Clusters of galaxies provide unique laboratories to study astrophysical processes on large scales, and are also important probes for cosmology. X-ray observations are still the best way to find and characterise clusters. The extended ROSAT-ESO flux-limited X-ray (REFLEX II) galaxy clusters form currently the largest well-defined and tested X-ray galaxy cluster sample, providing a census of the large-scale structure of the Universe out to redshifts of z-0.4. I will describe the properties of the survey and the X-ray luminosity function, which led to our recent cosmological constraints on omegaM-sigma8. They tighten the previous constraints from other X-ray experiments, showing good agreements with those from the Planck clusters, but some tension exists with the Planck CMB constraints. The second part of my talk will concern the structure of the local Universe, and the study of the first X-ray superclusters. The density of the clusters reveals an under-dense region in the nearby Universe, which has an interesting implication for the cosmological parameters. Using the X-ray superclusters, that are constructed with a physically motivated procedure, I will show environmental aspects that X-ray superclusters provide, and compare to cosmological N-body simulations.
In producing cordierite glass-ceramics by sintering, following experiments were conducted in order to determine the optimum heat-treatment schedule for high-crystallinity and dense sintered body. The glass composition of 11.67MgO-29.46Al2O3-52.88SiO2-5P2O5-1B2O3 (wt%) was selected on the basis of the early experiment. The 3-step heat treatment schedule was determined by the results of DTA, Dilatometric measurement and high-temperature XRD, where the particle-size-controlled glass powder was used. The degree of densification and the crystallinity were evaluated by the measurement of the bulk density and X-ray scattering intensity. The specimen fired with the optimum conditions showed ${\alpha}$-cordierite phase, relative density ∼98%, crystallinity ∼92%, thermal expansion coefficient ∼30${\times}$10-7/$^{\circ}C$, dielectric constant ∼5.5 and resistivity ∼1.0${\times}$1012 {{{{ OMEGA }}cm, respectively.

Mather type dense plasma focus device was develooped for the feasibili쇼 study in its application to the x-ray lithography. To etermine the electrical characteristics, the temporal begavior of the discharge current and the voltage was measured by using the Rogowski coil and the high voltage probe respectively. The results are 9 $\mu\textrm{s}$ of the period, 18m$\Omega$ of resistance and 0.16$\mu$Η of inductance. The average current sheath velocity was measured by the light signal emitted at the moving plasma sheath. The light signal was detected through two fiber bundles. When the applied voltage was 13 kV and the initial jpressure of argon was 21.8 Pa, the best plasma focus was occurred. The x-ray emission characteristics from the plasma focus was determined by the x-ray pictures taken by pinhole camera. It is focus that the plasma was focused at 1.4 cm distant position above the center electrode and its diameter was about 1.0 m.
In this study, ZnO film was deposited on polycarbonate substrate by spin-spray method at low substrate temperature of $85^{\circ}C$. Surface morphology of ZnO films was changed by adding citrate from rod to dense structure. As-deposited ZnO film indicated high transmittance above 80%. In case of the resistivity, as-deposited ZnO film had high resistivity due to the existence of organic substance in the film. However, organic substance was removed and resistivity was decreased to $3.9{\times}10^{-2}{\Omega}{\cdot}cm$, after UV irradiation.
Dense $SiC-ZrB_2$ electro-conductive ceramic composites were obtained by hot pressing for high temperature structural application. The influences of the $ZrB_2$ additions an the mechanical and electrical properties of $SiC-ZrB_2$ composites were investigated. Samples were prepared by adding 15, 30, 45 vol.% $ZrB_2$ particles as a second phase to a SiC matrix. Sintering of monolithic SiC and $SiC-ZrB_2$ composites were achieved by hot pressing under a $10^{-4}$ torr vacuum atmosphere from 1000 to $2000^{\circ}C$ with a pressure of 30 MPa and held for 60 minutes at $2000^{\circ}C$. SiC and $SiC-ZrB_2$ samples obtained by hot pressing were fully dense with the relative densities over 99%. Flexural strength and fracture toughness of the samples were improved with the $ZrB_2$ contents. In the case of SiC sample containing 30vol.% $ZrB_2$, the flexural strength and fracture toughness showed 45% and 60% increase, respectively compared to those of monolithic SiC sample. The electrical resistivities of $SiC-ZrB_2$ composites were measured utilizing the four-point probe method and they decreased significantly with Increasing $ZrB_2$ contents. The resistivity of SiC-30vol.% $ZrB_2$ showed $6.50{\times}10^{-4}{\Omega}{\cdot}cm$.
