Aim & Scope

Rapid Communication in Photoscience (RCP) is published quarterly by the Korean Society of Photoscience. Its aim is to report both experimental and theoretical researches in rapid communications dealing with all aspects of photosciences. Appropriate subjects include photochemistry, photobiology, photomaterials, photocatalyst, photovoltaic materials and process, photoactive biomolecules, photoinduced electron (charge) and energy transfer, photomedicine, photographic chemistry, photomorphogenesis, photomovement, singlet oxygen in chemistry, biology, and medicine, photonics, quantum dot and nanophotonics, photoreception, photochromic materials and molecular switches, photosensitization, photosynthesis, phototechnology, spectroscopy, ultraviolet radiation effects, and vision. Rapid review processes for submitted manuscripts will be completed within 14 days. Once they have been accepted and proofs corrected by authors, they are published on the web with their volumes and page numbers.

    We report on the photoluminescence (PL) properties of poly[2,7-(9-9-dioctylfluorene)] (PF) thin film under strong optical pumping using a streak camera system. When the excitation energy density increases above $72{\mu}J{\cdot}cm^{-2}$, the emission spectrum becomes narrower and PL decay curve comes to be faster simultaneously. These behaviors are clear evidence of Amplified Spontaneous Emission (ASE) due to a waveguided Stimulated Emission in slab structure of thin film. ASE threshold of $72{\mu}J{\cdot}cm^{-2}$ is comparable with previous reports and PF is attractive as a gain medium for plastic lasers.

    The influence of the grain size of the $CH_3NH_3PbI_3$ on the solar cell performance is investigated by controlling the ratio between $CH_3NH_3I$ and $PbI_2$ precursors. As the concentration of the precursors increased from 1.0M to 2.0M, the $CH_3NH_3PbI_3$ grain size increased from ~100nm to ~400nm. The solar cell utilizing the $CH_3NH_3PbI_3$ with large grain size shows improved photocurrent compared to the solar cell utilizing $CH_3NH_3PbI_3$ with small grain size, which is ascribed to the reduced recombination at the boundaries of grains.

    Photoelectrochemical cell (PEC) is one of the attractive ways to produce clean and renewable energy. However, solar to hydrogen production via PEC system generally requires high external bias, because of material's innate electronic band potential relative to hydrogen reduction potential and/or charge separation issue. For spontaneous photo-water splitting, here, we design dye-sensitized solar cell (DSSC) and their monolithic tandem cell incorporated with a $BiVO_4$ photoanode. $BiVO_4$ has high conduction band edge potential and suitable band gap (2.4eV) to absorb visible light. To achieve efficient $BiVO_4$ photoanode system, electron and hole mobility should be improved, and we demonstrate a tandem cell in which $BiVO_4/WO_3$ film is connected to cobalt complex based DSSC.

    Substituted butadiyne cobalt complexes 1, 2 were prepared and placed on the e-beam to study the fragmentation focused on diyne generation, in MS spectrometer. Phenyl or methyl substituted cobalt complexes generated the corresponding diyne with 100, 30% relative intensities under e-beam irradiation in gas phase.

    The design and development of fluorescent chemosensors have recently been intensively explored for sensitive and specific detection of environmentally and biologically relevant metal ions in aqueous solution and living cells. Herein, we report the photophysical results of rhodamine B based fluorogenic and chromogenic receptor for selective copper detection in the complete organic or mixed aqueous-organic media at neutral pH under ambient condition. The ligand exhibited the remarkable increment in the fluorescence emission and UV-visible absorption signal intensities at 587 and 547 nm, respectively, on induction of copper ion while the ligand solution remain completely silent on addition of varieties of other metal ions.
