Objectives: To study the change of personality types of Korean medical students focusing on the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator. Methods: A survey was conducted on 84 Korean medical students to investigate the change of personality types focusing on the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator. Results: In both freshman and senior student groups, the ISTJ was the most common type. The order of the number of the type changes during the university years was 1 type (45.2%)>2 types (23.8%)>3 types (14.3%)>0 types (11.9%)>4 types (1.8%), and the score of I, S, T, P type increased. Conclusions: As a result of the Korean medical students' MBTI type changes during the university years, the types were changed rather than fixed.

Objectives: To conduct and report the results of a public health promotion program in Korean medicine (KM), namely the KM Visiting Care Service for Solitary Elderly, from November 2018 to April 2019. Methods: Six elderly people living in a rural area received the KM visiting care service, twice a week, for four months. This service consisted of acupuncture, auriculotherapy, and supportive counseling to manage their musculoskeletal pain, cognitive impairment, and/or depression. The changes of symptoms were assessed using Numeric Rating Scale (NRS), Korean version of Mini-Mental State Examination for Dementia Screening (MMSE-DS), Korean version of Montreal Cognitive Assessment (MoCA-K), and Geriatric Depression Scale-Short form Korean (GDS-SF-K). Results: Through the 4-months KM visiting care service, the overall subjects' NRS-rated pain decreased slightly. Most showed improvement in MMSE-DS and/or MoCA-K, except one subject who was diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease. Depression assessed by GDS-SF-K showed improvement in a few subjects who were unable to walk independently. Satisfaction assessed through survey was generally high in all subjects. Conclusions: This KM Visiting Care Service for Solitary Elderly may help improve the pain and cognitive function of frail solitary elderly in rural areas. However, the protocol need to be improved to optimize the effect.

Objectives: Case report is a description of medical experience that contains a patient's information and treatments. It has been used to determine the effectiveness and side effect of the treatments. Case report can be used for medical, scientific, or educational purposes. The objective of this study was to evaluate the quality of case reports published in Journal of Oriental Neuropsychiatry from 2013 to 2017 using CARE and CARES guideline. Methods: Case reports were selected from Journal of Oriental Neuropsychiatry and their quality assessed using CARE guideline and CARES guideline. The items of CARE and CARES guideline were assessed as 'Sufficient', 'Not sufficient', 'Not reported', 'Not applicable'. The outcome was analyzed using case reports and items. Results: 26 case reports were selected. For CARE guideline, 'Sufficient' percentage was min at 22.2%, max at 46.4% with a median of 39.3%. Sum of 'Sufficient', 'Not sufficient' percentage was min at 59.3%, max at 85.7% with a median of 75.0%. Items 'Timeline', 'Diagnostic assessment', 'Follow up and outcomes', 'Informed consent' were not reported in more than 50% of all case reports. Items 'Keywords', 'Abstract', 'Introduction', 'patient information', 'Diagnostic assessment', 'Therapeutic interventions', 'Follow up and outcomes' were not sufficiently reported in more than 50% of all case reports. For CARES guideline, 'Sufficient' percentage was min at 0%, max at 50% with a median of 0%. Sum of 'Sufficient', 'Not sufficient' percentage was min at 33.3%, max at 100% with a median of 92.9%. Items of herbal prescription 'herb', 'decoction', 'use', items of acupuncture treatment 'materials', 'techniques', items of moxibustion treatment 'materials', 'techniques' were not sufficiently reported in more than 50% of all case reports. Conclusions: The reporting rate of items was good. But the quality of reporting was low. Also, particular items were not reported frequently. Therefore, there is a need to improve the quality of case reports in Journal of Oriental Neuropsychiatry.

Objectives: The present study aims to review the antidepressant effect of herbal medicines reported in Korean local journals. Methods: We searched in electronic databases (Koreantk, KISS, OASIS, NDSL) for studies, published in Korean national journals, that assessed herbal medicine effect of depression model. The search term was 'depression' in the abstract or whole text. Depression model, herbal material, experimental results, mechanisms were extracted. Results: We included 43 articles in which 38 studies were in vitro experiments, and the rest 5 were in vivo experiments. The most common experiment subject model was a rat and the most widely used method to induce depression was Despair behavior test. 21 studies used simple herbal medicines, and 22 studies used complex herbal medication. Glycyrrhizae Radix was the most commonly used herbal material to improve depression model. The most common mechanisms of herbal medicine with antidepressant effect were inhibition of Monoamine activation mechanism and depression related neurohormone secretion. Conclusions: Herbal medicines may be a promising resource for treating depression.

Objectives: We conducted this study to evaluate the efficacy of Chuna Manual Therapy (CMT) for treatment of cervicogenic headache (CeH) through systematic review and Meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials (RCTs) as a preceding research to further research the effective of Chuna Manual Therapy for patients who suffered from CeH. Methods: We conducted a systematic review and meta-analysis by the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses guidelines. We searched the studies from MEDLINE, Elsevier-EMBASE, The Cochrane Library, CAJD, KISS, KMBase, Korean Traditional Knowledge Portal, NDSL, and OASIS. The studies selected only in randomized controlled trials. We selected the chosen studies by the selection and the exclusion criteria, and evaluated the quality of the selected studies using the Jadad score and the Cochran ROB tool. We used the Visual Analogue Scale score (VAS) and Clinical total Effective Rate (CER) for the results and analyzed the results of the included studies using RevMan 5.3 software provided by the Cochran library. Results: We included 20 RCTs, including 1,673 subjects, in the systematic review and meta-analysis. After the intervention, the CMT group showed better results than the pharmacotherapy group, the physiotherapy group, and the combined treatment group. The CMT group showed a good effect on the CER and the VAS but showed a significant heterogeneity compared to the pharmacotherapy group. Conclusions: The CMT as monotherapy might have benefits on Cervicogenic Headache patient. Further well-designed studies need to be conducted.

Objectives: The objective of this study is to report the effectiveness of Korean medicine therapy on Psychologic tremor patients with MCVT. Methods: Korean medicine therapy including MCVT, herb, acupuncture, and psychotherapy are applied to psychologic tremor patients. Vas and AIMS are used as assessment tools to evaluate the effects of therapy. MCVT is a traditional Korean medicine technique usually for chronic diseases. Similarly, autogenic training by J.H.Schultz and Giungoroen-therapy was conducted as psychotherapy. Results: In case 1, the patient lost all symptoms from vas10 to vas0, while in case 2, symptoms of the patient decreased from vas10 to vas3. Additionally, there was a significant decrease in the AIMS measurement score for both patients. Psychotherapy helped to reduce depression and anxiety. Conclusions: Psychologic tremor can be treated using Korean traditional medicine such as MCVT, Sosiho-tang and psychotherapy.