In the segmented-in-series solid-oxide fuel cells (SIS-SOFCs), fabrication techniques which use decalcomania paper have many advantages, i.e., an increased active area of the electrode; better interfacial adhesion property between the anode, electrolyte and cathode; and improved layer thickness uniformity. In this work, a cell-stack was fabricated on porous ceramic flattened tube supports using decalcomania paper, which consists of an anode, electrolyte, and a cathode. The anode layer was $40{\mu}m$ thick, and was porous. The electrolyte layers exhibited a uniform thickness of about $20{\mu}m$ with a dense structure. Interfacial adhesion was improved due to the dense structure. The cathode layers was $30{\mu}m$ thick with porous structure, good adhesion to the electrolyte. The ohmic resistance levels at 800, 750 and $700^{\circ}C$ were measured, showing values of 1.49, 1.58 and $1.65{\Omega}{\cdot}cm^2$, respectively. The polarization resistances at 800, 750 and $700^{\circ}C$ were measured to be 1.63, 2.61 and $4.17cm^2$, respectively. These lower resistance values originated from the excellent interfacial adhesion between the anode, electrolyte and cathode. In a two-cell-stack SOFC, open-circuit voltages(OCVs) of 1.915, 1.942 and 1.957 V and maximum power densities(MPD) of 289.9, 276.1 and $220.4mW/cm^2$ were measured at 800, 750 and $700^{\circ}C$, respectively. The proposed fabrication technique using decalcomania paper was shown to be feasible for the easy fabrication of segmented-in-series flattened tube SOFCs.
Fe-Cr steels are the most promising candidate for interconnect in solid oxide fuel cells. In this study, an effective, dense and well adherent (LaSr)(CrCo)$O_3$ [LSCC] coating layer was produced onto 430 stainless steel (STS-430) by atmospheric plasma spraying and the oxidation behavior as well as electrical properties of the LSCC coated STS-430 were investigated. A significant oxidation of pristine STS-430 occurred at $800^{\circ}C$ in air environment, leading to the formation of $Cr_2O_3$ and $FeCr_2O_4$ scale layer up to ${\sim}7{\mu}m$ after 1200h, and consequently increased an area specific resistance of $330\;m{\Omega}{\cdot}cm^2$. Although the plasma sprayed LSCC coating contained the characteristic pore network, the coated samples presented apparent advantages in reducing oxidation growth of STS-430, resulting a decrease in oxide scale thickness of ${\sim}1{\mu}m$ at $800^{\circ}C$ after 1200h. The area specific resistance of the LSCC coated STS-430 was much reduced to ${\sim}7\;m{\Omega}{\cdot}cm^2$ after exposure at $800^{\circ}C$ for 1200h, compared to that of the pristine STS-403.
