The utilization of multispectral imaging systems (MIS) in remote sensing has become crucial for large-scale agricultural operations, particularly for diagnosing plant health, monitoring crop growth, and estimating plant phenotypic traits through vegetation indices (VIs). However, environmental factors can significantly affect the accuracy of multispectral reflectance data, leading to potential errors in VIs and crop status assessments. This paper reviewed the complex interactions between environmental conditions and multispectral sensors emphasizing the importance of accounting for these factors to enhance the reliability of reflectance data in agricultural applications.An overview of the fundamentals of multispectral sensors and the operational principles behind vegetation index (VI) computation was reviewed. The review highlights the impact of environmental conditions, particularly solar zenith angle (SZA), on reflectance data quality. Higher SZA values increase cloud optical thickness and droplet concentration by 40-70%, affecting reflectance in the red (-0.01 to 0.02) and near-infrared (NIR) bands (-0.03 to 0.06), crucial for VI accuracy. An SZA of 45° is optimal for data collection, while atmospheric conditions, such as water vapor and aerosols, greatly influence reflectance data, affecting forest biomass estimates and agricultural assessments. During the COVID-19 lockdown,reduced atmospheric interference improved the accuracy of satellite image reflectance consistency. The NIR/Red edge ratio and water index emerged as the most stable indices, providing consistent measurements across different lighting conditions. Additionally, a simulated environment demonstrated that MIS surface reflectance can vary 10-20% with changes in aerosol optical thickness, 15-30% with water vapor levels, and up to 25% in NIR reflectance due to high wind speeds. Seasonal factors like temperature and humidity can cause up to a 15% change, highlighting the complexity of environmental impacts on remote sensing data. This review indicated the importance of precisely managing environmental factors to maintain the integrity of VIs calculations. Explaining the relationship between environmental variables and multispectral sensors offers valuable insights for optimizing the accuracy and reliability of remote sensing data in various agricultural applications.

Meta에서 신속한 영상 분할 기능을 제공하는 대규모 컴퓨터 비전 생성 모델을 발표한 이후, 여러 활용 분야에서 이를 적용하려는 연구가 이루어지고 있다. 이 연구에서는 위성 영상 자료에 Segment Anything Model (SAM)을 사용할 수 있는 QGIS 플러그인 Geo-SAM을 사용하여 수체 객체 탐지와 추출에 대한 SAM의 적용성을 조사해 보고자 하였다. 실험 대상 자료는 국토위성(Compact Advanced Satellite 500, CAS500-1) 영상을 사용하였다. 이 자료를 가지고 SAM을 적용하여 얻은 결과는 같은 입력 영상으로부터 수작업으로 제작한 수체 객체 자료, Open Street Map (OSM)의 수체 자료, 국토지리정보원의 수계 수치지도와 비교하였다. SAM 처리 결과와 비교 대상 자료를 이용하여 추출된 모든 객체를 대상으로 계산한 경계사각형의 교집합/합집합의 평균값을 나타내는 mean Intersection over Union (mIoU)은 각각 0.7490, 0.5905, 0.4921로 나타났고, 각 자료에서 공통으로 나타나거나 추출된 객체에 대해 계산한 결과는 차례대로 0.9189, 0.8779, 0.7715로 나타났다. SAM을 적용한 결과와 다른 비교 자료와의 공간적 일치도를 분석한 결과, SAM에서는 한 개의 수체 객체를 여러 개의 분할 요소로 나타내므로 수체 객체 분류를 지원하는 의미 있는 결과를 보이고 있음을 알 수 있다.

위성영상은 구름, 구름 그림자, 지형 그림자 등을 포함한 다양한 요소를 포함하고 있으며, 이러한 요소들을 정확히 식별하고 제거하는 것은 원격 탐사 분야에서 위성영상의 신뢰성을 유지하기 위해 필수적이다. 이를 위해 Landsat-8, Sentinel-2, Compact Advanced Satellite 500-1 (CAS500-1)과 같은 위성들은 분석준비자료(Analysis Ready Data)의 일환으로 영상과 함께 사용가능한 데이터 마스크(Usable Data Mask, UDM)를 제공하고 있으며, UDM 데이터의 정확한 구축을 위해 구름 및 구름 그림자 탐지가 필수적이다. 기존의 구름 및 구름 그림자 탐지 기법은 임계값 기반 기법과 인공지능 기반 기법으로 나뉘며, 최근에는 많은 양의 데이터를 처리하는 데 유리한 딥러닝 네트워크를 활용한 인공지능 기법이 많이 사용되고 있다. 본 연구에서는 오픈소스 데이터 셋을 통해 훈련된 딥러닝 네트워크 기반 구름 및 구름 그림자 탐지를 통해 고해상도 위성영상의 UDM 구축 가능성을 분석하고자 하였다. 딥러닝 네트워크의 성능을 검증하기 위해 Landsat-8, Sentinel-2, CAS500-1 위성영상과 함께 제공된 기구축된 UDM 데이터와 딥러닝 네트워크가 생성한 탐지 결과 간의 유사성을 분석하였다. 그 결과, 딥러닝 네트워크가 생성한 탐지 결과는 높은 정확도를 나타냈다. 또한 UDM을 제공하지 않는 고해상도 위성영상인 KOMPSAT-3/3A 영상에 적용하였다. 실험 결과, 딥러닝 네트워크를 통하여 고해상도 위성영상 내에 존재하는 구름 및 구름 그림자를 효과적으로 탐지한 것을 확인하였다. 이를 통해 고해상도 위성영상에서도 딥러닝 네트워크를 사용하여 UDM 데이터를 구축할 수 있는 가능성을 확인하였다.

