Aim & Scope
Rapid Communication in Photoscience (RCP) is published quarterly by the Korean Society of Photoscience. Its aim is to report both experimental and theoretical researches in rapid communications dealing with all aspects of photosciences. Appropriate subjects include photochemistry, photobiology, photomaterials, photocatalyst, photovoltaic materials and process, photoactive biomolecules, photoinduced electron (charge) and energy transfer, photomedicine, photographic chemistry, photomorphogenesis, photomovement, singlet oxygen in chemistry, biology, and medicine, photonics, quantum dot and nanophotonics, photoreception, photochromic materials and molecular switches, photosensitization, photosynthesis, phototechnology, spectroscopy, ultraviolet radiation effects, and vision. Rapid review processes for submitted manuscripts will be completed within 14 days. Once they have been accepted and proofs corrected by authors, they are published on the web with their volumes and page numbers.

Noble diamine monomers containing thiophene moiety were prepared, such as 2,5'''-diamino-2, 2':5', 2'':5'', 2'''-quaterthiophene (4TDA) and 2, 5'''''-diamino-3'', 4'''-dihexyl-2,2':5', 2'':5'', 2''':5''', 2'''':5'''', 2'''''-sexithiophene (6TDA). Then, these monomers were utilized to prepare polyimides with 3,6-diphenylpromellitic dianhydride (DPPMDA), 3,6-di(4'-trifluoro-methylphenyl) pyromellitic dianhydride (6FPMDA) or 3,6-di(3',5'-bis (trifluoromethyl)phenyl) pyromellitic dianhydride (12FPMDA) via a conventional two-step process. The polyimides were characterized by FT-IR, TGA and DSC, and then subjected CV, UV-vis and PL measurements. The polyimides containing thiophene moiety exhibited high glass transition temperatures (
$280{\sim}310^{\circ}C$ ) and excellent thermal stability (>$420^{\circ}C$ ) in air as well as green emission (535~586 nm). -
The Fluorescent 7-aminodipyrido[3,2-a:2',3'-c]phenazine (7-amino-dppz, 1) is functionalized as an europium ion (
$Eu^{3+}$ ) sensor, which showed the effective emission quenching when europium cation is chelated to the bpy site of 1 compound. The complexation ratio indicated that the 1 compound forms a 1 : 1 complex with$Eu^{3+}$ . -

Photoinduced electron-transfer process of 1,8-naphthalimide-linker-trimethylsilane (NI-O3-TMS, O3 = 3,6,9-trioxaundecyl) and NI-O3 has been investigated using the transient absorption measurements in$CH_3CN$ and$CH_3CN/H_2O$ . The excitation of NI-O3-TMS in$CH_3CN$ produced the NI radical anion ($NI^{{\cdot}-}$ ) with a transient absorption band around 413 nm, via the intermolecular electron-transfer between NI moieties in the excited singlet state. In contrast, in a protic polar solvent mixture of$CH_3CN/H_2O$ , a proton abstraction process occurred from$NI^{{\cdot}-}$ to generate the NI ketyl radical ($NIH^{\cdot}$ ), which showed a transient absorption band around 405 nm. The decay time constants of$NIH^{\cdot}$ were quite long compared to those of$NI^{{\cdot}-}$ in$CH_3CN$ . -
