of 3.3 and 2.7. Significantly lower mean values were detected for groups B3, C3, and D3, concerning ${\Delta}E_{00}$ compared to the intraorally clinical acceptant value of 1.8. Color pigments in red-brown (A3) and red-grey (D3) shades affect the total color change to a greater extent after the reinforcement with $SiO_2$ nanoparticles compared to the red-yellow (B3) shade. CONCLUSION. Within the limitations of this in vitro study, it can be suggested that reinforcing PMMA with $SiO_2$ nanoparticles at 0.25 wt% slightly affects the optical properties of the PMMA resin without being clinically perceivable.

  • Recently, much attention has been paid to problems which is concerned with voltage instability phenomena and much works on these phenomena have been made. In this paper, by substituting d $P_{k}$ d $e_{k}$ ( $v^{\rarw}$= e +j f) for $P_{k}$ in conventional load flow, direct method for finging the limit of voltage stability is proposed. Here, by using the fact that taylor se- ries expansion in .DELTA. $P_{k}$ and .DELTA. $Q_{k}$ is terminated at the second-order terms, constraint equation (d $P_{k}$ d $e_{k}$ =0) and power flow equations are formulated with new variables .DSLTA. e and .DELTA.f, so partial differentiations for constraint equation are precisely calculated. The fact that iteratively calculated equations are reformulated with new variables .DELTA.e and .DELTA.f means that limit of voltage stability can be traced precisely through recalculation of jacobian matrix at e+.DELTA.e and f+.DELTA.f state. Then, during iterative process divergence may be avoid. Also, as elements of Hessian mat rix are constant, its computations are required only once during iterative process. Results of application of the proposed method to sample systems are presented. (author). 13 refs., 11 figs., 4 tab.