위성영상을 활용한 수체 변화 탐지 및 그 변화 연구가 최근 국내에서 여러 지역에 대해 다종 센서 적용으로 다양하게 이루어지고 있다. 본 연구에서는 Google Earth Engine (GEE) 기반 Landsat 및 Sentinel-2 광학 위성영상을 사용하여 국내에 계측 운영되고 있는 중소규모 용수댐 및 농업용 저수지 각 2개소, 총 4개소에 대한 장기 수표면적 변화 분석과 이의 실제 계측 수위 및 저수율 자료, 수표면적과의 관계식 등을 이용하여 산정된 결과와의 비교 검증 및 그 수체 변화 적용에 있어서의 활용성 평가를 용수댐 19개년, 농업용 저수지 27개년의 기간에 대하여 각각 수행하였다. 그 결과 저수지별 수표면적은 적용된 정규수분지수(normalized difference water index), Canny Edge Detection의 이미지 분석 방법과 Otsu 수체 구분 경계설정 등을 통해 안정적으로 추출이 가능하였으며, 수체의 연중 뚜렷한 변화 양상을 비교적 잘 분석해 낼 수 있는 것으로 확인이 되었다. 이렇게 분석된 수표면적 시계열 자료를 실측 수위를 바탕으로 변환된 면적과 비교, 상관성 분석을 실시한 결과에서는 용수댐의 경우 그 계수가 0.8 이상으로 높은 상관성이 확인된 반면, 농업용 저수지의 경우는 0.5~0.7 수준으로 다소 낮은 결과를 보였다. 이는 농업용 저수지 운영 특성에 의한 결과로 위성영상의 분석보다는 비교할 대상의 자료가 제대로 확보되지 못한 점에 기인했다. 아울러 규모가 작은 저수지의 분석 결과에도 여러 불일치 구간이 존재해 향후 연구에서 소규모 저수지에 대한 추가적 선정 분석도 필요한 것으로 판단되었다. 이렇게 GEE를 통해 산정, 검토된 수표면적 변화는 저수지에 있어 수위 계측만으로는 파악할 수 없는 유역 전반의 수체 변화에 대한 공간적 정보로서 유용하게 활용될 수 있으며, 또한 장기간의 방대한 위성영상 자료를 효율적으로 처리할 수 있다는 점에서 그 활용성을 확인할 수 있었다. 이를 바탕으로 향후 보다 다양한 크기 및 형상, 그리고 계측, 미계측 등 많은 개수의 댐 저수지에 대해 적용하여 저수지 군별 추가적인 연구 결과도 도출할 수 있을 것으로 기대된다.

본 연구에서는 차등흡수분광법(differential optical absorption spectroscopy)을 이용하여 지상 기반 태양 산란광 관측자료로부터 이산화황 경사칼럼농도(slant column density)를 산출할 때 다양한 피팅 파장 구간 및 흡수단면적이 미치는 영향을 확인하였다. 2023년 12월 1일부터 2024년 1월 23일까지 김해시에서 지상 기반 원격 관측 장비로 관측된 자료를 사용하여 선행 연구 기반의 피팅 파장 구간과 흡수단면적 각각 5가지 조건으로 이산화황 경사칼럼농도를 산출하였다. 5가지의 피팅 파장 구간 중 305.7-321.1 nm의 구간에서 피팅 후 잔여 신호와 이산화황 산출 오차를 고려한 산출 불확실성이 최소로 확인되었다. 흡수단면적의 경우 이산화황(293 K) 및 오존(223 K, 243 K) 흡수단면적을 사용하여 산출하는 조건의 피팅 후 잔여 신호와 산출 오차가 가장 작았다. 피팅 파장 구간 조사에 사용한 흡수단면적 기준과 4가지의 흡수단면적 조건으로 산출된 이산화황 경사층적분농도는 높은 상관성을 보였다.