Al-doped ZnO(AZO) thin films were synthesized using atomid layer deposition(ALD), which acurately controlled the uniform film thickness of the AZO thin films. To investigate the electrical and optical properites of the AZO thin films, AZO films using ALD was controlled to be three different thicknesses (50 nm, 100 nm, and 150 nm). The structural, chemical, electrical, and optical properties of the AZO thin films were analyzed by X-ray diffraction, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, field-emssion scanning electron microscopy, atomic force microscopy, Hall measurement system, and UV-Vis spectrophotometry. As the thickness of the AZO thin films increased, the crystallinity of the AZO thin films gradually increased, and the surface morphology of the AZO thin films were transformed from a porous structure to a dense structure. The average surface roughnesses of the samples using atomic force microscopy were ~3.01 nm, ~2.89 nm, and ~2.44 nm, respectively. As the thickness of the AZO filmsincreased, the surface roughness decreased gradually. These results affect the electrical and optical properties of AZO thin films. Therefore, the thickest AZO thin films with 150 nm exhibited excellent resistivity (${\sim}7.00{\times}10^{-4}{\Omega}{\cdot}cm$), high transmittance (~83.2 %), and the best FOM ($5.71{\times}10^{-3}{\Omega}^{-1}$). AZO thin films fabricated using ALD may be used as a promising cadidate of TCO materials for optoelectronic applications.
For the development of superconducting fault current limiters (SFCLs), fault current limiting elements were fabricated out of Bi-2212 bulk tubes and tested. The SFCL elements consisted of tube shaped Bi-2212 bulks and metal shunts for the stabilizers. Firstly, the Bi-2212 bulk tubes were processed based on a design of monofilar coils in order to acquire large resistance and high voltage rating. 300 mm-long Bi-2212 tubes were designed to have the current path of 410 cm in length with 24 turns and 41 mm in diameter. The processed monofilar coil, as designed, had 300 A $I_c$ at 77 K. The fabricated superconducting monofilar coils were affixed to Cu-Ni alloy as that of stabilizers. The Cu-Ni alloys were processed to have the same shape of the superconducting monofilar coils. The Cu-Ni coil had resistivity of 32 ${\mu}{\Omega}$-cm at 77 K and 37 ${\mu}{\Omega}$-cm at 300 K. The metal shunts were attached to the outside of the Bi-2212 monofilar coil by a soldering technique. After the terminals made of copper were attached to both ends of the superconductor-metal shunt composite, the gap between the turns and the surface of the elements was filled with an epoxy and a dense mesh made of FRP in order to enhance the mechanical strength. The completed SFCL elements went through fault tests, and we confirmed that the voltage rating of 143 $V_{rms}$ (E =0.35 $V_{rms}$/cm) could be accomplished.
To clarify the exocytotic features in adrenal medullary aminergic cells, the authors observed rat adrenal medulla prepared by the TAGO method with transmission electron microscope. Rat adrenal medulla contains two types of aminergic cells, adrenergic and noradrenergic, as described. They were present as a group. In a single group both adrenergic and noradrenergic cells were present, but the same kind of cells showed the tendency forming small groups. Adrenergic cells were characterized with the granules having relatively electroluscent cores. These granules were relatively uniform in size, and the cores filled the granules with only thin halos. Noradrenergic cells were characterized with the granules of various size and forms. Most of the cores of these granules were generally more electron-dense than those of the adrenergic cells and only partly filled the granules without forming the halos. But, some granules were very similar in the shape and electron density as those of the adrenergic cells. Even empty-looking granules were present. Exocytotic figures with the classical omega figures were observed in both types of aminergic cells, but they were more frequent in adrenergic cells. These figures were mainly present along the plasma membranes toward the capillary. The excreted materials could be identified in the cleft of the omega figures. Apocrine-like secretory patterns but without cytoplasmic rims were identified in noradrenergic cells. Some vesicles, possibly formed from the cytoplsmic tubular systems were released. Some irregular lamellar structures of varying sizes were also observed. They looked like membranous structures sneaking through the plasma membranes. We could not, however, found any evidences of their involvement in exocytotic processes. These were present toward the capillaries and found only in the adrenergic cells. The authors conclude that the secretory processes in adrenal chromaffin cells may include not only the classical exocytotic processes but also the unusual direct secretions of granules or parts of cellular organelles. The membranous lamellar structures may indicate the remnants of excreted granules or functionally inactive excess membranes of the organelles removed from the cytoplasm.