대부분의 고해상도 위성영상은 rational polynomial coefficients (RPC) 정보를 제공하여 지상좌표와 영상좌표 간 변환을 수행한다. 그러나 초기 RPC에는 기하학적 오차가 존재하여 ground control points (GCPs)와의 정합을 통해 보정을 수행하여야 한다. GCP chip은 항공정사영상에서 추출한 높이 정보가 포함된 작은 영상 패치(patch)이다. 많은 선행연구에서는 영역 기반 정합 기법을 사용하여 고해상도 위성영상과 GCP chip 간 정합을 수행하였다. 계절적 차이나 변화된 지역이 존재하는 영상에서는 화소값에 의존하는 정합이 어렵기 때문에 윤곽 정보를 추출하여 정합을 수행하기도 한다. 그러나 일반적으로 사용하는 canny 기법으로 정합에 용이한 윤곽을 추출하기 위해서는 위성영상의 분광 특성에 적절한 임계치를 설정해주어야 하는 문제가 존재한다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 위성영상의 지역별 특성에 둔감한 윤곽 정보를 활용하여 RPC 보정을 위한 정합을 수행하고자 한다. 이를 위해 딥러닝 기반 윤곽 정보 추출 네트워크인 pixel difference network (PiDiNet)를 활용하여 위성영상과 GCP chip의 윤곽맵(edge map)을 각각 생성하였다. 그 후 생성된 윤곽맵을 normalized cross-correlation과 relative edge cross-correlation의 입력데이터로 대체하여 영역 기반의 정합을 수행하였다. 마지막으로 RPC 보정에 필요한 변환모델 계수를 도출하기 위하여 data snooping 기법을 반복적으로 적용하여 참정합쌍을 추출하였다. 오정합쌍을 제거한 참정합쌍에 대해 root mean square error (RMSE)를 도출하고 기존에 사용하던 상관관계 기법과 결과를 정성적으로 비교하였다. 실험 결과, PiDiNet은 약 0.3~0.9 화소의 RMSE 값 분포를 보였으나 canny 기법에 비해 두꺼운 윤곽을 나타내어 일부 영상에서 미세하게 정확도가 저하되는 것을 확인하였다. 그러나 위성영상 내 특징적인 윤곽을 일관적으로 나타냄으로써 정합이 어려운 지역에서도 정합이 잘 수행되는 것을 확인하였다. 본 연구를 통해 윤곽 기반 정합 기법의 강인성을 개선하여 다양한 지역에서의 정합을 수행할 수 있을 것으로 예상된다.

The Land Surface Temperature (LST) is a crucial parameter in identifying drought. It is essential to identify how LST can increase its accuracy, particularly in mountainous and hill areas. Increasing the LST accuracy can be achieved by applying early data processing in the correction phase, specifically in the context of topographic correction on the Lambertian model. Empirical evidence has demonstrated that this particular stage effectively enhances the process of identifying objects, especially within areas that lack direct illumination. Therefore, this research aims to examine the application of the Lambertian model in estimating LST using the Multi-Channel Method (MCM) across various physiographic regions. Lambertian model is a method that utilizes Lambertian reflectance and specifically addresses the radiance value obtained from Sun-Canopy-Sensor(SCS) and Cosine Correction measurements. Applying topographical adjustment to the LST outcome results in a notable augmentation in the dispersion of LST values. Nevertheless, the area physiography is also significant as the plains terrain tends to have an extreme LST value of ≥ 350 K. In mountainous and hilly terrains, the LST value often falls within the range of 310-325 K. The absence of topographic correction in LST results in varying values: 22 K for the plains area, 12-21 K for hilly and mountainous terrain, and 7-9 K for both plains and mountainous terrains. Furthermore, validation results indicate that employing the Lambertian model with SCS and Cosine Correction methods yields superior outcomes compared to processing without the Lambertian model, particularly in hilly and mountainous terrain. Conversely, in plain areas, the Lambertian model's application proves suboptimal. Additionally, the relationship between physiography and LST derived using the Lambertian model shows a high average R² value of 0.99. The lowest errors(K) and root mean square error values, approximately ±2 K and 0.54, respectively, were achieved using the Lambertian model with the SCS method. Based on the findings, this research concluded that the Lambertian model could increase LST values. These corrected values are often higher than the LST values obtained without the Lambertian model.
